Collaboration rooms and Inner Page == embedded

Hi,
does Inner Page Isolation Mode has always have to be set at URL?
When we set Inner Page Isolation Mode to Embedded the collaboration rooms and collaboration detailed navigation are not working anymore and the browser is redirected to:
http://somecompany.org:50100/irj/portal?standAlone=true&windowId=WID1243256552687
Any ideas what could be the cause and how to fix it, besides setting Inner Page isolation mode to URL?
Maybe EPCM.doNavigate used in collaboration rooms requires that the Inner Page Isolation Mode should be set to URL?

Hi,
We are starting to use Collaboration Rooms and would like the Documents iview to point to our network file system, so when a user uploads a file he can do it via the portal or our network drive. We are using FSR's elsewhere and are wondering how to incorporate it into a collab room document iview. Our portal environment is NW04 Stack 12.

Hi Kris,
what you need to do is to create a collaboration room template that would integrate a KM Navigation iView that points to the file share. Of course, first you need to integrate the share via repository manager in KM.
I hope you know how to integrate the share into KM. For more on how to create a room template check the info in this thread:

I want to create Collaboration rooms and Discussion Forums for local portal. I am using EP 7.0 SP9. Can any body tell me detailed step by step to create these things?

Collaboration - Creating rooms and displaying to a specific group

Hi,
I am new to enterprise portals. Can anybody guide me in this context?
I want to create some collaboration rooms which would be specific to groups. Eg. The Students should be able to see rooms specific to their subject. The professionals should be able to view the collaboration specific to subjects that they have selected in their profile. Administrator should be the only user who can create rooms and manage it.
I see about the roles in the book but i am a bit confused.
How do i do that?

Just goign through the forums found the question unanswered. i have done the process what you have asked for.
1)      If you want to create Collaboration Rooms and assigning member's to the room created you should have a role assigned to you i.e. eu_role.
2)      To assign those roles go to User Management and assign to your User or can ask the System Administrator to do it.
3)      After assigning the role you will see New WorkSet assigned to you in the Portal i.e. Home.
4)      In the top Navigational area go to Content Administration. Click it
5)      Go to Collaboration Content. Click it.
6)      On the left side Detailed Navigational area you will find Room Creation link. Click it.
7)      That will open a New view on right side panel where you provide the details to create a Collaboration Room like
             a) Name : Collaboration Room Name
             b) Description : Give some description about the room you are creating
             c) Owner: Generally as you are logged in, so the Owner will be you, but if you want to change the user you can also do it.
            d) Categories: Select any one of the categories.
            e) Template: There are Meeting templates, Project Template & Team template, depending upon the requirement you select the required template.
                You can also create your own template
Process to Create Room Template: On left side navigational area you will find a link "Room Template Administration". Click it.
              I. You will see a New Template tab, click it
              II.      A view is displayed where you need to give the details for the creation of Room template. In the Workset option box choose the option where you want to create the template. Click next.
             III.      Add the role and give the required page permissions. Click next.
             IV.      Incase you want to extent the then you can also extent the template. Here you can select the user's who can use the template you have created.
             f) Choose the Room Type, it can be a Public, Private and Restricted and also in the add the members.
             g)      When you click the Select button a new window is opened, just enter the user's name and add them to the room created. Click next.
8)      A New Collaboration room is created and members are added to them.
9)      Now if you want to send some messages or documents to the member's then go to the Top level Navigational and there you will find Home tab. Click it
10) Goto the Work in the navigation panel select the room you have created.
11) Choose the member from the memberlist , now depending upon the requirement send email or instant message to the user.

Collaboration Room in Top Level Navigation

Hello,
We want to link directly from the Top Level Navigation to a collaboration room, and not have to go via the collaboration room navigator. I know about the direct URL to a room but preferable I would want to navigate to an iView that kicks of the navigation room.

Hi Simon,
when you look at the room properties in the room maintenance, you get a Room-URL.
Use the parts of this link, that come after "/irj/portal" and add it to the URL of the modified Default Framework Page.
You will get an Room embedded into the portal navigation almost in a way, you requested.
But if you use this approach, the detailed Navigation of the collaboration room does not look like it should look.
Does anyone know, how to fix this?

Collaboration Room iViews give error -- Database related errors -- Pls Help

We are on EP 6.0 SP 17 (Netweaver 2004).
KMC component was installed separately (Deployed manually).
We are trying to create simple Collaboration Rooms and we are facing some issues with the same.
I am following the documentation on SAP Help for the Room Creation:

We are able to create rooms based on pre-defined templates and we are also able to add members to rooms, send/receive the invitation emails. I am able to work with Instant Messaging also.
But the problem is that some of the iViews related to Collaboration Rooms are giving errors.
1. Discussion iView gives an error saying You do not have access permission (even the user has all the necessary roles assigned).
Log for this error is as follows:

Are there any database related configurations required for making the Collaboration Room Discussion functionality work properly?
Are there any KM related configurations necessary other than those mentioned in the document I am referring to?

Yes, we just started using Collaboration and this is our first requirement.
Which roles do u have?
I have all the required roles (Super Admin, Content Management, Collaboration, Collaboration Room Creation).
I know that these features are available in NW04 SP 17 without any limitations. I have reviewed SAP Notes 707730, 711093, 709354 and 946470 also.
This problem is with only a few Collaboration iViews.
I am able to create Rooms, Enter Rooms, Receive Invitation e-mails without any problem.
Any suggestions about any possible missing configurations ?

Collaboration Rooms in System Copy

Hi
We created a copy of a production SAP NetWeaver 7.01 Portal and we are using this copy as the QA environment.
In the original Portal (PRD), some users are assigned to some Collaboration Rooms and they can assign the rooms.
In the copy (QA), same users seem to be assigned to the same Collaboration Rooms, but when they click on the link to access the room they get an error message.
After doing a copy of a portal, should users still be able to access the Collaboration Rooms in the copy system?

Asynchronous document generation in Collaboration Rooms

Hi, I'm new in this KMC world, but not in Portal.
I have a collaboration room, and I need to create a document, in a collaborative and asynchronous way.
I mean the creation of a document kind of .doc, .pdf, or .ppt, but without using the .dot template, or .pot template (for example).
I know that exist an Synchronous Application Sharing tool, available with Collaboration Rooms, but what I need is precisely the opposite.
I need a kind of A-Synchronous Application Sharing tool.
Anyone tried something like that?
Any help well be point-rewarded.

I want to create a document in a ppt, or pdf format, but using some User Inteface provided (or developed) by Portal or Collaboration.
For example, do you know XML Forms? In those, you can input some info into several fields, and this info is "rendered" later as HTML. I want something similiar, but using PPT or PDF as "rendered format" instead HTML.
I'd need this functionality integrated into some collaboration rooms.
Is that possible??

Approval in Collaboration Rooms

We have a collaboration room and have approval process enabled in the folders. Once the document is approved we would like to move to a folder called archived. If we do that we lose the approval process and it appears you need to start again. We would like to be able to move the document to the archive folder and retain the approval process for audit purposed. I have approval and versioning turned on. Does anyone know how to do that or if it can be done?

How to restrict the news creations for members of the collaboration room

Hi all,
I have created a Project Room in collaboration and assigned members to that
room.I need to restrict the room members from creating the news and folders.
And also only Owner/Admin of the room should be able created the news and
folders and members should be able view the news and folder
One more query,i need to remove the room parts which are by default selected
for that room when select the default templates.
Can anyone please give me the solution on the above queries.
It will be very much helpful for me to create collaboration rooms with the
restricted permissions.

    Here I am explaining what is my requirement.
    I have created collaboration room and added room admin and members to the
    room.
    Then in the room maintaince -> I have added the room parts as
     News(private) and the role I have assigned to member.
     When login into portal with the member login and go to the news in the
      collaboration room, member is getting the permissions to add/create news.
      At this point I want to restrict the members of the collaboration room to view
      the news and only admin of the room should be able to post the news.
      how to go ahead for the above senario.

Unable to remove Collaboration room member

We are unable to successfully remove a user from the members tab of "Room Maintenance" from Collaboration Rooms. After removing the user from the list, we receive the following error: "Properties could not be saved".
How can we resolve this issue? Any input would be appreciated.

We had the same problem. At us we are synchronizing users with Microsoft AD. The user had to be deleted from the rooms before they where deleted AD - otherwise we got the problem.
If this is the your situation, add the user to AD again and then delete the user from the collaboration room - and AD.

Tasks page in collaboration room

Hi all,
In one of my collaboration rooms I'm using the Tasks page. The page that I'm using for this is located at:
Portal Content -> com.sap.ip.collaboration -> RoomPartContent -> Generic -> Pages
This iview works just fine in dev, but it doesn't work in qa or production. When I click on the iview in qa or prd, I get the little 'spinning wheel' for a couple of seconds, and then I just get a blank page.
Anybody have any ideas?

I was reading in Wiki APEX and I found this line mentioned as cons: "Page-embedded Javascript and uploaded images are not cached".
The question that I have posted many questions here how to enable the cache for Images and Javascripts but didn't get it right, is the wiki info right about the cache for images and JS?

the only drawback with #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# and #APP_IMAGES# is that it doesn't get cached by the browser. So each page request will transmit the hole file again. A caching option for the "Static Files" in the Shared Components would be nice :-)
About lazy loading with the #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#. I could think about a mod_rewrite rule which translates the additional file request of the JS library into a valid request for APEX.
