Collage templates in aperture?

I`m about to buy Aperture. There is no trial, so I just wonder if aperture has collage templates?
S

No, Aperture does not have collage templates.
Aperture does not support image or graphics compositing at all.
Aperture is a tool to manage and to organise your photos in a library for easy access and to develope your photos and to adjust them to perfection.

  • Looking for iPhoto book template for Aperture

I created a photobook in iPhoto and now need to add a few things that iPhoto wont permit ie images in places that are not on the templates. Therefore, I am trying Aperture since it allows me to modify templates. So, I now need to recreate a template in Aperture that is the same as the one I used in iPhoto. To speed everything up, I am looking to see if I can install the templates from iPhoto. If so, that would save me lots of work. Actually, if I could only import the photobook from iPhoto, that would be even better!
So, does anyone know where I can get the templates/themes that are in iPhoto and how do I install them in Aperture?

That is not a possibility - but you can do a page layout in Aperture (or any other program) and print it to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option to send an option of it to iPhoto and then add it to the iPhoto book as a full page photo

  • Templates for Aperture Books

When I create a book in Aperture, I can modify the templates and save the modifications as new master templates.
But when I go to another project to create a new book, the new templates that I created are not in the list. I see them only in the project where they were created.
How do I store custom created templates so I see them anywhere in the program?
    G5 2 x 2 Gigahertz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2 Gigs RAM

Daniel, I don't think that is possible. I believe the universal templates we see are built into the program itself, and the list is not user modifiable. I'm wondering if you can't just export the template as a template file, store it in a folder and then load that file when needed. I haven't tried this, so this is just a long shot on my part.

  • Collage templates where can I download free and safe?

    Please help:
The templates for photo colllages that came with my elements are well elemental. Does anyone know where you can safely and for free (no obligation) download a few others?
    Thanks, Tom

It is possible to make a collage manually - why not try yourself.
Click File >> Open and select your photos
That will add them to the project bin
Then select File >> New >> Blank File
Select background color White (or whatever you prefer) and add your width and height for your final image (set resolution 72 for web usage or 240 to 300 for printing) then click OK
In the pallet bin click your first photo and drag it up into the main window on top of your new background.
Click on the move tool and click in the center of the photo and drag to arrange it where you want on the background - you can hold down the shift key to maintain original proportions whilst dragging the corner handles of the bounding box to get the size you want.
Do the same with the second photo (drag it up into the main window) and use the move tool to position it.
Finally Click Layer >>Flatten image and save as jpeg. (Save as PSD if you want to preserve the layers for editing again)
N.B. as you add images they get dropped in the center. So you need to use the move tool to drag them apart. Click in the middle of one and move it around, and then the others until you get them positioned as you want.
When you click again with the move tool a bounding box appears around the image and you can drag out the corner handles to re-size your photos. Hold down the shift key when dragging the corner handle and that will maintain the proportions of the original.
Finally click Layer >>Flatten Image and save your collage - you may then want to use the crop tool to cut away any surplus white canvas, and then re-save as a jpeg.
Otherwise google for scrapbooking sites to find templates.

  • Collage templates

elements 12 I want to make a simple six picture collage with the pictures in same-sized rectangular blocks.  How do I get the template?

I think that you have to make your own template. It requires a little work, but you can tailor it to your liking.
To do that, first do the math so that the 6 blocks will fit your paper stock.
    Then do the following:
Open a blank, new file with the dimensions of your paper stock, resolution 240 px/in
Set up the Rectangular marquee tool. On the tool's option bar select Mode: fixed size, h&W based on your calculation
Open a blank layer layer above the layer created in step #1
Use the Rectangular marquee tool to outline the first box, then go to Edit>Fill selection with Contents:50% gray
Use move tool to position the first box
Duplicate this layer, and use the move tool to position the 2nd box
Duplicate this layer, and position, and so on until you have the 6 boxes. In my example I have two rows with 3 boxes.
Press CTRL+ left click on the 3 layers making up one row in order to make them active. The move tool has an Align selected layers icon on the option bar. This will allow you to align vertical centers.
Repeat for the other 3 boxes.
    Now you have the template!
Highlight the layer with the first box, go to File>place, point to your picture file A, and resize with the corner handles of the bounding box
Repeat for the remaining 5 boxes.and pictures B,C,D,E,F
You can dress this up - here I added a white stroke to each picture

  • How to make collage template myself pse8

I would like to be able to make a template with
rows of rectangles, squares or circles for collage work. Are there any tutorials
or can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

    Malloww,
There are several ways to do this. Here is one:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1NmVcTyaLz9i6V7cLOoH4fMslMKr0
Open blank , new file. I used background color=white, but you can use any color. The resolution should be about the same as that of the pictures which you will display, ultimately.
Duplicate background layer, work on background copy layer, and shut off visibility of background layer by clicking on its eye icon in the layers palette
Access the rectangular marquee tool, and in the tool's option bar enter mode>fixed size, and the dimensions for height & width. Drag out the rectangle.
Open a blank layer. This should be at the top in the layers palette
Go to Edit>stroke>inside.. I chose color=red. Make the stroke a good sized width. You can select any color.
Repeat steps 3 & 5 for each position. I have 4 for the purpose of demonstration. Use elliptical marquee tool for circle and ellipse. Hold down shift key as you drag out to get the circle
    Go to Layer>merge down (CTRL+E).
Access the magic wand tool, and in the tool's option bar "contiguous" should be checked. Click inside the 4 stroke boundaries, sequentially, each time hitting delete on the keyboard. This will punch a hole in each location. The checkered pattern denotes transparency
Copy, then paste your picture between the background layer and the background copy layer. I did this once here for demonstation
Use the move tool to position the picture
Let us know how you make out.

  • Is it possible to add extra frames to the collage templates?

At the moment in using PSE10 Trail, and the maximum amount of frames i can see that i can use is 19, is it possible to add more???
    Any help much appreciated
    Georgie

You can use all of the frames in the content panel. After arranging your collage and clicking done, you need to save the file as a PSD file to preserve all the layers that were automatically created.
Then open Full Edit and click:
    File >> Open
Then navigate to your PSD file.
If you open the layers pallet you will see that each photo in your collage has it’s own individual layer.
Select one of the layers (highlight it) then choose a from the content tab and click apply.

  • Editing slideshow reflections template in Aperture

Hi. I'm trying to put an image+music slideshow together in Aperture for playback on TV. I quite like the reflections theme in Aperture 3 but does anyone know if it's possible to modify the default setting so that each slide shows just one picture? Currently the default appears to show multiple pictures on each slide.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

The short answer is you can't.
A few times when I needed to do this I skipped adding music in Aperture and just exported the slideshow out of Aperture with no sound. I then imported it into Garageband and added the music there. You can save the finished movie out of Garageband with the newly added audio without re-compressing the video.
Changing themes is going to require another video editor to piece it together. Create separate slideshows in Aperture with the different themes and reassemble them in something like Quicktime Pro. Then open it with Garageband to add the audio.
Seems like too much effort to continue to use Aperture for the slideshow. Might as well use iMovie from the beginning.

I paid $175.00 for a Lacie Dual Layer DVD Burner and it included Toast Titanium 7 and LightScribe Software - Best of all works on MACs ONLY (not PeeCee's) and produces flawless DVD's regardless of Brand name.
No ink jets to buy! No paper to buy! No stupid bulky printer to have on your desk! Just a slim Stainless Steel looking DVD Burner that puts to shame Apple's own SuperDrive OR any Label or Printer kit on the market today.

  • Aperture's templates

    H! there,
Does anyone know if I can use Iphoto's templates (Photo book theme's or templates) on aperture? Or does anyone knows if the aperture has colorful themes like the ones in iphoto? or Is there any way that I can manage the pages color while using each photo book's themes? It looks like the photo book themes on aperture has really plain color, either white or black.
    Thanks!

What do you mean by upgrade?
Your signature states you are using MacOS X 10.6.8; that is incompatible with Aperture 3.3.2, so you cannot be running AP 3.3.2, unless the signature is wrong.
if you create your Books in iPhoto '11, you will not be able to view and edit the books in Aperture however, see:
iPhoto '11: Use iPhoto with Aperture http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7990
The choice of colors in Aperture depends on the theme you are selecting. Each theme offers a different set of colors, so you need to experiment a little to find a color scheme you like.
"Modern Lines" has nine background colors, "Journal" and Snapshots dito.
    For example, the "Snapshots" Theme:

  • Smart object in template: saving off each layer as a png.

I know someone must have asked for this before, however, I'm not sure how to phase it perfectly. I have provided many images to help me convey what I want, and I hope that helps. I make many mockups for smart phones and the like. Most of the time, when I present my work, my employer wants to see it "in the device".
I have a template of a phone (I grabbed an iphone just for the sake of mockups), and I load all my mockups into the smart object that makes up the phone's screen in the template. However, saving out each mockup can become very time consuming. Is there a script out there what will save out each screen once I have added all my content to the smart object? (In my example, the final result would be 3 pngs of the phone displaying one of the 3 screens)
    Thanks!

It there is no perspective distortion need like iPhone example a straight on perspective.  That would be a snap to do with a Photo Collage Template PSD and a batch script.  The template  could be as simpla as a background image of your iPhone shot straight on and an alpha channel the maps to the iPhone display. For example BatchOneImageCollage.jsx However that script would save a set of PSD files would contain a background layer. If you want a set of files the template would need two layers a plain white background layer a layer above it a cutout of your iPhone with the screen also cutout an missing., and the mapping alpha channel.  The saved PSD file would the need to be processed with the Image Processor Pro script the save PNG for the PSD and include an action that deletes the background layer or turns off its visibility.
Photo Collage Toolkit UPDATED Made Rotate for Best Fit an option in PasteImageRoll.jsx Edit to customize your default settings.
Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this.
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
    Documentation and Examples
There are twelve scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.
PCTpreferences.jsx - Edit This File to Customize Collage Populating scripts default setting and add your own Layer styles.
Four Rules Templates need to follow:
Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
    Example:

  • Photoshop CS5, Photoshop CS5 ex, Photoshop Elements 9, iPhoto, Aperture????

Okay.... so I am a bit overwhelmed with trying to decide if I should be upgrading from iPhoto or not.
iPhoto has been great for making my photobooks. But, on occasion, it has been a bit frustrating trying to get the right number of vertical vs. horizontal photos on a page. Sometimes when adding, if you add in the right order, configurations can change, usually in size (not necessarily orientation unless it is the fewer photos per page layouts 2-3 or 4). But, it makes it go really quickly to do albums as there isn't much engineering going on as you go from page to page (on occasion, I make a separate dummy album that has a different theme that I think manages my horizontal v. vertical issue or perhaps the number of photos allowed on a page (as some themes only have up to 4 or 6 photos per page and on occasion, I like to have more 9, for example)).
Primarily, I have used iPhoto to do personal albums. I intend on possibly starting to offer my services to get albums done for people and/or do slideshow videos for them. With that, I do end up, even with my own, photos from years past or current that have coloring issues or rips/tears/fading.
As it is right now, I have used iPhoto to work on the highlights, shadows, etc, which for me right now, is by trial and error.... I don't really know what I am doing and iPhoto doesn't seem to care. Fortunately, whatever I do, I can go back to the original, which I think is true in Aperture as well... However, I think I might have heard differently with Photoshop (CS5 or Elements)?
I have not installed any plug-ins for the other printer services in iPhoto (eg. Leather Craftsmen), but, I know it is possible a client may want a 12x12 album or some of those other shapes, sizes, cover options out there.... e.g. Shutterfly, even.
One other bit of information is that I am not just a candid completely amateur photographer either. I do take quite a bit of photos with my Canon Rebel Xsi. Not top of the line.... but, although I can should in raw, have chose to always just go with jpeg as this is a hobby of mine and I really don't have loads of time to just adjust all my photos... nor necessarily the space on my computer to put everything at raw. But, I could be persuaded otherwise, if I really knew how to use and really know what the benefits of it are (again, I know I should take classes or something, just don't know where to focus my attention).
So, what am I asking? Well, a few things:
    1. If my primary goal is to make Photobooks, which program(s) should I have?
    2. I understand you could have iPhoto or Aperture and then edit photos in PhotoShop.... Does that save the file back to Aperture/iPhoto or does it make a separate file in Photoshop?
    3. Which books, classes, etc would you suggest to learn the uses of such program(s)?
    4. Does the program you mention in #1 strong enough to handle typical adjustments on jpegs-aging, color casts, lack of proper lighting, red-eye (iPhoto seems to do okay on this even in the auto function, but on occasion, it sometimes replaces with too dark of a correction, or not fully complete.)
    5. Does Shutterfly have a print plug-in so I could make photobooks on either Aperture or iPhoto and have Shutterfly print? Or is that just available on Photoshop (unless I print to jpegs and then upload to Shutterfly using the Shutterfly uploader)?
    6. Is it really beneficial to shoot in raw over jpeg?
    7. If Photoshop is even part of your answer in #1, is it worth it to have CS5 or CS5 Extended with the 3D option?

    1. If my primary goal is to make Photobooks, which program(s) should I have?
iPhoto is entirely template driven, Aperture's books are very customisable and there are losts of online options too. Google a bit and see what's out there.
    2. I understand you could have iPhoto or Aperture and then edit photos in PhotoShop.... Does that save the file back to Aperture/iPhoto or does it make a separate file in Photoshop?
Yes and Yes. In iPhoto: You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
In Aperture, Preferences _. Export and set your external editor there. WHen you send a pic to PS with Aperture it makes a tiif or psd and sends it over. Saving in Photoshop brings it back.
Photoshop Elements is a good compromise between the cost of full photoshop and the features you'll need.
    5. Does Shutterfly have a print plug-in so I could make photobooks on either Aperture or iPhoto and have Shutterfly print? Or is that just available on Photoshop (unless I print to jpegs and then upload to Shutterfly using the Shutterfly uploader)?
You could look that one up at Shutterfly yourself, no?
    6. Is it really beneficial to shoot in raw over jpeg?
Depends on what you want to do... Really that's a massively basic question. I would check out some o the online Photo forums and see what advice you can find there tom get you started. You could do worse than look here
    http://www.digital-photography-school.com/
    7. If Photoshop is even part of your answer in #1, is it worth it to have CS5 or CS5 Extended with the 3D option?
Given the amount of your experience, rather than diving in and spending a whole lot of money, start with iPhoto and Photoshop Elements. Explore. IF you want to upgrade, when you're ready, migrate to Aperture and Elements. I think you're a good way from facing CS5 yet.

  • Using a Vector Art File as a matte for an image collage

II have a vector art file of a paw print.  I would like to use it with a variety of photos to create a collage.  I have the image files selected and the vector art file sized, but what I can't figure out is how to have the images seen ONLY inside each toe/pad of the paw print.  Once the file is completed, I would like to be able to flow text around the paw prints so I don't want the entire art board area to be white as this would effect my text wrap properties. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

  • Place images to a specific spot in a template

I am trying to create an action that will drop images into a specific spot in another document and save it with a certain file name. After the first image is dropped in and saved, I want my next image to do the same and so on. I have all my images cropped to the correct ratio and being pulled from a folder on my desktop. I have my template open in Photoshop where I want my images from that folder to be dropped into. Is this possible?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Melissa

    Melissa
What you want to do can be done but it is complex and actions have some limitations and can not use logic without using a script or two. File saving  can be tricky for an action will always save the same file name or use the current document name saved either overwriting the file or saving it to some other particular folder. Action that populate a template can be created but it will always populate the same number of images because an action can not use logic to find out how many spots there are to populate. There are different ways to drop an image into the active document you can paste into an area or just past in the image in as a new layer.  You can also Place images in as smart objects. Each method has some advantages and disadvantages. Layers can also be aligned with selections and layers can be transformed in size.  Your best off creating rule for creating a template and have a plan as to how your going to populate these templates that follow your rules. To protect the template from alteration you may want to dupe the template close the original and work on the duped version. When you dupe the template you can give the dupe a name if you do not name it the new document will have the same name with copy appended.
Scripting is more powerful then Action but they are programs that are written in a scripting language. Photoshop supports three languages. VBS, Applescript and Javascript. Only Javascript is supported on both the MAC and PC platforms.  Even using Javascript you may need to code the script to work on both platforms for I'm sure there are some differences in the OS and file system the may need special handling to work on both platform.  From you description of you work-flow it is hard to tell exactly what you are doing.   If you trying simple create a photo Collage.  You may want to have a look at my free Package for Photoshop called "Photo Collage Toolkit" . I have been told this package works on a MAC but I created it and tested it on widows and got it To work with CS2, CS3, CS4 and CS5.
Photo Collage Toolkit UPDATED Sept 24, 2011 added a script to replace a Populated Layered Collage Smart Object Image with an other image with resizing.
Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this.
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
There are eight scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.

BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
Note: Rags Gardner www.rags-int-inc.com Photoshop Collage Template Builder script Copyright (c) 2006 builds layered Photo Collage Template psd files. Rags's has given me permission to include a modified version of his script in my package. The modification converts Rags's layered image template document into a flattened template compatible with Photoshop "Photo Collage Toolkit" package. There is also an option that will instead create a layered image stack like Rags's templates are these are also produced if you attempt to create a template with more then 53 images.
Photoshop only supports up to 53 Alpha channels therefore with its design the Photo Collage Toolkit can only support collages with 1 to 53 images. I do not feel this is a big limitation for if you put 53 3:2 aspect ratio images on a large 16" x 20" paper they would need to be less then 1.9" x 2.86" in size if you wanted a frame around each and less then .95" x 1.43" on a 8" x 10" year book page size.
While the maximum number of images in a collage is 53 you can actually create larger collages by populating a large number of images into several collages and then populate yet an other collage template with these populated collages. Each will be placed into the collage of collages as a single smart object layer. You may want to save the populates PSD file as Jpeg files first to cut down on the overhead of having large PSD file smart object layers in the collage of collages.
