Collection agency keeps renewing past due account please help

Question

Hello everyone.  I have a collection agency ERC that first showed on all 3 of my credit reports back when i pulled a report in 2010.  At that time, ERC (acting on behalf of Sprint) was reporting a collection account opened 12/1/2008 with a balance of $2,076.  A partial account number is provided 157XXXXXX.  I have never spoken to anyone regarding this. Fast forward to last month when i decided i wanted to really fix up my credit.  I pulled my credit reports again and it shows ERC still BUT only this time it shows "plced for collections 12/30/2014, for $2,104 and a different partial account number #11741XXX. My question is, since i never spoke to them ackoqwleding even the orginal debt, how can they restart the collection clock?  It's now showing a possible 2019 deletion date on an account that was placed for collections in 2008 which i NEVER acknowledged! Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then there is the actionable aspect of sueing you for said debt which I beleive is governed by the SOL previously mentioned AND the admittance that the debt is yours that would be used in court to prove thier case. This is why you do not want to admit the debt is yours as you would loose your case before it started, but if you choose to pay the debt prior to being sued than it is not relevant. Paying debts that are yours is one thing, which you should do, admitting guilt and thus incrimintating yourself you are under no obligation to do, legally or otherwise. everyone know that standard comment: "I, John Doe, refuse to answer on the grounds that I may incriminate myself"
