Color cast with Huey Pro

I am using a Huey Pro to calibrate my monitors for use with Aperture. After calibration both my MacBook Pro and iMac have a very red color cast.
Thanks,
Ken

have you tried reporting this on the pantone support site - if you do a search there, you'll find a couple of problems mentioning the same thing your seeing.
I have the same problem and it could be a broken calibrator.

  • Removing Color Cast with TIFF images?  (PSE 8)

    Hello,
Hoping someone can help.  I'm trying to "remove color cast" with TIFF images and I'm not seeing the option as available.  It works fine when I try to use it with JPEG images.
To be clear....I'm using PSE 8...after opening a picture (of course), on the top menu "Enhance", then "Adjust Color".  When I'm working with a TIFF image the option "Remove Color Cast" is not available/active.  It works fine with JPEG images.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Rich

Alternatively if you want to keep the file at 16 bit click File >>Open As >>Camera Raw
Then use the temperature and tint sliders to edit your tiff.

  • Red / brown color cast with Pantone Huey

    Hi all
I may have made a breakthrough in trying to figure out why my prints don't look like what's on the screen despite calibrating my monitor, downloading the lab's icc files, softproofing, etc.
I believe my Huey Pantone (the cheaper version, not the Pro) is creating a reddish/brownish color cast after calibration.
It became very apparent when I set my background to light gray and turned the Huey to "uncorrected". I checked the Pantone website and there seem to be known issues for this. I guess they'll send me a new device (tech support was backed up so I didn't get through).
    A couple of questions:
    1. For others that use Huey, how do you do your calibration? What do you set brightness too? Room lights on or off? Got any color casts, or is it clean? BTW, I have the dreaded left to right gradient, do you think that's affecting things?
    2. If you've got a good monitor profile, would you consider emailing it to me, just so I could play around with it and compare to my calibrated setting?
    Thanks!

  • Pink color cast on macbook pro 15" with retina display

    Hi,
I just got my very first apple computer a few weeks ago, but I had a annoying pink color cast of the display.
I changed my first deivce but even the 2nd had the same issue..
I noticed, that even the Apple logo shines in a pink cast, so it seems to be an issue of the display light itself.
Trying to calibrate the display with a spyder did not work, i got a very strange green color cast what seems to be clear, if the main problem is not the display itself,
    but the display light.
I went to the Apple Sore in Hamburg and I found out, that all new macbook pros 15" with retina display had the same issue, but not older macbooks or some  macbook pro 15" with retina display from clients.
As a photographer, I find this pink cast very annoying and I gave back my 2nd macbook pro 15" with retina display..
Is there a way, to get a macbook pro 15" with retina display without a pink cast, where the Apple logo shines in pure white instead of a pink color cast?
I don´t want a pink apple logo, nor a display with a pink cast..

  • Screen Calibration with Huey Pro

    Hey all,
I've used Huey Pro software (from work) in the past to calibrate my laptop screen. It had been several months since I had updated it, so I borrowed the calibrater again and I've been trying to get it to work.
I cannot for the life of me calibrate the screen. It's really blown out, much too light. After the sensor measures the room light, it goes to the screen that asks you if you can see all of the rings of contrast on the sample graphics, and mine are always far too light, blown out. When you go to the next step, it asks you to adjust the contrast control. The only means to do this I've found so far is the Universal Access panel, and it only makes it brighter. I currently have it at the lowest contrast.
Is there someplace else I can adjust contrast? Is there someone that's familiar with this calibrater? Does this mean that my screen is going out? Please let me know if you can help.
    Thanks, Dani

Hi, Dani. Why not ask the people who make and support the Huey Pro?

  • Color management with Officejet Pro 8500

I am trying to print photos with my new Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless.  The photos come out dark and generally not as accurate as the Officejet 7310xi that I am replacing.  Is there a way to tell the driver to let the application (or Windows) manage the color rather than the printer?  This was possible with my 7310xi (and my beloved 7960 that unfortunately does not have a full-featured Vista driver).
If I want better photo printing should I just switch to a Photosmart Premium All-in-one Fax?  Does it have better drivers for photo printing?

Since you had the Officejet 7310 already installed I would suggest setting the port for the 7310 driver to be the same as the Officejet Pro 8500 and use the 7310 driver.  It should be compatible, and the 7310 driver provides more color controls.

  • Huey pro and bad colors with photoshop or on windows

I begin to be realy unhappy with my W700.
If somebody use here this material at full capability, it will notice than huey pro create an icc profil for the display monitor on Vista or Seven.
If you use as this the profil and leave association with Huey/monitor, the colors looks good on my W700 for the destop but are completly false on Photoshop, Acrobat or Windows photo display. The red is missing. Instead of the red color, i have somethint like a yellow/brown. If i want the red on theses softwares, i need to use a Lenovo Brightview profil (downloaded on the lenovo support)
Hardware problem or gadget technology ?
I wasting three days with no result. It seems than not a lot persons use this calibration display or checked it.
I don't believe i'm the only one having problem with the calibration display.

  • Can someone please help a new owner of a Pixma Pro-100 with a color cast problem?

Despite setting it up correctly with the drivers supplied on the CD for my Windows 7 64-bit laptop, I'm getting a slight pink color cast on both Canon's Fine Art Museum Etching and Glossy Plus II papers. It is neither a monitor calibration nor a software processing (white balance) issue, since I printed exactly the same file on my old Pixma IP4840 without any problem whatsoever. Unfortunately the IP4840 cannot handle the heavier grade media, nor print exhibition grade quality.
I have tried adjusting the C, M, Y values according to the print pattern as recommended, without any significant improvement. I have used both the Pro and ICC profiles with similar lack of success.
In desperation I downloaded the 32-bit driver to try on my Windows 8 desktop, also to no avail.
I'm sincerely hoping there's a simple solution to what has thus far been a disappointing debut to the Pro series.
    Kindest regards,
    Richard

no, I didn't ask to burn a picture....this is why I am confused to how the picture got on there.
I understand what you are saying regarding the multi-session thing (how do I avoid this if my other cds with photos on them have this, and I don't know they do?)
but what I do know is that cd had photos on it (it definately wasn't full, and maybe that is why I haven't had a problem with others...they have all been full) and no one else uses my Mac, so I know no one else put the picture on that cd. I may have inadvertantly burned the picture, but if I did, I don't know what I did to make it burn the picture onto the cd.....
The only thing that happened was I opened iphoto so I could save some of the pictures that were already on the disc, but when I went to look for the pictures on the cd, the only thing that was on it, was an iphoto picture....which I didn't ask to be put there.....
I have previously burned pictures onto CD using my Mac with no problem, and I've pulled pictures off CD that were burned using a PC. So I guess I need to know how to determine if the cds have this multi-session thing going on?

  • Red Color Cast when printing with Canon Pixma Pro 9000

My printer is giving me a horrible red color cast after the latest software update. The color cast can also be seen in Preview and in the print window. No changes to drivers have been made. Printer worked fine before the update.
Has anyone else found this problem and offered a solution?

    You may find it helpful.
Thanks, but if you look in the archives of the Apple ColorSync Users List, you'll find thousands of posts from his Mac dating back to the beginning of the List.
The principle is that you configure your device colour spaces to the largest gamut of which they are capable, calibrate them to a stable condition, characterise that condition in a measured test chart, and build ICC device profiles for those characterisations in your ICC profiling package of choice.
You then capture and correct colour with correct colour previews, resulting in normalised exposures in an ideal CIE colour space. With you normalised exposures, you convert into output condition 1, output condition 2, output condition n which is what repurposing is about.
But you do no apply a gamma change on top of the colour managed rendering. That is incorrect by definition. You apply your gamma change as part of the colour correction in order to get your normalised exposure.
If you imagine this in a prepress process, then you can forget the concept of determinate rendering which is the bedrock of the ICC architecture. If you as photographer do a gamma correction on top of your presentation print or proof print, then you can claim that you have a presentation print, but you cannot contractually claim that you have a proof print as your proof print is a colour correction on top of the colour management system. If Apple Aperture allows the user access to colour correction on top of colour management, then that is a bug in the application. Sorry ...

  • Huey Pro and Win7 color profil - W700

    Hi,
    I have a w700 with Win7 business and Huey Pro 1.24.
If I calibrate the screen all works perfectly. The problem is I use the Huey profil by default for my build in screen on Win7 color management, the red are not red on Win7 image viewer or Photoshop.
If i want something looking good i have to use the Lenovo maxbright display profil.
If i try to reload (reload button) the Huey pro profil on windows color manager, i get an message error.
If somebody have an idea ?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Same here. Reds are way off.
Recently I attended a colormanagement workshop by X-Rite and mentioned that problem with the Huey Pro built into some Lenovo Models. The verbal reply was shocking: The speaker (X-Rite ) knew about this problem and named Huey Pro a 'Toy' certainly not meant for serious photographers. This I heard from X-Rite, no kidding. So this feature is only a useless marketing gimmick between Adobe and Lenovo, nothing more. And we paid for it some extra $$.
Furthermore, the same person strongly advised me to disable the built in Huey Pro and properly calibrate the screen (W701) with a professional unit in order to get correct colors.
I followed this advice and now the colors are right and the prints come out as I am expecting them to be - no more hues and/or color casts.
As a photographer using the W701 often and allover the place I need to calibrate it every 10 days to 2 weeks.
For me this is a sad issue and does not raise the reputation of Thinkpads.
Apart from that I am very happy with this powerfull machine.
Hope this helps others to remedy their color problem with this machine.

  • Adobe Camera RAW (All Versions) Import Canon .CR2 / RAW images with an orange / green color cast.

All versions of Adobe Camera RAW including the latest 7.3 import .CR2 images with a greenish / orange color cast.
Tested on 7D, and 5D III
Makes Hardwood floors, and flesh tones look abysmal.
Canon's Digital Photo Professional renders the colors fine, as does ACDSee 5.0 Pro (when viewing)  Exporting from ACDSee however is another story as things look even worse than Adobe.  DPP can export perfectly.
Changes to Color Gammut / Space have little or no effect.

  • Pro-100 terrible disk printing color cast

I am getting a terrible yellow/orangecolor cast when printing disks on my Pro100 printer.  I'm using the latest Easy Photoprint EX software on Windows 7 64-bit to print on Verbatim AquaAce Glossy disks.  These disks printed beautifully on the Epson Artisan 730 printer I used to own.  Literally no color issues ever.  However on the Pro-100 prints them up borderline unusable.
All other prints from the printer on regular and photo paper turn out perfectly.  I've literally never owned a printer with output this good - except for the disks.  I'm using the "Printable Disk (recommended)" setting with print quality set to "high".
The Photoprint software has ZERO color controls so I am unable to correct the color cast in software.  What's going on here?  Do I have any other options to try and fix this?

The fact you paper prints look great.  And you tried two different brands of DVD's with the same results tells us something.
The printer and the computer is working OK.  There is somethign else that is awry.  Some setting is worng.  With out knowing your complete process it is not possibile to pin point it here.  More info from you as to what you actually do is needed.
    Exactly what you do!
Switching disks is not likely to help.  You don't need the 'High' quality seting as 'Standard' works well..

  • How to Recover a Dark Picture with a Heavy Color Cast

I just posted this article about how to recover a dark picture with a heavy

    others.

None taken. I am unfamiliar with ACR and would love to see (compare) what it
could do with the sample PNG file in the article, and how much time it took.
The results I achieved in the article took only a few minutes to
complete--though as I mention below, it took more than a few minutes to get
to the point where I could do it in a few minutes.
I happened across a web site one day discussing the techniques in Margulis'
LAB Color book, which interested me enough to purchase it. I found the book
very enlightening and have seen incredible results using the techniques he
describes as applied to my various images. I've also ready his Professional
Photoshop book which focuses more on CMYK, and found many techniques in
    there just as enlightening.
Ultimately the tools and techniques used are irrelevant if you get the
results you want... but if you find one that works faster, easier or better,
then certainly you should employ it.
I have no problem working in RGB, CMYK or LAB and find benefits from each.
The particular sample image I used in the article was one that I've spent
(too much) time cleaning up in various ways and in various color spaces (or
combinations thereof). It became my "poster child" image to work on as I
continue to build my Photoshop skills. The approach I used in the article
was the one I found most to be the fasted with the most effective results.
The original was a 6MP JPG file. I reduced it to the size in the article and
then worked on that size for the remaineder of the article. The resutls are
    equivelant in the fullsize file.

  • PP Program Monitor displays with a color cast

    Hi all,
Having trouble with the display in the Program monitor. I'm working with still images at the moment. All the images have a strong blue cast when previewing. They look fine when exported, or if you click on the image to reposition, the color seems to correct, but as soon as I play the sequence the color cast comes back. Also, getting the same cast with .AVI video.
I am only having this issue on my laptop, all works fine on my desktop PC. Both machines are PC's running vista. I've also tried clearing my preferences and reinstalling PP. No luck.
I'm working in NTSC DV now, but have tried creating projects in HDV and others, and still have the problem.
Also, I've tried resizing the images, changing color spaces, etc, nothings worked. The images now are jpegs.
On another side note, opening the reference monitor causes PP to have an unexpected error and crash. Every time. Although this is not really the issue I am worried about at the moment, it might be relevant?
I've posted a sample of what the preview looks like here: www.jessicamans.com/PremierProCS4Issue/index.html
Thanks in advance for your help!
