Color brick dropper problem

The color dropper and loupe read the colors fine but when I click the mouse the brick defaults to the red color. If I click and hold, the brick shows the correct chosen hue but release the mouse and the brick changes from the correct hue to the red. I think its a bug. I've not had this issue before. Any suggestions? I'm using the most updated Aperture, Lion.

If the User Interface is not working correctly, it often helps to remove the user preferences:
To remove the Aperture Preferences from the User Library:
Quit Aperture, if it is running.
Log off and on again, to ensure that the process is really quitting (only on MacOS X Lion).
Open the User Library (from the Finder's "Go" menu; hold down the ⌥-key, until "Library" appears in the Go-drop down menu and select it.)
In the Library folder open the "Preferences" folder and drag "com.apple.Aperture.plist" to the Desktop.
Relaunch Aperture.
Test
For me this worked, when I had the same problem.

  • Color Eye Dropper Problem?

When using the color correction adjustments, the eyedropper often returns with an orange hue as in the screenshot below where the eyedropper (which disappeared during the screenshot) is over the dog's eye.  It almost doesn't matter what I put the eyedropper over, no hue is correct (not even close) and the results from the eyedropper don't seem to correspond with my image at all. I can move the eyedropper from one area of the image to an adjacent one of a totally different color and the eyedropper may may not change.  The loupe has the same problem, not returning color values that correspond to the color under the crosshairs.
I can usually fix it by zooming in or out, sometimes requiring multiple tries but the next time I use the eyedropper it may work incorrectly again.
Any ideas what is going on?

The loupe has the same problem, not returning color values that correspond to the color under the crosshairs.

The eyedropper is not supposed to show "color values", it will show the hue of a color.
The hue, as you probably know, is only one of the three basic components (hue, saturation, luminance) of a color. Aperture displays the hue as a fully saturated color, with maximum luminosity.
So a white highlight with a little yellow hue from the warm light of an incandescent lamp will be displayed as a bright, intense, orange color (hue) sample, which might be very confusing.
If you look closely into your cute (puppy?) dog's eyes, you will notice the small white highlights reflecting the lamplight in his shiny blue eyes. The hue of these highlights is yellow-orange, and that is exactly what the eyedropper produced as a sample. On a uniform white or gray surface, with little random hue, the eyedropper probably will produce a motley pattern of all colors of the rainbow as hue-samples.
I'd need to see more of your samples to confirm this theory, but my Aperture implementation does exactly this.

  • Eyedropper in color brick off target

It seems that the eyedropper in the color brick is reading the hue at a different location than where it is pointing. I am trying to zoom in on a purple fringe and I am just not able to capture it. Anyone else having trouble with this function?
I have also some doubts about the accuracy of the normal arrow pointer, although less obvious.

I'm having a similiar issue with Aperture 3. Using the loupe to sample my colors. I'm using a Spydercube to calibrate my photos, and the measurements aperture is giving me are clearly no accurate. The specular highlight in the silver ball is measuing in the 110-117 range, while the white face is measuring in the 220s-230s.
Also, the numbers will not dynamically update as I make changes to settings. For example, if I raise the exposure, I have to turn the loupe off and on to see the updated measurements.
Finally, when I measure black, gray and white for Tint, it throws the entire photo into the reds.
    Something is really off!

  • Color shift printing problem from LR solved!!

Check this discussion for workaround to the color shift printing problem in LR. It's for the 3800, but I assume it also applies to other Epson printers, and quite possibly to other printer vendors.

Yes it applies to Canon as well.

  • HP LaserJet 400 Color MFP M475dw Problems in OS 10.9.4

I'm using a 2013 MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 9 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.  I connect via wifi to the referenced printer (for almost a year now).  Since updating to OS 10.9.4 I am able to print only one document at a time.  Attempting to print a second document generates the message "Printer is not connected."  If I turn the printer off and back on again, I'm able to print one document.  Then the same thing occurs again.  I have done the following so far, all to no avail:
Downloaded and installed latest driver (specifically for Mavericks) from HP
Checked for Apple software updates and found none
Reset the printing system (per instructions elsewhere in these forums)
I updated to OS 10.9.4 on July 5th and that is when this problem started.  Where do I go from here???

And BTW, here's a repost of what I posted on July 7th:
I'm running a 2013 Macbook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, OS version 10.9.4 (updated to this OS version 5 days ago, on July 2nd).  For a little less than a year I've been printing to a HP LaserJet 400 Color MFP M475dw via wireless connection.  A few weeks ago I began to have numerous "printer is not connected" events, and it reached the point I could not print anything - from my MacBook, my iPad Air, or my iPhone 5S.  I discovered there was an updated printer driver on HP's website, specifically for OS 10.9.  Downloaded and installed it, and the problem was seemingly solved.
Then I updated the OS to 10.9.4.  AARRRRGH!!!!!!  For the last 5 days, the printer will - sometimes - print the first document in a queue of 2 or more and then, while the printer is still "running," tell me the printer is not connected.  I turn the printer off and back on, get one print job, then have to repeat the process.  Here are all the things I've tried to resolve the issue:
Verified settings on the printer to make sure everything is set up properly
Restarted Airport Extreme, printer, and MacBook (multiple times) -- clarification:  I turned off both the MacBook and the printer, then unplugged Airport for a few minutes, replugged it, restarted the printer, then restarted the MacBook
Reset the printing system (as suggested elsewhere in the Support forums), which basically removes all printers from the MacBook, then lets you add back those that you want - presumably with the most current driver(s).
Searched help/support forums on Apple, HP, and the internet in general
Found a firmware update for the printer on HP's website -- but it is not compatible with OS 10.9 (only goes up through 10.8).  I downloaded it and tried, even though 10.9 was not listed, and the "app" wouldn't even open.
All of these efforts have been to no avail.  The problem persists, and I'm at my wit's end how to solve it.  HELP, please..........anyone??????

  • HP 2605dn Color Laserjet firmware problem.... wny suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I installed the firmware upgrade on my color laserjet model 2605dn to resolve the red background printing problem with pdf documents.  The install utility appeared to install it and then I got the little smiley face that I understood meant that it went the way it was supposed to.  However, now the printer no longer displays lights or anything on the lcd display when powered up.  WHen first turned on, it goes through at least part of the start-up check and then seems to hand and stop.  when I turn it back off with the switch on the back, there is an audible click from somewhere inside as it powers down.
sooo....  am I correct in thinking that the firmware may be corrupted and that without the ability to reset or reload from the console, combined with no communcation with computer or network, that it's doa?  Or does someone hav a suggestion on how to address?  I'm not very knowledgable about printers, but am no stranger to electronics, instruments, etc...  in other words, I have no clue what to try next, but am comfortable trying about anything...
    Best Regards

I wonder whether anyone can give me advice on the above problem, thanks. Have upgraded to Firefox 9.

  • Has anyone solved the "washed out colors" / gamma correction problem?

I'm trying to create a high-quality slide show from pictures. I've tried iPhoto, iMovie, and FotoMagico. What they have in common in the Quicktime engine for compression. There seems to be a problem with washed-out colors - across all programs - when trying to export the slideshow. I've tried many different codecs (H.264, x264, Photo-JPEG, PNG, JPEG-2000), as well as a variety of settings and filter corrections. Nothing has been effective. Last year, I was able to use FotoMagico with the Photo-JPEG codec, and the photos looked great. This year, things are not working (see photo below). The folks at FotoMagico attribute problems to Quicktime. And since I've tried creating the slideshow on a variety of platforms, I have to agree.
And yes, I know this is a common problem - I've read many google links - but I wanted to see if there was any current workarounds / solutions.
    Any other options?
    Thanks.

Seriously Apple... this has been an issue for many years now!
Why can't this be fixed once and for all?
The ridiculous thing is that VLC play H.264 videos with much better colors than QT.
This question has been asked many many times over the years and i have yet seen a single reasonable explanation from Apple.
Here's a quick test of a color image screen recorded to a mov and viewed on screen together with the TIFF image (screen shot of everything in OS X 10.6.6)
The washed out look doesn't show as much in this simple color test but is very obvious in normal videos.
    http://screencast.com/t/qQFCKZ0lgg5
    1. TIFF image
    2. Screen recording of above image with Intermediate Codec, viewed in QT 10 (colors not 100% but ok)
    3. Same screen recording exported from Intermediate to H.264, viewed in QT 10 (colors washed out, red very wrong)
    4. Same H.264 video (viewed in VLC 1.1.5)
Will this problem ever be fixed, or just ignored until no one use H.264 anymore?
    Cheers

  • Brick Wall Problem: Array of Clusters, Size of array from reference

    Good Morning Forums,
I have hit a brick wall with my application and I am hoping somebody can help!
I have an array of clusters of indeterminate size (the cluster is generic, data contained not relevant.).
Inputs to the VI are: a reference to the array, and a variant containing the data.
My problem is I need to determine the array size from these two inputs and I cannot find a way to do it!
If the array contained a standard data type I can use the class name property to determine data type, and the size of the array returned from "select size" property to determine dimension size.  With this information i can cast the variant into the correct data type and use this to determine the size of the array.  If the data is a cluster the class name simply returns "cluster" so I cannot cast the variant and therefore am unable to determine the size.
I am not worried about casting the data (once i determine the size this bit is no issue), I just need to determine the size (and preferably number of dimensions) of the array. Can this be done?
    Cheers for any help

There seem to be a couple of potential solutions.:
#1 if the varient is created within LabVIEW you can wite size(s) to a varient attribute.  This would be pretty straightforward and easy to implement- I imagine you would have thought of that so you may not have access to the code writing cluster to varient and it gets a bit trickier.
#2 cast the varient to string and return string length-  this should give you a measure of total size and you would need to know the size per element of cluster (just cast one instance of cluster array to varient and then to string with size and size++) but this only returns the total size of the array since nDim arrays are actually stored sequentially.
    Hope this helped

  • K7N2GM2-ILSR color TV OUT Problem

I live in Argentina, we use PAL N, and I had to set BIOS to PAL NC option in order to see color in TV, this is not the problem.
However in middle of windows XP startup, color is missed (always speaking about TV OUT feature).
At nView configuration I´ve tried the Argentina Combination PAL N option (obviously) and every format available and none works.
Note that BIOS setup item: PAL NC looks like match with the TV format Argentina Republic (Combination) N/PAL
I think that the problem is located on VGA driver configuration or VGA driver itself, version running is 4467, the last one.
Other test I´ve made was to disable the controller through control panel, color was regained but obviously I´ve lost advantages of controller
    Any idea ???

  • 3 way color correction preview problem

I can't see any changes in Visual Mode on my external monitor. Its outputted from a Aja Kona LH. The changes are visible in FCP so I know its working but need to be able to see it on my calibrated HD JVC LCD.
I can see adjustments in numerical mode.
    Project is 1080 Prores.
    What am I missing?

    Thanks for the help folks.
I tried all the suggestions and I'm still having the problem. Its really hard to grade color when the little changes I make don't appear as I make them in the external monitor. I wonder if its a performance issue with my G5 and the HD prores files. I have the ATI X800 XT and 6 gigs of RAM. I can see the changes in the canvas but not on the monitor unless I uncheck then re-check the preview. I should be able to see the changes as I drag the Mids around the color wheel in realtime right? Again see it in realtime in the canvas just not in my external monitor.
    Maybe a Aja Kona problem?

  • Applet-Panel, background color and size problem

I am writing an applet with simple form.
Form is having 3 rows and 2 cols (label and textfield). Each row I want to display in different color. So I created each row with 2 separate panel (one for label and one for text field - of which I set the backgroung color).
The total form is in one panel with grid layout (2 colmns).
    My problems are
1)The space between label and text field (col width) can not be resized. I tried to use setSize but not giving any effect.
2)Another problem is when I am seting the background color, the textfield is also changing the color (textfield I want to white color only). This does not have any effect on Choice
3)The first label I wanted to use simple break but could not. I tried \n\t, \n, chr(13) + chr(10) etc but not getting any result so created separate panel.
    My code goes here:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class test1 extends Applet{
    protected TextField refnoTextField=null, payerTextField=null, amtTextField=null;

    Please help,
    manisha

I do not want to go into detail, but there are some hints you can follow.
I am talking about AWT, not swing, you should decide which one you will use and don't mix the two of them.
If you want to run your applet in current browsers without requiring the java plugin, you should be aware, that most browsers support old versions of java and many convenient methods and classes are missing :-(
    So
You can change the size of a label by putting it in a panel ( labelPanel ), whose layout is set to FlowLayout. Then you put in labelPanel another empty panel ( emptyPanel ), whose layout is set to null, and you set the width of the empty panel to whatever you want ( this is the gap between the label and the next component ), an the height to the least nonsero number possible, i.e. 1. Well, you can add to the labelPanel more components, if you wish. So, when you want a gap, use an empty panel with a fixed size.
You cannot use line break in a label. You should place more labels in a panel instead. I am not sure if the direction of FlowLayout can be set to vertical, but very probably it can. If so, that is your solution. If not - see what other layout managers you have available, but make sure your choice belongs to java.awt ! BorderLayout allows you to use up to three labels (=> 3 lines). And if nothing fits your needs, ... write a layout manager.
    Well, hope I could help.

  • Two Color Pdf Output Problem

I'm new with InDesign coming from a Quark background. I created a 28 page booklet with CMYK cover and two color interior (black & PMS spot color)
I'm working in CS4 and my print vendor is CS3. I have provided him with both the InDesign file saved down to .inx as well as high quality pdf with no color conversion so that the spot color will print as is.
My print vendor is telling me that the black screens/gradients are separating as RBG. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is my inexperience or his. I don't know what more to do with the file? Please advise.

Okay, I'm back to this issue. Apparently the printer is taking the individual pdf pages and marrying them up to printer pagination using Illustrator. Could this be why the Black is converting to RGB? What software should he be using to maintain the two colors?

  • AE Major color/work-flow problems in latest release

    Hello fellow After effects users,
I'm not usually one to bring up problems like this online but, recent changes to the "color" window have crippled my workflow. Ill describe the problems here and maybe there are new options I don't know of that can alleviate the challenge.
The color window is now seemingly a port of windows found in photoshop with a swatches panel and multiple color choosing options. This change however has brought on 2 major problems. First; the new "magnifying glass" color picker tool almost never chooses the exact color it highlights. The brightness and contrast selected are always slightly off for no explainable reason. In some cases, as in acquiring a color from another shape in AE, I can make a swatch of the color I want and use that. BUT, when I have a rasterized file, like a JPEG, it is impossible to match a color. There also is no Hex code box for colors, so no one stop way to copy and paste a color from one location to the next (my usual work around for faulty color pickers). This leaves, using Apple's built in color identifier (DigitalColor meter), then, switching back to AE to dial in the 3 parameters of hue, saturation, and brightness (or RGB) - an ok way to do things but way more cumbersome than previous methods.
Don't get me wrong; the swatches are amazing and have many great applications. I would not want them removed. There are just some things they cant do, especially with a color picker that does not work well.

Zach, in Preferences > General, is Use System Color Picker enabled? If so, you should disable this, and then you will see the same color picker dialog that After Effects has been using for several versions.
There has been no change to the color picker, and the Use System Color Picker option defaults to off but it sounds like this option may have been enabled for you at some point.

  • Power brick/ charging problem 2011 MBA.

My wife's 2011 13" MBA has suddenly stopped recognizing the charging cable when attached to the air, and so not charging at all. No recognition LED at all orange or green, nothing. I've done all the ususal stuff, switched power plugs, took off the extension cable, put it back on, ect, ect...
I was about to go see Apple but realized I have a 27" Apple LED display for my Mac Mini. I attached the charging cable from that display and walla! It took and started charging immidiatly. So that tells me its NOT the Air itself thats the problem, its the charging cable somehow. Its either the power brick and that cable or both of them. I looked up my year long Applecare ( I didnt purchase the additional 2 years ) and saw that I have at least until Dec 8th to get it in there to have the cable replaced after they do their own testing....but we know what the problem is. I bought the Air from MacMall, not Apple so they are assuming that its Dec 8th but its later than that and I can find my reciept from Mac Mall and find out and bring it with me.
ANYWAY....is or HAS anyone had any problems like this at all? With any other Mac? I have the new retina and my magnetic power adapter is different so I can't test it that way but it did work via the display. I guess I'm asking if anyone has any experience with ths issue?
    Thanks!
    Seattle

If I understand you right, you have already proven that it's the charger which is defect. So, go and have the charger replaced. Depending on what caused the defect you may get a new one under warranty.
If it's no hassle, take the MBA with you to test it on site with a new charger.
Other than that and FWIW, I'm sure you'll find other people who found their charger dead one day. Why, would that help?
