Collections of issues about GPP Internet Settings

Here
is the summary of hot issues about the configuration of Internet Explorer Internet Settings via GPP from forum.
Q: What can I do when options are grayed out?
For example, the options to set cookies under “Privacy” tab are grayed out, so it is unable to configure it via GPP.
A: We can configure the setting via registry as an alternative way, the values are stored under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3.
Privacy Settings (1A10) is used by the Privacy tab slider, more information are mentioned in
KB182569.
In order to apply the configuration in domain environment, we could deploy the registry entry via GPO. If one setting is controlled by a number of registry keys or binary values, then
we can export the registry information from a reference PC, then apply the settings to related areas.
Q: What is the importance of F5-F8 keys?
A: The GPP doesn’t work even though it has been applied successfully with the help of the command Gpupdate /force. In this case, check if you have mixed up the function of F5-F8 keys:
F5: Configure all of these settings
F6: Configure just this setting
F7: Ignore just this setting
F8: Ignore all of these settings
Please refer to the following article to get more help: Reference link:
Red / Green: GP Preferences doesn’t work even though the
policy applied and after gpupdate \force
Q: Cannot find GPP for Internet Explorer 9 in a Windows Server 2008 environment.
A:
Please select the suitable solution according to the case:
There’s a hotfix for this issue, see
KB2530309,
this update changes the values that are used for the internal filter for Internet Explorer 8 so that the settings also apply to Internet Explorer 9.
Internet Explorer 9 and 10 GPP settings can only be shown up on Windows 8 (RSAT
for Windows 8 installed)
or Windows Server 2012 or higher versions.
To configure Internet Explorer 11 GPP settings, you need to have Windows 8.1 (RSAT
for Windows 8.1 installed)
or Windows Server 2012 R2 installed as DC.
Q: What is the filtering mechanism of GPP?
A: If the GPP doesn’t apply successfully, it’s necessary to check the filtering setting, Item-Level Targeting which allows to change the scope of individual preference items.
It is based on each setting whereas, however Security Filtering and WMI filtering are based on each GPO.
Q: Internet Settings applied via GPP can be changed by the end user, what can I do to prevent this?
A: This is by design, but we can manually set the Group Policy refresh interval, shorten the time to make the policy re-applied again and again to avoid this issue. We can
configure the three policies:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\ Set Group Policy Refresh Interval for computers
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\ Set Group Policy Refresh Interval for domain controllers
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\
Set Group Policy Refresh Interval for users

  • GPP Internet Settings for IE 11 disable Zone settings

    Hello!
We have to Rollout IE 11 to our whole client Environment ( Win7 Enterprise). But before we can do this we have to test it in our IT department. We want to make the settings with GPP. In the first step we only want to set the Proxy settings and the default
    Homepage.
At this Point our troubles are starting. When we create a IE 10 Setting (which also applys to IE11) i can set what i want. everything is working on the Client. But i don´t want to set the settings from the security tab and i can´t disable this
with F7 because there is no red dotted nor a green line.
The reason why we don´t want do set this settings is very simple. We want that our colleagues can set every setting and give us then a feedback which settings they need to set for there web apps.
    Any Ideas?
    Kind Regards
    Wolfgang Preisch

    Hi,
As you knew, Internet Explorer Maintenance (IEM) could be used to configure Internet Explorer settings on computers where IE 9 or older version is installed. However, Any settings that you previously configured with IEM will no longer work on computers where
Internet Explorer 10 or newer is installed, regardless of the Windows version it’s been installed on. You must update your settings using Group Policy Preferences, Administrative Templates (.admx), or the Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK).
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj890998.aspx
Moreover, you can set security zone using registry entries.

  • Upgrading to IE 10 or 11 loses abilty to see Temporary Internet Settings Folder

Win 7 Pro.  Last year, When I tried to upgrade to IE 10, I lost all my ability to keep history or login info.  Like in several different threads here, the location of the Temporary Internet Settings and the ability to set the size of the cache
disappeared.  I then downgraded back to IE 9 and it worked.  Today, I tried to upgrade to IE11, and the same thing happened.  I have studied at length the other threads here about how to change default location, changing from hidden, read-only,
system, etc.  without success.  It appears that the folder (when you try to open it) is empty, however when you look at the size of the folder it is obvious that there is data inside it.  If I change the default location, the issue recreates
at the new location, however, it frees up the old location and all of a sudden you can see the files/folders inside.  Move it back, and the problem recreates.  The folder is currently NOT hidden, NOT a system folder and is NOT read only - yet you
cannot see anything inside the folder unless you move the default location elsewhere.  I am stumped.  Please help.

    Assuming Win7 64-bit...
Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably
    without quoting my post:
1a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?
1b. Did Win7 64-bit come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, did you do a clean install of Win7,
or did you upgrade the computer to Win7?
    2. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and
when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)?
    3. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer
    since you bought it?
    4. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE] come preinstalled on the computer
when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)
    5. Is KB2987107, KB3000061, KB3000869, KB2968294, KB2972100 and/or KB2979570 listed in
Installed Updates (not Update History)? [1]

8a. When (exact date) was Internet Explorer 9 installed according to

  • My internet settings for blackberry curve

i have a blackberry curve 9520 i have been having internet problems so i contacted vodafone the man said try and reset your internet settings , the problem is i dont know how to do this can you help?

    Hello!!
And you let him get away with that? Really? You PAY them for your support, and they didn't provide it to you.
    My guess...
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then should contact your mobile service provider for formal support...and this time don't let them fob you off so easily.
    Good luck!

Different environments mean just that. So something could be causing it outside java.
Additionally if anything at all is different in the execution data, such as even a name having a different size, then it would change the execution path.
Which would cause a problem in the JNI code to manifest itself on only one box. Probably isn't a pointer bug but all sorts of odd behavior can result from that.

  • Group Policy Preferences - Internet Settings - Trusted Sites

    hi all
I can't set Trusted Zone (Site) with GPO Preferences - Internet Settings because it is grey?
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
The Trusted Sites cannot be added using Group Policy Preferences. But you can add it by native group policy.
The group policy settings are here:
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\Trusted Sites Zone
If you really want to use the GPP, please manually add the registry keys through GPP.

  • MacBook Pro forgets its wireless & network internet settings...

    Hi...
I'm having problems with my MacBook Pro 'remembering' its wireless and network internet settings. I'm connecting via Airportto my Belkin 54g wireless router which is what has been running happily for the last 18 months.
Here's what happens - AirPort says it's connected, the internet works fine but when the MacBook Pro 'sleeps' or is restarted it 'forgets' its network and internet settings and cannot log on to the internet.
I get the Network Diagnostics appearing and I go through the options and eventually Network Diagnostics will show everything is fine, except there is no internet connection. I click through next options available on screen and I manage to get the MackBook Pro to restore its internet connection. All is fine until the MacBook Pro goes to 'sleep' again or is switched off.
This hassle began out of the blue - I haven't changed any settings on the machine, I haven't installed any software or anti-virus programs - it just spung up!
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance!
    philip

    Hi,
I have not encountered this particular problem yet, but I have just bought a Belkin 54g adsl and wireless router. It has connected up to my home pc with no problems and it has also connected up to my macbook pro (leopard) okay, but the range on the internet connection is really poor. It works up to about 50 feet, but I can't use it upstairs, which granted is more than 50 feet away from the source, but at 80 quid I thought it would perform better.
I contacted Belkin support which is local rate and they suggested changing the wireless channel from 11 to 6, but when I did this it would even find the network using Airport.
I would like to be able to use the laptop over 50ft (i.e. in my bedroom) as well as all over the house, but so far I only get as far as the next room!
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful? NB: I am not a very technical user.

  • Adobe Updater flashes a message on my screen once a week that says "No Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and/or firewall. Waiting for connection..." Everything else works perfectly on my Internet connection.

Adobe Updater flashes a message on my screen once a week that says "No Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and/or firewall. Waiting for connection..." Everything else works perfectly on my Internet connection.

    I'm experiencing a similar problem.
I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011.  I was using Lion (not Mountain Lion) with CS3 with no problems.  Recently I installed a new hard drive in my computer and used Time Machine to transfer all my files and settings (still with Lion; I did not try to open any Adobe applications at this point).  Then I udpated to Mavericks.  Upon trying to open one of the Adobe applications, it told me I needed to reinstall CS3.  I inserted the original disc and followed the instructions on the ReadMe file.  I went to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers > Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium.  I did a reinstall, and at the end, it said that some of the components failed to install (see screenshot):
I did a partial install (not all CS3 applications), so there could have been more errors than this if all applications were installed.  The applications themselves appear to work fine, but when I try to run the updater, it tells me I have no internet connection.
    link470 wrote:
Acrobat updater works just fine [after I install the manual updates till 9.2.0].
Can you tell me where to find these manual updates?  I looked on this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/collection.jsp?collID=1&platform=Macintosh
but I don't see 9.2.0 for any of the CS3 applications.
The CS3 that I purchased (Design Premium) came with Adobe Acrobat 8.  I tried to manually install the 8.1.1 update.  It said, "Please choose the copy of Adobe Acrobat Professional to update", but the application is grayed out (see below).  I did not try to install any other manual updates, yet.
I'm not sure what to do here besides use my CS3 applications the way they are without updating them ever.  (I would rather not subscribe to the Creative Cloud.)  Any help will be appreciated.  I might try doing a complete unintall followed by a fresh install.

  • RWIN, MTU settings needed so I can tweak my internet settings in terminal

I wondered if anyone can help me tweak my internet settings?? I live right next to my exxchange and my ISP stats I should be getting about 7500.00Kbps, but the highest I have ever had is 6049.58 Kbps 343.45 Kbps.
Usually is it pretty constant between 3000.00 - 5000.00Kbps
Does anyone have any ideas on the setting I can change? Here are my current settings from speedguide.net

But specifically for mtu, you should try:
    sudo ifconfig en0 mtu xxxx
in a terminal windows, assuming xxxx the desired value for MTU, and you"re connected through ethernet.
    It won't resist a reboot.
If the MTU path discovery is Ok on your ISP network, it won't bring you much, though.

  • Any known issues about ISA B2C website?

    Hello,
Are there any known issues about ISA B2C website? I am trying to create a new user account & Country field is not getting populated. So even if I enter all the information, it gives error "Make an entry in all fields where required ".
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Harsha

i've tried to reset the phone as well, by shutting it off and turning it back on.
This is a Restart, not a Reset. A reset is pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
someone i know also has the same issue
    Maybe an ATT issue?

  • Issue about web analysis

    Hi guys,
I am facing an issue about Web Analysis. When I use the version pre-9, I can access web analysis directly with html client or java client. Then I set each user with each POV. Now I am using EPM11, I can just access web analysis by workspace. Then if I would like to access java client, I click Tools->links->web analysis studio. While I access html client by clicking explore in the workspace toolbar. However, if the user doesn't belong to admin group, I can't find the explore toolbar. Then I can't access html client. As we know, not all web analysis users should be admin users. This issue puzzles me very much. Is there someone who can give some good suggestions? Thanks a lot.

The user needs the 'Explorer' role to see the 'Explore' button. The user does not need admin privs for this.
To access Web Analysis Studio directly, go to http://<server-name>:19000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp or http://<server-name>:16000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp.

How can I disable the automatic hiding of known file attachments, and why are always about 10 internet pages where I have to download something when I use mozila firefox?
    Windows Computer

    1) If you are talking about the file names on the computer, there is a
setting to turn off known file types. Open your file browser. Then
just under the location bar, press '''Tools,''' then '''Folder Options.'''
A new window will open. Select '''View.''' Look for
'''Hide Extensions For Known File Types.'''
    2) Never NEVER '''NEVER''' download anything unless you know what
it is. If a web site claims it needs to download something, what is it?
It could be something like the flash player, '''or a virus ! !'''
