Color display

I know this problem has been discussed many times. I'm here to seek for help and guide again
The colors on my MacMini(2011) connected to a MOV LCD TV are bad. They are dark and saturated unlike my MacBook. I've tried to calibrate but no improvement. I'm using HDMI cable. Also I tried to connected to a Panasonic TV and the same issue is there. Is there a way to download a ready-made color profile? Is Apple going to solve this old, unsolved issue soon?
I'm frustrated and it's getting worse each time I use other mac devices and see the beautiful colors

I have reset and restored my ipod and it still has not resolved itself. I have the backlight set for 10sec only. I am out of options at this point unless you have some other advise. Thanks for the reply.

  • Messed up color display and resolution because of mini-DVI to video adapter

Once I connected the mini-DVI to video adapter to the tv and got weird colors on my screen for a while but then it worked out, then after a while I disconnected the cable and turned my computer off. After that, everytime I turned my macbook on, the color is fine for two seconds and then it turns into a weird offset color, really bright colors, kinda sketchy and just a few colors, and a weird resolution and display obviously, but then I just connect my Mini-DVI to video adapter and disconnect it again (quickly) and the color returns to normal. How can I make the normal colors stay and not have to connect the mini-DVI to video adapater everytime I want to see the normal color display and resolution??
    please help!

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on Seeing, turn off the White on Black, VoiceOver, and Zoom options, and drag the Contrast slider all the way to the left. If the issue persists, create a new folder on the desktop, drag half of the items from the Library/Preferences/ folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon into it, and narrow down the files until you've isolated the one responsible.

  • Apple 16" Color Display with 15" Aluminium Powerbook?

I have pulled my old Mac 16" Color Display out of the shed, only to discover that my 15" powerbook Al running 10.4.6, once connected via DVI-VGA and VGA-Apple VGA, won't show the necessary 832 x 624 resolution option, so I can't use it.
When I connect my older Pismo powerbook running under 10.3 via VGA-Apple VGA, it does show the necessary resolution!
Is this a a symptom of 10.4, the DVI adaptor or the video card? Can I copy some driver or something from 10.3 to 10.4 to add support for 832 x 624?
    Brendan

I think you are trying to use equipment that is just too far behind your modern PowerBook. The Apple 16 inch display was sold 1991 to 1994.
The computer-end of its cable provides a code at startup that a Mac with a similar connector would use to determine what display is attached, and what resolutions are appropriate. Perhaps the adapters you are using cannot manage to pass that information through in a coherent way.
More modern displays with a VGA (three-row) connector use a DDC side-channel to negotiate their capabilities with the computer system.
On the other hand, perhaps the PowerBook simply cannot do that resolution. If the 16 inch display were a multi-Sync display, there might be another resolution you could use.

  • Ipod w/color display not recognized by Mac

I cannot get my Mac to recognize a new ipod w/color display, which has previously only been formatted to a PC.
I used to have my ipod w/color display linked to my Mac, but, then it was stolen. My friend, who had the same exact ipod, gave me hers, which is the one I am now attempting to use on my Mac. She had it linked to an out-of-date version of itunes on her PC. I am aware this could be the issue.
However, on top of this, the new ipod has some battery issues. I have not been able to get my computer or charger to recognize it; when I plug it in to either it does nothing. It only works when attached to ihome or a car charger. I took the ipod to my local Genius Bar, who was able to get it to come to life when attached to their Mac. Ultimately, they restored it but told me that the battery was corrupted (they said that it was fully charged but the battery was still reading itself as dead, thus not turning on).
Why can I not get my Mac to recognize it? If I have it connected to my Mac, shouldn't it come to life when I plug it in? If I can't get it to come to life, how can I update it? Will a new battery fix any of this???

    Hi SultanAshraf,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your iPod shuffle being recognized by iTunes on your Mac. Try the suggestions in the in the troubleshooting assistant below, they will resolve most issues like the one you described.

  • Problem with my 20GB Ipod Color Display

I bought my Ipod with color display a month ago. After charging it one day, my menu button suddenly wouldn't work. Everything else was working fine (all the other buttons) but the menu wouldn't show up, except I could still hear the clicking sound. For the next three days it wouldn't work, but on the fourth day everything was fine again! I have no idea what was wrong, but I have taken very good care of my Ipod since I got it.
Did anyone have the same problem?
And would Apple allow me to send it back for a repair even if it is working ok now?
Also, should I buy the extra warranty for my Ipod?
Lastly, where is the page on the Apple website where I can email an Apple representative with a question about my Ipod? (or at least the email)
Another thing - my Ipod seems to charge incredibly quickly, it doesn't take 3-4 hours as Apple says, and it seems to drain the battery faster than 14-15 hours too. and I don't look at photos on mine. Is there something wrong with my battery?

    Hey,
As for your last question, the battery will charge to 80% in about an hour, and use about 2-3 hours for the rest.

  • Color Display for PDF Files Creative Cloud in Browser View

I have noticed that there is a great difference in color display between a PDF and .ai/eps files. When viewed in the browser there seems to be no ICC taking affect for PDF files even though options to include the profiles, etc in output were selected. This makes it hard to use as a tool when showing clients proofs via the browser as they will never see proper color. I know color will vary between monitors but the difference is huge for some colors. Like a dark almost Navy Blue appearing like a vibrant pen ink blue. On a Mac when you use the quick spacebar preview the correct color shows for all versions of file type but in the browsers it shows the color incorrectly. Have tried this so far on the Mac in in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Even Google Drive can display all the file types correctly with correct color although the way it shows eps files is a bit off. That I don't mind as I rarely save eps files anymore.
Is there something I am missing or is this a defect in the browser display?
The other possible option would be to flip my thinking and save everything as .ai files with PDF compatibility turned on and then have to tell clients that they should be able to open that ai file in Acrobat. At the moment I save everything as PDF files with Illustrator compatibility turned on.

Can anyone throw light on this. I'm facing same problem.

  • Color display issues in Fireworks

I have been having problems with how colors are displaying in Fireworks CS4.  Some colors appear to be extremely desaturated and was
hed out, yet when exported or viewed in another application, they appear vivid and vibrant.
Similarly, some jpeg files, when opened in Fireworks, appear overly saturated and vibrant as compared to the original.
This is a new issue which seemed to develop spontaneously in the past month or so (it used to work fine).  I have tried to find some
way of adjusting the color display or calibrating the program, but have come up empty handed.  This is becoming a big problem for m
e since I rely heavily on Fireworks for creating website layouts.  A color palate that looks perfect in Fireworks then looks garish
and terrible in the other adobe programs or in my safari browser.
The only changes I have made to my system are to install any mac or adobe updates that come through.
Can you suggest anything which might be causing this problem and how I might resolve it?

  • Macintosh Color Display

I just bought a used Macintosh Color Display from a local thrift store. I have brought it home only to find that the adjustment holes on the back seem to have no effect when a tool is inserted & I attempt to adjust the screen's geometry. For my tools I'm using a $15 Kronus toolkit I bought from our local Radio Shack store. The monitor is currently hooked up to a Mac Performa 405 with Mac OS 7.5.5 & maxed out RAM & VRAM. Through trial & error I eventually figured out that I needed to enable the LC Monitors extension for the Macintosh Color Display to show up as a valid choice in ColorSync's list dialog box that opens when selecting the monitor model. I have also downloaded a manual for it from Apple's Support website too. According to the manual I'll need to take apart the monitor to get at the geometry adjustment controls. I also need to find the Apple Display Utility download in the event I should need to attempt to calibrate it. Is the only feasible way to adjust the monitor's geometry by opening it up?

Update: I have taken off the case of the monitor yet again to perform the adjustments. The problem is simple. I had adjusted it previously but the setting won't stick & now the left & right edges of the image look distorted. The odd thing is they looked fine at the time when I did the adjusting. I also had the fuse tested at Radio Shack & they said it was still good. I have also discovered something quite disturbing while the monitor was open. There is a capacitor inside with a y shaped marking on top of it rated at 2200uF. I also recently read a Wikipedia article which suggests that such capacitors with a y shaped marking on top & rated over 480uF may need to be replaced. It wouldn't surprise me in the least considering the monitor was made in November 1993 according to the sticker on the bottom edge at the back of it. I also had a recent experience with Apple's Tech Support over the phone via their 1-800-SOS-APPL number. I told them I suspected bad capacitor/s may be the cause of my issue too. I was also sent a survey by email shortly afterward. When I called their Tech Support they said the monitor was purchased from Apple in 2003 but I bought in sometime during the first quarter of 2006 from the local MVAC Thrift and More store. Will the repair be covered as a manufacturer's defect too despite the age of the monitor? Should I take the monitor to my local Apple Authorized Service Provider? More importantly will I have to pay for the repair?

  • Mac M2943 color display connects to G3 tower

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the Apple M2943 color display will run on the G3 using a OS9.2? If so what would I need to connect?
    HBMB

If your computer is a beige G3, you can plug it in with a DA-15 cable, which is also referred to as a DB-15 cable. For a blue and white G3, you need an adapter to connect the VGA port on the computer to the DA-15 port on the monitor. If you got some software with the monitor, don't install it on a Mac OS 9 system, as it is not compatible with Mac OS 9.

  • Does Flex support 256 color displays?

    Hi all,
Does Flex / Flash officially support 256-color displays? I
can't get the Image control to display any images at all when the
display is set to 256 colors.
I've tried PNG, GIF, and JPEG images with monochrome, 16
color, 256 color, and 24-bit palletes (in every combination the
formats allow). They *all* work fine if the display is set to
15-bit color or higher, but *none* of them work if the display is
set to 256 colors. I would have thought at the very least that the
Flash player could show a monochrome image on a 256 color display
Does anyone know if this is a limit in the Flex control, or
the underlying Flash controls? Could I solve it by using some Flash
    control directly?
FYI, this the problem exists on both machines that I have
tested so far. Both using Windows 2000, with both IE7 and FF1.5.
    Any ideas? Thanks!
    Paul

OK, so this definately looks like a bug in Flex / Flash when
    running on 256 color displays.
Really simple Flex projects that contain nothing but images
    like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="
    http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
    layout="vertical">
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image2.jpg"
    />
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image3.png"
    />
    </mx:Application>
Don't show anything at all, but if you throw in a few images
via a Text control such as:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="
    http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
    layout="vertical">
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src="
    http://domain/image2.jpg"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src ="
    http://domain/image3.png"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src="
    http://domain/image2.jpg"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Text width="450" height="75"><mx:htmlText>
    <img src="
    http://domain/image3.png"
    />
    </mx:htmlText></mx:Text>
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image2.jpg"
    />
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image3.png"
    />
    </mx:Application>
Then all of the images will appear - all of those embedded
into the Text controls, as well as those embedded into the Image
controls. Note, it seems that there needs to be "significantly"
more Text controls than Image controls for this to work... but I
    haven't really narrowed that down.
Also, when the Text controls are not used, it seems that
popping up Alert boxes cause the images to display correctly until
the dialog box is dismissed, and then the Image controls disappear
    again!
Finally, I've found that I can get the Image control to work
reliably (so far) by itself, if I simply set the height or width to
be at least one pixel less than (not greater than) the real image.
So, for example, my image is 450 pixels wide, by 75 pixels
high. So, of the following four Image controls, only the last one
    works!
    <mx:Image source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    <mx:Image width="450" height="75" source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    <mx:Image width="451" height="75" source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
    <mx:Image width="449" height="75" source="
    http://domain/image1.gif"
    />
Once again, all of these behaviours only occur when the
display is set to a 256 color mode. Everything works as expected on
    15bit+ color modes.
So, I guess I should file a bug report now?
    Paul.

  • Best MAC 10.6 Color Display Profile for use with Adobe Illustrator CS5

    Hi everyone,
Which Color display profile should I choose for my iMAC (10.6) using Illustrator CS5?  I need the colors to appear as accurate as possible when exporting PDF files.
    Thank you!

    Diane,
The only Monitor profile you should ever use is a device-specific one created for your particular monitor.
If you have not calibrated and profiled your monitor, thereby creating a monitor profile in the process, used the canned one provided by the manufacturer of youor monitor.

  • Same colors display differently between Illustrator and Photoshop

    Hi there,
I would love to know why the same colors display differently between my Photoshop and Illustrator apps (CS3). For example, a logo will display much darker or more vividly in Illustrator than in Photoshop, same file, same colour values. My color settings are synchronized from Adobe Bridge to North American Pre Press 2. I've opened the logo file in RGB color mode, in both apps. It would be so helpful if both apps displayed the colours consistently.
Any suggestions on how to do this would be wonderful!
    Thanks!
    Bobbie

    Hello Bobbie,
I am using CS3 too and let me tell you that this Illustrator version is the worst ever. You best bet is to take the "Eye Drop" tool and select the Photoshop element to match the color.
CS4 also have problems when handle placed items. Sadly I can tell you that CS2 is more reliable than CS3 and CS4.
Not even if you use Pantone colors will match, Illustrator will change the colors making it impossible to match. "Adobe Quality"

  • Problems with color display

I'm having a problem with managing color display from Aperture - I have a similar problem with Lightroom so I suspect there is something messed up somewhere that I don't understand.
I've been processing RAW files from Canon 400D. I color adjust in Aperture and then export as JPEG. the resulting files had a red/orange cast when viewed in Preview. Interestingly the same red/orange cast appears when I switch Aperture in full-screen mode! If I import the JPEGs into iPhoto they have have the cast - however the cast disappears (and the color goes back to what I expect) when I go into Edit mode in iPhoto. It looks like JPEGs from Aperture has sRGB profiles assigned. Exporting as TIFF doesn't help.
A similar things happens from Lightroom, ie the colours look right in LR, but exported JPEGs get the same red-orange cast when viewed in Preview whether I assign sRGB or AdobeRGB.
Photoshop and Graphic Convertor appear to display the images correctly.
It seems to me that the FInder, Preview and the full screen mode in Aperture may not be using color profiles accurately?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Update:
    I've checked this:
-Aux (Dock-Connector) of the iPod has no damage, no problems playing music in the car!
-Same Problem now with iPhone. It gets charged and so, but if I want to listen to music it is very quiet, music is playing for half a second or so, after that stopped, than goes on playing for a second or so. Cracking sounds often while music is stopped.
So the Dock is broken, I guess.
Any possibility to restart/resert or so by my own or try to get it fixed by apple?
