Collaborating on a book

A friend and I each have CC licenses and want to share files for a book we are working on.  I know that I can email her a link to a file, but is there a way I can email her a link to a whole directory? I don't want to have to email her hundreds of links?  Or should I just give her my login and password?

Send only to him using Plain Text. Open the last message you sent in your Sent mailbox, click on Message in the menubar, choose Send Again, then click on Format and choose Make Plain Text before actually sending. He should then be able to see them in a normal manner. I am guessing he is using Outlook or Outlook Express for this to happen this way?
Also put all attachments last in the message.

  • A better way to manage Notes?

We are a small team in collaboration on a book-length manuscript. My editors are inserting hundred of Notes into the document that I must cycle through and resolve each one. But I find the Note icon soooo tiny. When I'm at full page I can barely see those little guys. Is there any way to make the Note indicators bigger or something? In general. I don't see this Notes tool as very robust compared to change tracking type features found in word processors.
I just want a better way to manage the Notes flow.

I find using Notes in Story Editor to be way better.
    CTRL Y or CMD Y
Then you can Expand/Collapse notes in Story Editor.
Far easier to read and implement there, or if you need to switch back to layout just hit the shortcut again.
It's also useful to tile a Story Editor window and the corresponding document's window, to have both views of the content.

  • In APO Collaborative DP, can we call Planning books separately on EP?

    Dear All,
In APO-DP, I am having 6 planning books but we want to call  them separetely, means in group of two's. More in to this , if we click on one link oit should take me to 1st two planning books 2nd link to next two and so on.
But the problem is that for all the planning books we are calling same service (CLPSDP) from EP.
So within one service how can we differntiate planning books execution.

  • Looking for app to design a book

    Hello
I will try to design a book on arch, and I'm looking for the right software.
I've tried Libreoffice (a bit messy for the task) and Scribus (master page handling lacks some flexibility) for the moment.
I know this is a bit off-topic, but I would be very interested by your feedback.

LaTeX can't be beat when it comes to layout/typesetting. However, I do all my actual writing using Pandoc's extended Markdown syntax. I can think of three reasons to prefer Pandoc, at least for the writing process:
    - LaTeX makes gorgeous final products but it's syntax is tedious to work with compared to Markdown, even the more complex Markdown used by Pandoc. Block quotes, lists, citations, headings, footnotes and bibliographies are all much easier to work with in Pandoc since you don't have to switch between writing prose and writing code---you just place simple punctuation marks in the appropriate place to get the desired effect.
    - Pandoc can output to damn near every format imaginable (including different TeX derivatives), so you can use LaTeX just for formatting the final product rather than writing the whole document.
    - In contrast, LaTeX can only output three formats on its own: PDF, Docbook and (unless I'm mistaken) ODF. You'd need an extra tool---like, say, Pandoc----to convert your LaTeX document to HTML or EPUB or MediaWiki or something if you wanted to publish in a medium other than print (or one that mimics print as PDF does).
    - Another possibly less-compelling reason would be that Markdown is deliberately designed with the intent of making an unprocessed document human-readable. Most people should be able to open or print out a plain text document marked up with Markdown and generally understand what the markup signifies. This makes collaborative editing with people unfamiliar with Markdown possible.

  • Supplier collaboration with SNC

    Hi Gurus,
We intend to use Supplier collaboration with SNC, where plant will share component plan with supplier and supplier will comeback with constrained component plan and based on which plant will modify production plan.
These are the steps we have done:-
    1) Created BP as Organization for Plant and Supplier
    2) Created BP as person and assigned to plant and supplier respectively
    3) Extended product to the supplier and created TLane
    4) We are able to login into web portal for supplier view with login and password maintained.
    issue are:-
    1) We understand that, component forecast will come from APO and it will come to as demand. If we see Demand Tab and look at Order Forecast Monitor - > Order forecast details, it asks for selection of SKU and Location. If we select our SKU and vendor Location created, it says Invalid Selection......Not sure if we have missed anything.
    2) When vendor will confirm the plan, which key figure he will modify?? which Tab we have to refer.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    thanks,
    jaideep

    Hi Gurus,
Yes, the OSS helps and we are able to see product location in the Order Forecast details screen.
We are checking Key figure " Supplier Planned Receipt" which supplier will use to modify his plan against customer requirement.
Wondering this key figure is Non Editable for our case....then how supplier will enter his constraint plan?? Any help
Are we missing any customization to make key figures editable/non editable like Planning Book in standard APO?? plz help

  • SCM Collaborative portal - works internally but  NOT through Internet

I am posting this question this form as you have very good knowledge of portal and I believe  underlying technology of  SCM collaboration Portal and EP are same.
I am working on Collaborate planning in APO (SCM) - sharing SCM planning books over internet so that collaborators (customers) can access our data.  I enabled all the required services using SICF and published services using SE80.
Portal works correctly in Intranet (with in our network), But doesnot work in Internet, link/url doesn't not bring up log on screen and get error no page found.
We are on SCM5.0 (Netwaver 7.0) and using integrated ITS.
What other settings required to access through internet?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Book files stored in Creative Cloud not syncing

    Hi everyone!
We are working on a project that is stored in Creative Cloud to take advantage of collaborative workflow. Everything is working fine so far.
I've just created a book and added a few files so that I can sync styles, master pages, etc. This is working flawlessly on my end so far.
The problem comes when another teammate tries to open the book file I've created on his/her end. The book opens but it is empty (no documents listed at all). However if a send the book file to them via email or store it on a network drive and they open it everything works perfect.
So the problem seems to be related with Creative Cloud not syncing the book files properly. Any clue on the matter? We must store the project files on Creative Cloud so work from a network drive is not an option for us.

Yeah, you are absolutely right, we are using Google Drive for pretty much everything else, is way more faster, more reliable and is full featured (how about download entire folders Adobe or zero errors when syncing, Adobe?). And on top of this is cheaper (way more is you ask me).
Sadly, we really MUST work in Adobe CC for this particular project so no scape here.

  • Interesting discovery....Books in projects

this may be old news to some, but it has been a revelation for me..
I am collaborating with a writer on a book of poetry and photography...using Ap to draw from my library of work (130Gb). We need to meet and review the progress and current design, and she's not local to me. So, the challenge was to take the book layout and photos on my MBP to a designated meeting place, but without taking my whole library. To my pleasant surprise, I learned that *a project does not have to contain image masters, but can be built using an album of candidate shots and the book layout itself...nice.* All I had to do is export the project from my MP (being sure to "consolidate images") and import it to my MBP Ap library...now we can review the book design together and even look at alternate layouts, fonts, colors and photos....
    Sweeeeet!!
    cheers,
    david

I don't think Mavericks or the firmware that loads prior to the "internet recovery" option hacks anything.  I just am curious to know how it downloaded the recovery files it required whilst I haven't typed in security keys for my wifi.   I imagine that since I had it on wifi while the OS was still functional, that the passwords were saved somewhere (but not the OS since it was dead at that point), but I am really unsure what or how, so that's why I am curious.
It seems you're right. I booted in recovery mode, and was asked to enter my wifi key. What I don't understand is why sometimes you don't have to.
    CPL_lib wrote:
The recovery HD is then part of the main hard drive?  When I selected to partition the main hard-drive, I purposely chose to partition the whole thing as 1 thing.   I then checked later with iPartition, and the recovery drive shows up as a seperate device, not a volume on the main partition, nor a hidden volume on the main partition.
If you go to 'About this Mac', More, System report (sorry, I must translate as I don't have an English system), under SATA/SATA Express section, you'll see a Recovery HD volume.
So MacOS creates a hidden volume on main HDD.

  • Collaboration with captivate

    Hi,
We have just set up a team of 5 using Elearning suite 2 and other Cs5 projects
Previously we all went our own seperate ways and each person did everything for their project
Now we want different people to get images, sound video and put them together.
So how do people work collaboratively with Captivate
    1. What do people use to assign tasks/track bugs to people ?
    2. What do people use to book in assets/control versions ?
    from adobe help
From Bridge, you can place selected assets in Adobe Captivate by dragging them into Adobe Captivate or using the In Captivate option from the Place menu
Select File > Place > In Captivate.
    thank-you
    Nymicat

    Hello Nymicat,
Some of the workflows which might help with this kinds of situation is Roundtripping with Photoshop, Soundbooth and Flash. For Ex, if Graphic Designer creates a PSD image and shares with the person working with Captivate and he imports the PSD, next time when the PSD is changed, Captivate can alert the user who is using captivate that the PSD has changed and whether he wants to re-import. Same thing happens with Flash Roundtripping also.
Also, reviewing is very easy with Captivate's features like SWF Commenting and Collaborating with Acrobat.com.
Currently Captivate cannot do version control and there are many softwares available for the same.
    Thanks,
    Vish

  • Collaborative planning - Need insight

    Planning Guru,
Need some insight on collaborative planning?
Let us take an example of supplier collaboration. Using CP, I can create replenishment order. Supplier can view it also. But how these PO will be translated into some sort of sales orders? I can replenish materials using min-max also. The end result of both process are Req/PO. After that, both systems are unable to translate supplier demand into supply.
Whether CP is meant to just publish supply and demand data to supplier and supplier can create ASN? I can create ASN in CP, but isupplier can also create ASN.
May be this is a wrong question but don't you think now a days companies operate in more automated and integrated mode. Nobody has manpower to go and review the planned orders. Usually business rules are set and things are driving in automated fashion....
    Just wanted to know following:
    1) How are you using CP and in which business environment?
    2) If you are using CP, how are you downloading data from CP to supplier system? Whether you use some customization?
    3) Forecast, PO etc can be sent via different mechanism, take an example excel also, what extra benefits we have using CP?
I am exploring supplier collaboration for an aviation company. One specific supplier replenishes parts from our locations. We can use min-max for replenishment very easily. We can also use ASCP to recommend and release ‘planned orders’ specific to this supplier. I need to know what benefit we will get using CP in this case? Don’t you think after using CP also, we will end up writing custom code to integrate supplier system and Oracle to manage our purchase orders and supplier’s Sales orders.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Vikrant

    Hi Rajkumar,
    A) The following are the settings required for collaborative planning
    1) User settings with authorisation object C_APO_CLPU
    2) Use transaction /SAPAPO/CLPSDP_USER for settings related to
    collaborative planning
    3) The prerequisites are planning area, planning book for
    collaborative to be maintained
    4) Web browser access settings needs to be maintained
    5) collaborative planning workflow are to be made
    6) /SAPAPO/CLP_SETTINGS - Collaboration Partners to be done
    7) Regarding no of customers, it depends upon the internet
transaction server.  I suggest you can check with SAP on this
    by raising a OSS message

XI is the middle ware tool which is used to integrate the SAP and Non SAP system.
    Purpose
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape:
    ● Modeling and design of messages, transformations, and cross-component integration processes
    ● Configuration options for managing collaborative processes and message flow
    ● Runtime for message and process management
    ● Adapter Engine for integrating heterogeneous system components
    ● Central monitoring for monitoring message flow and processes
SAP XI supports internal company scenarios and cross-company scenarios.
    XI has following components:
    1) Design and Configuration time components http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0d/5ab43b274a960de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    2) Mappings

Most of the questions asked are scenario based questions and maximum of questions will come from mapping and adapters.ss
Integration Builder: A client-server framework for accessing and editing two stores of Shared Collaboration knowledge. It has two parts, which are fat clients to SLD where we can import the objects and use them locally. The basic reason for separating Integration Repository from Integration Directory is because by separating design time activities from configuration time activities, SAP can ship content from the Integration Repository, which each customer can implement for their specific landscape in the Integration Directory.
Integration Repository: It is used for the design and development of interface, Process and Mapping objects that are used to implement Integration Scenarios. Usually they contain static objects, which can be used for different landscapes by defining the routing rules in Integration Directory.
Integration Directory: They contain dynamic objects where in we configure scenarios using the objects from Integration Repository and route the messages between systems.
Integration Server: This component provides run time for XI. This is central processing engine of XI.
Business Process Engine: Business Process Engine enables SAP Netweaver with BPM capability by processing integration processes at runtime. BPE uses functions of the workflow engine and generates workflow from integration process at runtime.
Integration Engine: Integration engine enables processing of XML messages that are exchanged between applications in heterogeneous system landscapes. Using adapters such as IDoc, http, it can process IDocs(Intermediate documents), http requests and Remote Function Calls. It is runtime environment of SAP Exchange Infrastructure, which has the task of receiving, processing and forwarding XML messages. Processing is done with the evaluation of Collaboration agreements, by determination of receivers and execution of mapping programs.
Adapter Engine: Adapter engine is used to connect Integration Engine to SAP systems and external systems. Various types of adapters are provided to convert XML and HTTP based messages to the specific message protocol and format required by the partner systems and vice-versa. It is based on adapter framework, in turn based on SAP J2EE Engine (as part of the SAP Web Application Server) and J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA).

  • What is the best way to sync Address Book contacts?

    Please help!
I run a small Mac network and I need to sync all (we have 8 Macs) the Mac's Address Book's with each other and also with 5 different iPhones. We have a Mac Server running Tiger and all the Macs are running Tiger. 4 of the Macs are Intel. The server is PowerPC.
At the moment I am just using 1 .Mac account to sync to them all, but this is causing many problems with duplications, errors and 'stress!'
The reason for the above setup is money. But, as the problems continue and the syncing become more important, money is now allowed to be spent.
My question really is, as the subject header says, 'What is the best way to sync Address Book contacts?' In the past I have tried XC Connect, and a few other apps, but with the introduction of the iPhones, the setup has become more complex.
If I were to buy all new Intel Macs and an Intel Mac Server all running Snow Leopard, would the 'Address Book Server' do the job? I have found very little information on the net and the information I did find was all negative.
Is there something Leopard can do that Tiger can't? Is Tiger nolonger a good enough system to try and run an Address Book network?
Does anybody else out there in the Mac world have a similar setup to mine, and if so, how do you have your setup.
Incidentally, ALL users, incuding iPhone users, need read & write access to the Address Book!!
Any solutions or suggestions would be most welcome.
    Thanks in advance

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.
One day SL will be better than Leo, but...
    I'd ask over in server...

    Or perhaps Collaboration Services...

They may even have a different opinion on SL.
