College campus and Public library Wifi Problems.

So, I've been reading about these problems that several other people's Macbook Pros have been dropping their wifi signal. Well, I can't even connect to the internet. On the college campus, I cannot access the internet, or even get to the College campus user log in. Same thing happens at my local public library. My computer, an early 2011 13' macbook pro, recognizes and "connects" to the wifi, but when I open a browser the taskbar is kept loading for 2-3 minutes. I'm not sure what the problem is but can someone help?

Tried Chrome and reset everything on both browsers. Nothing helped.
Restarted computer. Reinstalled Lion 10.7.2. I obviously can't reset or restart the routers because its a public library. The bar at the top states that the wifi is connected but there's no acces on any browsers.
Im not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I updated to the latest safari software and everything works fine on my home network, but as I said, at school, public library connected but no actual internet acces.

Can't send email on public library WIFI

When I log onto a public library WiFi, for some reason Mail (v3.4) won't send. It receives just fine - but I can't sent.
Is there a preference for this?

Depending on the port you have selected to send mail from, they may have it blocked on their network.
The default smtp port is 25.
Webmail is one way around this. Or, you can check with your provider to see if they have an alternate port you can/should use for smtp with authentication.

Adobe digital and public library books

I am unable to transfer public library books from the Adobe Digital, to my Nook HD Tablet. I am using version 2.0 for the first time. I used to have an older version, and I did not have any trouble transferring books to my e-reader. Also, my Nook used to show up in the left-side panel, and all I had to do with the book was drag and drop - that feature seems not to be present. I need help.

Tablets behave differently from dedicated eBook readers.
You need to install the Bluefire or Aldiko app for general Adobe DRM eBook reading (including Overdrive library books).
Then, copy books in .epub format from the PC to the tablet using a file manager such as Windows Explorer or Finder.
Alternatively, download the Overdrive app, for borrowing, downloading and reading library books without needing to use a PC or ADE at all.

Iphone 5c and Macbook Air wifi problems

Just bought an iphone 5c and got the new macbook air in September. Everything has been great with my macbook air until I got my iphone 5c. The problem comes when I have both the phone and laptop together, connected to my home wifi. Only one will connect at a time, on my iphone it wont even recognise my home wifi but as soon as I disconnect my laptop the wifi becomes visable. I know its not a router issue, Ive turned it on and off and it only works for about 5 minutes. Can anyone tell me what the think is going on or how to fix it? Thanks, Eva

What exactly have you tried? Did you try different security settings? Which ones did you try? Were there any more successful than another? Which one was it on when it worked for a few seconds? Is the router running the latest firmware?

System Exec and Call Library Function problems

I have working c code. The code connects to a server; makes a request; and gets a return. It works from the command line. In LV there are problems. If I try running it using the System Exec vi, I get the response I expect but not until the connection with the server is broken. This is unacceptible and not the way it works from the command line.
If I try to use the Call Library Function Node, the response is even stranger. I just call the routine that is supposed to connect to the server. It fails.
I attached the vi's. As you will see, they are very simple.

Twitter and Weibo integration & Wifi problem

1.I've been trying to login to twitter and weibo for more than a dozen time..
but keep telling me unable to verify account name and password..
2. The wifi connection became very unstable after upgrading to Mountain Lion..
It shows connected, but can't go to the website obviously.. I have to turn off and turn on the wifi again to solve..
I'm pretty sure my network is fine cause my iPhone has connected to wifi network as well...

10.10.3 slow, wifi problem etc...

I am running a Mac Mini 2011, 2ghz 17, 8 gigs of ram and 1tb. I had Yosemite installed and was working fine, no problems until 10.10.3
1. Wifi - slow, un responsive
2. Applications - slow to open and unresponsive at times
3. iTunes - trying to watch playback on trailers, and they buffer (wifi problem)
4. Photos - just not a fan but maybe it will grow on me
I don't typically complain, but this is getting a bit frustrating as this is my main computer. Other are my work laptops running windows. Also, since I watch a lot of content via the net etc. and pretty much everything is at a dead stop. I have yet to really check every application or function but assume they will perform the same.
I have reset my network a few time, cleared out some old files and some restarts on the machine itself. Last resort will be to wipe it clean and try a new install. Any other suggestions before I take this route?

I ran a few applications and started looking at the logs. There is one common theme. This is what I found. The Raid failure to me is confusing. I have 2 500gig drives but its setup as 1TB, no raid configuration. Let me know your thoughts on this. I figured, this may be what is causing all the other problems.

Use of EtreCheck to solve WiFi problem

I had a problem with my MacBook Air (original) running 10.7.5. Although the icon in the menubar showed a WiFi connection, I couldn't get any data from the network. Also Airport Utility couldn't see any of the four base stations on my network. I'll leave out the blind alleys and just say what I did to solve the problem.
I rebooted in Safe Mode, and found the problem went away. I ran EtreCheck and saved the results. I rebooted normally and found the WiFi problem was still there. I ran EtreCheck again and saved the results. On comparing the results, I found AirParrot kernel extensions were running in normal boot mode. I figured that might interfere with normal WiFi functioning.
I went to the AirParrot website and found a removal tool. I downloaded that and ran it. On rebooting, the problem was gone. EtreCheck confirmed that the AirParrot extensions were no longer present. Case closed.
I hope this will help someone use a similar method to solve her WiFi, or indeed, other problems. All thanks to the experts on this discussion group who have labored to solve people's problems and put EtreCheck together as a useful tool!

It sounds like you don't have access to your rescue email and would like to reset your security questions. I found an article with information that should help:
If you decide not to provide a rescue email address, you can't reset your security questions and answers yourself later in the event you can't remember the answers to your questions. You'll need to contact iTunes Store support to have your questions and answers reset.

10.10.1 Bluetooth-linked Wifi problems continue

I upgraded to Version 10 in fall 2014 and immediately had WiFi problems: intermittently page loads would either timeout or take a long time. Eventually, I realized is was caused by my Bluetooth connection. So, I have ditched my external screen, keyboard and mouse for the last few months.
I have just tried switching on bluetooth for the 1st time in months. And guess what? No internet pages load via WiFi. I switch bluetooth off and it works (hence I can post this comment!).
This is kind of annoying and I am completely shocked that we are now on 10.10.1 and it's still not solved. Anyone solved this or have the same problem?

OK. This is getting more interesting. I am at the office today - so a different WIFI and still the same problems with Internet connection when Bluetooth is switched on. However, I noticed this: I switch on Bluetooth and Internet does not work (sometimes with Bluetooth on it works but very, very slowly). I connect a Magic Mouse. I then use the mouse. It is almost impossible to use. There is a LAG an at some points it stops moving as if it has lost the signal. I had an idea: Switch off the WIFI. I did that, and the mouse works perfectly, immediately.
Conclusion: it's not just Bluetooth that interferes with WIFI signal. It's the WIFI signal that also interferes with the Bluetooth signal.
This is a MAC hardware problem as I have used different WIFIs and different Bluetooth devices. I believe, Googling this, that it might be the people like me that have this Mac: MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
I assume that Apple is not investigating that as it's a small subset of all Mac users.

Problems with audio books from public library downloading to wrong place.

Since updating software to ios5, my books from public library no longer get downloaded to "audiobooks". Now they get downloaded to "playlists". When i am in the middle of listening to a book, and switch to listening music, it will lose my place in the book. Before the software update, this was not a problem. Is there anything I can do to get my books to download into the "audiobooks" again?

You need to wait until Overdrive get updated. That is a know problem.

With the Nanos, you should have no problem lending them loaded with audiobooks from Librivox, etc.
As for the iPod Touches, I'm not sure the question is whether you should allow patrons to set up the device for personal accounts, but whether you can prevent them from doing so. Prepare to to a factory restore every time one is returned.

IPhone and connecting to college campus network!! helppp

Ok, i have a problem connecting to my college campus' wireless network. We have a few different networks all with security enabled. When i go to click on the network it brings me to a page where i have to choose from DHCP, Static, ect..and i have to enter IPs and a DNS; and more other information.
When you connect to the networks with a laptop it connects automatically and the internet browser directs you to the schools web page asking for school info such as an email and password and stuff. This doesnt happen with the iPhone; cant even connect to the network itself....anyone having this issue?? or know how i can fix this? thankss

yeahh i was thinking that, just ask the school or IT dept. I dont think they'll be able to help me with an iPhone and getting onto the network, they'll just be like i dont know, its not a regular computer. I guess ill have to look for the IT department.
