Color categories for calendar on my iphone

I currently use Entourage 2008 and have a family Exchange account. I would like to be able to have my wife who uses Outlook and I to share a calendar and be able to view them from our respective iphones.
My goal is to be able to see her calendar and mine at the same time and be able to tell which scheduled items are mine as well as which are my wife's. I would hope we could do this via color coded schedules.
I have tried doing this via a shared google calendar but everything is one color.
Also the iphone (or any mobile device apparently) won't access a group calendar on exchange.

Yes, I have tried turning off and then turning back on the phone. Still the same: calendar very very slow.
That is not a reset, it's a restart. As Ingo2711 already said:
Reset - press both home as sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears (ignore red slider).

I'm having trouble with a sync alert.  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is my iphone (3G) or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Anybody know the default device and if it can be and if the other can be selected if desired
Also, I don't see any way to do the sync on an individual entry basis for calendar.  Looks like it will only do all of them at once.  I'd like to go through them one by one to confirm which entry is correct.
    Thanks

Maybe you should get new friends.
I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.

  • Color categories for appointment in calendar

I just got a new computer.  Was operating in Windows 7, now 8 with Microsoft Office 365.  The data, contacts and calendar was pulled over from my Outlook 2007 to the new Outlook 2013.  I love the color coded category feature I used to have.
I don't have an IMAP account for this email...it is not a gmail. It is a work email (POP) that i use Outlook 2013 for my email organization. From previous appointments that were transferred over - if I had a color category, it shows up when I open the appointment.
In new appointments I don't have this option.  Tag shows Low or High Importance and Private but that's it.  How can I get it to show on all the appointments I'd like to set?

    Hi,
From the description, when you create a new appointment in Outlook 2013, you cannot see the
Categorize button in the Tags group, however, the button is available if you open an appointment which is transferred from Outlook 2007, am I correct? So, how did you transfer the old data from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2013?
Can you see the Categorize button from the Ribbon if we change to Mail pane?
In addition, when creating a new appointment, please click File > Properties, at the bottom of the Properties window, try add a category by clicking the Categories drop-down list to see the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • Unable to Use Color Categories for Outlook 2013

I've recently installed Office 2013 and found that the categories tag wasn't even on the ribbon (beside the tags where it should and used to be). and whenever i tried customizing the ribbon to add it, it was greyed out in the menu and didn't appear on
the ribbon. Whenever I clicked an appointment, the categories tab wasn't there either. Even the normal tags (Private, High Importance, Low Importance) don't work - they're clickable but they don't work. In the same way, whenever an appointment window opens,
yet again, the categories tab isn't there.

The categories you assign won't sync to the server and be visible on other computers, but you can use either keyboard shortcuts to assign categories or a small macro to bring up the category dialog and assign them for messages on this computer.
This works on selected mail - add a button for it to the ribbon -
    Public Sub CategorizeIMAP()
    Dim objItem As Outlook.MailItem
    Set objItem = Application.ActiveExplorer.Selection.Item(1)
    objItem.ShowCategoriesDialog
    Set objItem = Nothing
    End Sub
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-categories-flags-and-imap-accounts/ has more information and a macro that works for open or selected items.

  • Can I change the colors for my calendars on the iPhone?

Does anyone know how to edit or change the color of the calendars on the iPhone. I have an iPhone 3G 16gb model. I have 2 calendars from my work exchange server, plus 4 calendars I have subscribed to. After the update all the colors are different, and I would like to know how to change them or to pick a color to belong to a particular calendar. Anyone who knows please post here or email me directly.
    Joseph DeLuca

The colors are set by the phone in the order they are added. At this time you cannot really "pick" their color, but removing them and adding them in a different order will set their color differently. Hopefully Apple will let us color-code our calendars in the future like GoogleCalendars... But until then, we'll just have to re-add them in a different order, or live with it
    Sorry.

  • Color coded categorization for calendar events

I rely heavily on my calendar to track schedules for everyone in my family and I am really unhappy that the ability to color code categories for calendar events is missing - it has been available on every other Palm product I've owned. Does anyone know how to request a specific function? Or has anyone heard that this issues might be addressed?
I am seriously considering going back to my Centro for the calendar. The fancy stuff is great, but the bottom line for me is a functional calendar.
    Thanks

That has been suggested to me but it means I would have to track a separate calendar for each family member and pet, meaning more work, not less, and I have found that I get many duplicates when I use more than one google calendar. It's just not convenient and it doesn't give me the option to categorize (medical appts, vet appts, work travel, different school due dates for different people, etc.) by person AND appt. type.
Again, not as simple, quick,  visual or flexible as when the function was in the app.
Thank you for the suggestion, though.

  • Google calendar event color tags not showing up in IPhone iCal - any fixes?

I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) and am trying to sync my google calendar to the built in iCal app. The events sync both ways, but the color tags I assign to each event does not sync. It used to bother me that the only way to color code events in google calendar was to create multiple calendars, but it seems as though google calendar has added the ability to change the color for each event so I'm going back to google calendar. For example, my classes are in blue, exams are in pink, meetings are turquoise, etc.
I synced my google calendar to the iPhone iCal (via settings, turned on calendar tab listed under gmail account that I use for my google calendar), and all the events sync correctly (can add events on google calendar or iPhone and it syncs), but the colors do not sync. When I view my iPhone iCal all the events from my google calendar are the same color, even if they have different color tags when viewed online. Also, when I add an event on the iPhone iCal, the event syncs to the google calendar but there is no option to change the color tag for the event and it shows up as the default grey color when viewed online.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is this something that google and apple have not resolved?
I would prefer not to use a third party app, but I might consider it if there is no other fix. Thanks!

Hello lulu and welcome to the Palm forums.
I don't know of a way to make the color codes from iCal sync with the color codes on the Palm Z22. The Missing Sync for Palm OS has more features than Palm Desktop, but I also don't believe it will sync the category color codes.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 - Fix for Outlook's color categories??

I am an Administrative Assistant and handle several people's calendars in my office. Not everyone uses the same colors for their categories.
Since installing Office 2013, I can no longer:
    1. Change a color category without completely opening an invite. I can now only do this on
MY calendar from the calendar screen, without opening an invite.  I used to be able to left click a meeting from the calendar screens select category and change just one occurrence. Now I get this error message:
"The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook"
    2. Change a color category for a single invite that is part of a series invite. In other words, It's all or nothing. For instance, yellow is our code for a conference call, so if a meeting series is usually a face-to-face meeting, but one day (bad weather,
etc...), we need to make it a dial-in only, I cannot change the color of that one day only.
Any known solution to these issues?

    Hi,
Have you tried recreating the mail profile? Some users have a similar issue were able to fix it by recreating a new Outlook mail profile in Control Panel. To create a new mail profile, go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles and then click Add button
to create a new profile. For detailed information, please refer:

  • Shared 2010 Calendar Color Categories not appearing in Outlook 2007

I have a SBS 2003 (exchange 2007) environment wih a mixed Outlook use between 2007 and 2010. One 2010 Outlook client has shared a calendar to several 2007 users and they swear that when they received the email invite to view this shared 2010 calendar, the
color categories list in their Outlook changed to match the shared calendar without any interaction from the users. A new hire was given the same invite to view this shared calendar, she accepted, the calendar is visible however, the color categories
    are not appearing.
I've tried setting an appointment in the 2010 Outlook shared calendar with all the color categories in the list, then going to the client's 2007 Outlook and updating the color categories in her mailbox but nothing changes.
I've read about 20-30 blogs, tech form and MS tech answers on this subject and I get conflicting solutions. One states that you can't transfer the master color category list, you have to change it on each Outlook client while others state the use of an appointment
and upgrading the categories from the properties in the client's mailbox (which didn't work) or using a third party add-in to manage a "Master Color Category list" (which costs money). I would like a straight answer to my question, which is,
"why can't the Outlook 2007 client see the color categories in the 2010 shared calendar?" and "How to I fix this?".
This questions has been asked in so many different ways that I'm not sure if someone will help me without having to call MS support and pay for it. This has got to have a simple solution that I don't need to pay for it, yes?
    Anyone, please help me.....

Hey mate i had the same issue and was dumb founded till i came up with a solution that worked for me, and possibly someone out there looking for the same solution. Half the info i looked up was all bullshit and took me months to come up with a fix as
    im busy with other priorities.
still busy so ill be quick...and not gonna get too technical just gonna lay it all out in steps
    1. create a mail account in exchange eg.
    [email protected]
    2. log into the account through outlook and share the calendars you set up.
    3. go to the exchange management console on the 'server ' right click the created
[email protected] mailbox > manage full access permissions> and start adding the users who need access. (only thing that worked for me)
    4. close and reopen outlook on the users computer and then you should see the colour co-ordinated catergories that you assigned for scheduling that they can all access and book appointments in a easy colour co-ordinated layout.
if it dosent show up try - *on the users computer* start >run>cmd>gpupdate/force
this will force the update on some computer that didnt show up with the effect. only had this problem with 1 user and this fixed it :)
hopefully this idea helps you! as it did me cause no geek out there never gave me this easy fix option, instead right properties and blah blah blah technical crap that dosent work, wankers!
    thanks :)
P.S this worked between 2010 and 2007 microsoft outlook

  • How to change color of Exchange calendar on iPhone?

I have an Exchange calendar (and a few delegate calendars) on iCal in 10.6. My main calendar is on my iPhone as well, but I can't seem to choose the color, and I can't stand the red that seems to be the default (it's actually not so bad on the iPhone, but I want it the same color as on my Mac and I don't want lots of red all over iCal. I know how to change the calendar color in iCal, just not on iPhone (for an Exchange calendar, that is. Non-Exchange calendars seem to follow whatever colors are set in iCal.)
Thanks for whatever folks can tell me!

This seems to be an ongoing issue as I have the same issue with my itouch. From this thread it seems the newer updates now automatically lock your gmail calendar to whatever color you chose from your PC. Change the color on your PC calendar and the color on your mobile device will match it. Would love to figure out a way to change the color on my itouch to anything I want, but it is now greyed out under the options to change the color.

I am perplexed as I used to have the option to change my gmail calendar color from within my itouch as I do with both my outlook exchange account and my yahoo account. What gives?

  • Color Categories in Outlook calendar

I see that this question has been asked before, but it doesn't appear to have been asked recently, and I'm hoping things have changed.
Is there a way to make the color categories from the Outlook calendar show up on my ipad calendar?  I have all my events color coded in Outlook, and the events sync without difficulty, but the category colors do not appear on the ipad.  Thanks in advance.

The iPad seems to assign colors not randomly, but in a way different than iCal.  There appears to be no direct way of choosing colors for various calendars.  To get the colors to match those on iCal on my iMac, I had to "trick" the iPad.  For example, I my iCal events in blue, holidays in red, and week numbers in black.  The iPad had week numbers in black, but events in purple and holidays in orange.  What I did was disconnect my Exchange account (thereby deleting all events), and then removed and reinstalled the holidays.  The new holiday installation came up red -- perfect.  Next I turned on my Exchange and synced my calendar events, and they came up blue.
Seems like the iPad assigns color in a certain order based on what's in the caledar already.  Turning on certain events in some order seems to be the only way to choose colors, and even then I don't know exactly what the order will be.  I think I got lucky.

  • Assign a color category to a calendar appointment on iphone 4?

How can you take your color coded calendar appointments on Microsoft Outlook and transfer these color coded appointments to the calendar on an iphone 4?  I can't believe there hasn't been anyone else who needed this in the past besides myself.  Any suggestions?  I'm able to change the color appointments on Outlook but these colored appointments will not transfer to my iphone 4.

HAPPENED TO ME also. Cannot get it back via "restore" feature on iTunes.  I never sync calendar with my macbook, so it is not there.  ALL my calendar stuff (except for birthday entries for some strange reason) were WIPED away when I upgraded to iOS 5 .  I wish I had not upgraded the OS.  Anyone have a fix?

I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

  • Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!  SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.

The issue:  Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!
SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.
The cause:  It is now clear what caused this problem.  For years I had several “all-day” events in my Outlook calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).  In May 2012 I decided to make some of them one hour  events so I could add alerts to remind me of the event.  I did this by dragging them in Outlook to the time I wanted and expanding them to the time slot desired and then adding the alarm.
The symptom:  Syncing stopped working for the calendar but continued working for contacts and notes.  I didn’t realize sync was failing until months later when I missed two very important phone calls, so when I noticed it the cause was not obvious.
The failed attempts:  I’m head of a software firm and my calendar sync is a crucial to my business life so I took this on with a vengeance.  From a quick look at events in Outlook and the iPhone I could see that the problem started in May 2012.  Events before May were in both Outlook and the iPhone but events after May were only one or the other.  Unfortunately I had changed several other things at the same time relating to other events so again the cause was not obvious.  MANY calls with AppleCare proved them incompetent so my internal IT guys assisted trying many things.  We tried a huge number of calendar changes and several versions of iTunes, iPhone OS and Office as well as both iPhone 4 and 5, all without success.
The fix:  After 18 months of frustration, MANY  hundreds of $ expense and MANY hours of wasted time I saw a blog that had a calendar sync  problem and it indicated all day events were related.  I changed the display of the Outlook calendar to the list view, added columns so I could see “all day” event check marks as well as times of events,  sorted on the “all day” event column to move them to the top, and for all events that were “all day” events AND had a start and end time, I removed recurrence and then added the annual recurrence back…
After I fixed all events that had BOTH “all day” set and had a start/end time, I tried another sync.  It synced for the first time in 18 months!
Problem occurred May 2012 – fixed Nov 2013

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders

            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)

        Next i
