Collaborating on a project across subsidiaries

Hi there,
We are considering to use VISIO across subsidiaries for internal projects. One of our main subsidiaries is using VISIO and we as another subsidiary would like to collaborate with them. Do we need a sharepoing platform online? How would we set up the collaboration?
Thanks!

Hi,
In regarding the discussion, you'd better give us more detailed information about the demand.
How did you want to collaboration? Every stakeholder need which rights for the Visio file? View, modify or full control?  Did you need to edit file at the same time?
Then, we need to know why did you want to use Visio. Timeline, gantte or the other to control the plan of the internal projects?
We may try the following methods:
Share the Visio file in a shared folder of server
Publish Visio file to Sharepoint
Share it through SkyDrive

  • How to make project across two DVDs with one DVD menu

    Hi!
I’m working on a large project (3 hours of video with about 10 chapters, over 50 pictures in a playlist, and special feature chapter) and wondering is it possible to make an project across 2 or more DVDs, but to have menu only on first one? I’d like to make an project that comes with menu only on first DVD and when you click on e.g. “special features” button, then you get the message “please insert DVD 2″
Is it possible and how to make something like that?
    Thank you!

I would have EACH DVD begin with a menu. Somebody will insert DVD 2 first no matter how you label things.
Yes, you are right! People just don't want to read, but I'm making an animated menu in AE and it'll take about 300MB (rendered in .mpg). That is what I want to avoid on other DVDs to save some space. You just gave me an idea so I'll make some small menu for other one or two DVDs with just a few informations about what DVD is inserted and what DVD you need to insert if you want to watch something else from that project. Thank you!
I just have to learn better Encore and its capabilities and limitations (if I have time )

In our case, it is statistical cost center postings and real project postings. How can we get a standard report of Projects across Cost centers ?

    Hi Rebecca,
This is just a sample project.  I am not the original author of this project.  I just recreated the project, but I have a few problems.
    1) when I create the project I am not able to retrieve all the rows for that 2nd event unlike the original project.  I cannot figure out why the project crashes when I try to retrieve more than 50-60 rows for the 2nd event.
problem 2) this project was architected using legacy EF (EF4).  I have to remove all the .tt files in the designer and select "Generate legacy Code" in the edmx file and save.  This is so I can use ObjectContext.
Eventually, I want to recreate this sample project using DBContext for the edmx.
If you could figure out what the problem is when I replace the service reference in the FullClient, that would be very nice.

  • Collaboration Suite with Project Management

A customer requires that the Oracle Collaboration Suite to have project management capabilities. This includes gantt chart, task assignment and task list. Does OCS have any such portlets?
Else are there any such 3rd party products that works well with OCS?

    I have the same question.
Maybe the project management tools have appeared in the last release of OCS - OCS 10g R1?

  • Span projects across DVD

Has anyone come up with a solution for backing up projects to optical media? I can make it work with small projects (DVD-sized or smaller) but anything larger than one disk becomes problematic, since I can't both preserve the project file integrity and span across multiple disks in a filesystem-readable format. Most of my projects, as I suspect yours are too, are more like 10-20 gigs.

The problem (maybe I'm doing something wrong) is that
I want to be able to read the files on the DVD
without reimporting to Aperture. iView can read the
project files, but not once they get split.
That depends on what is doing the backing up - if you use a program that backs up files individually and makes sure they are not split across discs (the only sane way to backup, as it's the only way to be able to recover a backup when the backup software is gone as well!) then iView should be able to see inside things. What backup program are you using?
If I could make "smart projects" that were dvd-sized
and then export those subprojects, I'd be golden, but
this doesn't seem to be possible unless I'm missing
    something obvious.
Well a different answer to that is to make "dumb projects" that are roughly the size you want - you can figure a rough estimate by taking the average RAW size and dividing possible DVD storage space by it, and dragging that many RAW files into a project as sets until you have enough projects to hold all your images.
Then instead of using those projects as organizational structures, define all image organization outside of those projects in a folder structure under yet another project holding albums and light tables and so on. You can put images in albums under any project, not just the one they are in.
The downside of that approach is your structure and light tables and things will not be exported automatically with any given project holding actual images, but you could simply back that folder up to DVD along with the many projects you have holding images by exporting the folder/album/light table project which would be very small as it has no images itself and could fit alongside the last image project on a DVD.

  • OSB 10.3.1 Sharing projects across OSB Configutrations

    Hello,
I am trying to maximise code resuse by creating projects that are shared across different OSB configurations. Examples of such projects include those that have resources such as WSDLs and Schemas or XQuerys. I tried to do this using the following steps:
    1. I created a workspace
    2. I created an OSB configuration (Ocfg1) in that workspace
    3. I created a project (Common) that I wanted to share in that OSB Configuration
The first challenge is right here. A project seems to be tied to a configuration. However, if you inspect the project contents there is no reference to the OSB configuration that it is contained within. The association is defined in a file in the OSB configuration project.
    4. I created a second OSB Configuration project (Ocfg2) and edited the file in this configuration project (as mentioned above) to add a reference to the shared project (Common).
This second OSB configuration did not show that the shared project was part of it even after refreshes of the view. After restarting Workshop, I found that the shared project was now in the second OSB Configuration project (Ocfg2), but was deleted from the first (Ocfg1).
Thus within a workspace in Workshop, an OSB project can only be added to a single OSB Configuration project it seems. I could therefore create two workspaces, but then I would need to copy the shared project which is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
This appears to be a severe restriction of Workshop for OSB 10R3.1. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adil.

I know this thread is a little old, but the same issue still applies in OEPE 11.1.1.7 and OSB 11.1.1.5.  The workaround I implemented was:
    1) Put all of my OSB projects in a folder (for easy version-controlling)
    CommonArtifacts
    MyProject1
    MyProject2
    2) Create an OSB Configuration Project for each Project.  So now that folder looks like:
    CommonArtifacts
    MyProject1
    MyProject2
    OSB Configuration - MyProject1
    OSB Configuration - MyProject2
    3) Create 2 workspaces in OEPE
    workspace_MyProject1
    workspace_MyProject2
    4)  Switch to workspace_MyProject1
    Import Eclipse Projects:
    - CommonArtifacts
    - MyProject1
    - OSB Configuration - MyProject1
    5) Drag CommonArtifacts and MyProject1 into the OSBConfguration - MyProject1 (while in OSB Perspective)
    6) Switch to workspace_MyProject2
Repeat the import & drag steps
The caveat to this is that you can only work on 1 "MyProject#" at a time and you need to switch between Eclipse/OEPE workspaces to go back and forth.  But the underlying assets within those projects are still in a single location on the file system.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • Collaboration, Communities, and Projects

I need to determine what community a project is a member of. I have access to project objects however I can't find an api call to determine what community it is a member of. The data is available in the database in a project table. Thanks.

They can open Project Explorer from any of the intrinsic portlets, or from a collab project itself.
That is the only way to see a list.
Alternately you can provide them with a custom portlet to the Project Explorer also.
The link will be in the format:
    http://<YOUR SITE>/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_242_218_452_13925_43/http%3B/<REMOVE SERVER FOR COLLAB>%3B11930/collab/do/project/explorer/initialize
The PTARGS security from my link won't work for you though, unless by some miracle our portals share a lot in common:)
Another option, which we employe, is to create a community called "Collaboration" and add the intrinsic collab portlets and all of the Collab Projects to it.
We find that to be a far easier way to get folks to use collab than having them poking around trying to pick and choose in the My Pages (which we've recently hidden).
We have around 50 projects in the list.

  • Collaborating on a project with a PC User

I have been messing around with FCE and FCP for about three years doing my own little thing. A professional in my area wants to work with me on a school project. He is running Vegas which I believe is a Sony product.
Is it possible for us to swap files back and forth?
Also, I sent him an QuickTime movie that I exported a .avi. He was able to use that, I'm assuming if he sends me a .avi file I will be able to use it. Is that true?
My friend sent me a .wmv file, and I could only use it with Media Player. Is there someway I can import that into FCP 5.
    I'm using FCP 5.0.2
    QuickTime 7.0.2

Since he's a professional, he should be able to use as well as send you Quicktime files (mov).
It would be more than perverse if all he can work in is Window's consumer format.
    good luck.

  • Delivery from Project across company codes?

What is needed to Deliver from Project Stock in company A to company B?
Company "A" - required is Goods Iusse out of Project Stock...
Company "B" - Goods Recept was to be into Un-Restricted Stock, but if required will use Project Stock.

  • Video Project Across Continents - What's the Best Format to Use?

    Hello
We're going to be undertaking a project shortly where US students shoot half the script and UK students shoot the other half. In terms of editing these rushes together I was considering shooting in HDV 1080i50 then re-compressing into Apple Pro Res. Will I encounter problems when the US send me their rushes or vice versa?
Is there another way of doing this?

+I hear it can sometimes produce stutter in footage. Is this correct?+
There is an altogether different motion quality to progressive footage versus interlaced. If you are used to looking at video footage shot at 50i, and then watch video footage shot at 25p, you are likely to notice the difference and yes, you may perceive that difference as being a kind of stutter ... but its not really, its just not what you're used to. That said, when you watch high end dramatic productions on the BBC then you are probably seeing something that was originally shot on film or video at 24p or 25p.
Just don't go out of your way to give people a reason to notice changes in temporal quality ... don't ever intercut interlaced and progressive in the same edit.

  • Sync GarageBand projects across school iPads

I'm a music teacher in an elementary school that just purchased 50 iPads to use in the classrooms. I have a lot of ideas for music projects, but there is one concern I have regarding the use of Garageband.
I would like to use GarageBand to compose songs over the course of many classes. At the moment, I'm planning on talking to the IT guy so that I may reserve the same 5 iPads every week, and each group can continue working on their locally saved project each week. The problem with this is if another teacher grabs one of those iPad before me or something happens to it, then one group won't be able to continue working.
Is there a way to sync a project to the cloud or export it so that I can grab any of the schools iPads each week and be able to access/import the projects regardless of which iPad they were working on the week before.
As these are school iPads, their functionality is a bit limited. But the IT guy is open to suggestions.  Any ideas on how to organize this?
    Thank you!

Thanks for your response. I had tried this before but thought it wasn't working. On the master image I had created a web clip and placed it on the iPad dock and then restored via backup to a new iPad. The web clip on the new iPad was not placed on the dock. Not a big deal, at least all the apps are organized correctly. Thank you.

  • Sharing Garageband project across the net in iOS?

I am making music with a friend who lives in another city, and we decided to give Garageband a try.
Is there any way to share the project over the internet, som we both can record our parts into the same project?

Do you both have a mac as well?  You can download GarageBand for iOS projects to iTunes on a Mac, mail them or put hem into a Dropbox, and your friend can use iTunes to upload the project to the iPad.
I do not know of any direct way to transfer from iPad to iPad, unless you are using the same Apple ID and iCloud. To share an GarageBand for iOS song to iTunes as a GarageBand project follow the instructions on this Help page:

  • Exporting project from one mac to another

Hi, I have a project in Aperture 3 with referenced images stored on an external hard drive.  I want to export this project across to another Mac without the RAW files being copied across as well.  I had hoped to re-reference the masters (RAW files) simply by plugging the hard -drive into the Mac and re-connecting referenced files.
Is this possible at all ?
    regards

When you export as a lbrary you have the option of not including any referenced masters into the library:
Just make sure Consolidate masters into exported library is not checked.
When you get this library over to the other Mac and connect the HD with the masters on it you probaply will have to run File->Locate Referenced Files to reconect the masters. But Aperture uses UUID's to identify disks so you might get lucky and not have to do this step.
