Collection Manager Red Hat VMware
Hello,
My client is asking if the Red Hat Server that Collection Manager is installed for the SCE platform supports VMware. I have read the installation guide of the collection manager but does not state anything. Is it ok to install in VMware?
Before I went to the client, I installed CM & Sybase in a VMware wich contains Red Hat Linux as an OS.
(My computer's OS is Windows and I had installed VMware in it)
It worked well with me.
When I went to my client, I installed directly CM in Red Hat Linux which was the only OS of his server.
I diden't like VMware, my client also

Appreciate specific steps to ensure that Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.3 is installed as baseline for upgrade.
Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5.2 64bit.
The major problems are with the Configuration Assistant Web Cache during the Install. It fails with OUI-25031.
The configToolFailedCommands script contents is:
oracle.sysman.emcp.agent.AgentPlugInThe root cause of Oracle Grid 10.2.0.3 did not install successfully was because of a Network Configuration Issue. i.e., some strange IP was being referenced over the internet and mapping it to my hostname of my server. I performed a "dig hostname" to see what ip was being associated with my so-called unique hostname. After fixing that problem and removing all of Oracle, I only had one warning with OPMN not starting. I discovered additional rpms that needed to be installed and all is good now until the next opportunity.
Learned Lesson: Pay Very Careful Attention to all configuration components and document as you go to ensure that you have your process documented. -

Is it possible to Manage Sun Fire v60 without using Red Hat?
I've been trying to enable a console connection via an Avocent dongle connected to the serial port using these directions:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19088-01/v65x.srvr/817-2025-13/chap2.html
All I've been able to view is the BIOS output, and the grub menu; I am unable to control anything.
Is it possible to manage a Sun Fire v60x without using a Red Hat server to issue power/status commands?
Thank you.Hi.
Serial console support only text mode. So can freasing after server change mode to graphics.
For manage server You can read:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19088-01/v65x.srvr/817-2025-13/chap1.html#pgfId-1014396
Lights Out Management (LOM)
The Intel Server Management (ISM) software is a set of applications and agents for monitoring and managing servers. The agents can act as low-level stand-alone pieces, or can be used in conjunction with full-featured integrated management suites.
Available features include power on, power off and reset. System Event Logs (SELs) and Sensor Data Records (SDRs) can be viewed remotely.
IMHO: It's very old server and remote control of it not user frendly.

Using OC to manage HP servers running Red Hat?
We've inherited a couple of HP Proliant DL360 G7 servers running Red Hat. I can manage the OS from Ops Center but I can't manage the hardware. I've tried picking "Other IPMI Service Processor" from the "Search for Type" list during "Custom Discovery" but the discovery fails. I've verified that I'm using the correct IPMI user and password. I can use ipmitool from the command line but I have to use "lanplus". Is OC not capable of using lanplus?
The Prolliant is running "ILO 3 Advanced", version "1.26 Aug 26 2011". Is that too new for OC?
Thanks,I was under the impression that OC was capable of using lanplus.. but I could be wrong. (I usually am)
I believe a buddy of mine has an HP ProLiant DL360 G7 running on his network, I will shoot him over an email with this link so he can (hopefully) answer you. This is the one he has, in case it matters -- http://www.servermonkey.com/hp-proliant-dl360-g7/

Oracle on Red Hat on VMware Evaluation Kit,
Has anyone been able to locate the correct url for Disc 2 of the Red Hat download? It currently points to a non-existent page at Red Hat.
I downloaded DVD1, entered all requested information for DVD2, but I did not receive any emails about how to download DVD2.
If you have a direct link for downloading DVD2 could you send it to [email protected] -
Failed Installation of Oracle8i on Red Hat Linux 7.0
Hi,
I have successfully installed Oracle8i(8.1.6) Enterprise edition on Red Hat Linux 7.0 but while running the Database Configuration Assistant, it stops at the database initialization portion. I suspect the initmig8i.ora file is causing the problem. I have followed the installation guide very closely and the SID is mig8i. What might be the problem causing it to stop? Now, I can't connect to database.

nullRichard,
It's a glib problem. 8i uses the glib 2.1 libraries, while RH7 uses the 2.2. There is a patch available from oracle support, or you can find a solution that has worked for me twice on the otn discussion forum.

# necessary, since all instances must run with the same value for many
# parameters. For example, if you choose to use private rollback' segments,
# these must be specified in different files, but since all gc_*
# parameters must be the same on all instances, they should be in one file.
# INSTRUCTIONS: Edit this file and the other INIT files it calls for
# your site, either by using the values provided here or by providing
# your own. Then place an IFILE= line into each instance-specific
# INIT file that points at this file.
# NOTE: Parameter values suggested in this file are based on conservative
# estimates for computer memory availability. You should adjust values upward
# for modern machines.

we have problems with our reports in Collection Manager again. We reboot the CM, but the problems continue.
This is the log of the CM. What can be the problem? Thanks tomo

Problem with Javamail in Red Hat
Good afternoon.
I have a problem with javamail in Red Hat.
When i send a email in windows with my application, works well. But in Red Hat no works.
Gives the following error:
Java.lang.ClassCastException .... gnu.mail.handler.TextPlain
Does anyone know that happens? You have much to learn. This is the wrong forum for most of it.
You should be able to use the package manager in Linux to
uninstall the Gnu version. Then read this:

Recovery failed during homognuos System copy maxdb 7.7 red hat 5.4 ECC 6.0
Hi all,
*Actully i have one Development Server with ECC 6.0.. + maxdb 7.7 database OS Red Hat 5.4.
Please help us to what username and password we can give....i am from oracle backgroud so i am a newbie in maxdb.
Source System
ECC 6.0
OS Redhat 5.4
SAPSID WIA
Target system
ECC 6.0
OS Redhat 5.4
SAPSID WID
Now i am going to Create Quality Server for my landscape using homogenoues system copy ....option in target machine... and I have taken database backup (offline backup) also...
But during system copy it is asking for Database recovery . For recovery i am using DATABASE MANAGER TOOL (DBMGUI 7.6 maxdb) but it is asking for IP ,DBname username and password.
I have given the IP and DB Name but dont know the username and password for the target Machine SAPSID
Because at the time of system copy it asked for database recovery before creating the database users phase .
I checked with xuser list from command line it is showing no values.
Tried with the username and password given at OS level and the password for Source system but no luck.
So what to do.....
Please helpHi,
thanks for your reply.
I am sahil garg and amkum82 user we both are working on the same issue.
We both are from oracle backgroud.Newbie in maxdb.
We have are following the 129352 note for homogenous system copy.
2. Target system:
b) Restore:
Before the restore, you must initialize the target instance. This initialization formats the log area. Data volumes are only formatted if they are not configured as raw devices and are not available in the configured size.
We dont know how to create instancefor tarhet system in maxdb for homogenues system copy.Could you please help us out what steps needed to be executed for this.
Thanks Regards,

Install Oracle 11.2 (ASM) failover on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Suite
Hi everybody,
I need installer Oracle 11.2 with asm on Failover Cluster Red Hat linux Suite (two servers), could someone help me?
There is documentation about that...
My idea is
- Installer oracle in both servers
- Installer Infraestructure Grid for asm in both server
- Create database on asm (ams disk shoud be same for boths servers)
Is soported gfs (global file system) and asm?
I have many doubts.
Thanks in advance.I have several comments:
Don't use the RPM utility to install software. It does not resolve dependencies. As of RHEL 5, YUM or UP2DATE are the standard software management tools.
RHEL? Do you have a paid subscription or money to waste? If not, you will be much better off using Oracle Linux, because you can download it for free and also have access to all errata and patches for free (http://public-yum.oracle.com). If you need the RHCK kernel instead of the more advanced Oracle UEK kernel, which is optimized by Oracle for Oracle products, no problem, because Oracle Linux ships with both. If you want to use Linux ASMLib under RHEL 6, you need a RHEL subscription to download the kernel module. The Oracle UEK kernel includes the driver.
Also if you use Oracle Linux, you can install the oracle-rdbms-server-11gr2-preinstall package, which triggers the installation of all prerequisite software and takes care of kernel parameters and creating the Oracle account. You then simply set a password for the Oracle account and you're done.
RHEL 6.0. Why such an old version and not 6.4?
According to my records, you can use the following command under RHEL 6 to install the 11gR2 prerequisite software. Yum will automatically install other depended software as required.
yum install compat-libstdc++-33 compat-gcc-34 compat-gcc-34-c++ \
elfutils-libelf-devel ksh sysstat make gcc gcc-c++ compat-libcap1 \
glibc-devel glibc-common glibc-headers libstdc++-devel libaio-devel -

anyone can help me
TKSKhalid,
This combination is strongly not recommended. Oracle 8.0.5 was built with GNU Lib C 2.0, which is 2 generations ago. It will not work once installed and I do not know if the old glibc compatibility libraries would be available.
I would encourage you to use Oracle 8i (8.1.7.0.1) or wait a few days for Oracle 9i.
