Coldfusion on Solaris 10

It doesnt seem like CF8 will install on Solaris 10 even
though it says it will. I have tried to install using the
instructions from Adobe's website but i keep getting the following
error:
./Coldfusion-8-sol.bin:
/tmp/install.dir.26470/Solaris/resource/jre/bin/java: cannot
execute
Has anyone gotten CF8 or CF 7 to work on Solaris 10 64-bit
system? I work for a company who wants to buy 12 licenses but if we
cant get it to work on Solaris 10 it wont do us any good. Can
someone help.

    Hi ,
    Can I install coldfusion in solaris 10 ? my system architecture is

    Pls suggest me

    Google. Search using keyword "coldfusion" without any reference to Solaris at all.
    Find Adobe and their web resources for their+ product.
    It was the first result from the Google search.
    See:
    [http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/systemreqs/]
    It seems you need a SPARC-based system, not the x86-based one you currently have.
    You'll have to buy a different computer.
    (It took me all of 30 seconds to do that search)

  • Is Adobe Coldfusion Enterprise V10 supported by Solaris 11 OS?

    Hi
    I have a customer looking at Colfusion Enterprise but want it to run on a Solaris v11 Operating System. There appears to be some confusion in some of the tech specs that  it may not be, so am looking for clarification.
    thanks

    Hello,
    Thank you for your post. You can try to install CF10 Enterprise on Sun Solaris 10 for SPARC, however the same is officially not supported by Adobe.

  • How do I create a kerberos ticket using coldfusion

    I have 3 apps on our intra net that require authentication and would like to use kerberos to accomplish this. This is my set up.
    users log in to the network and authenticate via active directory (all windows based) , Our web apps are on a box running solaris 10, weblogic app server, cf 9 and oracle 11g.  A group of our web apps on this sever require users to authenticate through oracle (not the web / app server).
    I can authenticate with kerberos via a putty session on the server with no problems.
    USEING COLDFUSION, how do i request a kerberos ticket and pass the necessary credentials to authenticate.?
    can this be done.?
    I am looking for a CODE SAMPLE OF HOW DO THIS IN A UNIX environment  NOT WINDOWS.
    I appologize for the frustrated tone of this post. However, after a week of reading documentation til my eyes bleed, to end up chasing my tail with no truly help info............
    TIA
    JB

    This is something your web server should do, not CF. Configure your web server to participate in the Kerberos realm. If WebLogic is the web server (and not just the application server) configure that:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/secmanage/sso.html
    If you have WebLogic configured to use Apache as a web server, configure that:

  • Apache mod_rewrite CGI Variables in ColdFusion

    I have an environment that consists of Apache 2.2.8 and ColdFusion 8 running on Solaris 10.
    I am attempting to pass a CGI variable to ColdFusion as part of an Apache Rewrite rule, however I am not able to do so.
    The Rewrite rule set exists as follows:
    RewriteCond %{SSL:SSL_PROTOCOL} ^TLSv1$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^.*$ %{HTTP_REFERER}?result=pass [L,R,E=HTTP_MYVAR:rw]
    The rule set works with the exception of the availability of the CGI variable HTTP_MYVAR within the ColdFusion CGI scope.
    I am testing for the existance of the variable within ColdFusion as follows:
    <cfif (structkeyexists(cgi, 'CGI.HTTP_MYVAR'))>
       CGI.HTTP_MYVAR exists as:<cfoutput>#CGI.HTTP_MYVAR#</cfoutput>
    <cfelse>
       CGI.HTTP_MYVAR does not exist.
    </cfif>
    Does anyone have experience creating variables in an Apache Rewrite rule set and evaluating them in ColdFusion?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    OK, as part of my work-avoidance for the day, I have replicated the work I did in NZ on my other laptop.
    I put this in httpd.conf
    Alias /junk C:/webroots/junk
    <Directory "C:/webroots/junk">
        Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
        AllowOverride None
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
        RewriteEngine  on
        RewriteBase    /junk/
        RewriteRule (.*) $1 [E=MYCUSTOMVARIABLE:mycustomvalue]
    </Directory>
    And my test code is this:
    <cfoutput>
    CGI.MYCUSTOMVARIABLE = [#CGI.MYCUSTOMVARIABLE#]<br />
    </cfoutput>
    I restart Apache, run the template, and I get this:
    CGI.MYCUSTOMVARIABLE = [mycustomvalue]
    How does this differ from what you're doing?

  • Upgrade Coldfusion 8 Multiserver to Coldfusion 9 Multiserver

    So I am working on a new web environment that we are planning to rollout in January and I have all of the servers setup, configured and ready to go.  They are running CF 8 multiserver and everything runs pretty great right now.  Now that coldfusion 9 is out management wants to go live with the new web environment on CF 9 so as not to start off behind a version.
    Platform:
    Solaris 10 (64 bit) : Apache 2.2.10 (64 bit) : Cf 8.0.1
    My question then is is there anyway to just upgrade 8 to 9 or do I have to jump through all of the archive, uninstall, reinstall and restore hoops?  Is there an easy method for upgrading the multiserver install?
    The oh so incredible documentation alludes to the possibility of upgrading.
    "The ColdFusion installation process supports the following scenarios:
    New installation     Install ColdFusion on a computer with no earlier ColdFusion installation.
    Upgrade installation
          You can upgrade from ColdFusion MX 7 and ColdFusion 8. When upgrading, the installer preserves the existing settings and installs in a new directory, automatically assigning ports that do not conflict with the existing installation."
    I have to assume that this "upgrade" is only possible for single server installs since the multiserver option is grayed out when you run the installer.
    I thought that I would post something here before I went full bore into trying to do it with the archive restore method (which I am hoping will work.)
    Thanks in advance for any input.

  • Upgrading to solaris 8 using a profile file

    I have successfully upgraded from Solaris 7 to 8 on an E250, maintaining the integrity of my previous applications. Is there a way to use a profile file so that the upgrade is hands-free? I can do this already via a jumpstart server, but is there a way to do it while booting from the Solaris 8 CD???
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    I've never had any issues with CF8 locking on emails, we send thousands without any issues.
    As for the script I have honestly never tried restarting CF from itself, but I'd try calling a Powershell script, which can do the restart in one move:
       get-service | ?{$_.name -match "Coldfusion 8 Application Server"} | restart-service
    Haven't tried it but that'd be a good place to start I reckon.

  • HOWTO Patch JRE on Solaris 8 on SPARC

    Hello, I have been blessed with inheriting a fleet of Solaris 8 boxes which I have to patch for Java/JRE vulrenabilities.
    Does anyone know of a HOWTO on how to do that. I just exploded the new JRE version in /usr and changed the link /usr/bin/java to point to /usr/j2res/bin/java. Now when I type java -version, it displays the new version.
    However, due to my lack of Solaris knowledge, I am not sure it thats the correct way. I see that there are some coldfusion pricesses that are running on the machine and not sure it they are gradding the right new JRE version.
    All you help and advise appreciated.

  • Regarding Cold Fusion8 installation in Solaris environment.

    we use Cold Fusin 6 on Solaris  platform with Iplanet web server.
    We had the plan to upgrade it to Cold Fusion8. So i have installed cold fusion 8 which preserves the existing settings and installs in a new directory, After insallation it is allowing me to start the coldfusion with root permission only. But this root permisssion  is granted for us for the sake of installation alone for few days. We will be having only the application user permissions.
    How can we make it to start cold fusion with application user previlege? Do we need to make configuration changes so it can be started by the application user id. (Note : We use to do start the cold fusion 6 with appl user only)
    Is it required to install the cold Fusion8 with Root  permissions?
    One more thing i would like to mention here that  during installation i didnt choose any runtime user when it is specifically asked. So the default runtime user  has been selected.It is "nobody".
    Thanks in advance. Appreciate your earliest response.
    Regards
    Sudha

    You might try setting ORACLE_SID=EPRC.

  • Missing data in server monitor under linux and solaris

    Some metrics are not displayed in our environments, specifically under the statistics tab, request statistics, active coldfusion thread, we always have a zero line.  Also under memory usage, "cf threads by memory usage" is always empty.  I have all three buttons at the top checked so they are monitoring.  Is there something else I'm doing wrong?
    Environment 1 : dell2850->centos5->vmware->centos5->32bitJDK5->tomcat6->coldfusion8
    Environment 2 : sun5120->solaris10->64bitJDK5->tomcat6->coldfusion8
    I'm specifically wanting thread info to check if I should increase the defaults in CFIDE configuration.  Most everything on the server is being delivered faster now that we are using a 64bit JVM and have moved to solaris in production (from windows).  But there are some sections of our cfm logic that are taking much longer now (2000% longer)
    Thanks
    Ahnjoan

    Hi all,
    does anyone can write some info why java Threads are
    recorded in the list of process (ps -ef) when you run
    on a Linux box, but not the same when you run on
    Solaris ? Which Thread support is more
    performant/stable that on Linux or that on Solaris?
    Thanks
    FrancescoLinux treats kernell threads as light weight processes and displays them as if they are actual processes - they of course are not, so the results of 'ps' can be misleading. Solaris fully differentiates between its three concepts of threads, lightweight processes and processes and 'ps' only shows actual processes.
    Both implementations in Linux and Solaris perform well.
    By the way, Solaris 8 has an optional, slightly different thread model than earlier versions of Solaris (in fact it is more like NT's) and that can be more efficient for JVM's or other multithreaded systems running on SMP systems. It can also be worse - your mileage may vary.
