Collapse&restore portlets for public users (902)?

I'd like to enable public users to use collapse & restore feature for portlets (e.g. dynamic page) on public page. The collapse/restore button is not shown to public user even if I grant "manage" privilege to public on the page.
Is this feature, bug or HOW-TO? Any help apriciated.
Regards, Tomaz

This problem has been solved in TAR 2987265.996. It appears to be a bug! I would advise everybody to check the tabs on pages in version 30984 and 30985. Do not login to the pages, because then you will not see the problem.

  • How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user

    gurus,
    i'm using -
    Oracle 9i Database
    Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
    1. logged into portal
    2. clicked on builder
    3. clicked on administer tab
    4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
    5. went to the preferences tab
    6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
    7. logged out of portal
    8. open a new browsere session
    9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
    Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
    The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
    buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
    infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
    sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
    ideas anyone ....?
    thanx a bunch.
    hero

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.

  • How to enable detail view interactive report as default for public user?

    Hello all,
I'm currently developing a search results page.
I'm trying to do a nice view instead of a default table like view from the interactive reports. So in this case i enabled the detail view so i could make fancy designs.
all worked well and looked neat but however when i pass value from my search page using IR_ROWFILTER and clear the results page using page_no,RIR, it brings me to the interactive reports result page with the default table like view.
i have to press the detail view to get it. i tried saving it as default but it wont work. this issue is for public user.
if i make the page requires authentication, and save the detail view as default i would not have any problem. i could search and it will straightly bring to the detail view of the search page.
of course the other reason i found is because im using the IR_ROWFILTER and clearing page using page_no,RIR..without it,it works well but i need it coz im doing a a search result. i need to send search text from another page and put it in the filter in the search page. i would need to use RIR to clear it for searching again.
is this a limitation for public user? it doesnt happened for authenticated user though..
how can i make this view as default for public user?

Flip the report into Detail view on page load using an Page Load dynamic action with the following Execute JavaScript Code true action:
    gReport.data.view('DETAIL');

Do you really need this to be an IR? Other than the detail layout, do you require any of the interactive features? If not, try using a standard report with a custom report template.

  • Collapse / Restore portlet WindowState

    Hi,
Has anyone else noticed this strange behaviour with the collapse / restory link on a portlet.
On my JSP page I am outputting the various window states when I click the collapse /restore icon on the portlet.
    <%System.out.println("\nWindow State:+renderRequest.getWindowState()+"\n");%>
What I have noticed is that if I click the link to collapse my portlet, the window state is output as "NORMAL" and not "MINIMIZED" as I would have thought.
On restoring the portlet the window state is output as "NORMAL" aswell.
When I maximize the portlet by clicking on the portlet header the window state is correctly output as "MAXIMIZED"
Can anyone explain why this occurs on collapsing the portlet the window state is "NORMAL". Surely the window state should be set to "MINIMIZED" when this occurs ?
    Thanks,

What version of portal are you using?
It could possibly be that your user needs more privileges than just 'View' on that page. Try changing the users privilege to 'manage' and see if these icons then appear.

  • How can I put "Favorites"portlets for various users in a page?

How can i put in a page two "Favorites" portlets (one for each user that log on into the page and one for each group of users that logon into the page),so each
user can customize (add favorites, delete favorites,..) it's own "Favorites" portlet and the other "Favorites" portlet is only customizable by a
group of user,so if the user log on is not in that group can't customize the portlet.

The favorites portlet is set up to work this way automatically. You put one version on a page, and the customizations are stored for each individual user. So the same portlet displays different favorites based on the logged in user. At this point, there is no way to define favorites for a group.

  • Showing portlet for anonymous user on Sun Java System Portal 2004Q2

    Hi to all,
How can i show my portlet(JSR168) on Sun Portal server for anonymous users with saved preferences?
    waiting for ur productive reply
    ~Neeraj S.
    [email protected]

    Neeraj,
What do you mean by "anonymous users with saved preferences"?
The anonymous desktop does not contain any editable functionality. Remember, the anonymous desktop is shared by all users that are not logged in. Therefore, it does not make sense to allow anonymous users to modify the display profile. Notice that there are no edit/minimize/maximize/remove buttons on any of the channels on the anonymous desktop. This is because the anonymous user has a specific DP that removes these buttons.
Add a portlet to the desktop just like any other channel. This can be done directly to the anonymous user's DP. Add the channel and remove the edit/minimize/maximize/remove buttons.
Users can modify the portlet preferences once they log in to their own account. At this point the preferences will be stored with their own DP.

    Jim

  • Omniportlet for public user

    Hello,
I have Omniportlet based on existing web pages defined as user orcladmin. When I want see page as public user he ask me to define Omni porlet. Why?

I have recently been experiencing a similar problem on Portal 10.1.4 and have finally got to the bottom of it so thought I would share it here.
The problem was the language that the browser was set to (the browser that was used to define the portlet). The browser used to define the OmniPortlet was set to 'en-gb' but the OmniPortlet locale language in the provider.xml was 'en'.
I changed the language in the browser to be 'en' and redefined the OmniPortlet and then it displayed OK to all users. The solution was found on Metalink under Bug Number: 3573137.

  • Portal splash page for public users

I am creating a portal and I would like to show a tailored splash page to public users. This splash page will probably have some graphics and text on it, and also a link to allow the user to Login.
Each authenticated user will be assigned to a group, and each group will have a default home page. When either group logs out, the splash page should be shown again.
How can I do this? Should the splash page be in a page group by itself? (Note: I am using 10g.)
    Any ideas?
    -- Rhonda

    Hi Rhonda:
We did something very similar by doing the following:
    1) Create a new page group and make its root page your public splash page. Under access, make this page public
    2) Set the new page as the default home page for the portal
    3) Set the default home page of each group to their appropriate page
    4) Assign each user to their default group.
Now, when someone enters the URL of your portal, their see the splash page. When they log-in, they are taken to the appropriate page for their group. I think the only thing this misses is sending them back to the splash page when they logout. We had the default logout screen come up and users had to click [Return] to get back to the splash page. I'm sure there is a way to send them there automatically, but will leave that up to another forum reader.
You may also want to consider setting up a "nice" url for the portal so they don't have to put in the port number and the "pls/portal". You can edit your httpd.conf file in the Apache server to redirect a simple URL on port 80 to the right URL and right port. Just don't forget to reload the configuration afterwards.

  • Wwa_app_module.file_download does not work for public user

I have a dynamic page that shows images stored in the database using the wwa_app_module.file_download procedure.
This works fine if I login as the portal user, but if the page is viewed by a public user the image is not shown. I have granted the package to public but this does not help.
    Any ideas?

Don't use wwa_app_module.file_download procedure in reports yet.
The best way is to create your own download procedure by copying, pasting and slighty modifying one of the download_x (where x is a number) procedures in a form's package.
A form's package will have the download_x procedures if the form has intermedia/blob columns.

  • Make tables, views etc, aviable for public users, how could sql look like?

    Hey specialists,
I produced under my username several tables, views and sequenzes. How could sql or Psql look like to create for all items a public synonym.
where could I read more information about giving privilegs for tables etc to other users, for instance in dba-studio
    regards
    robert

    Hi!
Create a sql script for sql*plus like:
set head off echo off feedback off pagesize 999 line 120 trimsp on
    spool crepsn.sql
    select 'create public synonym ' || object_name || ' for '|| object_name || ';' || chr(10)
    from  user_objects
where object_type in ( 'TABLE', 'VIEW', 'SEQUENCE', 'PACKAGE', 'PROCEDURE', 'FUNCTION' )
    and   object_name not like 'BIN$%'
    and   object_name not in ( select synonym_name
                               from   sys.dba_synonyms
                               where  owner = 'PUBLIC'
                               and    synonym_name = object_name
                               and    table_owner =  user )
    order by object_type, object_name
    spool off
    prompt creating Public Synonyms
    set termout on feedback on
    @crepsn
set echo offThis creates public synonyms for the given object types of objects the current user is the owner of.
If you get an error that a public synonym is already defined, the obectname
is already in use by another user in the database.
After this you have to give other users / public access to your objects via grants.

  • Public Users - Minimize / Close Portlet

Is it possible to set up portlets to allow public users (users that will not log in) the ability to minimize and/or close portlet windows? The functionality works as expected for users that log into the system. I've attempted to grant access as the various levels (page, page group, etc.), but still the minimize/close images do not appear on the portlets when public users are viewing the page(s). I've also change the "Display Page to Public Users" and "Enable Item Level Security" without success.
Thanks in advance for any help provided on this topic.

Minimize/Close actions for is not possible for users who are not authenticated. These actions on portlets is treated as a personalization for a user. So without an user being logged in (i.e., the public user), it is not possible to minimize/close the portlet.
I will investigate this more and come back to you with suggestions if any.

  • On-Demand Process Running only for authenticated user

I have noticed that an on-demand process is running only for authenticated users - for example a download of a document. For public users it doesn't. I remember seeing a similar question related to ajax on demand in this forum but couldn't locate the thread. Does anyone knows why the process is not running for not authenticated user? The result of a download for a public user is a blank page where the authenticated user gets the file by clicking on the same link.
