Collection during import automatic in lightroom

is here a way to get lightroom to automatic create a collection set with the same name as the folder where the new photos are storred
cheers

Well the idea was to have it so that all the high rated images would be easier to find
There are plugins which do various things with collection sets, smart collections, mirroring disk folder hierarchy as collection sets... - but I would need to better understand what your aim is, before I could advise. For example, having a collection set which mirrors your folder hierarchy doesn't make it any easier to find high-rated images.
I mean, the ratings filter makes it easier to find high-rated images - have you tried that?

Are you familiar with Lightroom's smart collections? There are "scripts" and such which may help to streamline, but at this point - I wouldn't know what to recommend.

i would go straight to the iPad version aswell
Consider TreeSyncPublisher (free by me): you define one set of collections which may or may not include smart collections, which can be used (re-used) when publishing/exporting copies for website, ipad, iphone, ... - so you don't have to synchronize multiple publish collections...... - I'm finishing up to release a new version which will polish it up some more.. Again, there are other options which may be better suited to your circumstances - dunno, yet..

Hi, we are having trouble restoring a SharePoint 2010 site collection using our DPM 2012 installation. The recovery process goes fine (restore of the database, attach to the sql server, export into WFE's filesystem) and the last phase, the SharePoint import,
seems to end with an exception. We see this in the WssCmdletsWrapperCurr.errlog file:

It looks like it is a SharePoint import issue, but I'm not sure. We have tried to restore the site into an empty one, and the exception appears again, although it *seems*  that the content has been recovered. We have imported using the security info

I've searched for that error message in the Net but I've been unable to find anything appropriate.
    Do you have any hints?

yes shirley i did, it turned out that one of my photos was a snapshot of what was on my iphone at the time and it had been named xxxxx.png, i think the fact it was .png was the reason, anyway i deleted it from phone and computer and i,ve had no problem since.

  • Lightroom wont optimize after accidental computer shutdown during import

My computer was accidentally shut off during import of photos into Lightroom.  Now, when Lightroom is turned on, all photos are gray boxes.  I am currently trying to optimize the catalog, but it is taking over an hour. help

Try, when you’re not running LR, deleting your previews folder, in case it is corrupted.  The LR previews are stored in a FOLDER called catalog-name Previews.lrdata.  You can just delete the entire folder.  DON’T DELETE the .LRCAT file which is your LR catalog.

  • Why are my ratings missing when I import files into Lightroom?

Files that I have previously rated with stars in Bridge appear in my Lightroom catalog after DNG conversion without them. I am having to select all the images and use the 'Update DNG Preview and Metadata' command after ever import. Interestingly, this did not used to occur. What preference do I need to reset?
Bridge CS3 and Lightroom 1.3 on a Mac

I'm still not sure I understand.  When you say the develop module changes every picture, do you mean adjustments get applied?  In LR4, the "Basic" panel (top right in Develop module) all the sliders are zero (centred) unless adjustments have been applied.  If they're not centred, then maybe an auto adjustment has been applied?  See Jim's post above.
Also, in Edit menu, Settings, Presets tab, make sure "Apply auto tone adjustments" is NOT checked.
If you want the pictures to look the way the camera jpegs look, then apply a "Camera..." profile.  In Develop module, bottom right, "Camera Calibration" panel, there's a drop-down adjustment "Profile:".  The default is probably "Adobe Standard".  A better match for the Canon picture profiles is to choose "Camera standard", "Camera neutral" etc.  These match closely the equivalent profiles in Canon cameras (Standard, Neutral etc).
Lightroom can't read what was set in the camera, but you have to apply this in Lightroom.  However you can automate it by creating develop presets (see the help).  You can apply presets when you import images. When you import, there's a "Apply During Import" panel to do this.

  • How do I correctly import images into Lightroom?

Before installing Adobe Creative Cloud, I deleted Adobe Elements and all files in My Pictures on my hard drive so I could start fresh. I copied groups of images from CS5 Bridge on my old pc onto an empty flashdrive and tried to import them to Lightroom. In addition to those copied images, whole bunches of other images imported. Even worse, those added images were sorted strangely, not even belonging to the groups as I had them in my old pc.

Since you used the Copy import type, at least the images are also where they originally were, other than those on the flash-drive which was a temporary location for images from another location except when you plug it in.
So there seem to be two unexpected things: more images were imported than you wanted to be imported, and some of the images are in folders that don't match the date they were taken.
The folder-date mismatch might be due to some of the photos not having a taken-date in the exif information so the date they were last modified is used, instead.  You should check your destination naming options in LR to see if you have things set to import into date folders or not.  If not, then you actually specified that LR import a particular import's photos into a specifically-named folder that you typed the name of.
As far as how extra photos got imported, only you can answer that.  It would have to do with where you told LR to import from and if you have Include Subfolders selected.  There is a way to specify an Auto Import folder using LR / File / Auto Import where LR will watch for photo files and import photos it see show up in that folder, but I doubt that is the problem.
You'll have to decide on what to do now.  If you have all the photos still on the flash drive, then you might want to start over.  However, also think about if you want to be doing a Copy Import into your pictures folder from everywhere else, or if you want to use Explorer to copy the photos, yourself, outside of LR and do an Add import.  A Copy import from the flash drive could make more sense, since that is only a temporary location for the photos, but for other photos already on your computer, an Add import might make more sense.  If you use your OS copy commands to move photos from the flash drive to your computer's internal drive, you can decide what to name the folders, instead of LR choosing, if you have LR Import set to use dates.
If things aren't in completely the wrong places, you can drag-and-drop within the LR Library Folders panel to put things where you want, and you can also right-click Remove (without deleting from disk) any extra photos.
Also, there is nothing magic about the Pictures folder.  You can choose to make a new folder and put your LR photos under it.
The bottom line is that LR isn't doing anything more than what you told it to do, and it sounds like you just aren't aware of all the settings enabled during your imports so unexpected things happened.

  • Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine.

Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine. All file types, Lightroom is no longer recognising the images to import, The panel that usually displays them remains empty.  Try using backup versions, removing software that could conflict , still no joy, has anyone had this problem?

    Did you follow this procedure?
Our iTunes guru Terence Devlin advises the following:
    1. Quit iTunes
    2. Drag the iTunes folder from your internal hd - located in ~/Music folder - to your external hd. DO NOT delete the original one from your internal hd... yet!
    3. When the transfer is complete, press and hold the Option(alt) key and fire up iTunes.
    4. A "Choose iTunes Library" window will come up. Click on the "Choose Library" button.
    5. Navigate to where the iTunes folder is located in the external hd.
    6. Within the iTunes folder, select the iTunes Library file and click Choose...
That's it. iTunes will now display all your playlists, songs, movies, podcasts etc. At this point, should you wish, you can delete the iTunes folder from the internal hd to free up space.

  • Rotate images DURING import

To be able to rotate images DURING import would be a nice feature. I can do this with Apple's Image Capture. They are imported wih the rotation I have requested, and this show in the icons too.
I like popping a folder open and view my images in icon view. I don't have to open a program at all. It's quick and efficent way to view my images, but also the orientation is correct right from the beginning with the original. Maybe one more step in the import process, for those of us who don't mind it, BUT it's also one more step I DON"T have to do in Lightroom, Photoshop, or any other program. And the rotataion in Lightroom are temporary to the eye anyway.
This is good feature/option to add to the import. Lightroom ROCKS. It just elimanted a multi-step, multi-software import process. Almost. The "rotate during import" feature would seal the deal. It's a big deal to me. Like the Apple Image Capture, you could place rotation icons on each image in the preview window. If you added that, man, solid gold!
    thanks,
    Craig

    DW Harrison:
Sure, I get that, but I can understand how non-destructive editing is useful in image adjustments where later you may regret having added too much saturation in the reds, so you're glad you can go back to the original. But who wants a portrait image rotated in landscape orientation EVER? It's a personal preference, and, no, not a priority in my opinion.
    Ian:
You may think your post was enlightening, but, perhaps to someone else. Surely not me. I've always known what the 'real cause' is -- some software, i.e. WEB BROWSWERS, ignore the EXIF tag. Hence, my question was more of a philosophical one: why have portrait images rotated sideways, only to have aware applications ON-THE-FLY rotate them according to the EXIF tag? Why not just have the original file re-written in different dimensions?
For that matter, I specifically spelled out 'why can't... [the file be] rewritten from 800x600 to 600x800'. Hence I find your response 'They will be if the rotation tag is set in the camera' pretty darn irrelevant. No, they WON'T be rewritten rotated. Only by Graphic Converter if you have the option selected, or other applications that don't come to mind right now.

  • IPhoto '11 latest update (9.1.3) crashes during import.....

the latest update of iPhoto '11 (9.1.3) is crashing during import on both my Macbook and iMac.
The crash seems to happen before the event is auto-split, and before the latest import is registered (only a much earlier import shows up in the "Recent->Last Import" collection.
This latest crash on my iMac has left me with an event visible only in the main "Library->Photos" collection, but not in the events list.  In this case the thread deleting the photos on the SD card was only partly done as well so I manually removed the remaining already imported but latent photos from the SD card before returning it to my camera.
I cannot auto-split it either (it covers 19 days, with over 1400 photos).
The earlier crash on my Macbook did something similar (it was a partial import of my trip photos and I elected to keep them on the card that time), but I was able somehow to auto-split the one big event despite it not being in the events list and from then on everything seemed to look OK again on that system.
Both crash reports have been sent to Apple.
I may have found a possible workaround by selecting all the photos in the phantom event but via flagging them, then creating a new event from the flagged photos.   Kinda hokey but it seems to have eliminated the phantom event at the same time due to the fact photos can only be in one event at a time.
iPhoto did crash one more time during this process though, and I've not yet confirmed if everything's OK since.

If both libraries on both machines are crashing while importing the same set of images, then it suggests there's something wrong with one of those images.

  • Premiere Pro CC v7.0 - MP3s corrupted during import with "Write XMP ID to Files on Import"

Premiere Pro CC v7.0 - original MP3s corrupted during import with default "Write XMP ID to Files on Import" option
I have just started using a Trial version of Premiere.
I have a folder full of corrupted MP3 files after attempting to import them into Premiere.
After searching these forums I found that some other people have had corruption issues during import of media and it was related to the Preferences->Media->"Write XMP ID to Files on Import" option.
I attempted to import additional MP3s (this time making backups first) with and without the Write XMP ID option, and have found that this is where the issue is.
While the MP3 files still fail to be imported, the files are not corrupted in the process when the Write XMP ID option is unchecked.
Writing to files that are being imported seems to me like unexpected behaviour for any software.
    Adobe please advise!
Is there any way to recover my original MP3 collection?

What exactly is wrong with them?

  • Aperture 3.6 - wrong image selected during import

    Aperture 3.6
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    MacBook Air
I run a program at a guest ranch where we import photos from our guests into Aperture. We see multiple devices and have this issue randomly on many of them.
Lets choose an iPhone for the example. Connect the iPhone, go to import, select the device, choose 'Uncheck All'.
Now when scrolling through the images, the guest will select a photo, and at times the image next to it will be checked as well without being selected by the guest. Sometimes it it the first or second image that is automatically selected during import.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    Lee

Problems with the UI can sometimes be resolved by removing the Preference file.
See Get help with Aperture 3 - Apple Support , scroll down until you see
    Reset the user preferences
and follow the directions. Note in step 5 Restart your computer if you're using OS X Mavericks that will apply if you are running Yosemite also.

  • How to import jpg in lightroom 5 (cc) without keywords

When I import jpg photos Lightroom automatically also imports all keywords. How can I stop this? The reason I don't want them is that I actually want to re-do all of my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I feel that it needs to be done, as I've learned how to do things more properly (in theory).
Lightroom 5.3 (creative cloud). Fully updated.
    Windows 7.

But doing them via your method (or likely the only method) means that small batches in this way wouldn't work (unless I'm simply misunderstanding, in which case I appologize!). But this way means bringing in a few hundred and getting rid of keywords. At that point there is no use in keywording because after I bring the next bunch in I would have to sort through all the keywords and get rid of them etc.
Batch 1 ... we agree this works, all imported keywords are deleted, then you add your new keywords
Batch 2 ... you just remove the keywords from the newly imported photos via the method I described. You do this by selecting the newly imported photos in the Catalog panel on the left, click on Most Recent Import (if it is not already selected, I think it might be selected by default after you do an import), then Ctrl/Cmd-A to select all of these photos, and then perform this operation. Only keywords from batch 2 will be deleted. The keywords that you added in Batch 1 will not be affected. Then add the new keywords to Batch 2.
    Batch 3 ... same as batch 2 ...

  • Unable to import photos into Lightroom 5 from anywhere.

I am running the CC version of LIghtroom 5 on a macbook with OSX 10.7.5.  I upgraded to lightroom 5 and have not been able to import any photos into Lightroom.  Every folder that I click on in the import dialogue looks empty.  I have tried from the WD external hard drive that I store my photos on and directly from the desktop.  It doesn't recognize photos anywhere.  I've unchecked the "hide suspected duplicates" box and that doesn't make a difference.  It's like LIghtroom thinks they don't exist.  Help?!

    Hi,
can you please post screenshot of the import dialog when it fails? Do you crate a subfolder in target folder? You use file rename, apply preset, set metadata during import. Try to deactive these. (May be some corrupt / missing data).
