Color discrepency between 2 identitical workstations

I have an InDesign file that I have exported to PDF.  When I go to print on the central LAN printer, a particular blue color does not print out the same as shown on screen.  My colleague sitting in the workstation adjacent from me printed the same exact PDF file from the same exact printer and it came out just fine!
I'm trying to pin-point the problem, so far it doesn't look like it has anything to do with the InDesign file or the export process.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
On a side note, why is it that InDesign does not work with color the same way that Photoshop and Illustrator?  I am referring to being able to define a document color mode, whether RGB or CMYK?
Windows XP
Adobe CS2
Acrobat 7.0
HP Color Laser Jet 3000n

Sounds as though the difference is in the print settings in Acrobat, possibly Color Management as well.

  • Color discrepancy between Lightroom and Camera Raw

I'm new to LR and came across a color issue when viewing the photos in LR.
When view the RAW in LR, I see a color discrepancy compare with ACR. The color in LR is more like the JPEG view in Windows Photo Viewer (an non color-managed application). I suspect it's a color space config but can't find any in LR as in PS.
When I changed my monitor's ICC profile to "SRGB IEC61966-2.1", all the applications, LR, ACR, WPV, look the same then. It's said that profile just for troubleshooting and should change back to monitor's profile. Can someone help to explain what's happen and what should I do to get consistent color? Thanks a lot!

It sounds like the monitor profile from the monitor manufacturer is not compatible with LR.  This is a common problem, and you have confirmed it by temporarily switching to sRGB.
If the only profiles you have available are sRGB (which is consistent but may be wrong) and the monitor profile (which doesn’t work) then for more accurate color you’ll need to buy a hardware calibrator.
I use the i1DisplayPro.  Others might use a Spyder or a ColorMunki, although the i1DisplayPro has some more detailed options for creating profiles (Matrix vs LUT or ICCv2 vs ICCv4) that can be necessary to make LR happy, or at least my preference is to have a more powerful program in case I do need to tweak things.  I haven’t ever used a ColorMunki or Spyder so perhaps they work fine, too.  I think the color-measuring hardware with the i1 is better, though.  I guess you get what you pay for.

  • Color Discrepency between Develop image and Print Preview

Is there any way to alter the color image in the Develop module so that it matches the color of the image in the print preview screen? The colors in the final printed image match those of the ones displayed in the print preview screen and are nothing like the colors I am adjusting in the Develop module. Thanks for the input.

The web preview on windows machines should not match anything indeed. Internet explorer is not color managed at all (shame on you MS). If the web preview matches your print, but the develop screen doesn't it means that you have miscalibrated your screen. Your screen is probably very close to sRGB as many are and you could probably get away with just using sRGB as the screen profile (not recommended for real color management BTW). Anyways, we have seen gobs and gobs of windows color management issues come by here that turned out to be corrupt monitor profiles. As a test, try clearing the profile that you have selected in the monitor's properties dialog (and thereby selecting the default sRGB) and restarting LR. If you still see a difference between the different modules, the monitor profile was corrupt and you should recalibrate.

  • Color discrepancy between FCP and Photoshop

I'm having trouble with a discrepancy b/w FCP text and Photoshop text. We chose a color of 162-56-25 (reddish orange) for FCP text for a project I'm editing. When we created graphics in photoshop and After Effects with those same values, and brought them into final cut, the color ended up being much lighter. Anyone know why? We've got multiple people working on the project, and on the the graphics. I'd like to standardize the color value, instead of having everyone trying to match. Tks!

Sure. But if I'm looking at BOTH the FCP generated text and the Photoshop and AE graphics in final cut, and on the same monitor, shouldn't they look the same? I don't mind if I'm not seeing them with complete accuracy in FCP, i.e. I don't mind if they look slightly different on different monitors, but I want them all to match.
Does that make sense? I guess the key piece of info I left out is that I'm looking at the AE and Photoshop text IN FINAL CUT.

  • Color shift between Library and Develop module

    Hi,
I recently noticed a color shift between in the image when going from the library to the develop module. Yes, I know this is mentioned in the FAQ, but I did not find the solutions given there to be satisfactory.
Let me explain what happens: I have taken Photos with my Canon EOS 300D, in Jpeg mode with Color Space in the Camera set to AdobeRGB. The photos I am talking about were taken with Tungsten light with auto white balance and have a distinct orange color cast. I use Windows XP and view my Photos on a LCD Display calibrated with the Pantone Huey system. The Lightroom Library Module and Photoshop CS2 both display the original image almost identically (there are no changes applied inside Lightroom or Photoshop, I view the original image in both applications). Photoshop is set to use the Adobe RGB Color space as its working Color space, Softproofing is switched off. However, when I switch to the Develop Module, the colors (especially the orange hues) shift very noticably toward pink. I can only assume that the Colorspace conversion or maybe some implicit soft proof used differs between the modules. So, to restate the problem: If I switch back and forth between Library and Develop, without changing anything and in 1:1 view to avoid errors introduced by different zooming methods, the colors shift quite drastically back and forth.
I have to say that this is really quite annoying. The whole point for me to use the develop module is to use it to make adjustments to the colors, and for this to work properly I have to see the same colors in both modules and in Photoshop. There is no point in correcting a pink color cast away in Develop that is not even there in either the library module or Photoshop (and that would then have a stronger orange tint because I tried to counter the pink tint in develop).
So this leads me to the final question: Is it possible to tell Develop to use the exact same color settings as the Library Module? Or is there another way to compensate for the color shift?
I hope I was clear in what happens and what I tried to do. If it helps I can gladly provide a sample photograph that clearly illustrates the point.
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Daniel

Thanks for your comments, Don and Fred. I hope that this issue will be worked on soon.
Fred, I have set the Preview Quality to High, but it doesn't seem to make any differences concerning the color shift. I have investigated this matter further by now and made the following observations:
*The color shift is a lot less noticable on my laptop (the laptop screen is also color profiled). On my laptop the change is more of a subtle shift in contrast than in color. This might be caused by the smaller color gammut of my laptop display though.
*I have uploaded a testimage so that others can check if this shift occurs at their workstations too - after all, it might be a misconfiguration of my color management software, though I doubt that (because Adobe already states that library and develop render different previews). I would be interested if the color shift I describe is noticable at other workstations too. The link to the testimage: http://www.danyx.com/colorshift.jpg (permission to use the image to test the color reproduction is of course granted hereby).
Thanks for your help, I hope Adobe will listen soon,
    Daniel

  • Spot Color mismatches between EPS and PDF files

Recently I created a file in Illustrator CS6 with several Pantone color swatches. I used the CMYK color mode set to the Coated GRACoL 2006 color space. I saved the file as an EPS and we printed our test samples on our large format printer. After reviewing the print I saw the colors were off. The grey color showed up green.I then opened up the exact same EPS file and simply saved it as a PDF. We ran the PDF on the same printer, using the same material and profile and the color was completely different. This time the grey colors came out grey (correctly). We tested this twice and came up witht he same color differences between the EPS files and the PDF files. Why would an Illustrator file produce 2 different colors if saved as a PDF versus an EPS?
Also, I sent these files to another prepress person in our company and he printed them on our proofing printer. The EPS printed slightly differently than the PDF. He then opened the PDF file in Acrobat and saved it out of Acrobat as an EPS. After this, he printed the new EPS file created from Acrobat and it printed the exact same as the PDF file (correctly).
This leads me to believe that the problem is in the way Illustrator saves EPS files. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks for any and all help with this very perplexing issue.

    I will speak from CS3.
The current PDF format if 1.7 exported out of Photoshop supports vector elements as independent objects, but you can't edit them correctly out of Acrobat because Photoshop reads the data as a flat file and drops the vector data. Basically the workflow is not finished being developed. Also, Transparency is broken within the PDF file format at this time. It will support Spots though correctly.
PSD and TIF support Transparency and Spots, but vector objects are rasterized due Acrobat reading the flat version of the file.
When Photoshop wrote its own PDF format and not the corporate PDF flavor that we now have, PDF's would support Transparency correctly.
I would assume that Transparency and vector objects would be addressed in the next release, but that is to be seen.
There is no best practice except don't do it.

  • NVL in view: discrepancy between 10G and 11G

    Hi,
I've discovered some discrepancy between 10G and 11G in a way how view deals with NVL-based column in a where clause.

    SQL> create view view_nvl as select nvl(null_column,0) null_column from test_nvl;
    View created.
    SQL> select * from view_nvl where null_column is not null and null_column = 0;
    NULL_COLUMN
    0
    *11G*
    Connected to:

    View created.
    SQL> select * from view_nvl where null_column is not null and null_column = 0;
    no rows selected
Does anyone know why it behaves differently?
I couldn't find any documentation regarding this.
Or I'm just missing something here.

"discrepancy between the confirmation and deletion of qRFC-LUWs" (Message no. RSQU016)
How to solve it? Thank you.

    Hi Gavin,
    <b>Please use Transaction code, SMQ1.</b>
Drill in to the queue and delete the respective queue.
    Or use transaction <b>LBWQ</b>
to get to the same information. Select your queue and delete it.

  • Discrepancy between reports

    Hi Experts,
What could the cause of the discrepancy between GL report and warehouse report ? we are using continous stock system. Pls adv
    Regards,
    RK

    Hi,
it can be caused by zero amount documents. You can create zero amount which is the item price is not entered in the document. if the item price is not available in the document, then the journal entry of the document is not created. probably, others can answer the other cause.

  • DIscrepancy between Flash Playback Speed and SWF

I'm experiencing a fairly signifigant DIscrepancy between rate of apparant motion in the flash files Im working on, and "speed" of the "finished" SWFs.
Put another way, what appears to be a reasonable speed for a tween in Flash, is a tad too fast when I view the work as a swf preview.
I would rather find a solid method of working with the images Im creating to determine the proper lengths ..and speed of these tweens prior to publishing a preview and then needing to go back and hand alter the length of the tweens I've created.
A "real time" environment would greatly increase the immediacy of creating such " files"
What can you suggest to synchronize these "playback speeds"?
    Thank you.

How are you creating these tweens?  If you are using coded tweens, what are you using for code?

    Hi experts,

    OR
have a look at using transaction LX23 (provided you dont use HUM this should help you determine/ analyse and post any differences between IM and WM).
    thanks,
    A
LX23: Stock Comparison Inventory Management / Warehouse Management
    Description
Using this report you can generate an inventory comparison between the IM System (Inventory Management) and the WM System (Warehouse Management).
On the selection screen, you can limit the area for comparison by entering the plant / storage location, plant / warehouse number or only the warehouse number.
In addition to specifying the area, you can also determine the extent of information to be issued.  Here you have three options:
    1. "With bin inventory"
In addition to generating the corresponding stock figures, you can also have a list of the corresponding WM bin quantities included.
    2. "All data on material"
Even if only one difference occurs in one of the listed combinatations of material / batch / special stock indicator / supplier, all material combinations are listed. This can be very helpful when searching for errors.
    3. "Clear differences"
If you mark this field, the system will generate a batch input session. By starting the batch input session, the differences to be cleared are removed in the IM system.  Negative WM stock figures and stock differences in returns will not be cleared.
If you want to have a batch input file generated for the purpose of clearing the differences, it is important, for consistency reasons, that the materials in the respective warehouse are blocked in order that postings affecting stock figures can be prevented.
CAREFUL: If you generate this session, all the material stocks belonging to the respective warehouse number are blocked completely, that is, for the duration of the program, no postings affecting the stock in the warehouse will be possible!
    Prerequisites
The comparison is also possible for warehosue numbers managed on a decentralized basis.
    Output
You receive a list with various materials. The list contains the following information, for example:
The first line contains the plant, storage location, warehouse number, material number, total stock in inventory management, total stock in the warehouse, and the difference between the stocks.
The following line contains the first combination of batch / special stock indicator / supplier (or sales document and item number for sales order stock) and stock category (Q,R,S, ), the stock figures in Inventory Management, in Warehouse Management, and the difference.
If a batch input session is to be generated, the list contains a note in the log as to whether or not a session has been generated or behind the pushbutton "non-postable stocks", which materials could not be cleared because of negative stock figures or because they belong to returns stock.

  • Color differences between these two files?

Could someone please tell me the color differences between these two files? What are the differences in general of these two files and how do I make a file identical to the blue cancel button?
I am working with signature pads and the BLUE CANCEL image works, but the other GREEN image does not. Both are 8-bit .bmp files... HELP!

#1, obviously, would be to connect a mic that doesn't require phantom power.
And #2 comes with a 6 ft. USB cable, so you may not need a bunch more cables. Maybe just one standard XLR to connect a mic to it.

  • Colors dropping out of a 2 color job between reader version 8 and 10

We're having an issue displaying colors correctly between versions.
We have distiller 8 windows, creating a 2 color pdf.  When I open it on my XP PC running reader version 8, everything looks great
When another user running an XP PC opens the pdf it looks fine, but when you go to print it, the second color drops out of one of the images on the print preview screen.  this person is running Reader version 10.0.1.
When another user opens the pdf the color is dropping out of both the pdf itself and the print preview.  We do not know what version that user is using.

Also, the pdf looks fine on my Mac opened in Preview.
