Collapsing panel in Photoshop issue

hi,
I have a CS SDK panel deployed in all the 3 applications - Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. My panel has a login component and users need to log in before using it.
1) In Photoshop, when a logged in user collapses the panel, works on Photoshop and activates the collapsed icon, the panel goes back to the login screen and they are forced to login every time. This behavior does not occur in Indesign and Illustrator.
Can you please tell me if there are any workarounds for this issue?
Other discrepencies between the apps -
2) In Illustrator, when the panel is closed entirely and re-opened under Extensions > <panel name>, users are not taken back to the login screen. They are forced to quit Illustrator and restart it in order to re-login to the panel. This does not happen in InDesign and Photoshop.
thanks for any help in this regard.

As you've found, each application behaves differently with respect to lifecycle of the extension. Here we have a range of behaviors - on one end of the spectrum we have Photoshop which greedily unloads extensions whenever possible, and at the other end we have Illustrator which doesn’t unload an extension when it is closed through the UI.
For #1, you have a couple of choices.
Maintain the state of your extension somewhere that will persist between loading/unloading (e.g. on disk). When your extension is loaded, check this persistent state to see which UI you should present to the user.
Use CSXSInterface.evalScript(“PhotoshopPersistent”) which will prevent Photoshop from unloading the panel when it is collapsed.
For #2, you theoretically shouldn’t have to login again, since your panel has not be unloaded. As far as I know, Illustrator does not expose a similar mechanism for forcing an unload, although the Illustrator forum may be a better place to get a more definitive answer.

hey guys, i am very new, thank you in advance for your patience. i posted this in the spry forum as well.
i created a spry collapsable panel with 3 drop down options. when i preview the object in a browser, there is a blue box around the object, i presume to tab around the page. how do i get rid of this? i have done all i know in CSS, is this a JS issue? how can i get rid of it?

  • Problem w/ Tooltips & Collapsable Panels in Safari

    Hi,
I have a page that has Collapsable panels along with Tooltips
that are used for a help tip in each panel. My problem is when the
page loads in Safari, the contents of the bottom most Col Panels
are displayed elsewhere in the page. The Col Panels tabs and
containers remain where they should though.
Heres a page displaying the issue:
    http://dev.meetingsintelligenceexchange.com/planner/tooltip.php
There are 2 columns with 3 Panels in each. All of the Panels
have a help icon in tab of the panel that acts as the Tooltip
trigger. If you collapse the top most panel in each column then
reopen it, the layout corrects itself.
I can't figure out what is happening. I've tried removing the
help icon to see if the float is causing the problem but it still
    occurs.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Scott

ThanQ everyone for reviewing my problem. I solve the issue myself... ThanX...

  • Flash panels crashing Photoshop CS4

Flash panels crash Photoshop CS4 under the following conditions:
    1. The "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is activated under Edit > Preferences > Interface.
    2. The flash panel is collapsed to an icon.
    3. You click on the panel icon to display it and run a filter plugin from the flash panel.
The crash happens when you run the filter plugin from the panel or after you click OK on the plugin dialog. Sometimes the crash happens after the plugin was applied and you do something else in Photoshop.
I was able to reproduce the problem with my own ThePluginSite panel and the Blow-Up panel of Alienskin.
If the "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is deactivated, there is no crash.
Can this problem be fixed in Version 11.02 of Photoshop CS4?

What does this have to do with the SDK?  Does it crash in a plugin that you wrote using the SDK?
Or are you just trying to report a bug in the flash panel code?  If so, use the normal bug report form, and include details so we can work with Alien Skin to resolve the problem.

  • Collapsable Panel conflict?

I am having an issue with a page containing a Spry horizontal menu bar ( which works fine) and a Spry Collapsable Panel (which does not). The page also contains a WOW jQuery Slider which is functioning correctly with the menu bar so I do not believe it involves a conflict of Javascript vs. jQuery scripts on the same page. When I placed the panel it simply fails to collapse in either Dreamweaver's live view or on any browser. Has anyone seen this in the past? Amy ideas?
    Thanks in Advance.

Please post a link so we can see the problem page in our browsers.

  • I can't view multiple images in tabbed panels in photoshop CC (do not have this problem in PS5 or 6)

I can't set up multiple images in tabbed panels in photoshop CC (do not have this problem in PS5 or 6). Has anyone had this problem with CC and if so do they know the fix?

I just discovered something really weird.  If I open the images in
photoshop (and the tabs are not showing) and then open another window on
top of photoshop (for example word or safari) , then the images and tabs
show in the photoshop window.  But if I move Pshop to the front screen then
    the tabs disappear!

  • How to make my old file info panel from photoshop work in xmp

Help. Not a photoshop guy but rather a genealogist. Many years ago downloaded a custom file info panel for photoshop which I used to enter meta text about the family photos I scanned. Currently using adobe creative cloud but cant figure out how to use panel or see most of my metatext last few version. Below is information about the panel. All I really want to do is install my panel and get back to genealogy. I apologize but not sure I need to understand the basics of photoshop..
    john weis
    [email protected]
This is the authors description of the panel:
Genealogy Photo (Private Collection) Custom File Info Panel 1.0 for Photoshop. 11 FEB 2007
Developed by Ron Reiger [email protected]
Please contact me to suggest improvements.
    1. BASIS FOR THIS CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    2. DESCRIPTION OF EACH PROPERTY NAME
    3. WHERE EACH PROPERTY NAME MAPS & OTHER NOTES
    4. WHERE TO INSTALL THE CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
    1. BASIS FOR THIS CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
The Custom File Info Panel is used to capture metadata about a genealogy/family history photo that is privately held (that is, the photo is not in the possession of a library). The metadata property names on the File Info Panel are based on my interpretation of the recommended primary citation for a photograph (private possession) (annotated, with provenance) as described on page 95 of Elizabeth Shown Mill's "Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian" and on my interpretation of recommended primary citation for an Electronic File (Image from Private Files - Annotated), Mills, "Citation!", page 81. I added a few more property names for location and date the photo was taken and keywords (to ID people by number rather than by name), the name of the person who provided the description, a surety for their description, and an informal description. Each field is discussed below.
    2. DESCRIPTION OF EACH PROPERTY NAME
Date Scanned: This is the date the photo was scanned. Date is populated by Photoshop and is not editable.
Provider: The owner of the photo as of the date it was scanned. A researcher in a future generations will know who had the photo at a particular point in time.
Provenance: Describe as best you can how the photo got from the person in the photo to the Provider.
Description Provided By: List the person who identified the people and location in the image.
Description Surety: (This is an open text field. You can use any surety rating system you want.) Describe or rate the quality of the Description of the image's people and location. Note any uncertainties regarding any particular people in the photo.
Complete Subject Description: List the full name of each individual in the image, in order. You may want to list the location and date of the image even though there are separate property names for that data.
Informal Subject Description: An optional non-genealogical description of the image, perhaps for using the photo outside of genealogy. Example Informal Subject Description: "Grandpa as a young man."
Media Description: Describe the paper photo you scanned. Dimensions, border, frame, damage, etc. Your ancestors will have an easier time finding the paper photo later if you describe it well!
Annotations: Copy any annotations on the front or back of the photo and frame. Transcribe any photographer embossing/imprint; this is a clue for dating/locating photos.
Special Editing/Alterations: Describe any restoration you performed on the digital image. Did you correct for the lateral reverse of a tintype or daguerreotype?
City/County: List the City/County where the image was taken.
State: List the State where the image was taken.
Country: List the County where the image was taken.
Photo Date: List the date the image was taken.
Keywords: This is the standard keyword entry. Commas or semicolons can be used to separate keywords. I type the TMG ID number of each person in the photo here so I can search for all photos of the person without typing their name.
    3. WHERE EACH PROPERTY NAME MAPS & OTHER NOTES
I have not created a working namespace URI or rdf ala http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/ for this panel. I have not created localization dictionary files for this panel. Data entered into the panel will appear in Adobe Bridge. As you can see below I re-used lots of pre-existing property names and dumped all my new property names into the photoshop namespace. I don't know if this approach has drawbacks.
Date Scanned:                xmp_path: 'CreateDate'   Pre-existing property name
Provider:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Credit'    Pre-existing property name
    Provenance:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Provenance'
Description Provided By:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DescriptionProvidedBy'  Pre-existing property name
Description Surety:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DescriptionSurety'
Complete Subject Description:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Description'   Pre-existing property name
Informal Subject Description:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Caption'   Pre-existing property name
Media Description:   xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'MediaDescription'
    Annotations:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Annotations'
    Special Editing/Alterations:  xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'SpecialEditing'
    City/County:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'City'    Pre-existing property name
State:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'State'    Pre-existing property name
Country:     xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'Country'   Pre-existing property name
Photo Date:    xmp_namespace: photoshop, xmp_path: 'DateCreated'   Pre-existing property name
Keywords:               xmp_path: 'Keywords'   Pre-existing property name
    4. WHERE TO INSTALL THE CUSTOM FILE INFO PANEL
I have tested this panel with Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Bridge CS2 only.  It may not work on earlier versions.  FWIW a malformed Custom File Info Panel will fail to load in File Info; it won't crash Photoshop.
The following was taken from "XMP Custom Panels," Adobe, Oct 2003.
Each time an Adobe application opens the File Info dialog, it scans all the files in these directories and appends them to the file list. If more than one of the description files has
the same panel name, the one found in the last file to be loaded is added, and others are ignored.
Changes to the contents of the directories do not require you to reload an application; changes are automatically reflected in the dialog the next time it is opened.
The panel description and localization dictionary files must reside in the following locations for use with Adobe Creative Suite applications:
    Mac OS X
    {Root Volume}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels
    {Home Directory}/Library/Application/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels
    Windows
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels
    \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels
The panel description and localization dictionary files must reside in the following locations for use with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 or 6.0:
    Mac OS X
    {Root Volume}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Custom File Info Panels
    {Home Directory}/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Custom File Info Panels
    Windows
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\\Custom File Info Panels
    \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Adobe\Custom File Info Panels
I actually do not understand how to write a panel but here is the actual panel:

  • Adobe Exchange Panel for Photoshop CC 2014

I'm trying to get the Adobe Exchange Panel for Photoshop CC 2014 (Mac 10.10.2).
When searching for it on Adobe.com, all I get is the download for CS6. Is this the SAME Exchange Panel usable in CC 2014?
    Thanks for any guidance.

I'm having problems searching out any updates. It's like they silently retired it after CC.
This is the last mention of it:
Adobe Exchange Panel – 1.1 Update for CC apps now available
Since it's a flash panel, it wouldn't work in CC 2014 which has gone to HTML5 panels

  • Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6?

Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6? It used to be right above the layers palette in older versions of Photoshop but now it's gone. I'v been trying to find it for an hour and a half and it doesn't seem to be in any of the menus.

If you're looking for the Stroke options of a layer, you can find that by clicking the layer you have a stroke on or wish to have a stroke on, and then clicking the fx icon in the bottom of the layers panel:
And it will open the Stroke options for that layer.
Another option is by clicking Edit at the top menu, and then choosing "Stroke..." (make sure you have a layer selected).
It will then bring up a window with Stroke options on it for that layer:
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance!

  • How do you open the clone panel in Photoshop Elements 12, it isn't shown in the windows list

I am trying to access the clone panel in Photoshop Elements 12. The tutorials I have seen show a drop down list from the windows button, however on my drop down list there is no clone panel.
I guess my question is does PE12 have a clone panel and if so how do I access it?

I've never heard of a "clone panel" but the clone stamp is in the Enhance section on the right side, below the Healing Brush. If you see the pattern stamp there instead, just click the clone stamp in the tool options at the bottom of the window.

  • Metadata (EXIF) as panel in Photoshop ...

    Hi,
I'm looking for a panel in Photoshop, where the EXIF data (better: selected entries like ISO or focal length) can be displayed permanently beside the other panels like Navigator and History.
Is such a panel available or do I have to develop such a panel with the Configurator by myself?
    Thanks :-)

  • Spry Tabs + Collapsable Panels

    Hello,
I have tabs within collapsable panels and in firefox and IE you can see the tabs even if that panel is not open. Any ideas on how to fix this situation?
    Thanks, here's my example:

V1 Fusion I was going through Spry forums and saw a problem
that another user had similiar to mine and was wondering if you
could offer some support. I am using the Tabbed panel from Spry and
can only get 5 tabs across before it starts a new tab below the
others. I was looking thru CSS file but not sure what can be
changed so I can allow 6 tabs accross. I'd send you link but it's
behind a firewall. I can send you a screen shot with email address.
    Any help greatly appreciate it!!!!!!
