ColdFusion Feature Usage Survey
Please participate in this ColdFusion feature usage survey. This is not a typical feature usage survey for ColdFusion. The purpose of this survey is to understand the usage of some of the old or not-so-popular features of ColdFusion.
The information gathered here will help Adobe deprecate/retain/provide alternate features in the next major version of ColdFusion.
Thanks for your time.
Hi Henry,
Am I reading your post correctly, that you want to distribute
the entire survey
via e-mail? If my reading is correct, then my question is why
must it be done
in this manner.
My suggestion would be to maintain the survey on the server,
distribute an
e-mail with a hyperlink to the survey for the recipents to
complete, which
also allows for more control over the survey process. Further
I would do the
survey in three parts (pages) as such.
-- survey_page.cfm
This page is obvious and would contain the survey questions.
-- survey_processing.cfm
This page is where all the processing would take place, like
inserting responses into the appropriate database(s), as well
as
sending automated e-mail notifications when a survey is
received.
The last line of code on this page would be a
<cflocation> tag
redirecting the individual to the next page. By using a
processing
page, you reduce if not eliminate the double record creation
that
can occur when individuals click the submit button more then
once.
-- survey_completed.cfm
This page would let the submitter know the submission was
completed,
as well as let you provide any additional information you may
want to
bring to their attention. Could also use this page to provide
links to
thank you gifts, etc. to show appreciation for taking the
time to complete
the survey.
Anyway just my two cents worth on your post. I have done alot
of survey(s)
and have found this to be the best working process (at least
for me).

Enterprise feature usage: SQL Profile
Is SQL Profile an enterprise Edition feature only? As in, just making use of a profile that was not created in this database?
I've got a development environment, which is licensed for everything. I create an SQL Profile for a bad statement on that Enterprise database, then I transfer it to a standard edition database using:
How to copy SQL Profile from one database to another one. | David Marcos' Blog
When I now execute the statement, I can see that it used the profile, but the following statement returns no hits for me having used this feature:
col name for a50
alter session set nls_date_format='dd month yyyy';
select '## Enterprise Edition Feature Usage Overview:' from dual;
Select name,version,first_usage_date,last_usage_date from dba_feature_usage_statistics where name in ('Advanced Replication','AWR Report','AWR Baseline','Automatic Workload Repository','Backup Encryption','Backup ZLIB Compression','Block Media Recovery','Database Replay: Workload Capture','Database Replay: Workload Replay','Diagnostic Pack','EM Performance Page','Flashback Database','Label Security','OLAP - Analytic Workspaces','OLAP - Cubes','Oracle Secure Backup','Parallel SQL DDL Execution','Parallel SQL DML Execution','Parallel SQL Query Execution','Partitioning (user)','Real-Time SQL Monitoring','Result Cache','SQL Monitoring and Tuning pages','SQL Plan Management','SQL Tuning Set (user)','SecureFile Encryption (user)','Spatial','Tune MView','Tuning Pack','Automatic Maintenance - SQL Tuning Advisor','SQL Profile','SQL Tuning Advisor','SQL Tuning Set (user)') and first_usage_date is not null order by first_usage_date asc;
So my question is: if i've not created the profile in the Standard Edition database... it's just been imported from another database... Am I violating my licensing?Hi,
> So my question is: if i've not created the profile in the Standard Edition database... it's just been imported from another database... Am I violating my licensing?
You are even violating your Oracle EE license, if you do not have a valid Diagnostics + Tuning pack for it. You can reproduce this very easily as described by Kerry Osborne here: Licensing Requirements for SQL Profiles
SQL Plan Management is included in Oracle EE as an alternative for example: Does the use of SQL Plan Management and the DBMS_SPM database package require a tuning or diagnostic pack license?

Quick Survey on ColdFusion 10 usage
G'day
Hey, this is not a question and I hope it's OK to post here soliciting traffic to somewhere else. It is not spam though!
I'm just running a quick survey on people's ColdFusion10 usage. It'd be helpful to me if you could read this blog article, and then fill in the survey linked to at the bottom.
Cheers.
AdamPer the ColdFusion Blog entry regarding the EULA, Adobe considers four cores to be a CPU - so a quad-core processor is one CPU. You can run ColdFusion 10 Standard on up to a dual quad-core server under the terms of the license. Here is an excerpt:
The power of a CPU has grown enormously over the last few years and we now see individual core in a CPU itself being as powerful as a CPU. Few companies treat every group of two cores as a CPU and also change their licensing based on the power of processing core involved. We decided to take a lighter stand on this. Our idea was not to penalize our customers just because we now have cores in the CPU definition. Four cores in a CPU is the norm these days. So we decided to chose four cores to be deemed as a CPU.
What this would mean is, if you are running ColdFusion on a 2 quad core CPU (8 cores in total, which would be deemed as 2 CPUs), you can still continue to run ColdFusion 10 on it.

Adobe SystemsIf you'll Google for this you might find some past surveys by SD Times and others. But as you noted the answers are different based on who you ask.
One other way is to look at job postings for specific IDEs on sites like http://dice.com and http://monster.com -
Is anyone aware of any surveys on how many people use which IDE?
Clearly if we asked here most people would say they use JDeveloper. I'm working on generating a comparison and report on the major IDEs and from my exposure they are: Eclipse, IDEA, JDeveloper and NetBeans. I'd like to see some idea of what is the percentage breakdown using the various IDEs.
Perhaps JavaWorld or some other site has run a survey? If you'll Google for this you might find some past surveys by SD Times and others. But as you noted the answers are different based on who you ask.

Identifty different features usage for SPLA report automation
Hi,
We are trying to automate SPLA report automation using PowerShell for exchange server 2013, and need to understand few things for this purpose.
Can please someone explain what are these features, and how to identify them using powershell (whether some exchange users using them or not):
-- Shared Folders
-- Shared Address Lists
-- Shared Contacts
-- Shared Calendar
-- Mobile Browse
-- Compliance Management
-- Exchange 2013 Anti spam
as written in this document.

Coldfusion, license usage
I have a server REDHAT, install coldfusion 10, i need know how many user non-concurrents, can use one license.
David, first, are you referring to users making requests of CFML pages running on the server? I suspect so, as opposed to Priyank’s thinking you were talking about admin users. Very different topics.
Second, are you asking about what happens on the free Development edition? Or by referring to “a license”, do you refer instead to a Standard or Enterprise-licensed version of CF?
If you have a paid license installed in CF, then there is no limit to how many users “can use one license”.
If you are using the free Developer edition (no paid license installed), CF10 does handle the throttling of users different than CF9 and earlier. In CF10, up to a few concurrent requests can run at once. In CF9 and earlier, only a few different ip addresses could make requests against a CF developer edition instance, after which no new requests were accepted from any other IPs until CF was restarted.
The new approach in CF10 is far more flexible, while still ensuring that the free Developer edition is not misused for production purposes.
Does that answer the question you were asking?

I was told before I bought my UMBP that it was more power than what I needed it for! I'm just using right now for internet and Yahoo however I like the 15 inch screen better than the smaller UMB. As I'm new to computing and still somewhat of a neo Luddite, please suggest what else I can do with my notebook. What is the consensus on websites, programs, applications etc.?
"Mankind has been no gainer by its drudges."
TE LawrenceThere is no consensus; every user has different needs and interests and, in many cases, work requirements. Assuming from your prior posts that your computer is chiefly for leisure-time use, I suspect you may find iPhoto and/or iMovie fun and interesting to explore, and you may already have a large collection of still pictures or videos that you'll eventually want to organize and manipulate with those applications. Google Earth (a free downloadable application) is endlessly fascinating to me and many other people, and makes good use of your MBP's power if you have a good broadband internet connection. (If you don't, forget it.) You can, of course, buy and sell things online if you're inclined, do your banking online, and research places to go and things to do and see. You can keep track of your investments and your budget, make an insurance inventory of your home and its contents, write your will, design greeting cards and scrapbooks, keep a diary, create artwork, write a book, play games, fly a virtual airplane, learn bridge, typing or Swahili, visit the online virtual collections of museums around the world, design your home landscape or a new house, take online college courses, or carry on audio and video conversations with friends and relatives anywhere on earth for free, using Skype. Need I go on?

It's helpful for Mozilla's engineers to be able to measure how Firefox behaves in the real world. The Telemetry feature provides this capability by sending performance and usage info to us. As you use Firefox, Telemetry measures and collects non-personal information, such as memory consumption, responsiveness timing and feature usage. It then sends this information to Mozilla on a daily basis and we use it to make Firefox better for you.
Telemetry is an opt-in feature. Bring it to meHi Terrancecallins,
I understand that you would like to opt-in for the Telemetry feature in your Firefox browser. Thank you for your interest in helping to make Firefox better!
Here is the help article explaining how to turn on this feature:

Can I do an exit survey when people leave an Adobe Connect meeting?
I'm looking to do an exit survey on Adobe Connect 9. I would like to have participants navigate to an page with a survey when they leave the webinar... is this possible? The only solution I have found so far is to use the "browse to" function in the weblinks and navigate participants there before they leave.
Another question is about recording breakout rooms. Is this possible?
Thanks.Hi fairchilr,
There are several ways to get feedback from your participants:
1. Like you mentioned, use Weblinks pod that will direct them to a website where they can fill the survey.
2. Use one of the Adobe Connect extensions. for instance: Survey SWF (http://www.adobe.com/in/products/adobeconnect/feature-details/survey-swf.html) is one such great extension to create surveys from within your meeting room.
3. Use Poll Pod to get the feedback. Do remember to close the poll after all your participants have filled in as only after closing the poll will the reporting of the poll happen.
4. use Adobe presenter to create a quiz having survey question, reporting of which will also be taken care of by Connect.
Regarding recording the Breakout roms, this aint possible, Only activities in the main meeting room will be recorded.
Hope this info helps!

How to find database options features used?
Hello Oracle Gurus,
Can someone please tell me how can I find whether a database features is used in the database? e.g. I have a installation with partitioning, label security , etc installed but not sure which of these features is used.
I could query dba_tab_partitions, for example, to find if there are any partitioned tables in the database. Are there similar views/tables that I can use to find all non standard (extra cost) options like label security, data mining, streams, advanced secuirty, etc.? Can please someone reply with relavant view/table names or queries?
Thanks,
SantoshIn 10g (at least in 10gR2 that I'm checking), there are the DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS and DBA_HIGH_WATER_MARK_STATISTICS views. These are normally accessible through the 10g OEM webpage (administration -> database feature usage) but you can just as easily use query the views themselves.

David Kidder | Senior SDET | Microsoft | LightSwitchHi Dave,
you seem to be the only one who tries to communicate with us which is great:-). I think it doesnt make much sense to ask if we develop any new apps in Lightswitch. You should probaby ask something like "would LS be a tool of your choice for a new project
if LS and mainly SL was actively developed and supported?". And my answer would be YES, YES, YES, definitely YES, because LightSwitch (I mean it's SL client) is by far the most productive tool I've ever used. For HTML development there are other tools
and frameworks, more mature and more flexible and most of them are for free. To be honest, LS HTML client is (compared to the SL one) just a bad joke - doesn't expose computed properties, default values, localization is poor...(just few main reasons) but the
main reason why I actually bought LS was that I wanted to get out of that HTML+JS+CSS+bunchofothertechnologies messy hell. Instead of it LS offered a consistent environment with ONE language of my choice (no matter if VB or C# - both are great
anyway). So I didnt hesitate and put my money and effort into it.
Well, from the current point of view it was the worst decision I've ever made in my professional life.
Best regards
