Color changes in preview
Hello, I'm so tired trying to figure out the reason of a problem in Premiere Pro (my version is 6.0.4). I'm very frustrated just because I've spent too much time trying to solve the problem which is so ridiculous! What I'm doing is just trying to color corect my footage with the help of Color Finesse plugin. The problem is that I can see different results in full screen Color Finesse preview and PP windows preview. Sure you could kick me off this forum saying that it's not Premiere Pro but 3-d party plugin problem but I want to tell you that it's not!
The point is that I can see the right result of the color correction in Premiere Pro when I'm scrolling the preview unless I mouse up to stop the timeline cursor being dragged. Once I just mouse up the image in preview changes! I even set up the similar options of resolution for playback and pause in preview but I still can see the same issue. I also tried to change the sequence options of preview rendering (max bit depth, max rendering quality) but all in vain. I surely get this result when exporting - it seems that PP use in this situation the same rendering engine as what is shown in preview when the cursor stops.
But what really confuses me that in dragging timeline cursor mode I can see the proper colors that I made with Color Finesse! Isn't it an issue?! Haven't anybody noticed anything similar? The image in my case seems to be more red and whites are cut. I thought that there is might be some problems with color spaces but I just don't know what to do in Premiere! I tried to color correct my footage in After Effects with the same Color Finesse settings and then export it - everything is ok with colors! But not in premiere! By the way in both cases of exporting (premiere, after effects) I can see that the result image is in YUV color space with chroma subsampling 4:2:0, 8 bits, progressive though I choose RGB in After Effects when exporting (I can see it in Media Player Classic's properties of the footage).
Please, can anyone help me with this issue or is it really an Adobe Premiere bug?
I thought that there are some problems with color spaces and tried to watch YC waveform. But I guess that my original footage was even worse in it though I can not see any issues or color cutting with my original footage in premiere pro window. Color finesse window show another results. What's happening?...
Thank you, Bob, for answering. And I would also would like to thank you for creating such a convenient instrument for After Effects (cause you see - I seem to can not use it under premiere pro).
I guessed that in dragging mode PPro tried to optimise rendering in different ways clipping it from all the sides etc. But the problem is that all is vice versa: I do like the result in dragging mode and it's the same as in full Color Cinesse instrument and I can see clipping in stop cursor preview mode. Unfortunately there is no any difference on Ppro YCwaveform in this two modes (dragging, stop cursor) so I have to load images from footages (from Composite Video view).
That's why It does not help that the result I see in PPro when not dragging is what will render to my final output (maybe I'm wrong, maybe highlights are not cut but just more reddish...but I can feel more difference in video - the first one looks much better).
Do I correctly understand that dragging mode differs from stopping not just in that 8-bit image is handed instead of 32-bit but also that the first one is RGB but the second one is YUV (there are no YUV modes in Color Finesse full interface in some reason)? So is it possible that clipping happens with 32-bit YUV image? We could test your plugin by feeding it my original video footage (you should test it in PPro) - if you wish - and you could see - why there is difference (I understand that it may take some time so I seem to not wait to the results and find another way of color correcting though I very much like Color Finesse).
So - I'm sorry. In this case the problem seems to be exactly in Color Finesse? But anyway I don't understand why not implement Color Management in PPro such as it's done in After Effects or maybe even better by having several options. I think that sometimes you'd better have several options instead having no ability to do something.
P.S. Bob, I also have a suggestion for your plugin - it's kind of UI improvement. It's a good idea to have the ability to reset each option (each slider) by just double clicking on it's name just as it's done in Lightroom.

Colors changing when preview finishes rendering?
I have been struggling to wrap my head around why Lightroom 1.4 changes the color (mostly vivid red orange -> pale yellowish) once the high resolution preview finishes rendering.
Today I photographed a *very* orange butterfly, and it looks just right in the lores preview, but the second after I select the image, the photo goes from saturated orange to pale yellow/brown... :-(
Once the preview has rendered, it "sticks" and the vivid orange is gone.
My specs:
* RAW photos (Canon .CR2, from a Canon EOS 450D aka Digital Rebel XSi)
* Show with circular *polarizing filter* and Canon macro 100mm
* Windows Vista Home professional
* Lightroom 1.4 (most things left at default)
* No edits or adjustments applied at import or afterwards
The help for "color management" didn't say much, and all this color management stuff is really confusing me!
Any help would be very appreciated.
Robert KarlssonWhat you see is the embedded JPEG from the camera, and then LR's rendered version using either its defaults, or whatever you have set for defaults/presets. You can adjust your defaults or apply a preset on import if you like, or you can get LR 2 and the Beta profiles which have much improved color renditions, and can even simulate some of the in-camera profiles.

Hello,
I've been having a strange color issue with Photoshop CS3 (and Illustrator CS3). I'll make a design or drawing in Photoshop or Illustrator, then save it as a jpg to email it off to my client for previewing using gmail. In the gmail preview, the colors are completely off (for example, a yellow lemon will appear bright turquoise) and when I "view" the jpg in the web browser on mine or any other computer (mac and pc), the colors are sort-of neonized versions of the original colors. However, if I download the file and open it, the colors appear correct. This may be more of a gmail problem, but I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and/or if anyone might have an explanation/solution.
Thanks so much!
LettyAs Curt said, PS is color managed and your screen's color settings are completely out of whack, hence you produce incorrect images. Reset your monitor color and your graphics card color options, the neitehr manually adjust settings using a calibration chart or use devices such as Spyder or Colormunky to calibrate your monitor.

Image Colors Change in Bridge Preview Window
I edited some images first in Camera Raw and then Photoshop (CS5), all working in sRGB color space, and saved them as JPEGs. If I select one of these images in the Bridge content pane, minimize the Bridge window, then maximize the Bridge window, the image appears correctly in the Bridge content pane but the colors are incorrect in the Bridge preview pane. If I resize the view in the content pane, the image colors in the preview pane get corrected within a couple seconds. Likewise, if I click on another image and then back, the image colors are correct in the preview pane, but if I again minimize then maximize the Bridge window, the image colors in the preview pane are incorrect again.
Windows Explorer displays the image colors correctly. ZoomBrowserEX (browser software provided with Canon camera) displays the same image (same file) with incorrect colors. When I upload these JPEGs to my web photohosting site (PictureTrail), the images appear there with incorrect colors. That is where this issue becomes most problematic because with the colors being off, the images are useless for posting to online forums or classifieds.
It seems that the color in the JPEG is being read differently by different software, and is even being read differently under different circumstances within Photoshop (Bridge). Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change? Or some other issue? Thanks.....I have a fair understanding of color profiles and color management. My monitor is a Dell UltraSharp U3011 set to the factory-calibrated sRGB display mode.
What makes me certain that this is not a simple matter of different color management in different applications is that Bridge is displaying the same JPEG file/image in two panes on the screen simultaneously and the colors do not match. Furthermore, the incorrect colors in the preview pane image change to the correct colors if I resize the thumbnails in the content pane, or click on another image and then back; and the colors in the preview pane go back to incorrect if I minimize then maximize the Bridge window. Seems to me that there must be something within that JPEG that is being interpreted differently in different circumstances that results in the "two versions" displayed within the same application (Bridge) on the same screen at the same time, and that other apps are interpreting one way or the other.

Exploring a bit further, I've realized that the same color display issue exists with the original JPEGs from my camera (Canon T1i, shooting in sRGB color space). So it seems the issue did not originate with settings etc. in Photoshop.... but Photoshop (Bridge) IS displaying "two versions" on same screen at same time, and so must be doing something different with the JPEG info in one pane vs. the other. -
Change Aperture previews color space from Adobe98 to sRgb
Hi,
I'd like to change the default color space for the jpg previews that Aperture generates from the masters of my library.
I now have all my jpegs saved as Adobe98 but it's important for me to have them saved as sRGB because when third party apps and devices go to read them, they can't reproduce the right colors if they find the wrong color profile.
Thanks in advance for your help!I don't know how many different ways to say that you cannot change the color space for previews. The files themselves have specific image data that corresponds to a specific color profile that is Adobe 1998 you cannot change the way Aperture generates these. Changing your system has nothing to do with it.
As for work-flow - If you need this to work and it doesn't then it never has so I really don't see how it is changing your work-flow that never existed?
RB
Ps. External devices like projectors work fine as long as your presentation software respects the source profile and has an output device profile - what kind of "device" are you using?

Can i change the preview background color?
Hi
can i change the preview background color?
it's gray , may i change it?
thanks
i use bridge cs6can i change the preview background color?
Yes you can do so in the Bridge preferences under general both Ui interface and image backdrop can be changed
In the same preferences Cache you can change the location of the central cache to where ever you will. But you have to realize that if you use an external disk this can cause all kinds of problems regarding speed, performance and permission issues. best to keep it on an internal disk and having an SSD available will be even better because you will benefit from performance and speed very much.
it's gray , may i change it?
As long as you have a legal version and it is able to change then feel free to set it to your own custom wishes... -
Any way to add color signature in Preview?
Please this is important. I need to add a color signature in Preview. The signature creating adds only black and white. I need it to be in blue.
ThanksI discovered how to do this. Having inserted your signature, select it and change the color using the color picker (just to the right of the signature tool).
Good luck! -
AI File Import - Color Changes on Paste
We are having a universal problem when pasting elements from
Illustrator CS3 (Mac OS X) into Flash CS3. If we choose to import
Paths as Vector, the color is changed. For example FF9900 becomes
FF8A00. This is not a CMYK to RGB issue. It happens with all
circumstances. We have used the Bridge CS3 to sync colors to NA
Web, and have made new documents from the Web template and still
the color changes. The color change isn't always consistent. If the
color is defined as a Spot it changes differently (FF9900 becomes
FF9B00).
Our current workaround is to export as SWF from Illustrator,
which preserves the colors. Any ideas on what we're doing wrong, or
if this is a limitation/bug?Compressor: DVCPROHD 720p60
When I prep for DVD I'll use 8-bit uncompressed, but I'm just trying to get a quick proof out for preview via FTP.
"Recompress all Frames" is not checked.
Interesting thing is the colors appear to be preserved when I bring it into Compressor - they are only off in Quicktime.
Doing a compression right now, so we'll see if they are preserved in the final clip for web... -
Why does Type color change when published?
I am designing a site that has horizontal main menu and underneath that is a 3 tab panel shown below.
Each tab brings up a new panel. The tab in the center is in the "Active state" and the others are in the "Normal state". The Rollover state & the Mouse down states have a soft yellow background. The color "key" for the user for an active button is both the background of royal blue and the type color of bright yellow. The screen shot above was taken in the "Design" screen of Muse.
When I switch to the "Preview" screen, the screen shot below shows the color change:
I have repeatedly gone back to change both the Font Type and the font color in the "active" state, but there must be something I'm missing that throws me for a loop.
I've been messing with this for a week or so and just can't get it to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
KenZak,

Color change when transferring image from Photoshop to After Effects
Hi everyone,
I am trying to import a logo from photoshop CS6 to After Effects CS6, however the black color within the image changes to a dark grey when it gets into AE. I noticed on the color picker in PS that it changes to the same grey color that is used as the replacement web safe color. Therefore I'm assuming AE is just converting everything into web safe colors.
Is there something I need to change in AE to allow me to import the image and keep all the original non web safe photoshop colors?
Sorry if this is a very basic question thats been answered before, I couldn't seem to find the answer within these forums.
Many thanks in advance,
SpencerThis has nothing to do with web safe. You are making a mess of color management/ color profiles. You have soemthing enabled in PS and since AE by default doesn't use any color managemnt and just assumes plain sRGB, the colors change. There's no easy explanations here, but you have soem reading up to do about color management in general and also specifically how Photoshop corrects for monitor profiles and how to use the Proof Preview to compensate for that or how to establish a workflwo that mimicsa AE's "unmanaged" colorspace.

Color change in RAW file from CR2 to DNG
I recently got a new Canon camera, the 60D and when converting from the CR2 file format to the DNG format using the latest 7.2 version of DNG Converter I notice a color change between the original image (CR2 file) to the new DNG file. Once I open it into Camera RAW (version 4.6 with CS3) the color issues go away and if I save it as a JPEG the color issue is no longer a problem but if I were to resave the DNG file to another DNG file it reverts back to the color changed view in MacOS. Is this something that I need to be concerned with for future use of the RAW files or is it a display issue in MacOS and iPhoto. The DNG file also shows the color change in iPhoto. Below are the two screen caps.
RAW CR2 file straight from the camera
Converted RAW CR2 to DNG using DNG converter
This issue only appears to occur in preview mode or in iPhoto.
Thanks,
NathanTry changing the CAMERA’S color-profile settings from sRGB to Adobe RGB or from Adobe RGB to sRGB, switch to the opposite one, and see if the previews are any closer for new CR2 you convert to DNGs. The theory is that the preview is in terms of the camera Color Profile setting (sRGB vs Adobe RGB) and when the image is converted to DNG that profile is lost for iOS to see, and it is defaulting to the wrong profile.
In the end , what matters is how Camera Raw converts the file.
Also DNGC 7.3 is the latest version: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ -
Color change after merging to HDR Pro, going back into Lightroom
I recently updated Lightroom and now when I "merge to HDR Pro in PS" the photo then comes back into lightroom with highly elevated contrast. I have set the color options to ProPhotoRGB in Lightroom and Photoshop. and the image looks fine when going from LR to PS, and it looks fine in "preview" after saving the image as a TIFF. But once that TIFF gets imported back into LR it has all those weird color changes. I'm not sure what to do, and I never had this problem until I recently updated photoshop and lightroom. Any help you would be appreciated. thanks!
The image will look different in PS than in LR. PS uses the embedded preview and LR uses the actual 32 bit image data. You need to apply the LR Develop module Basic panel Tone settings to the 32 bit HDR TIFF.

The color changes when I click my photos or try to upload them on Dropbox etc
The preview is fine, with the filters on (the ones that I chose while capturing with iPhone's camera) but when I click on a photo, the filters disappear and on some other photos there are not even filters yet still the color changes, like autofixed or something. I cannot delete my photos as I cannot backup on Dropbox etc because of the color change.
You need to sync your apps. Go to the app stab and select sync apps, then selct all of the apps you want on your ipod.
You cannot delete the apps or itunes store. They are likely on another page, in a folder in you have restrictions set. Check all of these.
If all else fails, then reset the homescreen layout.
All of this is covered in the manual. -
Bug when importing Ppt slides with animation: color changes to foam green
Hi everyone,
I am using Captivate 7 and I am experiencing what seems like a bug when I try to import Powerpoint slides that have animation effects and then publish the video as HTML5.
I am using Ppt 2007 and importing the slides as .pptx files using the Import> Ppt slides command in Captivate.
An example of Ppt slide that I need to import is this: in the slide, there are two groups, created by grouping together several objects (lines, shapes etc). One group has a fade effect applied on it, while the other group has a diagonal down right movement applied to it.
When I import the slide in Captivate, the following happens:
If I do not select the High fidelity check box, then the Ppt slide is imported as static, and no effect is shown in the HTML5 video, although the effect is shown in the Captivate preview.
If I select the High fidelity check box, then the Ppt slide is imported with the effect, and with the original Ppt colors, but as soon as I press F3 to play the slide, or F4 to play the whole project, or I publish the video in HTML5 output, all the original colors change to foam green for the fill in and black for the shape outlines. Furthermore, the text boxes are displayed with their box frame displayed:
ORIGINAL PPT IMAGE:
RESULT AFTER CAPTIVATE IMPORT:
I have read in the forum several posts on this issue, eg colors being changed to foam green even with static Ppt slides, and I tried to apply the suggestions, but none seems to work.
Any help will be appreciated.Hi there
As Hyperlinks don't survive the import process, perhaps try removing the links and just applying the desired color in PPT before importing into Captivate?
Cheers... Rick

I am new to adobe flash cs3 . whenever i use pencil tool after completing the fig. the color changes to green .. even though the box indicates black color ..
See if you have outline mode selected for that layer, or if you have it set for the file.
For the layer look at the last icon on the layer, the small square icon. If it appears as a solid it is not in outline mode, if it appears as an outline of a square, click it to change it to be solid.
For the file level, in the main toolbar choose View -> Preview Mode -> and make sure Outlines is not selected.
