Coldfusion, license usage
I have a server REDHAT, install coldfusion 10, i need know how many user non-concurrents, can use one license.
David, first, are you referring to users making requests of CFML pages running on the server? I suspect so, as opposed to Priyank’s thinking you were talking about admin users. Very different topics.
Second, are you asking about what happens on the free Development edition? Or by referring to “a license”, do you refer instead to a Standard or Enterprise-licensed version of CF?
If you have a paid license installed in CF, then there is no limit to how many users “can use one license”.
If you are using the free Developer edition (no paid license installed), CF10 does handle the throttling of users different than CF9 and earlier. In CF10, up to a few concurrent requests can run at once. In CF9 and earlier, only a few different ip addresses could make requests against a CF developer edition instance, after which no new requests were accepted from any other IPs until CF was restarted.
The new approach in CF10 is far more flexible, while still ensuring that the free Developer edition is not misused for production purposes.
Does that answer the question you were asking?

Logged-in Resources stat not the same as license usage
Hello,
If I look in Real-Time Reporting, the number of logged-in resources is 29. If I go on the CLI and run show uccx cad license usage, it's telling me that there are 26 licences in use.
What's the reason for the difference?
I've tried counting the supervisors, but that doesn't give me the difference.Hi Jemima,
Could you please cross check wih the UCCX's Real Time reporting ,Overall Cisco Unified Contact Center Express Stats report.
To access the Overall Unified CCX Stats report, choose Reports > Overall Cisco Unified Contact Center Express Stats from the Application Reporting menu bar.
Number of resources currently logged in.
This will give the accurate results.
Hope this helps.

Hi Folks,
Well I thought I was pretty happy with licensing, and what I understood was:
1. Licensing is based on number of concurrently active users.
2. An advanced license is used if an endpoint is allocated an authentication profile based on a rule which uses profiling information/posturing.
This shows my currentl licensing page:
and here's a summary from the front page:
Don't these two already contradict each other?
I've no idea where 28 advanced licenses have been used. No posturing in place, fairly simple setup, dot1x certs and MAB. Any tips for troubleshooting license usage?
Ver 1.1.4 Patch 3bikespace,
In ISE 1.1.x, Advanced license is the count of postured, BYOD, or profiled endpoints
that are active in session directory.
You can make use of this API reference guide to check the Active session count.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.1/api_ref_guide/ise_api_ref_ch2.html#wp1068744
The API to check for Active Session count is as follows :
https://MNTise-node-name/ise/mnt/Session/ActiveList
Looks like issue with Dashboard query . Dashboard might be taking the count of stale Endpoint sessions as well. -
System Measurement: Measure and report license usage - System Type
After a 'system copy' to create new DEV and QAS PORTAL systems from a copy of PROD the USMM (System Measurement: Measure and report license usage) process identifies the System Type of the new systems as PROD.
This was first noticed when performing a 'License Audit'.
System Type: PROD
(Ex: URL http://<server>:<port>:50000/usmm)
Where can the 'System Type' be changed after a 'system copy'?Hi,
You can change the System Type in Visual Admin under service Licensing Adapter.
Thanks

License Usage on CWMS Version1.5 - 50 Port Deployment without IRP
I am not able to understand how the license usage is being accounted in CWMS 1.5.
Currently I have deployed CWMS - 50 Port without IRP. The CWMS 1.5 is integrated with CUCM 7.X. There are 3 hosts configured on the system and the license count is increasing for every meeting that is scheduled. The license count increases only when the first participants joins the meeting.
I have tested a few scenarios -
1. I have hosted a meeting and I joined only the teleconference, Other participants joined the meeting and the license count increased by '1'
2. I have hosted another meeting at a different time and did not join the meeting. Other participants joined the meeting and the license count increased by '1'
Please Note - In both scenarios the Atendees Join before host option was checked.
I am currently refering the licenses usage scenarios posted on Cisco and has not found any resemblance.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/collaboration/CWMS/b_planningGuide_chapter_0111.html
Request your help in clarifying how the license usage counts increment.
Thank you.Hi Joseph and Benjamin,
I am not sure whether you have got the answer for this already, anyway, here is the explanation.
There is a defect opened for incorrect license count shown in the CWMS dashboard. You can check the defect details in the link below,
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCul57521
Our development team analyzed the above defect and identified the root cause of this issue as another defect. The defect details can be seen in the link below,
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCul03486
To summarize the above two defects, sometimes, the telephonic session in CWMS doesn't end correctly and stays active through out. Hence, all the meeting initiated by this user will have one simultaenous meeting always. This is the reason, for licensing count getting increased even the meeting is scheduled in different date and time.
Let me know if you need any further details.

Consultation on License Usage Report.
Hi;
From one day to another, the "License Usage Report" section began the following message:
"The system is operating With An Insufficient number of licenses. If additional licenses to cover the shortage are not configured in your Enterprise License Manager Within 59 days, you will no longer be able to provision users and devices."
The query that I have is that the aggregate IP Phone says "Unassigned" then;
Should I add a Onwed each User ID? What with that that message would be solved?
image.
regardsrefer the link which says
Licenses in the non-compliant state for Unified Communications Manager are enforced after a 60-day grace period. At the conclusion of the grace period,Unified Communications Manager enforces non-compliance with the following service degradation:
Devices and Users cannot be provisioned. Changing the configuration of a user that affects licensing (For example: the Enable IM and Presence and the Enable Mobility check boxes) is not allowed.
Devices and Users cannot be de-provisioned. Any configuration changes that involve licensing (For example: disabling IM and Presence or Mobility) is allowed.
you need to buy additional licenses to make the non-compliant phones work .

I was looking around in the 6120 via cmd line and noticed that the "show license usage" output shows that there is an 8 port license but than none are in use. If that is the case do what does licensing the remaining 12 ports do? What happens if you use two of those for northbound Ethernet uplinks?

ColdFusion Feature Usage Survey
Please participate in this ColdFusion feature usage survey. This is not a typical feature usage survey for ColdFusion. The purpose of this survey is to understand the usage of some of the old or not-so-popular features of ColdFusion.
The information gathered here will help Adobe deprecate/retain/provide alternate features in the next major version of ColdFusion.
Thanks for your time.Hi Henry,
Am I reading your post correctly, that you want to distribute
the entire survey
via e-mail? If my reading is correct, then my question is why
must it be done
in this manner.
My suggestion would be to maintain the survey on the server,
distribute an
e-mail with a hyperlink to the survey for the recipents to
complete, which
also allows for more control over the survey process. Further
I would do the
survey in three parts (pages) as such.
-- survey_page.cfm
This page is obvious and would contain the survey questions.
-- survey_processing.cfm
This page is where all the processing would take place, like
inserting responses into the appropriate database(s), as well
as
sending automated e-mail notifications when a survey is
received.
The last line of code on this page would be a
<cflocation> tag
redirecting the individual to the next page. By using a
processing
page, you reduce if not eliminate the double record creation
that
can occur when individuals click the submit button more then
once.
-- survey_completed.cfm
This page would let the submitter know the submission was
completed,
as well as let you provide any additional information you may
want to
bring to their attention. Could also use this page to provide
links to
thank you gifts, etc. to show appreciation for taking the
time to complete
the survey.
Anyway just my two cents worth on your post. I have done alot
of survey(s)
and have found this to be the best working process (at least
for me).

Hi Experts,
Do you know where i can find reason as to why one of the MDS switches showing:
FS1.DRC# show license usage ENTERPRISE_PKG
Application
ROnly Zoning
But Nothing shows up for these two other switches.
FS1# sh license usage ENTERPRISE_PKG
FS2# sh license usage ENTERPRISE_PKG
I have attached the "sh tech" output of this MDS switches
Thanks in advanceHi,
FS1.DRC have a zone with read-only attribute (EN12PR03_HBA0_SAN1DRC_SPA0) in vsan31, this vsan is not configured on the other switches.

Hi,
Create License usage is given to users who can create new reports.
The audit event_type (s) are linked to Create License Usage,
Event_Type Event_Type_ID
Universe Selected 13
Document Edited 22
Format Applied 28
Drilled Out of Scope 42
Does it also include the audit event Document Retrieved (event_type=11)?
Document Retrieved is for for an event where
1. Web Intelligence: A user has saved a Web Intelligence document within BusinessObjects Enterprise.
2. Desktop Intelligence client Events,Web Intelligence Rich client events ,Desktop Intelligence client events: User opens an existing Desktop Intelligence document
As it seems the second point does not need Create License Usage, but the first point mean suser is saving the web intelligence document.
So the question is Does Create License usage also include the audit event Document Retrieved (event_type=11)?

Dear all,
Looking for a way to audit license usage and requirements in E-Business Suite.
I understand select * from v$license gives us information about licensing per cpu/core.
But what about license per module per number of users - is there anyway to interrogate this information to find out whether the business needs to purchase additional licensing?
Kind regards

Quick Survey on ColdFusion 10 usage
G'day
Hey, this is not a question and I hope it's OK to post here soliciting traffic to somewhere else. It is not spam though!
I'm just running a quick survey on people's ColdFusion10 usage. It'd be helpful to me if you could read this blog article, and then fill in the survey linked to at the bottom.
Cheers.
AdamPer the ColdFusion Blog entry regarding the EULA, Adobe considers four cores to be a CPU - so a quad-core processor is one CPU. You can run ColdFusion 10 Standard on up to a dual quad-core server under the terms of the license. Here is an excerpt:
The power of a CPU has grown enormously over the last few years and we now see individual core in a CPU itself being as powerful as a CPU. Few companies treat every group of two cores as a CPU and also change their licensing based on the power of processing core involved. We decided to take a lighter stand on this. Our idea was not to penalize our customers just because we now have cores in the CPU definition. Four cores in a CPU is the norm these days. So we decided to chose four cores to be deemed as a CPU.
What this would mean is, if you are running ColdFusion on a 2 quad core CPU (8 cores in total, which would be deemed as 2 CPUs), you can still continue to run ColdFusion 10 on it.

Tracking technology license usage
I am looking for ideas/samples of how other Oracle customers track the usage/allocation of their Oracle licensing. This is especially complicated with the technology since most of it is CPU based and must be monitored closely as environments are created/retired. I would like to associate IAS, DB, RAC, and other licensing to the server used, instance supported, and other data.
I have searched for free-ware that I could adapt, but nothing really exists for this. It is all focused on searching desktops for local installs. Before I create my own spreadsheet/db tool I thought I would ask the greater Oracle community for ideas.
DougHi Doug,
I'll just start by saying that I'd like to see more posts like yours. Hope this will turn out a great discussion.
OTN is missing a licensing-related forum currently (as far as I know). Even though it is a matter that really could use some community 'crunching'.
We are tracking use and license metrics with help of a simple spreadsheet. For us it seems less complicated just because it is cpu/core/sockets based. I guess it depends on the environments and standards. (Keeping up with change in agreements and other such matters, on the other hand, seems harder.)
For the big picture, the different license models and compliance tools is becoming a bigger issue to manage. (a full time job role)
As a related matter.. with virtualisation it has become harder to manage the costs involved, if you want to charge (internal) customers per exact usage, and the distribution of costs for new investments (when crossing capacity borders).
About that tool... I'd also be interested in hearing from the community...! -
Hello,
Please find the attached,
can anybody explain me the devices seen in the attachment are unassigned, is it normal or any action has to be taken.
ThanksHi Clark,
. The Users row lists the total number of users configured on the system. View Usage Report for the users provides a report for all users configured on the system and their corresponding license requirements. View Usage Report for the Unassigned Devices shows the total number of unassigned devices (devices with no associated user)

Coldfusion licensing for failover server
I'm interested in setting up a passive failover Coldfusion server. Since the failover will only receive requests if the other server is down, can I use the same license across both servers?
CF licence terms can be found from here in other section:
