Color Finesse for PPro CS5??

CS5 Production Premium comes with a plug in version of Color Finesse, and on my system, I see that it is installed in AE, but I cannot find it in PPro, nor can I find an obvious way to install it to PPro. I don't see any installation options on the CS5 install disks.
Is it no longer available for PPro CS5, or am I missing something??
Thanks

I can only have bad experiences with CF
stayed in time, has power but is the most clumsy out there. 
many tools, but bad enough flow.
And as plug-in is to be opening shot for shot, I do not like.
if not, to correct a photo you like, you hang premiere ...
better colorist II, to be a plugin does not get any better ...

  • Third party garbage matte for ppro cs5?

    Hi there!
I started using ppro cs5 some months ago, coming from fcp, because of the gamma issue in fcp, because of the fact that you can import Red's r3d's directly and because ppro and redcine x communicate nicely. To my amazement there's no decent way of handling a garbage matte, i.e. smoothing it or using edge feather. I'm not about to spend another large sum on after effects--if it communicates directly with ppro like redcine x I will, but I'm afraid it's a question of exporting and importing, which I really dislike--in other words: does anyone know about a third party plugin with a decent garbage matte for ppro cs5?
    Many thanks,
    Hans

The build in gargage is no good as you cannot feather it BUT...
....you can make your own garbage matte in the Titler. Make a filled bezier shape in pure white.
superimpose over you footage and add a blur to make it feather.
Add Track Matte Effect to footage and set this to the matte.
If you want an animated matte drop the garbage matte effect on a white color matte, add the blur and keyframe the points over time.

  • Notebook Solution 1366x768 for PPro CS5

    Hi everyone,
I'm going to buy a new Laptop and I would like to know if the screen solution 1366x768 is to low for PPro CS5. In the requirements there is a minimum of 1280x900 displayed. Does it means that the programm doesn't start or it's not recommended to work with this low screen solution?
I've got a bonus question: can the gt425m with 1024mb be used for the mercury engine? (with the hack)

    >Whats the advantage of two harddisk instead of one?
One hard drive has one read/write head (or set of heads if multi-platter... all physically locked together) so that one (set of) read/write head(s) may only be in one spot on the hard drive at a time
That means that any Windows activity precludes any file activity
You really need at least 2 hard drives... I have 3...
    1 - 320G WD Win7 and all programs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and PPro projects
3 - 1T WD all video files... read and write

  • Install of Color Finesse for CS5 Is A Mystery

    Hello:
I just installed CS5 Master Collection, and I have a left-over serial number for Color Finesse.  After posting questions to Adobe support, searching the contents of my "Contents" disk, and just about everything else, I still don't see the procedure to install the Color Finesse plugin to After Effects.  Has anyone done this?  Where is the install software?  I looked on every one of my CD's (all 4 of them). At least I think Adobe should have provided written instructions or a Read-Me that contained that information, but I have yet to find it.
    Thanks,
    Rich Locus

Color Finesse is automatically installed by the CS5 installer, so you already have it all ready to use.
Within AE, select a layer and go to the Effects menu. You'll find a menu item for Synthetic Aperture, and within that is "SA Color Finesse 3". Choose that to apply it to the selected layer, just as you would any other effect.
The very first time you apply it you'll be asked for that "extra" serial number you have. Be sure to use the serial number labeled as "Color Finesse CS5" as that's the one for Color Finesse 3.
Once you've applied Color Finesse to a layer, you can twirl open the Simplified Interface to view the controls, or click the "Full Interface" button to see the full UI. Within that full UI you'll find a link to the Color Finesse Users Guide in the Help menu.
Hope that gets you up and running.

  • SA Color Finesse v2 and CS5 or CS5.5

Does any one know if SA Color Finesse vers2xx .... will run properly in CS5 or CS5.5?

Color Finesse v2 will not, but CF3 will on CS5, and as of the 3.0.4 update, on CS5.5.

  • Color Finesse for Premiere CS6

Enjoying Color Finesse in AE but would like to use the Premiere version.  I have downloaded the program from the website but it requires a serial number to active in Premiere.  It is my understanding that this serial number comes with my purchase of CS6 however I cannot find that serial.  Am I mistaken?  If not where would I locate the serial?
    Thanks,
    Danny

Thanks for the reply!  I am acutally serialized in AE and had been working in CF within it.  When I mentioned the downloaded program I was refering to the Pi version that allows you to work right within PP instead of taking each clip out to AE and then back in to PP.  I am going to assume that the Pi version does not come with my CS6 purchase.
The video you attached gave mentioned a great idea about importing your entire sequence into AE instead of a clip by clip workflow.  GREAT RESOURCE and thank you for pointing that out to me.
One last question, the reason I started thinking about using CF in PP instead of AE is because to dial in skin tone I always like to place a four point garbage matte on my frame and mask out everything except for a bit of skin.  This allows me to look on the vectorscope and see precisly what the skin tone is within the frame.  As far as I can tell CF does not have this fuction.  The only work around I have found is to exit out of CF into AE then Precomp the clip I am working with put a mask around the skin and then go back into CF from the precomped layer to adjust precisly.  As you can image this can be time consuming and a bit of a pain.  Do you know of a good work around for this?  Once again the video you provided made a subtle suggestion about secondary color and adjust the luma range to put only skin tone within your mids and correct accordingly, A good idea and I will be sure to try that out.  However, if there is a simple way to mask a frame within CF I would be very intersted in knowing how?
    Thanks again.

  • Most relevant test score for PPro CS5 to run on notebook?

Hi, I hope I didn't miss this topic anywhere in the forum. Since I am in the market for a new notebook to occasionally edit 3-5min clips of panasonic HMC 150 AVCHD material (most of the time just office work), I was wondering what the best and still affordable notebook (EUR 1500-1800) would be. Apart for a wide discussion of system requirements and recommendations I couldn't find what would be the most relevant test score to assess how well PPro CS5 is going to work. Some say you need to get a notebook for EUR 3000, some say one for EUR 1200 would still work - I guess it depends on how much you are going to edit and how much time you have. I was curious if there was such a score that serves as a guideline. For example, below you find such test scores for a Sony notebook. What would be the most informative as to whether and how well PPro CS5 will work. Any information is greatly appreciated.
btw: I would appreciate recommendations on these two notebooks

thank you very much for your answer. Do you think the following notebook would be suitable for occasional editing of 3-4min clips (we have got a desktop editing machine with i7, 12gb, nvidia gts250, and 4 7200 barracuda hdds)? so basically it should only be able to work as a backup editing machine in case two clips have to be finished at the same time. since there is only one hdd, I could put an sdd into it as well. and I could upgrade to 16gb ram. the reason, why this particular notebook is interesting for me, is that through a student discount I can get it for EUR 1,700 instead of EUR 2,500 (cheapest price on the market for this setup). I am aware that it won't be as fast as my desktop (which works spledidly with avchd!), but it should be faster than a retired snail overtaking during his afternoon nap ;-)
I would really appreciate your opinion on that one or from anybody else that has particular experiences with this notebook and avchd!

  • Hardware, OS Choices for PPro CS5...

Hi, like everyone....I'm on the continuing quest for free space!
I have a custom box with a 500GB main drive, and a hot swappable 1T drive. Also... 8 Xeon processors and 12 gigs of ram on a supermicro server board & a GTX260 video card. All in a Thermaltake portable case! She runs sweet!!
Never had a problem w/ the box or Vista U! And rarely have a problem w/ PP CS5...although, lately I have had Encore burning problems...which I think is related to my main drive space being down to 3 gigs!
My biggest problem is "keeping" open space on my main drive! I now have about 25gb's in apps and "maybe" 20gigs of files on my main drive (that I can see!)... We're talking over 400GB's of used space that the OS is in control of??!!
    What gives?
I have used utilities and qimmicks to free up "dead" & "temp" & "shadow" files but nothing substantial has happened! Except when the first time I used a utility, it freed up about 50gb's! Then it quickly disappeared within a month!! I have 3.7 gigs of free space on my drive...and it's very frustrating!
I use this computer for both graphics and video editing & creation and store "just files" on my swappable drive...which doesn't have any issue w/ space.
*Should I use another windows OS and be better served? I have several 64bit apps, could that be an issue w/ VistaU? How much "free" disk space is needed on my main drive for rendering/transcoding, and Encore burning?  Is there something I'm overlooking as far as utilities for freeing space?
My box is constantly gurgling and churning while online! Everytime I startup there is a constant whittling away of my drive space!! Someone suggested keeping my box offline, and removing any, and everything not needed for vids and graphics! Seems extreme.
I pride myself on being somewhat computer literate...but this "space issue" is a black science, and very frustrating to me!!
Thanks for any help you can provide! Ron

    >and store "just files" on my swappable drive
You should also consider creating your projects on your larger drive, since there are project temp files that go to the same drive as the project (you may need to TELL PPro to put the project temp files on the same drive, it's been awhile since I started a new project)

  • CS5 Color Finesse Serial Number caution

Adobe supplied me with the wrong serial number for Color Finesse 3 in CS5.
I started a case with Tech Support but after exchanging emails this weekend then an hour and a half phone conversation with 2 reps today, they were unable to assist me. In fact neither representative knew what Color Finesse is.
I contacted Synthetic Aperture via their web forum and they said I'd been given a PC serial number that won't work on a Mac.
At noon today the Adobe tech said they'd call back within 2 hours with a solution, its now been 5 hours and no call. I'm not impressed.
In case anyone else has this problem the PC serial numbers begin with CFLEP and the Mac ones CFLEM. I tried changing the letter prefix and it seemed to work, however while it got me through the Synthetic Aperture registration process, I now have the dreaded pink grid on layers that have CF applied, indicating it is unregistered... Synthetic Aperture says I have to reinstall After Effects again. Oh joy ;/

I'm happy to report that a few moments ago I received an email containing the appropriate serial number. Tested and it works.
I do appreciate all the employees that have helped.
What was particularly frustrating in this case was the phone call to Tech support – a route suggested by an email from Adobe – that was lengthy and pointless. I was repeatedly asked for my serial number and case number. Surely once you have these it should be a simple matter to locate the required information in an online database. When I explained the problem with the Color Finesse serial number they seemed to have no idea what I was referring to.
I was told by the tech support person that they needed time to resolve the issue and he would call me back or contact me with in a few hours. He took my phone number and email address (again... sigh).
Had he told me to wait several days instead of hours I could have accepted that, a commitment was made and not delivered on. That is poor service.
In contrast, Synthetic Aperture, a smaller company with far fewer resources, responded in minutes to each email.
I'm very grateful to Aldolfo, Todd and all the other Adobe employees who support this and other forums. I don't intend to malign them in anyway, they are real assets to Adobe and the user community, providing helpful support with a plethora of issues.
However basic customer service and support doesn't meet the standard.

  • Sa Color Finesse in After Effects Cs6 is locked how to unlock?

I have a cloud subscription and After Effects Cs 6 will not unlock SA Color Finesse 3. How do I unlock?

The Adobe AE installer always installs Color Finesse for you with no extra work on your part. It is then automatically serialized the first time you apply Color Finesse to a layer.
If you've tried using an installer from our website (which does require a serial number), then as Myleium says, the easiest fix is to uninstall AE and then reinstall it.

  • Adobe's Color Finesse vs FCP's Color -mask tracking capability

I just came back from the HD expo in NYC and one of the speakers/presenters there was a colorist.  He showed a commercial that he had colored using FCP's Color Application.  I came home to check out Adobe's Color Finesse for comparison and noticed that it did not have some of the features of FCP's Color, i.e. the ability to create a mask for the purpose of doing secondary color correction and to be able to track that mask to the object being corrected.  Is there a way to do this within Color Finesse or outside of Finesse even.  If not, what would be a Color Correction Application that you could recommend that is as robust or better than FCP's Color.
    Thank You

One of the advantages of Color Finesse being a plug-in inside of After Effects is that you get to combine all of After Effects' features with Color Finesse's color correction capabilities.
You can create whatever masks you want as an AE mask, and track those masks using AE'a built-in motion tracker, or use Mocha. Or you can hand animate the motion.
When creating masks and tracking them, it's easiest to adjust the color correction parameters using Color Finesse's Simplified UI in the Effects Control Window, rather than the CF Full UI, although that is still available, of course. You may need to twirl open the Simplified UI in the ECW to see the controls. And you may want to twirl closed some of the slider groups so that you see only the controls you want to use.

  • Did I need to pay for use Color finesse?

Hello, I want to ask about Color finesse. I have that Effect in my After Effect CS 5.5 but when I want to use it the program ask me about registration. I want to ask if I need to pay after the regisration color finesse or the registration is free with AE CS5,5?
    Thanks for answering

You don't need to pay extra to use Color Finesse in After Effects CS5.5. Color Finesse is installed automatically by the Adobe installer and serializes itself the first time you use it.
When you apply Color Finesse to a layer for the first time it will ask for your name/organization. You need to enter something here and click OK to cause Color Finesse to serialize itself. Color Finesse as included with CS5.5 should never ask for a serial number. Nor do you need to register your copy on-line (although we suggest you do so).
Or is Color Finesse not behaving this way? A screenshot of what you're seeing could help us understand what is going on.

  • What is CS5 Color Finesse??

Hi I have just installed adobe master collection. as part of the package i received 3 serial numbers. I used 2 - one for the master collection and one for adobe acrobat.
the third serial number is for cs5 color finesse. I was not asked to use it - i do not know what color finesse is - i can't find this application??? on my hard drive. I have searched for informat on what it does on the adobe website - nothing i could find- i went on a chat help line with adobe - nothing - so I am hoping someone here can offer some information or direction that will lead me to some answers.
what i did find on my hard disc was these things:
    color finesse 3 plug-in user's guide
    color finesse docs
color finesse plug-in for AE CS5 release noteslicence
    license
    register color finesse
    sa color finesse 3 ae64.plugin
so im thinking color finesse is a plugin but where oh where do i use the serial number ???
    hoping for some clarity
    alaz

You'll need the serial number as "proof of purchase" if you ever want to upgrade your copy of Color Finesse.
Minor (bug fix type) updates are free and available from the Synthetic Aperture website, and require the serial number to install.
Plus, when we bring out a major update, we've always given a discount to those who have the prior version. Your serial number proves that you have that prior version.
We've tried to simplify the initial installation of Color Finesse by eliminating the need to enter the serial number, but don't lose it as you will need it later!
It's also a good idea to do the on-line registration on our website. That way should you ever lose your serial number, there is a record of it with us. Otherwise there is no way for either us or Adobe to recover the serial number.

  • I have CS5. Color Finesse wants a serial code.  Where do I find it?

I have CS5. Color Finesse wants a serial code.  Where do I find it?

We have a Knowledge Base article on the various places the serial number could be, but Szalam gave you the most likely situation: it's on the DVD case.
There may be two Color Finesse serial numbers; use the one starting with "CFLEx30" which is the one for 64-bit CS5.
