Color Issues with exported JPGs

Hello,
This is my 1st post on the forums and hopefully someone can help. I am using a Dell 2407 24 inch LCD for photo processing. I have calibrated my monitor with Heey Pro 1.5. The custom profle loads at windows startup (I see the colors snap to the correct settings). I use Lightroom 2.6 and am running a Vista 64 bit PC. Everything is running great. However I have noticed that my files coming out of Lightroom look much more saturated color wise.
I'm a Photographer and shoot all photos in Canon RAW. Both cameras are set to sRGB. I then import the files into LR. When I'm done processing them, I export the files to JPG, 100 quality, sRGB. When I view them in windows, or through an image viewer or the web, the colors look much more saturated. My friend is running almost the exact same setup and his files look identical in LR, windows and in a web browser. What could be happening here? So as a result I think the files look good in LR but then when they are exported, the look way too saturated. What could be causing this???
Here's an example oo what I'm seeing: http://lifesharephoto.smugmug.com/photos/871756198_22ecN-L.png
Can someone please help me figure this out? Thank you!

It's your monitor. It is a wide gamut one (it probably has HC in the full name?), which means it has a response closer to adobeRGB than to the standard sRGB. When you use non color managed apps (such as internet explorer) on such a monitor and use sRGB, the image will appear oversaturated. You need to only judge color in color managed apps on such a monitor. Some browsers are color managed such as Firefox and Safari. Unfortunately Firefox does not know how to deal with profiles generated from the Huey Pro, so it will not color manage when you use that calibrator. Safari will always color manage. Other apps that color manage are Photoshop, Windows picture viewer (for Vista and later), Irfanview (latest versions), etc. On the Mac almost every program color manages.

  • Issue with exporting JPGs

Camera: Nikon D7100 Using 14-bit RAW   So somehow I've failed to notice that when I export after editing and using the resize option (to 2000x2000), the quality of the resulting JPEG is soft and lacking in detail/clarity that exists in the image in LR. Even when I export it without resizing, leaving it in the natively taken resolution, the clarity and sharpness is gone. I've tried using the sharpen for screen settings but it doesn't fix the basic issue of the softness/clarity. I thought it might be the JPG view I was using (the default photo viewer in windows 8), so I reimported it back into lightroom but it shows the same lack of clarity/sharpness.   Attached is a sample of the issue. One is a screenshot of how it looks in LR, the other how it exports. 100% Quality, 72 resolution (have tried the default of 240 and it didn't change anything), sRGB color space. Am I doing something wrong with exporting?

It happens on both version 5.71 and on version 6 (CC). I'm having the issue that others have had where the develop and library module previews don't match and what is being exported is how the library module sees the edited photo. I understand that there are different preview algorithms for library/develop but that shouldn't matter when exporting.
This post has a pretty lengthy discussion about the issue but has no resolution:
Develop module & library module aren't matching

  • Strange Issue With Exporting JPgs

I am having a strange problem with exporting my vector files to jpgs.  When I export the file as a .jpg then open it some of the text or shapes (like rectangles or squares) are gone.  When I go back and open the .ai file the stuff is there, but it's just gone on the jpg.  If I open the .ai file in Photoshop it is gone also.  I have to save the file as a pdf then open the pdf in Photoshop and export as a .jpg from there.  It is very strange.  If I go into the Illustrator file and re-type the text that disapers, it usualy corrects the probelm.  I am not an expert with Illustrator so I may be doing something wrong, if anyone can help please let me know, thanks!! (I have CS3)

I am using Windows XP with CS3, I do not see a box to uncheck it.  I  just
cleared the attributes and reapplied the fill color and that  worked. But I
only see the overprint on the shapes but when the text is  diapering I do
not see the overprint in the attributes panel nor on the shape  that is behind
    the text.

  • Colors issues with exporting.

I just purchased a new Dell monitor and have it calibrated using a Spyder Pro 4.  The issue I am having is I will edit the photos as I want in Lightroom 3 and they are fine.  When I export them they look alot different.  I will open them up and they have the wrong tones and the colors are way off.  I also tried to upload them to Zenfolio, but it is also showing the wrong colors.  How do I correct this in Lightroom so that the colors match what I have when I export them.  I have never had this problem
Example.  I have exported a file and then opened it up using Microsoft Digital Image 10 just as a viewer and there are alot more reds in it vs what I have in Lightroom.  I am confused on what is going on.  Please help me fix this problem.
    THanks!

I had this problem on a PC once, it turned out there was a particular Windows Update need, once installed everything was fine.
Go and run windows update. restart the machine, then run windows update again and keep doing so until you can find no more updates for your system.
Also, just to be on the safe side, check your colour managent policy settings under Edit>Colour Settings.

  • Illustrator CS6 color issues when saving JPG

I have recently gotten rid of the Pantone+ color books and replaced them with the old color books, using the "Workaround 1: Replace Pantone Plus with older Pantone color books" help from Adobe. Followed all of the instrauctions and had no issues until two weeks ago. Then suddenly when saving PDFs I had to start changing the output Color Conversion to ' convert to destination'. I never had to take this extra step before. Now if I do not do this it saves some colors as black. Whatever, I got over that and take the extra step.
TODAY, now I can't even save JPGs without color issues. Some JPGs save correctly. Then I use the same color in a different file, and it saves completely different. Same color profiles, swatch options, blah blah blah.
Someone help me. I am extremely fed up with these issues. Like everyone else, this is my job and now it is making a huge impact on my work...

What program are you using to view the PDFs?

  • Issues with export with upgrade to 3.3

I am experiencing issues with export with 3.3
The image looks great in the Browser after editing. However when I checked the export folder I discovered corrupt files.
I only dicovered it because I tried to email one of the images.
2 out of 200 the blacks had solarized meaning all blacks went to white.
Never had this problem before in any of my Aperture Versions since day one.
The bottom line problem how can trust that the images are ok on export whitout having to look at every single export later.
This is embarissing since I had already delivered a project not knowing there were bad files.
Additionally images do not seem to be as sharp before the upgrade. I am using Nikon 300 and Nikon 7000 with San Disk Cards.
Do I have to do some camera profiling ?

Have you checked the Color Profile setting in the export preset you are using?
I found my Color Profile settings switched to different settings after the upgrade.
    Try the Generic RGB profile.

  • Issue with export in Excel in WAD

    Hi
I have an issue with export to excel in WAD. I have a web template with two or more tabs.
On the webtemplate I have two buttons to export to excel. One to export the content from the active tab and one button to export content in all tabs.
My problem is that when I export to excel it always add the current/active content twice. I've tried with both buttons and they work as expected except that they export one table to much (the active).
can anyone help / give a clue what to look for.

  • Export color vs. print to file color issue with 2.3RC

    Hi,
I'm having problems with exporting photos for web-site usage.
In short: colors get extremely washed out and plain when using "export to disk" (requesting sRGB color profile, in jpg-format). But, when "printing to file" using sRGB profile and rendering intent perceptual colors are reasonably close to what I see in LR. Yes, I know, sRGB is limited, but...
Why there is such a difference when both methods are using sRGB for generated jpg? Is it the fact that rendering intent can not be selected for "export to disk"?
As I can not control pixel dimensions in Print mode is not an option for my use (and I can not control sharpening with plug-in, but the color issue is there to begin with without any export plugin intervention).
In contrast, LR 1.4 export to disk gives reasonable colors, the color issue has appeared with 2.x series.
Running Windows XP SP3, LR 2.3RC, display calibrated with Color Vision SPyder 2.
Please help, this is driving me nuts :(

I think, that your examples shows the same problem as my observations.
It seems that your display has even smaller gamut than sRGB (on my notebook DELL D620 this is also the case) so after you calibrated it, both lightroom and color managed firefox shows more saturated colors than windows explorer showing exported image (as far as I know, export from library module works correctly, but win explorer is not doing conversion to your monitor profile, that's why image is undersaturated). This is correct. It is really hard to calibrate such a low quality display, which can often be found on cheap notebooks - I have my own experience with it. Blue shades are really weak so heavy corrections have to be done in the profile (generated with spyder in your case), which can result in purple skies (why? Read this: http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?WorkingSpaceInfo.html).
Problem is with image printed to file. This should look same as file exported from library module given that you use sRGB both as a destination space in export from library and as a printer profile while printing to file. In your case LR printed your image using values corresponding to your monitor profile (even if sRGB was selected) which resulted in oversaturated image (because your display has smaller gamut than sRGB). In my case images printed to file are undersaturated (because my monitor has gamut wider than sRGB). But I'm sure this is a bug! Your monitor profile should not affect printing to file in any case if sRGB is selected as printer profile!
Summary: purle sky in LR and in color managed FF is ok, but purple sky in image printed to file is not ok. :-)
And my hint: do not try to calibrate this display... :-)
You can try to make some measurements of your UNCALIBRATED NB display using this freeware: http://www.homecinema-fr.com/colorimetre/index_en.php You will probably see a very uneven color temperature across grayscale and much smaller gamut than sRGB.
    Let us know your findings.

  • SSRS 2012 Conditional Formatting Color Issues When Exporting to Excel

    Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SQL 2012 from SQL2008 R2. I'm having a strange issue with SSRS2012.
One of the report has conditional formattings on cell background colors. Everything works fine when render the report in browser or preview mode. However, the conditional formatting stop working when export the report to Excel (no issues if
export to pdf). All cells are high-lightened with pre-defined color although it should only high-lighten those cells that fulfil the condition.
Has someone encountered this issue before ? Thanks for any help.

    Hi ZZ02,
I have test the scenario in my testing environment, however, everything goes well when exporting to Excel format. The issue might be related to the expression for the conditional background color. To make further analysis, please post the expression as well
    as the report design structure.
Additionally, in SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, the Excel rendering extension renders a report to the native format of Microsoft Excel 2007-2010, the format of which is ExcelOpenXML. By default, the previous version of the Excel rendering extension,
compatible with Microsoft Excel 2003, is disabled. At this time, I suggest that you enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension by modifying the RSReportServer.config file. After that, the Excel 2003 rendering format will be available on report manager (not
available in Report Designer). So, please export the report from report manager and check the result again.
For more information about enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension, please see:

  • Issue with saving JPG's

I have an issue with Photoshop CC that I am hoping is just a setting because at present it is a real PITA.
I have photos in Lightroom that I have exported in JPG format. I want to bring them into PS and then apply a simple crop to them. I have the option to delete outside the crop area selected.
Crop works fine but when I try to save I can simply save it as a JPG. Rather PSD comes up as the option. If I select JPEG from the dropdown the "Save as copy" is active and I end up with two images or I have to change the file name.
Other versions let me open up JPGs, alter them and then save them as JPGs without issue so what is going on here?

Usually when Photoshop defaults to PSD it means there's something about the document can't be saved in JPEG format - an extra channel (e.g., selection saved) or data beyond the edge of the crop (you've covered that) or the fact that it has a non-Background layer, or something...
Can you screengrab your environment at the time when it wants to save as PSD (but without the file-save dialog blocking the view)?  Save the image as a PNG or JPEG and post it here via the little camera icon just above the editor box.

  • Color issues with video

    Hi All,
    Thanks for looking in.
I have a little web series I am doing and when it is exported it looks good. (Color) When uploaded to Youtube looks good. When previewing it through my channel looks good. When going to full screen view, the color gets wacky... Oranges are really orange, almost an overbleed, some of the graphics become pixilated.
I am exporting this file as a 720 h264.mov  Mixed down from 1080 29.fps shot in 60p All looks good as mentioned, but even some of the P.S Graphics are getting blown out. Which are created in 1080 and then shrunk down to a 320 size. All done in P.S such as Text, Gradient.  Other videos I watch on the same computer do not have the issues mine does..Leads me to believe my HD monitor on my Toshiba Laptop is not doing the change, it has to do with my video.
The screen that it is being full-screened on is my laptop 20 or 21" monitor.  Toshiba Sattelite HD BTW
Any suggestions on what I should be looking at? Is this overcome with exporting it as a 1080? Or is this where Speed Grade plays a role? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on this.  It's like a color correction issue only when full screened.
    Thanks again,
    NC

320 to fit into a virtual monitor in my fake news studio. A quality 1080 file then shrunk down in PP when installing it on a virtual monitor within a virtual set.  Leaving with a size of about 320 down from the original of 1080.
To elaborate on the set. The whole set is getting blow out in Full Screen. Yet looks great at regular view. Looked good on my Dell monitor during editing. Looked good on my Dell monitor when previewing .mov file after export. Previewing in FullScreen. BTW. Only gets blown out via Youtube after upload and then using the FullScreen mode from there.

  • Issue with exporting Financial Report in Smartview 11.1.2.2

If I export a FR in "Export in query Mode" , it concatenates the parent with the child (parent.child) and does not return anything in Smartview. Even though the report works fine in workspace.
I narrowed down the issue and it seems if I use Stored member roll up instead of using Shared member roll up it returns the right data when I export the report in Smartview.
So the issue is only with the FR using Shared members.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue or can replicate this in their environment ? We are on version 11.1.2.2
    Thanks

Nope that didn't work, but I figured out the error. I was running the command on a client machine. When I run the command on the server itself, it works fine.. well, now I have issues with my POVs, but at least it's finding my .csc file.
    Thanks for your help John.

  • Cintiq 21ux Color Issue with Snow Leopard

I just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. I have a Cintiq 21ux tablet that is noticeably "faint" now on the new SL. It appears hazy and the colors just don't pop like they did on Tiger. I didn't have this issue with Tiger. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct the issue? I'm a graphic designer so color is EXTREMELY critical in my day to day operations.
I adjusted the gamma and that showed some improvement but there is still a dramatic difference between my Apple monitor and the Cintiq.
I noticed this was posted earlier but no resolution provided and it was archived.
    Please help!

Something just occurred to me that has happened in the past that when I've upgraded the OS that the ColorSync profile that was previously selected for the Cintiq and/or my main display for whatever reason gets unselected. You may want to look in the System Preferences/Display/Color Tab to make sure that the color profile you previously had selected is in fact still there and selected. Make sure that "Show profiles for this display only" is unchecked so that all profiles are visible. More than likely it should be named something like Cintiq 21UX or Cintiq 12WX which was installed when you set up the tablet.

  • Issues with exporting video from MacBook Pro to flash drive

I cannot sucessfully transfer [export] video taken on my gopro camera, from my MacBook Pro to any flash drive and play them on other computers.  For some reason the files are not playable, even with quicktime.  They will not play with ANY of my video softwares such as divx or any AVCHD software on a windows computer.  I need to make a presentation for a club trip in a few days! Can any one please suggest what is wrong?  They play on the Mac using Flip player but not quicktime!
Oh, and I don't have issues with transfering or exporting Jpegs or other photo formats.  Only video.
    Message was edited by: gmob25

hmmm.. the files from GoPro are already mp4 format.  The Flash is already FAT32, brand new 16gig...
I am new to Macs but have no problems with PC's.  I suspect that because the files are exporting as shadowed files which won't play and are very small kb files, yet they are actually in excess of 140 mb each that it might have something to do with the iphoto software?  That's where the pics and video are, they imported to there by default, not to a folder in the home folder [which is where I would have expected them to be]
By the way, the GoPro is already in mp4 format so it is easy when transferring to computers. No need to convert. I tried converting them to see what the outcome might be, and none worked!  I tried every format I could find using Video converter ultimate software, which is excellent.
And the problems began when quicktime wouldnt play the file, the screen was black.

  • Issue with exported playlist song order

I exported a playlist (with the playlist sorted on the manually arranged order, far left column) as a .xml file using iTunes 7.0.2. When a friend imports this playlist into his iTunes (7.0.1) the song order is incorrect (again with sorting done on the far left column). When I look at the exported XML file with a text editor the order of the song entries is also wrong in the XML file. Has anyone elsed noticed this problem?

Actually, I looked more closely in the text editor and the playlist order looks correct so there appears to be an issue with 7.0.1 (I guess).
