Collaboration on iPads

Dear iPad-Family,
We are in a team of 3 people and we all have iPads.
I'm looking for an App/Service where I can put ONE ToDo-List on something like a cloud-service ...
... and every member of the team can open the file and can add some issues on the list or change the status...
... means: can EDIT the file. The System should be always synchronized.
I tried Dropbox. There I can open the file to REVIEW but not to EDIT.
There MUST be a solution !
Thank you
Michael

Have you tried icloud? Using the notes app or Reminders app?
It's kind of made for that...
but you need to know how to get it to work.
What you do is create a master icloud account that everyone access', but only as a notes cloud.
It's a little convoluted but here goes.
Choose one person to have the main icloud notes master account.
Their icloud account will house the Reminders list, or notes app list that everyone can see and play with.
Then go to the next iPad, open settings, then the 'Mail, Contacts Calendars' settings.
Add and account,
Type in the details of the "master" icloud account.
So it looks like you are connecting to it for email...
Now here is the key!
Once it is made (or possibly you can do this after typing in the details) turn of all sync settings except for Notes and or Reminders.
So you don't want it to sync the mail, or contacts e.t.c
Now when you open the notes app, you will see a tiny "Accounts" pointer in the top right (in wide screen).
You can then just see the join accounts notes, and edit them.
They will automogically update in the other device via cloud.
I use this to sync between my iPhone and iPad.
Then I also have seperate icloud back ups for data and apps.
This way you get 5Gb stroage for data, and also shared information.
Best of both worlds.
Hope it makes sense.

  • How do my wife and I both edit a shared document on our iPads?

We both use iPads as our primary devices. When I share a Numbers document with her through iCloud, she can open the link on her computer but not on her iPad. On the iPad it is suggested that she download a copy of the document, but then any changes she makes don't populate back into the document that was shared. Seems like a huge oversight to not provide a mechanism for collaboration on iPads when they are quickly becoming the primary, or even only, computing device for many people.

At this stage it is apparently only possible to collaborate the way you want if one or both parties are using the webapp, which is not available via an iOS device.
You can ask Apple to fix this via

  • HT4622 Collaborating with GarageBand using iPads

A friend and I want to start collaborating with GarageBand using our iPads. What is the easiest way to share project files so they can be worked on by either of us? Thanks for any help.

The easiest way would be to share the GarageBand Project to iCloud and and access it from iCloud. Only that would require you both to use the same AppleID with iCloud, and that is not recommended.
The other way to transfer projects between iPads requires a detour to your computers. If you both have macs, share your GarageBand project to iTunes on your mac, then copy it to your friend's mac and share it to your friend's iPad using your friend's iTunes library.
How to share GB projects from IOS devices to Macs is described here:
    Share GarageBand songs
    See the paragraph:
Send a GarageBand song to iTunes:
Tap the My Songs button, then tap Edit.
Tap the song you want to send, then tap the Share button .
    Tap Share Song via iTunes.
    Do one of the following:
To send the song as a GarageBand song, tap GarageBand.
To send the song as an audio file, tap iTunes, then tap Share.
After you tap the iTunes icon, you can choose the quality of the file GarageBand sends to iTunes. You can also add artist, composer, and title information that appears in iTunes.
Sync your iPad with your computer. In iTunes, the exported song appears in the Documents list in the File Sharing area when GarageBand is selected.
    Do one of the following:
Drag the song from the GarageBand Documents list to the Finder.
Click Save As, navigate to the location where you want to save the song, then click Save.
You can open the GarageBand song in GarageBand on your Mac, or play the audio file in iTunes (or any compatible audio application) on your computer. GarageBand songs cannot be opened on a Windows computer.
If your friend has a PC and not a mac, it will be more involved, see: Re: Loading a .band file back into Garageband (iPad 2)

  • Collaborative editing unable between two ipad users

I'm trying to share a numbers file created on an iPad (and stored on iCloud) with my wife's iPad to allow for real time editing, but seems to me that the only way to do it is using a web browser running on a MAC o PC (Safari on the iPad seems unable to do it). Is not possible to do it with numbers running on two iPads? How strange... Ought to be my fault.
    Thanks for your support.

Grrrr yes I also just stumbled across this very problem after I spent the money on the app for my girlfriend.  I've requested a refund as this is very very poor.  Iwork for iCloud pages talk of sharing, collaboration, ios, web etc etc yet in practice I simply can't collaborate  with another user on an ios device using safari or Numbers app.
    Very disappointing.
Share document links with others instead of sending out lots of separate attachments. Then make instant progress by editing together in real time. See who’s in the document and follow their cursor as they make edits alongside you. You’ve never had a closer working relationship. With people so far away.

  • Mac won't open pages from iPad.

I have emailed a pages document from my ipad, saved it on my mac and it wont open. It always has before the latest IOS version was installed on the ipad.
It says i need a newer version and directs me to the app store.
Software is all up to date on the Mac
do i have to pay for a new version of pages? or should it be automatic to receive the new version so that the two are compatable?
    help please
    thanks

As the system is not reporting any new software for my Mac pages, does this mean it won't be compatable with my iPad pages?
And here is the kicker.... you need to update the whole Mac operating system first.
You need to be running OSX 10.9, once you have downloaded this 'free' update, then you need to update pages to Pages 5.0
Once this is done, then you can 'easily collaborate' with the iPad.
What OS on the Mac are you running? (Check under the Apple drop down menu, then select "About this Mac")
And What version of Pages are you using (Check under the Pages drop down menu, then select "About Pages")
You need to be on OSX 10.9 and Pages 5.0
Sadly Apple decided not to warn iPad users that they were taking collaboration away unless you update every Apple product in one go.

  • How can I export a garageband song from one Ipad to another?

I am collaborating on a music project with someone who lives far away.  We both have Ipads, same model, both have Garageband.  He emailed me a copy of a song, but there does not seem to be a way to easily import it to my garageband so I can add tracks to it. Is it possible?  I did a search but did not find an article related to doing this.

And it can only be transferred to a MAC, right?
You can transfer it to a Mac with iTunes or iCloud. When two devices are using the same AppleID you can transfer with iCloud between iPads, iPhones, etc.Only iCloud is not feasable, since you would not want to use the same AppleID.
If you have access to PCs, see turingtest2's workaround for PCs , using iFunbox:

  • I am unable to add hotmail account into my ipad 2.  Hotmail says the problem is with apple since I can access the account in all other devices except my ipad. I need to get pass, "unable to verify my account information"  Apple personnel appear helpless

I have an Ipad2 and have tried severally to re-add my hotmail account but couldn't.  In collaboration with Apple personnel today (10/17/2012), we routed the Settings and General via the home page but solution appears elusive.  I can't get pass "Unable to verify your account information"  Hotmail feedback has it that the problem is with the iPad since I can access the hotmail account on my laptop, desktop, and smart phone,  Can someone please help me in this matter.

I see you have resolved this problem but for anyone else trying to sort out their Hotmail account on their iPad try the following:
Try deleting your Hotmail account from your iPad/iPhone (making sure you can access your emails from your PC or other device as all your email history will also be deleted). Then under Settings go to 'Add an account' and click 'Other'(don't use the Hotmail heading). Fill in the required details for your Hotmail account and wait for account to be verified. This has just worked for me. Good luck!

  • Opening calendar attachments on iPad 2

I have an iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1.I have a question though, I have a PC which is running Outlook 2003, with an Exchange 2003 server. When I set up and calendar entry and attach some documents for a meeting, I can see the attachments and open them on my PC. On a Mac Powerbook running Entourage I can open the calendar and open the attachment, but on my iPad 2, I can see the calendar entry but I cannot open the attachments.......is this a flaw in Calendar or am I being stupid????

Document transfer through meshed peer to peer networking is the perfect example of a dysfunctional office environment.
Wasted bandwidth disseminating the same 30MB slide Deck file to 50 people through "attachments" when a link to an NAS that is on a proper share point with documentation management policies to ensure everyone is using the most up to date information is how information collaboration is done with efficiency.
It's not a "semi-solution" it's the way that organizations who value documentation integrity, network efficiency, and successful collaboration across different hardware platforms conduct business.
Who wants to download 'hundreds of emails' and calendar invites with attached binaries every day on a cellular connection from exchange servers that could be virtualized, running unoptimized infrastructure giving the ios based mobile devices "terminal checking for mail" syndrome because webmail based exchange authentication gets last priority?
    Not me.
What if the documentation changed when the calendar invite and attachment arrived in your inbox, and now it's two weeks later and 5 revisions had been made to the document?
Maybe that's why you have over a hundred emails a day. Everyone pushing revised documents in re: threads that simply say "update" with and the time punched in by the user even thigh email is auto time stamped.
    Pitty.

  • Is this the solution for my business to create collaboration and ease of access of information?

I think this service may be the solution to my needs....if it works the way I'm understanding it.  Let me know if there is something else offered. Here is my scenario:  I have a chain of command with 4 people.  Person number 1, needs to meet with a client and ask questions and fill their response on the ipad via a form/digital pdf. From there they need it available to Person number 2 and 3 to review and comment in a collaborative space, along with add on to the form itself when the meet with this same client.  From here all this information is sent to person number 4 for review and additional comments.
At this point tho, the information should still be available to anyway I deem needing to know this information on this client.  How much control do I have on who see's this clients information.  Does adobe protect this information as well from a HIPPA standpoint. Is this really how this adobe pdf service works?
    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the response.  From what I heard on the Apple forums, it was pretty clear that creating hyperlinks within the video was something that Flash could definitely do.
I guess I'm curious to hear whether it's easy since I know nothing about Flash!  If ithere's going to be a major learning curve, I might not bother and continue to tell my clients I can't help them.
BTW: If I wanted to import my video and create the hyperlinks, is it possible to export the video as a quicktime file and still keep the hyperlinks?  That's another important piece of this.

  • Is it possible to set up a jam session with a friend over the internet in Garageband on iPad?

Is it possible to set up a jam session with a friend over the internet in Garageband on iPad?
Or is there any other way to set up a communication session where we can do a musical jam session via the internet?

Garageband has no network collaboration functions that I know of. Whether there's some other software that will do that I don't know; perhaps someone else here will have a suggestion.

  • How Can I Achieve Collaborative Songwriting with Garageband?

    Hello,
I don't yet have GarageBand as I'm awaiting my iPhone 6, but I had an idea to do collaborative songwriting with some friends, where I start off with just a beat, and someone else adds bass over the top, and someone else passes that along to another person who adds keys over that, etc.  Obviously, this would be easily achievable by just exporting mp3s, but I'd like to keep the instruments all separate, so I was hoping that GarageBand is "cloud-based" enough to achieve this, where I can share my GarageBand file, if such a thing exists" with others who could add new instruments, change levels of both instruments, etc.
    Is this doable?

You can upload your songs to iCloud as a GarageBand project from iPone or iPad, but if you want to share it, alarmists would have to use the same AppleID.
However, If you have a Mac as well, you can download a GarageBand project from iCloud and mail it to another GarageBand user with a Mac. The recipient can save the attached project to iCloud and upload it to the iPad or iPhone.

sharepoint could definitely be acessed from a browser on an iOS device....you might want to start with the enterprise deployment guide..the question you have is a big one and there are a lot of operational issues.....the deployment guide will start with how to implement iOS devices in an enterprise environment...

  • Pages for iPad removes MS Equations. Please help!

I have a Macbook and an iPad and am trying to work between the two. I need a frictionless read & write collaboration between the MS Word for Mac and Pages on iPad. This breaks down badly as Pages app, even after the installation of MathType, reports "Equations authored with Microsoft Word have been removed". Could you please help me with it? Need a MS Office for Mac - iPad Word Editor full compatibility! Thanks a lot in advance!

    Minor thing, but...
Porting all those functions to a new platform would take years and result in a huge program.  And an iPad doesn't have very much memory to squeeze the results into.
Word for for Mac is already running with Apple api's.  Would have to adjust the user interface but I do not suspect it would be a major major port.
The thing is all a MS business case.  MS is trying to win market share via not doing a Word on the iPad.  Tactis like this have been MS strategy since MS became a business.  MS has been much better at business strategy than technology.
Remember Word run on the 68k machines with 32meg of memory. This was Word 98 which produced the same .doc format as all the other Word implementations until Word .docx came about.
Of course, this is countered by the fact the Microsoft provides a stripped down Word for Surface RT.  You need the more expensive Surface to run to run Word.
There are other word like apps to investiage.
