Color LaserJet 2600n printing issues

When we print color images, the magenta does not print at all. Also it will smudge the ink on both ends of the paper. I cleaned the belt and it wasnt dirty at all. Hoep you can help.

This seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support.

  • Networking a HP color laserjet 2600n printer on windows 7 (64-bit)?

    Hello,
Have an HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer and are running Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit). I installed >> HP Color LaserJet 2600n Plug and Play Package off of HP website [ http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=446154&p... ]. The drivers work fine if you connect via USB port but unfortunately there's no way to connect via network.  Can anyone give me guidance on how to connect the 2006n via a network on windows 7 (64-bit)?
    Thanks

Have you plugged the printer into your router and does it have a proper IP address?  If so:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • Color Laserjet 2600n print quality is terrible! Help!

I have had my 2600n for about two years now and I've never been able to get it to print like it should, the demo page is beautiful every time, but anything from my computer looks terrible, there are certain things I can tweak and they'll print pretty well but I'm constantly running into problems. I would blame it on the toner or the printer but like I said, the demo page looks amazing every time, so it has to be a computer thing. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I'm getting so frustrated and I feel like the only fix is spending $300-400 on a new printer which I'd hate to do because this printer should be fine!  I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9, I used to have a Windows 7 PC and I'm pretty sure it had the same problems.
If anyone has any ideas for me I will be forever grateful!

The Colour LaserJet 2600n printer is a host-based device, which means that:
It doesn't understand any of the traditional Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL6, PostScript).
All of the major work of rendering is done on the host workstation.
What is sent to the printer is (a series of) encapsulated, compressed, raster images; the printer just unencapsulates and uncompresses these, and prints the resultant pixels.
Perhaps what is happening is that the Mac (which, as far as I'm aware) usually natively generates PostScript jobs, and these must be converted (by whatever the Mac equivalent of a printer driver is) to the required (proprietary) host-based format - such conversions sometimes introduce unwanted issues.
Having said that, if you also experienced the same problems with a Windows 7 workstation, then something else may be responsible for the poor quality.

  • Color LaserJet 3800 Printing Issues

I am in the process of upgrading our desktop computers to Windows 7 Pro (x64). In preparation for this we setup a new print server running Windows Server 2008 R2 and created new print queues for each of the printers on our old Windows 2003 server, installed curent drivers for each, and thought that all would be good.
The issue I am seeing is that our users who are printing to an HP Color LaserJet 3800 are getting letter spacing issues where some letters are crushed together and others are too widely spaced (see example above). I can print the same document to an HP Color LaserJet 3600 everything looks correct.
I have verified that the print server has the HP Color LaserJet 3800 driver that comes with Windows Server 2008 R2 and that the other printer is running the HP Color LaserJet 3600 driver. These are both probably the ones available through Windows Update. Finally, we have tested a solution where the Universal Print driver is intalled locally and that seems to work fine. However, I don't want to have drivers individually installed if I can help it.
    Any ideas here?

  • Color LaserJet 5550 Printing Issues

    Hi All,
I am having one problem on 2 HP Color LaserJet 5550 printers. The problem seems to be sporadic in nature, but on some full page prints, a small black line is printed across the image. I have tried running a PQ Troubleshooting test through the printer's diagnostics option, but everything seems to print fine when I do this.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • HP color laserjet 2600n - printing problem.

When the my HP color laser jet 2600n print a page, it is no question if this is blank or colored, the paper show 2 vertical strips constiued for more parallel very thin lines.
One strip is large about 1.2 cm at 3,5 cm from the edge; the other is large about 0.5 cm at 4 cm from the opposit edges.
The color of the bands is primarily cyan - green.
The intensity of the strips is different from any print.
    The problem is increased quickly.
The levels of any toners are about 45%.
The HP page print test for the toner cartige do not show any problem (however there are even the 2 verical strips).
The tranfer roller, after the printig proces, is no clean and present the sames strips above described.
I cleaned by a liquid soft cleaner the transfer roller and other part easily detachable and finding in this the presence of dirty then removed: any improvement.
I observe that the photosensitive drums of the cartrige toners (cyan e magenta) are not perfectly clean: it present traces of toner in corrispondence of the bands.
I think about a phenomenon of fat dirty  that has propagated from the rollerr to the drums.
Some other user has already found my problem?
Could I look for to resolve without resort to the after-sales service?
How to can eventually clean the drums?
    Sorry for my bad English.
    Thank you.

    1. take out all of the ink cartriges and look at the big black roller on the door for streaking, if streaking, clean with a lint free cloth dampened with windex (window cleaner) then close the door.
    2. let it run to initializing.
    3. open the door and look and the black roller on the door to see if you have streaking. If no streaking put one cartridge in and close the door and repeat the steps until you find what cartridge is causing the problem.
I did this and found that my cyan was creating the lines on my paper. I cleaned the cyan roller with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol and it works fine now, no more lines on the paper.
    Cheers

  • HP Color LaserJet 2600n and HP IP Printing

I was having trouble configuring my HP Color LaserJet 2600n for HP IP Printing. The following steps resovled the problem. Perhaps others may find this useful.
I just purchased an HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer at CompUSA. I was able to successfully connect it to my network and print using Bonjour Printing (from all of my various iMac, iBook, PowerBook and MacBook computers), but was not able to configure it for TCP/IP printing. To solve the problem,
    1. I visited the HP website and downloaded new firmware for the printer:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us &prodNameId=446154&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEn vOID=219
There are 3 files there, I downloaded and installed all of them in the following order:
    2. HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer Firmware Update Utility - for some reason, the firmware on my new printer was from 2005 even though HP had posted new firmware as late as Dec 2006.
    3. HP color LaserJet 2600n DC controller firmware update utility - a firmware update that addresses a ghost-image issue.
    4. HP Color LaserJet 2600n OS X Universal Binary Full Software Solution - an updated set of drivers.
After all firmware and software was successfully updated....
    5. I opened /Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility.app and click the "Default Browser" button at the top of the page.
    6. Clicked the "More Printers..." button at the bottom of the page.
    7. Set the popup at the top of the configuation pane to "HP IP Printing" and clicked the "Manual" button immediately below it.
    8. Entered the local network address for my printer (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and clicked the "Connect" button. The rest of the information in the panel was automatically filled in for me.
    9. Clicked the "Add" button. The printer was added to the list of available printers in the Printer List, although the name of the printer is set to the ID that is configured in the printer firmware.
    10. Select the new printer (NPIA0853X in my case) and click the "Show Info" button in the Printer List toolbar. Move the popup on the dialog to "Name and Location" and enter an new name (e.g., "HP Color LaserJet 2600n").

Download and run this on the XP machine.  I suspect a security system update or change, but let's let the utility tell us.

  • Unable to network print to HP Color LaserJet 2600n connected to Windows PC

I just got a new MacBook Pro and I am trying to print on my network to a HP Color LaserJet 2600n that is connected and shared on a Windows PC. I have carefully followed the instruction posted on http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html and I am still unable to print. I made sure the printer name on the remote PC has no spaces. After I enter (on my Mac) my user name and password to access the user account on the remote Windows PC, I get the following error message:
Unable to connect to server with the provided password and user name. Error: 256
    Please help! Thank you!
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The Windows PC is running the Windows XP Firewall, the Avast Antivirus, and Windows Defender. I have deactivated all these applications and the issue persists.
I called Apple today (I am still in my 90-day free support since this is a new MacBook Pro). After some basic troubleshooting with a tier one rep, I was transfered to a tier 2 rep who told me after making sure that I was following the right steps to try to add the printer, that since the HP LaserJet 2600n printer is connected to a Windows XP computer, my set-up is not supported by Apple and declined continuing troubleshooting the issue. According to this person Apple will only support network printing when the printer is directly attached to a hub/router.

  • HP Color LaserJet 2600n issues

If someone could assist me I would truly appreciate it.
I have an HP Color LaserJet 2600n that has been installed on my network (I inherited it 2 years ago) and has been working without any issues.
We recently moved our print server to a new server and configured the printer on the network, along with 2 other copiers/printers.  Everything has been working fine for a few days.  Then all of a sudden no one can print, all of the print spoolers on the XP Pro workstations have stopped.  A short while later they will restart again (color printer not included).  I uninstalled the HP 2600n from the server and everyone can print perfectly fine on the two other printers.  No issues.
    Here's where it gets frustrating....
I download new drivers from HP website and install on the server (Windows 2003).  I do not share it yet, but do several (20 or 30 test prints - from notepad, websites, test page, etc) and there are no issues.  I then share the printer and install the printer on a workstation (XP Pro) and test the same - 20 to 30 times.  Everything works great. (Keep in mind the workstation I am logged into is mine and I have Administrator rights).
I go to a users workstation (XP Pro) has Power User rights on the machine but not the network they are an average user.  I install the printer, not an issue there.  I try to print a test page and the print spooler stops.  If I look on the server you can see the job sitting there.  If I restart the print spooler, the job prints.  I tested this on 3 other workstations, logged in as users and the same thing happens.  If I log into all of the 4 workstations as Administrator, the job prints without an issue.
Does anyone have any idea as to what I can do to resolve this?
    Thank you!

Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

  • Hp color laserjet 2600n, very dim grayish film when printing black only

For some reason, my hp color laserjet 2600n has started printing with a very dim grayish film over each page. I've had this printer for about a year, and it didn't do this at first. Does it no matter what program I print from. I'm sure it's a setting issue, but haven't been able to figure it out. Any ideas?
And, when I select to print in black only, it still prints the color on web pages. Is there a way to print from only the black cartridge? These are the options in the printer dialogue box under color: print in grayscale, black only, 4-color. Under these settings are other options, edge control, half-tone and RGB color. I've tried each setting individually and still the gray film. The only other possibility I can see is under Print Options, it has draft quality or image quality. I've tried both and still the film.
    Have any ideas.

    1. take out all of the ink cartriges and look at the big black roller on the door for streaking, if streaking, clean with a lint free cloth dampened with windex (window cleaner) then close the door.
    2. let it run to initializing.
    3. open the door and look and the black roller on the door to see if you have streaking.

  • Color troubles printing to HP Color Laserjet 2600n

We are a school with a networked environment that includes about 40 Macbook Pros and 60 iMacs. Included in there are several eMacs and PCs. Over the past several weeks, our HP Color LaserJet 2600n printers have begun to exhibit printing where rather than the normal color printing, there appears to be added black toner on the print jobs. The PCs and eMacs are not exhibiting this problem at all, thus I eliminated the fuser possibility. I looked more at a potential driver issue.
These 2600n printers are shared out to the MBPs and iMacs via Workgroup Manager. They connect to these printers via Bonjour for printing. We do have an 802.11n wifi network with multiple SSIDs but no matter if it is cnonected over SSID or over wired gigabit ethernet, the problem still exists.
I tried printing via IP address, but the computers would not readily recognize the printers during setup, and when I manually selected the driver, the computers could not connect to the printer.
So, I am trying to figure out why all of a sudden these print jobs are exihibing severe color issues.

OK, I think I might have a solution. I have not tested it but I need to do a bit more research. What I have discovered is that it might be a Firmware issue. We found one that is still working fine and it actually has the older firmware numbered 20050610. The ones were are having the issues with are on firmware numbered 20070716.
I am going to see if I can revert the firmware... if I can find the older firmware!
