Color Issues in Fireworks CS4

I am trying to use a color called "Wheat" in Fireworks.  The Hex # is E0CCAD  it is almost a tan color with a hint of gray, the RGB is 226-204-173.  Now this is the color I get from a program I use called Color Impact.  When I use this color in Photoshop it comes out properly.  When I use this color in Fireworks, I get a real pink color.  Why is this happening? Do I have something that is corrupt within Fireworks.
I would appreciate any help or direction anyone can give me on this.
Bob

Sounds like a significant color difference, but it could be a color management issue. Photoshop is color managed, whereas Fireworks is not.
Firstly, check the hex codes or RGB values within each application to verify that they're the same and that no distortion has occurred. Then check your RGB Working Space (under Color Settings...) inside Photoshop as well as the document's ICC profile. A typical setting for screen or web design would be sRGB IEC61966-2.1. (A setting such as 'ProPhoto RGB' or 'Adobe RGB (1998)' would account for the difference in appearance between PS and FW.)
A good way to test whether color management is involved is to view the graphic inside Photoshop with color management turned off; this should match the appearance of the same graphic in Fireworks. To do this, choose File > Save for Web. In the preview window, there's a fly-out menu: Instead of "Use Document Color Profile", choose "Uncompensated Color".
Now does the color look pink, as it does in Fireworks? If so, then it's a color management issue.
Assuming your working space/ICC profiles are in order, Photoshop is showing you a more "accurate" representation of the color by accounting for your monitor's color gamut in its onscreen output. The color in Fireworks is the same, it's just not being tweaked specifically for your onscreen viewing.

  • Properties Color Picker in Fireworks CS4 no longer picks up color

I upgraded to OS Lion yesterday and this morning have noticed that the color picker in the Properties pane at the bottom of the screen no longer works. I will only change colour if I select one from the swatch but not from an element on the page. I can only cahnge to another colour by manually entering the Hex code. This is incredibly time-consuming, for all sorts of tasks like changing font colors, color-swap, fill color etc etc.!
Don't know if the OS upgrade has anything to do with it but it's the only thing that changed on my computer since yesterday.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can get around this or if there is aosme other setting I can change to get it to work again?? Thanks!

That sounds awful. I did a quick search for this, and apparently Color Picker problems in FW CS4 on Lion are a "known issue". This page has a couple of official Adobe links related to Creative Suite/Lion compatibility:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2011/07/lion-tamers.html
Also, I found this forum posting. Have you tried using the Color Palette panel instead? Or the Color Mixer?

  • Color issue in AE cs4 please help

hi, i am in after effects, i color correct a clip in color finesse,
and later i export the clip as a quicktime H264 mov file, and i notice that when i play that quicktime mov h264 file in the quicktime player outside of after effects, the contrast looks less, more washed out than it looked in after effects,
in after effects all looked more contrasty and intense, and then the exported file looks weaker, is this a problem of my settings in after effects? of the quicktime player? of the color management settings? (which i leave turned off), of the initial color space and gamma i picked in the raw settings?
    i use AE CS4,
    color management is turned off
the footage im working with is RED Camera footage, R3D, and i use color finesse 2.1 for the color correction,
    OS is windows vista
thank you very much for any advice jav

thank you very much for your answer, i havent tried that, where is that legacy gamma box? where can i find it to disable it?
    thank you again

  • A stability/bugfix update is coming soon for Fireworks CS4!

    Great news! Read here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/fireworks/2010/03/fireworks_cs4_update_coming_so.html
As you know, Fireworks CS4 has some issues remaining, that were not solved by the latest 10.0.3.011 patch. The Fireworks Team and Adobe were listening! So a soon-to-come patch (2-3 months from now, I think) will try to address some of the most serious problems remaining in Fireworks CS4 -- the "crash on quit", and various other serious bugs that exist on the Mac and Win version of Fireworks CS4.
Please, post any important issues that you experience in Fireworks CS4 here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Select "Fireworks" in the drop-down list, and describe the bug the best you can. All info that you will post this way will be directly received by the Fireworks team and investigated!
Your feedback is needed by the Fw team, so here's your chance to be heard, and to see soon a much more stable and better working Fireworks CS4! So please help!

As you know, a soon-to-be-released patch for Fireworks CS4 is announced!
Fireworks team needs a bit more testers for CS4, so if you:
    1) Use  Fireworks CS4 every day, and a lot, (no matter if you are on Windows or a Mac),
    2) Have issues with Fireworks  CS4 -- slow performance, NOT ENOUGH MEMORY bugs, INTERNAL ERRORs, etc.,
    3)  Are willing to spend some time testing a Fireworks CS4 patch that will  address some of these issues, and also log a bug or two on your own,
Then please,  contact Bruce Bowman! (He is Fireworks product manager)
Email Bruce Bowman at: bbowman at adobe dotcom
Bruce is currently looking for people  willing to test a bug fixing/performance improvement patch for Fireworks  CS4!

Thanks to anyone willing to contribute to a more stable, more performant Fireworks CS4!

  • Why does my text look jagged in Fireworks CS4?

I have had it up to here with fireworks CS4. I can't figure out why my text looks like my dog chewed on it. If Fireworks CS4 has the same text engine as Illustrator than why does my Text in Illustrator look crisp but my text in fireworks looks jagged. I tried using anti-lising but that didn't help. I know there's been a lot of text issues with Fireworks CS4 but I thought the bugs were all fixed by now. Check out the attatchments to see what I'm talking about.

I posted a similar discussion a few months ago and while many were very helpful with their suggestions I have all but given up with using text in Fireworks.
It just isn't worth the bother when other applications can do text with no fuss and no messing with sizes and resolutions. I tend to use illustrator or dare I say it, Paintshop Pro which produces text easily and clearly within a text box or over an image
I'm keeping an eye on your discussion to see if there are any new words of wisdom. Here's hoping.
Sorry I can't offer any advice

  • Color display issues in Fireworks

I have been having problems with how colors are displaying in Fireworks CS4.  Some colors appear to be extremely desaturated and was
hed out, yet when exported or viewed in another application, they appear vivid and vibrant.
Similarly, some jpeg files, when opened in Fireworks, appear overly saturated and vibrant as compared to the original.
This is a new issue which seemed to develop spontaneously in the past month or so (it used to work fine).  I have tried to find some
way of adjusting the color display or calibrating the program, but have come up empty handed.  This is becoming a big problem for m
e since I rely heavily on Fireworks for creating website layouts.  A color palate that looks perfect in Fireworks then looks garish
and terrible in the other adobe programs or in my safari browser.
The only changes I have made to my system are to install any mac or adobe updates that come through.
Can you suggest anything which might be causing this problem and how I might resolve it?
Operating System: Mac OS X (v10.6)
    Illustrator CS4

Is your system Gamma setting correct? Did you adjust your view/ monitor profile accordingly?

  • Dual monitor color issue - oversaturated image in CS4

Hi, I wonder if you can help. I found people having similar issues, but never seen an actual answer, so your input would be greatly appreciated.
    My set-up:
MacBook Pro Dual Core intel based 15.4 2.6GHz running OS X 10.5.6 - also my primary display
    HP LP2475- secondary display
    CS4
Both monitors were calibrated using X-rite Eye-one LT (each with a separate profile)
I've tried calibrating each monitor 3 times and still get the proble,
    My problem:
Running in dual monitor mode in bridge or safari/firefox- no problems at all: almost consistent colour between both monitors.
When I open the images in Photoshop CS4, they look fine on my MacBook screen, but when I drag them over to the HP the color is grossly oversaturated - especially in the red. What am I doing wrong? (in fact on the HP monitor, the color looks perfect in bridge but super insanely saturated in CS4)
Does anyone have a clue on how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

You say your running 10.5.6?  Why haven't you updated to 10.5.8?
FWIW, I never had color issues under 10.5.X, however I have since upgrade to 10.6.

  • Fireworks cs4 batch change color in jpegs?

Is it possible to use fireworks cs4 batch command to change the same background color on multiple jpegs?
    Thanks in advance,
    Carl

Hey... solved it! Changed the background color in almost 2,000 jpegs. Heres how:
Photoshop CS4, first define a color in an AXT file:
Open test image, image, adjustments, replace color. use eye dropper to sample the background color, bring hue, saturation, and lightness bars all the way to the right (background color now turnd white), click save (save the definition AXT file, you will need to reference it later).
Now create a new action called "replace color", have test image open (with original background that you want to change), start record and do this to record the action:
Image, adjustments, replace color. Click load and select the AXT file, click load (the background color now turns white with the loaded AXT definition). Click ok. save file. Stop record action.
Now run a batch command and use that action you just recorded: File, automate, batch, select your new action in the play section, select the folder of files to process and the destination... click ok to run the batch.
I changed the "background" color in 2,000 estore product images of various sizes (thumbnail, medium, and large sizes) in about 15 minutes. Wow! I knew there had to be a way.
Hope it helps lots of people, 'cause it sure is a common need.
    Cheers,
    Carl

  • Color Issues between CS3 and CS4

Color Issue - Opened in CS3...looks fine; I then opened in CS4 and what
was grey in CS3 is now brownish in CS4.
Any ideas about what this is or how to fix?

Sorry, actually, there was a thread up a ways and someone was having the
exact same issue. It was my color profile. I just deleted the default
    and used Adobe 1998...
With that said, I am CERTAIN that in not too much longer, I will run
into this again and it will be nice to have this seed (solution) planted
    in my brain..
    Thanks

  • Installation error: Adobe Color JA Extra Settings CS4

I have a multiuser Mac CS4 Design Studio (college department).  All but one computer is installing fine.  This is a PowerMac G5 with 10.5.8.  Clean as a whistle, nothing funny installed, no other problems.
The installer fails when installing Illustrator, specifically when installing the additional-but-required item named "Adobe Color JA Extra Settings CS4".  It simply fails with a helpful "Error 2" message.  I don't know what this item is, but without it, Illustrator won't install.
All other CS4 applications install fine.  I've repaired permissions, tried installing from another Admin user on the same computer, etc.  I've tried installing both from the original CDs and from the downloaded license installer.  Etc etc.
The Adobe installation log appears useless.  I run the "Adobe Support Advisor" which tells me:
      Issue no: id18470
Unable to update an installed font when installing the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product
    and points me to:
      http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403901.html
Which, if related at all, doesn't provide any info since it doesn't tell me what font is related (although my gut feeling is this isn't a font issue at all, but it's impossible to know).  Anyway I try using the Support Advisor to upload the logs to Adobe but keep getting "The storage server is unavailable! Please try again later."  That's helpful.  Anyway, to rule out any font permission issues I force-propagated proper permissions in /Library/Fonts and ~/Library/Fonts.  No change.
I've been on hold with Adobe Support for 45 minutes and can't stay on much longer, so I figure I'll post here to see if anyone has any suggestions.  I wish they'd at least have better music.
Any idea what this file/item is, and if there's either another way to install it (ie copy from another Mac) or manually deselect it from the installer?
The last chunk of lines from the installation log follows; no idea where the proper cutoff is.
    Thanks!

  • Color issues

Hi, I recently installed Creative Suite Web Premium, and have
weird color issues. If I open a jpeg in fireworks it looks correct,
but if I open it PhotoShop CS3 or Windows Photo Gallery the colors
look REALLY bright, not even close.
Any Ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks

In Photoshop, try turning off View > Proof Colors.
If that doesn't work, try Edit > Assign Profile and choose
    "Don't Color Manage This Document."
If that doesn't work, try Edit > Color Settings and set
    the "Settings" to "Monitor RGB."

  • Color profiles / management in CS4

I am a freelance designer and been working with PS since its version 5. Most of my client don't have color management requirements so I never had to deal with this issue. Since CS4 install a few weeks ago, I've been having problems getting a new CMYK document to show white background. I have set my color settings to NORTH AMERICA PREPRESS 2 which seems to be the most common setting. Any CMYK document fails to show white color. It shows a yellowish color and I am unable to even overlay it with white. Sorry if I sound amateur but I never had to set anything is previous CS's. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you look at the setting for MONITOR COLOR, it actually turns off color management. In Prepress 2, have you expanded out the MORE OPTIONS button and taken a look at your conversion options? Also, you indicate you have Illustrator, you may want to note the settings there to make sure you're setting Photoshop up the same.
BTW, if you have Illustrator I understand there is a setting in Bridge to sync color management for the Creative Suite applications. I only have PS CS4 so I can't verify this. A quick check of PS Help might help, just type in Color Management, then take a look at color intent, color settings, or keeping colors consistent.

  • Bug in fireworks CS4 when exporting 24/32bit png with transparent alpha?

    Hi there,
I recently upgraded to CS4 from CS3 and am quite disappointed to find that the png export facility for 24 or 32 bit png's is next to useless on my installation of Fireworks (Vista). I have a colleage who has reported the same behanviour on his mac.
Please see this native fireworks CS4 png file and attempt to export it as 24 or 34 bit png, ensuring the canvas is transparent (it shuold be already)...
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug.png
Viewing in preview mode in CS3 would show the png with its alpha channel indicated by the chequered transparent pattern. Exporting it as such would produce the desired result > a png with a nice blended alpha channel.
Viewing in preview mode in CS4 shows a horrible render of the image on a white background. Exporting the image produces the same result. Please see this link for confirmation:
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug-export.png
Please also see this simpler image, this time using a simple ellipse shape:
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug-export-simpleshape.png
You'll notice that it is not transparent, and the ellipse has not been anti-aliased.
Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour?
Exporting png's as such is something that I do daily at work, and is a basic requirement of an image editting application targetted at web design.
Am I doing something wrong? I've been using Fireworks since 2003 so I'm inclined to think that I'm not.

That's a bit, um, oh never mind. Would've been a rubbish joke anyway.
    Aww...pooh. I love "rubbish" jokes!
If fireworks is unable to export a transparent png at 24bit, then why have the option?
(granted the option is acutally implied, not given)
Also, why the horrible rendering on preview and export?
Transparency for 24-bit isn't an option and isn't implied. Create a FW document with a transparent canvas. Go to File>Image Preview. If you select PNG8 as your export option, then you have drop-downs for No Transparency, Index Transparency, or Alpha Transparency. PNG32 shows the checkerboard where the document is transparent. If you select PNG24, you do not have the transparency options. Transparent areas in your document are set to white, just as they are if you select the JPEG format. Try it.
I don't know why your rendering is horrible. I'd have to see your image.
And also, why all this confusion related to Photoshop, seems Adobe really aren't helping the issue:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/152434
Possibly Adobe thought it was less confusing, as they didn't have to go into the math. However, you do see Linda Rathgeber's answer, that the Photoshop convention is...well...misleading? (I'd call it wrong, but that's just me. ) It's just one other issue to bring into alignment as Adobe works to merge the Macromedia offerings into their line.

  • Fireworks CS4 slideshow

Is there an easy way to get a Fireworks CS4 generated slideshow into an existing web site (my home page). I've got a div all ready for the slideshow I built.
Did a search and couldn't come up with any answers. Lots of other folks asking the same thing ...... but zip on responses.
    Huh?

HI, I have the same "issue" about embedding the slideshow into existing webpage. I've tried it with Lightroom and some other stand alone versions on the internet but have failed to find actual solution. I use DW4 to build my site (I'm a photographer not a web master) and after total frustration trying to get the lightroom gallery embedded gave up for a few months and now have downloaded a trial verision of FW4 just for the slideshow as I heard it was real easy..it's easy to create a slideshow in it and upload that to another page on it's own but clearly it doesn't make it any simpler to embed it as the Lightroom galleries version. It is amazing to me that Adobe hasn't addressed this. Why do they not make this a simple click and insert solution? Surely, or perhpas not, but it seems to me that people use DW, FW, Photoshop etc, etc...to create websites, photo galleries, just for this purpose but it is like it just is left out on purpose. I'm willing to even pay someone to just give me the html language for this. I went to my local Community college and yes I can become a certified DW professional...but frankly I don't want or need to know every detail of how to use DW or FW and don't plan on becoming a website builder..just want to embed a gallery into my web page...
So, has anyone out there have any suggestions? Tutorials? Books? Web Guru's? Adobe? How about posting a real simple and clear tutorial..someone at Adobe must know how to do this don't you? I just don't get it. I've purchased a few thousand dollars worth of Adobe stuff and I do love photoshop and DW but it seems to me that this embedding deal, which I see many people on the web that have the same issue, would be a simple few clicks and make us all happy..
    thanks for listening...

  • Fireworks CS4 PC version won't recognize my .ase file.

I can download my kuler swatches as an .ase file without problems. But when I go to Fireworks, I can't load the file into the Swatches palette. I tried "Add swatches" and "Replace swatches" in Fireworks, but Fireworks will only allow me to look for an .act or .gif file and doesn't see my .ase file.
Fireworks CS4 doesn't have a "Load swatches" option, nor does it have a color library function like Illustrator. I'm stuck! How do I get my .ase swatches into Fireworks CS4, PC version?

    Thank you!
I'm figuring this out. Does your saved theme in the online Kuler need to be marked as Public? Can it be saved as Private and still be found when I work with Kuler in Fireworks and Illustrator?
