Color 1.5 Tutorial

I have Final Cut Pro for my Macbook Pro and I have Color installed automatically, I am traditionally a strict final cut pro user, usually cutting, coloring, transitioning most of everything in FCP. But I have decided to start using Color to get better results. But I am very lost as to the format of Color. I don't understand how to import clips, or begin coloring. If anyone could direct me to a online video tutorial or something that would be awesome. Usually I am great with this stuff but I can't figure this out.

Hi there's the Studio 006 Podcast which is a nice beginners guide to Color.

Steve Hullfish has some introductory tutorials on Pro Video Coalition

There's also some introductory tutorials here

Good luck, once you get your head around it , it's a really cool program! Don't be afraid, you can't break anything

  • How can I get the foreground/background swatches in my panel?

    Howdy all-
    Been loving this forum, it's been extremely helpful getting started with Configurator. I'm pulling together a panel for my students to guide their retouching work and the last thing I am trying to get in is the foreground/background swatches like at the bottom of the toolbar. Is this possible? I haven't found it in the provided libraries- is it something that would need a script or am I looking in the wrong places?
    thanks so much again for the forum and any help anyone can provide.

    Hi
    You can only switch foreground/background color   or   set them to default color
    As in the previous thread ( by ipf55 )
    you have the possibility to insert the color picker.
    so the workaround is :
    switch to foreground ( or background as you prefer)
    choose a color with the color picker button (Now the foreground is  set with the color you choosed)
    then repeat te step for the background
    to choose a color you could also ( e.g.) insert into your panel a button that open the swatches panel
    This is the link to develop a panel with the caratheristic i suppose you are looking for

  • Match, drag and drop game

    Hello,
    My name is Nikola and I'm newbie with AS.
    Here’s the thing:
    With the help of some tutorial I’ve created a 'game', where user selects objects, drags it, and drops it on correct shape/color/object. Tutorial is “1 to 1” based, so you can match one object and one target only.
    Now, I would like to have multi objects, and one target on which I can drop them.
    Example:
    TARGET: blue square
    OBJECTS: blue star, blue circle, etc.
    I got stucked with Instance and Movie clip names since they have to be unique, and the code itself works on the principle of names paring - object: name, target: "target"+object name.
    Here’s a code for “1 to 1” option:
    var objectoriginalX:Number;
    var objectoriginalY:Number;
    shape_mc.buttonMode = true;
    shape_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, pickupObject);
    shape_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropObject);
    shape2_mc.buttonMode = true;
    shape2_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, pickupObject);
    shape2_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropObject);
    function pickupObject(event:MouseEvent):void {
    event.target.startDrag(true);
    event.target.parent.addChild(event.target);
    objectoriginalX = event.target.x;
    objectoriginalY = event.target.y;
    function dropObject(event:MouseEvent):void {
    event.target.stopDrag();
    var matchingTargetName:String = "target" + event.target.name;
    var matchingTarget:DisplayObject = getChildByName(matchingTargetName);
    if (event.target.dropTarget != null && event.target.dropTarget.parent == matchingTarget){
    event.target.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, pickupObject);
    event.target.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropObject);
    event.target.buttonMode = false;
    event.target.x = matchingTarget.x;
    event.target.y = matchingTarget.y;
    } else {
    event.target.x = objectoriginalX;
    event.target.y = objectoriginalY;
    I hope that I was clear,
    thanks,
    Nikola

    for your special example give all matching instances an identical leading Letter:
    like: bStar,bSquare,bHeart for all blue Shapes and gStar,gHeart etc. for all green ones...you get the idea
    then change your function
    function dropObject(event:MouseEvent):void
        event.target.stopDrag();
       //check if the leading Letter for both Sprites is the same
        if (testIfMatch(event.target.name, event.target.dropTarget.parent.name))
            event.target.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, pickupObject);
            event.target.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropObject);
            event.target.buttonMode = false;
        else
            event.target.x = objectoriginalX;
            event.target.y = objectoriginalY;
    function testIfMatch(_drop:String, _target:String):Boolean
        if (_drop.substr(0, 1) == _target.substr(0, 1))
            return true;
        else
            return false

    I am looking for an online tutorial on how to do color correction if the video one is working with has color bars.  This happens on a lot of analog videotapes that come to me.  I know what my scopes are suppposed to look like when analyzing color bars, but I need something that shows me how to get from A to B.
    If I Google some varient of "color correction video color bars," all I get is information on calibrating monitors.
    I am using Premiere CS5.5

  • Removing color casts, and correcting colors to match reference materials? any guides/tutorial/videos

    I have been looking for tutorials showing how to use SpeedGrade. I am now comfortable with the UI enough to use it after watching these: http://www.youtube.com/user/AdobeTV/videos?query=speedgrade
    I am looking for tutorials that show how to do a couple things, first I would like to be able to remove any color casts. In photoshop to do this you can use a curves layer and use the set white point color picker and click somplace that is supposed to be white. and in premier you could do something similar using the Fast Color Corrector. So basically I am looking for a way to target an area in a frame that should be grays, In Anime, the eyes generally will always be shades of gray, so that is what I would target usually when working with anime in photoshop/premiere. If anyone knows of a tutorial that shows how to do this type of color cast removal color correction in SpeedGrade could you please share a link.
    Some of the older 80's and 90's anime on film, the film has aged and that is where the color cast came from. There is also a loss of color information across the board. For instance in the below picture. The sky is supposed to be more blue instead of teal/sea green.
    Another thing is back in the 80s and 90s a lot of Anime worked from limited color palletes; something like maybe 16 colors total, so a lot of colors are used repeatedly. So even with only a limited amount of reference material I should be able to get the corrections close. (I dont have reference clips for every single episode, only a handful of scenes from a handful of episodes.)
    I have some reference material showing approximately what the colors should be. So my next question is if anyone knows of any tutorials/guides/videos showing how to use SpeedGrade to color correct a clip so that the colors match up with the colors used in a reference clip
    I was also wondering about auto correction based on a reference clip, although I am guessing this is still not possible.
    When I watched the websiminar: http://seminars.adobeconnect.com/_a227210/p738pxm9zs0/  at about 43 minutes into it, a feature is shown that automatically adjust the color using a clip that contains a colorchart.
    I was wondering if a tool like that could analyse a clip start to finish, to create a pallete of used colors, and then compare that to the colors used in another clip and correct them. (a feature like this would probably be more useful/accurate in anime than it would liveaction but who knows.)
    Another UI related question:
    I did have one question, the only place I see to access the colorwheels is in the looks tab, my video I am working on, just manages to fit at 100% in the monitor.
    So I would prefer to hide or collapse the different looks(maybe even with a hotkey) so that I can access the color tools that it is covering, I attached a picture of what I am talking about. I know pressing "P" hides everything at the bottom, and figured maybe there is already a way to hide/minimize/collapse the look presets to access the tools behind them without shrinking down the size of the monitor preview.

    There is a special grading filter called "Color match" which can assist in cross-referencing the black/white/gray levels from one playhead to another but it's not documented yet. The suggested way to set black/white/gray points in Sg is to adjust it visually, using the waveforms as a guide, but there's no chance of doing that for something as small as a character's eye. There's no "eyedropper" picker on the primary grading panel because Sg isn't a correcting tool, but a cinematic grading tool. 99% of the time the end result of an Sg grading session is a long way from what the camera pixels actually recorded.
    If all you are doing is reversing a color cast  then Speedgrade isn't the right tool to use - you should be working in Premiere Pro (with the Fast or 3-Way Color Correctors). If you're a Photoshop person the UI is much more recognizable, it'll handle all the native footage you can throw at it, and you get your B-G-W eyedroppers.
    In Speedgrade CS6 you cannot hide the Presets panel in the Look or Mask tab. The UI is really designed for use in a two-monitor system (which all professional colorists will have), and/or with a hardware controller (which means you can keep the entire  bottom panel hidden).

  • In Katie's Cafe tutorial, how did she create her color sample?

    In the Adobe Muse tutorial for Katie's Cafe.  How was the color sample created.  She just had us drag it onto our Muse document, but how was the color palette created initially so that it can be used in your Muse document?
    Thanks!

    I think I figured out the solution to the problem people are having.  It has to do with the order that you do things when you try to bring in colors from somewhere else.  If you try to just take colors from somewhere else (ie copy and past them) muse will not recognize them as swatches and even if you take the colors and put them in rectangles in muse and save them to a library muse will still not recognize them as swatches.  What you have to do to create a color set like she did in the tutorial is as follows....
      Copy/Paste your colors into muse
      Make rectangle objects in muse that contain the colors
      Open up the swatches window and click add swatch
      Select one of the colors you added - click ok
      Repeat this process for all the color rectangles you have made
    Now you can use the selection tool to select all the colors you made and create a library with them that will work.
    The issue people seem to be having (and that I myself had) is that when you just copy/paste colors into muse it does not automatically make a swatch for the new color.  When she uses the swatch library in the demo it does add the swatches automatically.  This happens because she went through the process of creating the swatches in muse first (which you are never shown) and not just copy/pasting the colors from some other program.

  • Color DVD tutorial

    So the manual mentions a DVD tutorial for Color, and it's been discussed here as well. I have a disc called Final Cut Studio DVD tutorial and another called Final Cut Studio Tutorials, and while they cover Final Cut, DVD Studio, Motion and Soundtrack, I don't see any mention of Color.
    So where is the obvious place that I've overlooked?

  • Tutorial : fix link color issue under linux

    Dear all,
    Problem
    I use a dark theme and the linls in skype interface are unreadable.
    I opened topic about this a long time ago, but unfortunately no one could help me. This topic is now archived and read-only, so the purpose of this message is to bring the solution to the people encoutering the same issue.
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Linux-archive/Change-the-link-color-in-skype/m-p/3522561/highlight/tru...
    Context
    I'm using :
    - debian jessie amd64 (up to date)
    - KDE (up to date) with a dark theme (for example obsidian coast)
    - the current version of skype (4.3.0.37), installed according to https://wiki.debian.org/fr/skype
    1) Remove the package kde-config-gtk-style if it is installed :
    aptitude purge kde-config-gtk-style
    Indeed, this create ~/.kde4 and if this directory exists (even if it is empty!!), you'll get the dark blue link.
    2) Also remove or rename this directory if it exists (~ = for example /home/toto).
    mv ~/.kde4 ~/.kde4.old
    3) Edit ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals with your favorite text editor. In the [Colors:View} section, fix ForegroundLink value as follows :
    [Colors:View]
    ForegroundLink=156,212,25
    Note : you could also fix the other ForegroundLink values using sed if you want, but this is the only value used by skype.
    4) Run skype, link should be now ok. If not, check whether Skype > Options > General > Choose style, you shoud select Desktop settings and re-run skype. If it doesn't work, try to rename ~/.Skype into ~/.Skype.old (to run skype with the default profile) and re-run skype.

  • Looking for a good tutorial for converting color to b&w in Elements 10

    I have located tutorials that offer advice/instructions on conversion however they all seem to be in earlier versions and the dropdowns and screens are not the same as 10.  I am looking for well prepared tutorials that focus on converting RAW color to b&w.  I am not overly interested in the fad of placing color objects within the b&w photo, but I am interested in giving my b&w photos more definition.

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Encore CS6\Library\Education
    ...and so on for all of the folders
    Please NOTE that you do not NEED to uninstall Premiere Pro CS6 (as indicated in some discussions) unless you have a space problem... CS6 programs will sit quietly on your hard drive while you use CC programs... and if you ever have a problem with Encore CS6 activation, you will only have to reinstall Premiere Pro CS6 to reactivate Encore CS6... and some people have reported problems with trying to uninstall only Premiere Pro CS6 while keeping Encore CS6 active

    I don't know what happend but archlinux.puzzle.ch seems to be pretty slow these days. While I got ~ 2.4MB/s before, now I get about 150KB/s. I'm sitting in ZH-city and my router is connected to Cablecom.
    BTW: Has archlinux.worldweb2000.com something to do with puzzle.ch? pacman connects there everytime I sync my packages..
    # pacman.conf
