Collection of information by Safari

I have heard that in addition to recording information regarding internet activity in the cache that can be emptied by the commands in the Safari window, “Empty Cache” or ‘Reset Safari”, that Safari also records this information somewhere else and that neither “Empty Cache” nor ”Reset Safari” will delete it. It is said that this info gets recorded whether or not “Private Browsing” is turned on. I’m wondering if this is really factual. If it is, what purpose does it serve? I am not concerned because I have any nefarious information that I want to hide, but it just seems to me that “Private Browsing” should be private. I guess the information must have some use, and surely it must get deleted sometime. I’d be interested to learn the purpose of this effort and how its deletion is handled (this, of course, provided the whole subject matter is real).

There is no mysterious "recording" of any information while browsing, whether or not you turn on private browsing. You have your cache (sites you've already visited), your cookies (from sites you've already visited) and site favicons for those sites. I fyou use the Autofill feature, it will save those, but you can also delete them; they aren't transmitted to anyone.

We are in the process of upgrading Oracle Database from 9i to 11g on AIX 6.1. After installing the Oracle Software 11g (11.2.0.1) we try to run the DBUA but after showing the screen collecting server information a blank page appears (with no error code) after which the DBUA stops.
Please any hints or any comments.

Use stored login information from Safari/Firefox etc in Flash Player standalone? (Mac)

I play a flash game called FFR (Flash Flash Revolution). It uses a login system to keep track of scores and ranks from the songs I play. On my late model eMac It's very laggy in-browser, even on low quality. I downloaded the Flash Player 9 stand alone and it runs smooth, however it doesn't use my stored login information from Safari/Firefox (or IE5 for that matter) Like Windows does. Is there any way to fix this?

Edit the default caption text in the following file *before* you capture your simulation:-

E.g. change

* Make sure that you also create a userName variable in your Captivate file. Now, whenever you click on a titlebar when capturing a demo, the user name will be displayed in the ‘click the xxx titlebar” instruction.

Forms central and collecting secure information.

If I place a form using forces central on the internet via the collect responses online is it secure? I am collecting private information.

How many active forms and number of responses are allowed in the standard Forms Central that comes with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro? Because I only have one active form with 3 responses (all are practices to figure out the program). If I delete everything, should I theoretically be able to upload a PDF into forms and collect responses for it? Or will that function still be blocked without an upgrade?

Collecting Sensitive Information Via a PDF Form

I have a client who is bound and determined to have a form on his website that collects sensitive information. Is there a way to create a PDF form that users can download, fill out, and submit the information securely? Since the data will be on the Internet it must be encrypted and send via a secure server (https). Does acrobat.com provide this functionality?
At first I was going to develop a simple webform hosted on a secure server, but I think this data should be encrypted.
Any help or direction on this issue is much appreciated.

Acrobat.com account information and document security are taken very, very seriously; we do use secure sockets layer (SSL) technology (which, you'll notice, translates to https in front of a URL at Acrobat.com), and all data is encrypted. You can use Statspack. You have the most important information and you have an overview of how the database performes.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.

We have installed Information Steward 14.2.1.220
I have created a Integrator to collect information on BI4.1 environment, when the integrator is scheduled, run is successful and universe information is not loaded to database tables.
Following distinct warnings/Errors are raised.
1. [W] 2014-05-22 08:41:00.018 Unable to collect universes.java.net.SocketException: Connection reset (CMM-10273)
2. [E] 2014-05-22 08:41:22.341 Universe [/Universes/eFashion]. Failedto collect metadata for Universe Unknown Error : eFashion (CMM-10117)
3. [W] 2014-05-22 08:41:59.641 WebI document [Web IntelligenceSamples/Mobile Samples/Input Controls & Filter Demo]. Unable to establish Universe Object relationship. Class [Store] does not exist inuniverse [eFashion]. (CMM-10077) (CMM-10074) (CMM-10130)
Note:
1. No extra content is developed in this environment only default
universes and reports along with installation are present in system.
2. Administrator user is used to configure Integrator.
3. Also tired to add some universes and reports and same errors/warnings while running the integrator.

As per the log you attached, the following i understood,
1. Unable to collect Universes - Due to Connection Reset
2. Failed to collect metadata of Universe eFashion
3. Webi Document - Unable to define relationships with Universe - Due to Class is not exists in Universe
And you clearly mentioned that, nothing new developments are there in BI system and you used Administrator account to extract the metadata.
Suresh, you please do the following tests, which will help you to fix the issue:
Log in to IS Server, where you installed the Metadata Integrators,
1. Try to access the Universe eFashion from IDT / UDT tool
2. Perform Integrity Check on Universe (especially check the Connection Test is passed or not)
3. Check the Business Layer of eFashion Universe, whether all the classes are exists or not
4. Open the eFashion related WebI document in Rich Client and run the report to check whether the report is running or throwing an error.
These test will help you to find the root cause for the above issue.

User Profile email address not updated on Site Collection User Information

Hi All,
Ok here we go....SharePoint 2007 with SSP profile sync not enabled, however I have a few profiles I need to update (email address). This has been completed by editing the user profile in SSP, but when viewing the information via Site Collection >
People & Groups > User Information "Work E-mail" is still showing the old one.
All alerts are still being sent to the old email address, SSP DB UserProfile_Full shows the new email address as per SSP.
Anyone know where else user profile emails are stored which is used by Exchange?

How to collect profiling information

I try to use -Xrunhprof:cpu:old to collect some profiling information.
However I got the following information:

Someone else will probably provide a better answer. I am not aware of such a debugging feature (monitoring CPU use) built into firefox.

If this occur in firefox [[safe mode]] there is a problem that needs investigating.
Do not forget to watch the number of instances of ''plugincontainer.exe'' that are open, there is a known bug causing problems with that see [/questions/812618]
Note also you are able to for instance turn off the hardware acceleration, or by setting a preference (''html5.parser.enable;true/false'') turn off the html5 browser ability of Firefox.
Presumably you have seen the Web Developer options from the firefox button. (And maybe considered firebug add-on, depending on what you are trying to check)

Get live information from Safari webpage

I would like to know how to get information from a website (using Safari) onto a Numbers spreadsheet. Is this possible? If so, can I have Numbers automatically update that information? This would make my life a ton better for I have a lot of info from the web I currently manually enter into Numbers. Thanks!

This depends on the website. Some websites have data in tables that can be copied and pasted into Numbers. Others don't work as well. Numbers does not have built-in capability to do this automatically. But, depending on the structure of the web page, AppleScript may be able to able to output data in a format that Numbers can accept. What does the website look like?

Outlook: Collecting computer information on machine that email was sent from (GoToAssist/Outlook integration)

Hey everyone,
I noticed our tier 1 help desk technicians are consistently asking for common information that typically isn't included in a ticket. For example, user emails our helpdesk which generates a ticket in Citrix
GoToAssist, information such as asset tag is missing, so the tier 1 technician has to call the user to collect information. Is there a way to collect information from a machine that is sent via outlook? I was thinking we could mass deploy a rule that runs
a script every time our helpdesk is in the TO box so that a form pops up or maybe a crawler collects information for us... such as the computer name which contains the asset tag inside of it.

We can do few thing on this issue in this forum. What we can do is design a custom form in Outlook and distribute it to all users, then ask them to use the form when they send emails to the helpdesk.

I have been using Captivate 5 to create training modules that we host on our own site. The modules are information driven and have no testing included. Our clients would like us to collect information from the user to track who has viewed the module. All we need is their name and employee number. Is there a way to accomplish this without having the user send an email?

It sounds like you're publishing your Captivate content as htm/swf output?
If so and you have access to the services of a web developer, you can use Javascript in the web browser to pass the user information from Captivate out to the browser. Once in the browser, you can then do anything with the data that your web developer can dream up.
