Color Importing a 24fps EDL as 23.98 when conforming from DPX Sequences

I'm trying to do a DPX conform in Color and I am having some issues with importing my EDL from FCP. I have 2k 24fps DPX files, from which I created 720p 24fps ProRes quicktimes to do my offline edit. My offline edit is now complete and I'm looking to conform from the DPX files.
I exported my EDL from Final Cut. When importing my EDL in color I make sure that "Project Frame Rate", "EDL Frame Rate", and "Source Frame Rate" are sll set to 24. It links to the correct DPX files, however no matter what I do the project setting is set to 23.98 not 24fps. The sequence looks fine inside Color, however when I send it back to Final Cut there are frames missing. All the clips start at the correct timecode, however some are missing 4-5 frames on the tail end.
I saw on this forum that someone had the same issue about a year ago, and doesnt seem like it has been solved.
Any Ideas?!?!
Thanks.

  • Import Standard Purchase Order not picking data when submitted from backend

    Hi,
As part of my code, I am inserting Purchase order information in the interface tables with process_code = 'PENDING'. Then using fnd_request , i am triggering the Standard Program for importing these Purchase Orders. The standard program is getting triggered and completing normally. But it is not picking any records. I am calling the program as follows:-
-- Setting the org_id so that the import program will run for that particular org_id.
                  fnd_request.set_org_id(r_org_id.org_id);
-- Submit the Import Standard Purchase Orders by calling the standard program for respective org_id
                  l_req_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST(application  => 'PO'
                                ,program      => 'POXPOPDOI'
,description  => 'Import Standard Purchase Orders'

                                ,argument10  => NULL

When I am submitting this same program from front end, for the same set of records using the same set of parameters, the records are getting picked.
    Any suggestions for this?

  • Is there a way to import a CDL / EDL generated from DaVinci Resolve into Premiere/Speedgade to have it show the basic color from Resolve?

Trying to take a basic color pass from Resolve for a client in Resolve and send a CDL / EDL to them with the media. They will load media, open EDL and have the timeline populate showing the basic color applied using either Premiere or Speedgrade. Tried Adobe support (worthless)!  Any help would be great.
    Thank you

    Hello Neil,
Thanks for the response. I understand about the Speedgrade / Premiere thing. What we are trying to do is essentially the reverse. I use DaVinci Resolve, my client is using Premiere to edit. They want me to do essentially a best light pass on the footage without rendering it out. I then would export a CDL / EDL from Resolve and they would load that into Premiere or Speedgrade whichever would then display the simple color grade using the Adobe color tools. The CDL generated from Resolve is a cross platform basic color information inside an EDL. Anyway I can't find a way for Premiere / Speedgrade to read this info yet. Supposedly It will in Final Cut X, although I haven't tried it since I don't have Final Cut X on my computer.

  • Conforming EDL from DPX in Color

    Hi,
I know I can import DPX into color quite easily but my problem is conforming EDL from DPX files.
Anyone was succesfull in doing this?
    Thanks
    Kamil

Yes. Many people are successful doing this, but not usually on the first attempt.
There are many pitfalls. Essentially its a lot like importing an EDL "Use as Cut List", but there are a lot of rules about how the dpx was created, header information (including timecode matches, etc.), and a number of other things. I don't find the Manuals particularly enlightening, but the topic is covered.

  • Conform from edl, replace mov with color graded dpx seq

    Hi all,
I successfully import the edl from FCP to PPro with the correct in and out points for each clip.
The source files of that FCP edit are .mov, but now, I need to replace all the .mov in my bin with color graded .dpx sequence.
I tried both right click > replace footage, and right click > link media to try linking it to .dpx, but I can only link it to a single .dpx file instead of a dpx sequence.
Is is possible to do that on PPro?
    Thanks

  • Re-coloring Imported Objects

    Hi Folks,
We're using INDD CS3 on Windows XP Professional.
I have a project from a customer in which he has given us grayscale TIF images. He started the project in Quark. We're converting it to INDD CS3 for him.
When the images are imported to Quark, when a color is applied the black/gray elements of the page are re-colorized (and the white part stays white).
When the images are imported to INDD, when a color is applied the white and gray elements of the page are re-colorized (and the black part stays black).
These images are page backgrounds with black designs along the edges and white (or light gray) designs in the center. I've tried inverting the image and pulling it into INDD, but obviously I have black center then, which is worse than the colored center.
Is there a way to accomplish in INDD what Quark is doing for the customer? If not, any ideas for a workaround?
    Thx,
    Sandy

Sounds like the frames are filled with color. Select the object with
selection tool (black arrow) and make sure the frame is set to no fill.
Then select the image with the direct select tool (white arrow) and do
    the same.
Deselect everything and then grab the color you want from the swatch
panel and drag it onto the graphic.

  • Color import from web files feature

There is new feature mentioned in CC specs:
NEW Color import from web files. Import color swatches directly from HTML, CSS, or SVG files — for inspiration, or to easily match the color schemes of existing web content.
Where is it placed? I was unable to find something similar in menus/toolbars/palletts.
    Thank you!

In the swatches palette, open a file - then you can select a CSS, HTML, or SVG file in addition to ACO and ASE files.

  • Limitation on tracks? (Color import)

    Hello,
I ran into a strange problem the other day. I received an OMF from an Adrenaline and imported this into Final Cut Pro, via Automatic Duck v 2.01. There were 5 video tracks. It came across just fine, all 5 tracks, with all video clips and graphics intact. However, when I sent this sequence to Color, it created 5 tracks, but there were video clips and graphics on tracks 1 and 2 only. Tracks 3-5 were completely empty!
Another project I created from scratch in FCP with 5 tracks came across no problem. Anybody else ran into this?
    Thanks,
    Norman.

Automatic Duck is probably creating an element in the timeline that Color doesn't recognize and is causing Color to not import anything after that.
I'd open the OMF in FCP first, then I'd go through looking for any placeholders, filters, etc around the area where Color stopped the import.
Be sure to read the latest release notes about what kind of graphics & stills will break Color and clean them out of the timeline before sending them to Color.

  • Trouble importing an XML that uses DPX sequences

We are doing an offline edit using a DPX sequence. We're testing now to ensure that an XML of the sequence when we're done will work. (Our DPX is in HD, and the online house will be taking a 4K DPX version of the same piece - identical except for the resolution - for the online.) However, when we start up a new project and import the XML to test it out, it isn't making the edits to the DPX sequence that we made. Everywhere there is an edit, it just starts the DPX sequence at the beginning again. This is the same exact HD DPX sequence that we used when we made the edits.
    Here is the original project:
    http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/1802/i2ht.jpg
Here is what it looks like when we create an XML from that project and import it into a new project:
    http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/6389/swfw.jpg
The text block you see in the thumbnail for the videos in the sequence is the slate at the top of the DPX sequence, so you can see that it's just starting at the beginning of the DPX sequence every time there's a cut. What should we be doing differently?

My apologies Jim.  My understanding - which was probably incorrect - was that the XML schema that was in use by FCP7, which has since been implemented for use in Smoke, Resolve, Premiere, etc., was developed by Apple.  Thanks for educating me!
XML as currently coded cannot convey sequences created from image-sequence-based media.
What has been an issue for me and a few others, which may be in play here, is relinking to media coming from a third party grading session.  Smoke, Hiero, Resolve, SpeedGrade can all conform DPXs to an EDL or XML using timecode (independent of reel name, clip name, etc) while Premiere as yet does not.  Premiere's relinking struggles if there's any disparity between the source file names and the file names it's relinking to.  It would be great to see some more flexibility there, such as timecode-based relinking coupled with optional fields for partial clip name and partial reel name relinking.
Since the original post refers to a third party vendor doing the finish on the project, simply relinking in Premiere may not be an option.  If the vendor in question is going to be conforming in either Smoke, Flame or Hiero, just sending an EDL over will just about guarantee a successful conform.  I'd contact them and find out what they prefer.
    Cheers!

  • How to import DPX sequence?

I am trying to import a short sequence of DPX files directly into the timeline. How do I multiple select a sequence? I can single click and drag but can't tell Color that what I am importing is a whole sequence. Is this even possible?

You can browse and import DPX sequences directly into Color. But if the sequences are numbered and not named, Color doesn't see them as sequences but as individual files
So files numbered 90000.dpx to 91334.dpx won't work.
Opening.90000.dpx to Opening.91334.dpx will show up as a 'clip' that you can import and drag into the timeline.

  • Color shifts when exporting a picture sequence in both FCP/Compressor

For a project I had to make a movie from still images. I imported the .tiff files and edited them in the right order. Then I added transitions and motion to the images (zoom in or zoom out). When I playback the sequence in Final Cut Pro everything looked perfectly fine. But when I exported to Quicktime... from both Final Cut Pro itself as from Compressor I got strange color shifts. I rendered like 10 times and every time two or three photo's were affected with a purple/blueish haze over them. Finally, the 11 time I tried it rendered as it was supposed to. It felt like playing Russian roulette.
The question that is bugging me: what can have caused this?
I tried both HDV and ProRes as timeline setting. What is the best setting for working with still images? And is .tiff the best format to work with or can I better convert to .png or .jpeg?
I hope someone can tell me what happened that horrible night.

The problem is that you haven't answered Jerry's question. it is very difficult to troubleshoot these sort of questions from a distance if you don't systematically check for the obvious things. Jerry is one of the best resources here and if he suggests a possible solution, it's a good idea to explore that first.

  • Color differences when exporting from Final Cut

I have a big problem when exporting from Final cut to any file format. The colors and contrast looks fine in Final cut and on my external monitor but when exporting to, for example, H.264 I get a file that is "washed out". Colors are bleak and the over all feel is not what I expect. The funny thing is that if I import the exported file into Final cut it looks fine. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me out with this?

QT brightens the image. Dunno why...perhaps so that it ensures that every monitor can see it?
    Here is an example:
But I don't know why that is.

  • Color crashes when starting from "send to Color" from FCP.

Hi. I am a film student and am using Final Cut Studio to edit a short film.
It's been recorded in PAL Anamorphic. I edited it in FCP, and when I select the sequence and send it to Color, Color opens, and crashes while "Importing Final Cut Pro XML".
Color seems to load fine if I open it by myself, but when it imports the sequence from FCP it crashes.
If I try to do it again, it even asks if I want to overwrite the project. I accept and it crashes again.
I can launch Color and open the project file, but it has no video inside.
I don't know why this can be happening. I could use Color before (8min projects), and I could even use it today (30sec project), but the video didn't load completely (3 shots, only the one in the middle showing, the others had a cross over them). I sent a larger file, to see if the problem wasn't with the "starting" and "ending" shots, but it crashed.
I don't have any saved Color project to try. What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Rodrigo

Have you read the release notes for Color and made sure that there are no 'gotchas' in the sequence you are trying to send to Color?
There's a chance that there's something in the timeline that Color doesn't like. Take that out or depending on what it is, 'bake' it in and you will increase your chances of getting the Send To to work.
    Good Luck!

When talking about a specific image posting the image may be useful.
One can use a Layer Mask and add a white Layer underneath.

I have been using Lightroom 5 for 2-3 months now and all worked well, up until today's effort to import a new set of photos. I am working on a Mac with Yosemite 10.10.1.

Go to the bibliothec module, select the folder, right click on the folder and hit synchronize
