Color issues that I can't fix

For the past few days, Photoshop CS6 doesn't let me use colors I've selected from the swatches or sliders. It says that I have the color selected, but when I try to draw with it, my marks are in another color. I can only change my colors from the color libraries and not from the swatches, sliders, or eyedropper tool.  I can't find a fix for this anywhere.. can anyone help me out? Thank you!

What happens if you try a different brush (e.g., a soft-round brush)?  It seems to me the preset you've chosen invokes "Dual Brush" functionality.
Also, you could try Resetting the Brush Tool...  Right click the brush icon and choose Reset Tool.

In newsstand I have issues that I can't open. It shows that it's on iCloud but it won't open. Or download or do ****. So I have paid for this and it won't work. How do I fix it.

    Hello there, lisafromchetwynd.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great information for resolving the issue you're describing:
    iOS: Using Newsstand
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4943
    Newsstand tips
Each publication is a standalone app. For additional assistance or information for that publication, refer to the app's built-in help or App Store listing.
Newsstand-compatible apps automatically move to Newsstand. Tap and hold apps to arrange them in Newsstand. Note: You cannot drag other publications into Newsstand.
If a subscription app or publication doesn't appear in Newsstand, verify that the app supports the Newsstand feature.
Newsstand updates subscriptions only when using a Wi-Fi connection. If you aren't seeing the latest issue:
Verify that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Check Settings > iTunes & App Store to verify that Automatic Downloads is enabled for that publication.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • HT1657 hi ! just rented a movie through an apple tv and it stopped, i cant get it back and when go to check rentals its like in process and nothing is hapening still in process, why is that? can u fix it?

hi ! just rented a movie through an apple tv and it stopped, i cant get it back and when go to check rentals its like in process and nothing is hapening still in process, why is that? can u fix it?

Mr. Churchill - First, to answer your last questions:
Yes, the movie is fully downloaded, all 3.69 GBs.
No the Apple TV has 127.5 GBs of its 144.63 GBs free.
Second, I tried turning the Time Capsule WiFi rounter and Apple TV off (for at least two or three minutes, not the usual 10 seconds recommended) and I still could not move the movie.
Third, I severed the link and set it up again re-synced all 5,103 items back and still when I move the movies to the Apple TV box and Apply it, after 35 seconds it stops the sync and moves it back the the Rented Movies box.
Though I have set my Apple TV to sync with my MacBook Pro I cannot find a way to connect it to other than shared library, but not the "not shared library" (Is this what the Rented Movies are?). Is what Fletch is talking about int the "Rental Movies not showing up on Apple TV" discussion my problem and a solution?

there are three possibilities: you have not upgraded to version 2.0 or in Summary on the ATV device in iTunes, you should look whether you have it set up to only sync or otherwise disables movie syncing, or you have not paired your Mac to the ATV (on your tv, settings/computers/connect to itunes library - not shared library)

    Or is it something else?

  • Has anyone else had an unsaved photo disappear from a text message?Gone. No thumbnail... it doesn't exist anymore? How do you fix that? Can you fix that?

The photo is gone in the text message. Gone. No thumbnail...it doesn't exist anymore. How do you fix that? Can you fix that? Can you ever get the photo to show up again? I stumpted the guy on the phone with this problem. I need some help from anyone who has experienced this problem and might have a solution! Thanks in advance!

This happened to me also, a few days ago... I went to look at pics that were sent from just one person, all the other photos that people texted are there during same time period.  It is only this one contacts several photos that disappeared...   There is an arrow when I click on it it goes to a blank page?!?   Have you received any feedback or answers??  Did your photos  that are missing come from only one person or multiple?  If you have any information that might help let me know!!!  I really want them back!!  Thanks much!

My iphone 4s power button is stuck. is there any chance that it can be fix?

This will be covered for free under Apple Warranty. Until you do this, a software workaround is a Virtual Lock Button in Assistive Touch on iPhone. Tap Settings App>General>Accessibility>Assitive Touch>ON>Tap new Virtual White Screen Button>tap Device> tap Lock Screen. If you hold down on the Lock Screen Icon it will give you the "slide to power off". To turn iPhone ON, connect to Power Source with USB Cable, via Charger or Computer USB Port.

  • A Freeze-up that I can't fix.

Ok, so I have been having a problem that appears similar to the lookupd problem that many people have discussed here and on other Mac forums. I have a brand new Dual 2.3 G5, and it has worked fine for a week and a half, performing with wonderful speed all the usual graphic design and video work that my G4 laptop has been doing up till now.
Then yesterday, the system froze when I tried to bring maximize iTunes from the dock. I was running what usually constitutes "too many programs" at the same time, and so I figured I had found the performance peak. Manual power shutdown was my only option.
Since then, the problem has persisted, sometimes waiting for a while before locking up, sometimes locking up in the middle of the startup screens. It doesn't correspond to any program in particular. Sometimes there are some graphical 'artifacts' that appear on the screen when the lockup occurs, but not always. The cursor still works, and cycles between the pointer arrow and the spinning beach ball of Death, depending on how many "frustration clicks" I give it. If I press the 'eject' button on the keyboard, the tray opens after about 10-20 secs, or sometimes immediately. If the dock or any maximizing function is occuring at the crash, it freezes in place. I also hear a quiet but high-pitched whine from inside the tower as the moment of the crash, which continues uninterrupted until the machine goes to sleep. Did I mention that it can still go to sleep and wake up, based on the timing set in Energy Saver? ***? What kind of crazy crash can do all that, I ask!
I removed the two 512 cards of 3rd-party RAM. I ran the Hardware test - everything checked out OK. I reinstalled OS 10.4 onto one of the partitions of my second internal hardrive, and booted from that. At first, it worked ok, then I walked away for a few mintues, and it had frozen again upon my return. I restalled the OS on the original factory HD, first with the "Archive and Update Accounts" option, which kept all my software and User accounts in place, and then when the problem continued, I tried a full Erase and Install on the HD.
    IT STILL FREEZES.
After reading the lookupd forum and getting thoroughly confused by the fun scripting lingo, I tried unplugging the Ethernet cable after the crash occured, which seems to help unfreeze the system in the case of the lookupd bug. Didn't help. Tried rebooting without the network connected at all. No dice. I get about 5 to 20 seconds of functioning Mac, and then the crash occurs, so I can't even check my console logs.
I can't figure it out. The only thing I can think of right now is that it has something to do with the latest updates. On the last reinstall, I immediately installed all the Software updates. It made it through this process...and then the crashes begin again. I may try the reinstall once more to see if this affects the problem. I just concerned now about how many times I've manually had to powerdown the machine today - something like 15 to 20 times, and I've never made it to a 'natural' shutdown command, except when Hardware test is done telling me that I have no problems.
I haven't contacted Apple yet, but will once their customer support is open again tomorrow.
    Help! And thanks in advance.
    Leon

    Hi, Leon —
Edit: and Frank — glad to see your post! (Once I'd finally posted my loquacious message...)
Please accept a warm welcome to Apple Discussions! Sorry it's under these circumstances. . . you must be feeling very frustrated.
From what you've described so far, I haven't really heard evidence to support conclusions about lookupd, "the performance peak," "something to do with the latest updates," or a "fried motherboard." Sounds like in your frustration, you've tried quite a few "solutions" unsuccessfully, and are trying to think of ~anything that may explain things.
"What kind of crazy crash can do all that, [you] ask!"
More on all that in a moment. . .
Leon, my first thought is to suggest that you contact AppleCare immediately at
    (800) 275-2273 — and be prepared to be patient, spending whatever time may be necessary to work through a number of steps with the AppleCare tech. Although you may have read some participants expressing skepticism about this approach — my personal experience with AppleCare support has been outstanding.
The main reason I suggest this to you at the outset of posting is that I believe your situation warrants a more step-by-step, interactive supporting relationship than is easy to provide here, given the delays and Gee-I-wish-I'd-asked-that limitations of an online forum. If the problem(s) aren't solved during your initial conversation, you'll be given a case number for use at an Apple-Authorized Service Provider (AASP — limited to authorized hardware problems) or for future reference. If the problem persists, your subsequent call(s) may be forwarded to higher-level support folks.
That said, let me make a few comments about my previous statements, as promised.
Imho, the troubleshooting steps you've described sound as if you may benefit from a slightly more calm, organized, step-wise, and logical approach to diagnosis and attempts at "fixes." The first thing I recommend is that you pause, take a really deep breath, think (and note) very carefully about everything that you had done and observed before "the system froze when [you] tried to bring maximize iTunes from the Dock." As a few examples: any new or modified peripheral connections, cards, etc.? is your second internal HD new, or recently moved from your G4? had you just migrated some of the "usual graphic design and video work" from your "G4 laptop"? have you utilized Activity Monitor &/or your console logs to provide data correlating to the time(s) when problematic behavior began and ensued? etc.
From my own experience, taking the time to review the thought processes expressed in KnowledgeBase Articles 25392: Isolating issues in Mac OS X, 25398: Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue> and 4299: Application Issues and Basic Troubleshooting (and some of their links) may be very helpful — it can be difficult for all of us to keep everything in perspective when faced with such problems. Some parts of Article 106464: Your Mac won't start up in Mac OS X may also be pertinent.
    A few final points. You've mentioned "crazy crash(es)," leaving me wondering . . .
Are there <Application name>.crash.logs accessible using Console in either ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter or /Library/Logs/CrashReporter that correspond to any of the behaviors you've described? (Check the time stamps on entries vs. your recollections/observations.) How about panic.logs in /Library/Logs/? If you closely monitor the processes in an Activity Monitor window, do/have any showed up in red typeface — indicating they're "hanging" — and what are they?
Leon, I hope some of my suggestions are useful to you. Hang in there!
    Good luck!
    Dean

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can see what's in iCloud collectively at settings > iCloud > storage & back up > manage.... You can only edit the data through the appropriate app (contacts, calendars etc)
For problems with 3rd party apps, contact the developer.

  • Microphone issue that i need help fixing

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx laptop and I am having issues with my HD IDT codec intergrated mic, It stopped working and all of the settings are correct and it is saying the device is working properly but i still continue to not be able to record anything. External mics work but the intergrated doesn't. I have already tried to udate, roolback then update, and uninstall and reinstall the driver for it and non of that works. if i tap the top of the laptop above the lcd where the camera and mic are it gives the sound indicating that something is being turned off. Any suggestions or has anyone had the same issues?

This morning in an attempt to fix it, I could not get it to boot from the disk
How exactly did you try to do this? If you tried so by pressing "C", instead try to press the option-key (alt-key) immediately after having pressed the power button. Normally, you'll be presented with all bootable disks, and you can choose which one to boot from. Another possibility is that you'll be presented with a password-screen, which means that a firmware-password has been set. In that case, you'd be better off by asking the previous owner for the password.

The colors on my iphone suddenly became polarized. Has anyone had this problem and do you know how I can fix it?

  • For the last 2 days, my battery has been draining rapidy.  Anyone else having issues?  How can I fix it.

I've had my iPhone 4S for over a year now and have had no issues.  All of a sudden, two or three days ago, my battery has been draining rapidly.  I am on IOS 6.01 and have been for about a month.  I have now turned everything off, including iCloud backup.  Appreciate knowing if anyone else is having sudden battery draining.

A rogue app can sometimes drain resources when it has a background process running. Usually this can be cleared with a simple soft reset. Have you tried that? If so, have you installed any new apps recently? You might want to try uninstalling the last new app or two you added to see if that makes any difference.

  • Getting messages "startup disk is full" and activity monitor is showing "syslog d" is using a lot of CPU.  I'm planning on getting more memory for my late 2008 model Macbook but wondering if there's something that is causing problems that I can also fix.

I had closed out of all of my programs but heard the internal fans running so I checked the activity monitor.  It shows syslog d as the top process using the CPU right now.  I have no idea what that means.
I read a thread about the startup disk being full and how you can free up memory.  I have an airport extreme so TimeCapsule is backing up everything.  I do have a bunch of pictures on iPhoto on the laptop;  could move those to another location but I'm a little gunshy.  I know they are on the TimeCapsule but I would like to save them to a second place before deleting from laptop just to be sure.  I went through several things yesterday and emptied trash, etc.  I wasn't able to locate the hidden files that the thread about the startup disk being full was referencing --- they were talking about large emails that were causing processes to happen taking up the CPU.... I wasn't able to find out if that was the case for me.
Also I'm going to look into getting another 2MB of memory and installing it on the Macbook, so I can upgrade to the latest OS.  Anyone have an idea if that is worth the $$$ over buying a new laptop?  Or anyone have ideas as to where to buy memory, etc.
    Any ideas - help!

  • IPod sync...weird issue...can't fix it!

    Hi all,
I have noticed that I regularly still have playlists on my iPod that I have deleted from my iTunes library. It doesn't show up in my library, nor does it when I change from manually syncing to automatically syncing.
How can I get rid of it from my iPod?
    Regards,
    dpwright

    Hello Daniel,
Perhaps this Apple support document can help you out. It explains how to delete playlists off your iPod, whether you are manually managing it or automatically.
[Adding and Deleting Songs and playlists from your iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1855]
If still no luck with either of these, your best bet would be to restore the iPod via iTunes to remove the playlists.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod works on XP but unknown on windows 7 and undetected on a Mac, I sent it in and they tell me its a port issue but they can't fix cause its vintage but no one bothers explaining why it works on XP, stupid user experience, help, I want an answer

I got the run around from staff members with none explaining to me why as well as multiple emails avoiding the question and giving me the same stupid answer as below, are you going to tell merge same thing next week when my iPhone/ iPad goes faulty, your apologies mean nothing o me if you can't solve my problem
The iPod was booked in with the fault report, "unit does not connect to iTunes"
Putting the unit docking station, it charges but it does not charge when connected to a computer
The iPod is vintage so the are no parts or replacements for it
Please accept our sincerest apologies upon this matter

thanks 0Ari0, your suggestion of labeling all the files as part of a compilation worked. After I did this i changed the media kind to audiobook, and voila, one single book appeared in the Audiobooks submenu. The individual files aren't listed under their proper artist in the iTunes music folder, but I don't really care about that. I'm ok with having the book listed in Compilations as long as it's all in one piece.
    thank you
