Color is off after changing cartridges

I have a HP PSC 1400v All-in-one printer. It came with my lap top. It has always printed picture perfect pictures....until I changed both the inks this time.  Now the color is off.  The color on the picture is horrible and the ink color for printing on paper well.. ex... gold is lavender. What can I do??  I thought if I took out the cartridges it would let me start over. Didn't happen. I hope someone can help me cause I would hate to have to junk this little copier.

Keep after HP because the cartridges are likely defective.  I am in the process of persistent dealings with their tech support because as soon as I changed all three HP ink cartridges in my Photosmart 8450 printer, the colors started printing incorrectly and pictures are all messy.  This has happened to me before when replacing the cartridges, always with HP brand new cartridges.  In the past I have ended up just buying new cartridges and that solved the problem immediately.  This time due to the very high cost of HP ink cartridges I am not going to take the loss myself and will continue with the issue until they replace the cartridges.  They won't make it easy.  Just now I had to print a test page and they want a copy of it.  I had to scan it as a pdf and attach it to an email back to them.  Last night I spent a great deal of time finding the serial numbers, lot numbers and warranty expiration dates on each cartridge.  This meant removing them and spending a good deal of time trying to read the numbers accurately because they are printed so small and so light on each cartridge that they are barely visible.  Pesevere with them and you should get the issue resolved.

  • I have vertical lines when printing even after changing cartridges.

I have vertical lines when printing even after changing cartridges. There are no lines when copying, faxing or scanning, only printing. I have cleaned the glass, scanner and even dusted where the toner cartride slides in.  Any suggestions?

Sorry but I have worked on laser printers for over 20 years and never encountered your issue.  That is of course if you are explaining it correctly.  When you make a copy to be printed or print a reports page from the printer or send a print job to the printer, if in all these cases you get the line, then yes the issue is either the toner cartridge or the fuser.  If you make a copy to be printed and it prints without the line (Put original in adf, press copy button and print should come out), then you have one weird unit since it does not make sense since the print formatter on the unit whether making a copy or printing from the computer or unit itself uses the same hardware.  Now to test if the printed copy has a line then just put a sheet of paper on top of the feed tray and do a self test from the printer.  When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing.  Remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below.  If the defect is present the toner cartridge is the issue and if the image below does not have the defect, then the fuser needs to be replaced.  Best I can do.  Good Luck.

  • Photosmart 7510 aio - Colors are wrong after changing Magenta Cartridge

    Hi,

When I print out a status report the
      - Foto-Color is more brown than black.
      - The Magenta looks ok (Very pink)
      - Cyan is blue / purple looking
      - Yellow is Orange
      - Black is ok black.
I tried running a clean and adjust but non of that works.
I tried taking out all cartrigdes and re-inserting them and that wont work either.
Anybody has an idea of what could be wrong and how I can correct it?
    Thanks

Hello NikDk, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having print quality issues.  I would like to help with that!
First thing I would suggest, would be a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Second, I would recommend utilizing this document on Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Colors off after changing toner cartridges

I just replaced two toner cartridges, M and Y using a third party brand bought from Amazon.  The cartridges received high reviews, but now, when printing, my colors are way off.  The printer prints but does note that I am not using genuine HP toner. Is this a "feature" of HP printers to make you buy their cartridges?  Is it the result of having two (K and C) cartridges that are HP-branded mixed with the others?  Something else? I did print a test page, and it looked just fine.  I am printing something (a logo) which I have printed hundreds of times from the same Mac to the same printer with the same software. I don't see any way to calibrate the printer?

Do a google search for the troubleshooting service manual for your printer.  Then look for instructions for entering the secondary service manual where you will find the option to calbirate the color.  This may help or may not depending on the condtion of the toners you purchased.

  • Laser Jet 100 Color MFP M175nw "Very low" message even after changing cartridge

Hello, Windows 7, 64 bit. Connection: USB. After a "supply very low" message for the black cartridge, I changed it to a completely new one (HP original toner with the hologram), but I still got a "very low" message and the print quality remained faint. Nothing worked: I tried the 3 solutions posted by Shirlzz1 to another user that had exactly the same problem (Alan_Gilmore), i.e. 1) taking out and reseating cartridges, 2) hard reset, and 3) taking cartridges out and hard reset, then reseating cartridges. I also tried a cleaning and a print quality report. All looked fine, but still "very low" message and faint print quality. The only thing that worked was changing the cartridge a second time to a completely different (new) one -- now everything's fine. So I'm guessing the first replacement cartridge I used is defective. However, is there anything else I can try with the apparently defective cartridge? They do cost a pretty penny, especially here in Denmark. Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

    Hi,
    Please check for these settings
    setup menu> system setup>supply settings
Under this you have a option
    Black Cartridge
    very low settings>stop/Prompt/Continue, select continue
    low threshold> on/off
    same for color too
    Hope this helps

  • Hp photosmart 3210 all-in-one - some colors not printing even after changing cartridges.

I recently had an issue while printing a document. the content was off colored and the error message said black was low. Changed the black cartridge and things just got worse from there. Still no black, cleaned the printheads, printed another test page and no longer had magenta or lt magenta. Replaced those as well. the only had yellow, magenta and lt. magenta.  yellow was low as well, so now every cartridge has been changes.Tried to print document again and it printed in magenta and lt magenta. never have seen black again and the self test diagnostic page is printing in purple. What should be black showed up as purple with lines and yellow is a rainbow of mustard, magentas and purples. no other colors show up. WHAT IS GOING ON? have tried several times to align the printer but it always fails. Have cleaned the printheads several time and just get a mish-mash of colors  (no black) and most of the time no writing. When I try to print in black only, I get nothing.
What can I do? It worked just fine prior to ink going out.

Did you get a resolution to your problem?  The same has occured for me - only printing blues/yellows and greens.  Was working fine until I replace the yellow cartridge and then it stopped printing reds.

  • Not able to print in color after changing cartridge

    Hi.
Using a Mac OS X 10.6.8 with an HP Officejet J6480 printer. No problems in the past but just changed both black and white and color cartridges (new- not refurbished) and it's not working. When I look at a preview it's also only in B&W. I've tried deleting the printer in preferences and then adding it back with no success. (when I ran a color test on the printer it worked fine (printed in color).
    Any ideas?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

  • Not printing after changing cartridges

Purchased this printer a year and half ago but just took it out of box to use it about 3 months ago And it's been nothing but trouble since. It won't print anything properly. I have aligned print heads and cleaned the print heads numerous times to no avail. Changed the cartridges also doesn't work. A message keeps popping up on the touch screen but doesn't stay long enough to read it. Something about print heads. Can anyone help please.

The post here has links to a troubleshooting document for the Photosmart 6520.  If the steps there do not resolve the issue please contact HP Support, even if the printer is no longer under warranty.   If the above does not give satisfactory results then please post back here after calling HP.

  • Color profile off after upgrading to Yosemite

My Canon Pro9000 Mark II printed beautifully with Maverick.  The color is all off since upgrading to Yosemite. I did install Canon's latest drivers. It is as color profile is not recognized.  This is true in Aperture and Preview.  Help needed, please.

    Jehreth,
On my Macbook Pro you have to hold the power button down a moment till a little window pops up and asks what you would like to do. Also you can go to:
    (  ) Menu > Shut down ...
to shutdown your Mac. Or are you saying that these options do not work?
    Hope that helps,

  • HP Photosmart 6510 series network printer will not print black after changing cartrage

HP Photosmart 6510 series network printer will not print anything that is black or has black in the picture after changing cartridge, all other colors are working properly after changing. Does not look like any damage to the cartridge or the insert where you plug in the ink. The well where the ink pad and the cartridge meet is damp with black ink. So not sure what is going on

Hello dinger57 and welcome to the HP forums!
I understand since changing the black cartridge the black ink has not been printing. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will definitely do my best to lend a hand
I will suggest that you start with following through this Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages document. If the issue persists after that can you please let me know what country you're in and whether the printer is in or out of warranty? Thanks! Please feel free to private message me the country information.
Hope to hear from you soon!

  • Colors off after calibration

    I have calibrated my monitor.
I have checked my color profile was saved to the correct location:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color
I have checked the default profile was set to this profile in:
    Control Panel>Display>Setings>Advanced>Color Management
Colors were OK just after calibration.
When I powered on my PC the next day, all applications displayed colors OK (MS Office, pdf documents, Windows Picture viewer, etc.) EXCEPT Bridge, ACR, and Photoshop.
When I browse a folder in Bridge the thumbnails colors are OK (after purging the cache for this folder), but when I click a thumbnail the preview colors go off, and the next two adjacent thumbnails colors go off as well. If I open in PS colors are off as well.
    What am I missing?
Thanks for your time & help,
    Al
    System: W XP SP2, CS3 Ext, ColorEdge CE210W, X-Rite DTP94B.

From your description of the two adjacent thumbnails changing colour it sounds like you have 'Convert To High Quality When Previewed' selected in Bridge Preferences>Thumbnails. The change of colour is due to Bridge generating the higher quality colour-managed thumbnails, first the one you selected and then the files immediately before and after, i.e., three thumbnails. These thumbnails are colour managed like Photoshop and so should be more accurate than the embedded ones created by your camera.
If you select 'Quick Thumbnails' Bridge will use the embedded (camera) thumbnails instead. Alternatively, selecting 'High Quality Thumbnails' will cause Bridge to create the thumbnails all at once when the folder is initially opened, and if there are many image files this may take some time - you can watch the HQ thumbnails being generated (the colour changing) as Bridge goes through the folder.
All the other applications you mentioned don't have colour management so the MS Office, some third-party pdf viewers (Adobe Reader however does) Windows Picture Viewer, etc., are actually showing incorrect colours, and Photoshop, Brdge and ACR showing them accurately, assuming you have the colour management settings set correctly.
It's probably an good idea to print some images off and see which thumbnails are more like the printed output.
    Hope this helps, Ian

  • #7590-black ink not getting thru to paper.Changed cartridge/cleaned printhead. Colors ok.

After 2 months of non use, ink not getting thru to paper, sounded as if printhead was working.
There was ink build up at cartridge, cleaned them and printhead. No help.
Changed cartridges. Colors m/y/c came thru but not black.
    Any suggestions.

The ink levels reported are those that would occur if the cartridge were printing as expected.  If the black is clogged it would appear from the ink guage that ink was being expelled even if it were not.  Also, when the color ink is expelled into the service station it will mix and appear black even though it is made of the colors.
As for being a software issue, you can print an internal test page as shown in the troubleshooting document here.  That test page is not dependent on the computer, and the driver or other software is not involved.  The troubleshooting steps in that document may help resolve the issue.  If not I would suggest you Contact HP to discuss your options.

  • IPad no longer connecting to HP Photosmart Plus B210 after changing black tore cartridge

I had my iPad nicely connected to my HP Photosmart Plus B210.  However, after changing the black tore cartridge I am no longer able to print from the iPad.  The printer statur report and the wireless network test both show everything is OK.  Most of the time the iPad recognizes the printer and accepts the print command without any error messages.  However, sometimes it returns the message that the printer is offline even though it found the printer earlier.  Any solutions?  Thanks

I too have a B210 and the IPAD has printed marvelously via WIFI for about a half a year. Now, when the IPAD print radio button appears it still lists the B210 is available as if all is good but the printer doesn't come to life when the print command is issued. Printer sez it is connected to the router, too. I have reset the router and the printer a number of times and the printer sez everything is good. But, I can't print any longer from the IPAD. bummer.

Can't figure out why colors don't totally change when you select type with curser? It looks like it has by looking at it, but when you highlight the area after the old color is still there. It happens with objects to. Driving me NUTZ. Help!

Select the text, and open the Appearance palette (Come on guys, text highlight is irrelevant, it happens to objects too says the OP), and see what's listed there.  For a simple text object, there should only be a line item "Type", followed by "Characters", and when double-clicked the Characters line item expands to tell you the stroke and fill color.  For a basic object, there should be a fill and/or stroke.
What happens sometimes, is that you end up adding extra strokes/fills to objects or text, and the appearance palette is where that will be noted.  Especially when you are dealing with groups, and/or picking up a color with the eyedropper, you may inadvertently be adding a fill or stroke on top of something.  You can drag those unwanted thingies from the Appearance palette into its own little trash can.
