Color matching: iWeb '09 and Keynote '09

I need a little help. I am planning to use a movie of a Keynote '09 presentation on my iWeb '09 website. In both Keynote and iWeb I have specified the same exact background colors using the same three (identical) RGB values. However, the colors are not the same when I import the movie into iWeb.
I need the colors to match exactly. Any suggestions re: what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks,
-AstraPoint

In System Preferences, under Display and under Color, what is your Display profile set for? I've been dealing with an inconsistency between iWeb and Keynote for awhile, and this MAY be able to help you. I've found that, if I set my profile to Gamma 2.2 or sRGB before opening iWeb, the colors between the two end up being a LOT closer, almost exact. The screen looks odd at sRGB, not so much at Gamma 2.2, so you may want to change it back after all your Publishing activities are done.
This page is a good example if the results.

I created the logo in another app and brought it into Keynote as a .pdf. I picked the color of the medium shade of red for the banner in the back. If my profile is set as normal, when I copy this over to iWeb and publish, the red banner in the back is off. If I change my profile, THEN open iWeb and publish, everything looks like you see it. It has something to do with how iWeb is treating colors and how it creates the images required for display, but this may help.
NOW, to throw ANOTHER wrench into things, I found that this COULD be affected by the browser and it's ability to render colors properly as well! While it looked bad on a Mac, it looked fine on a PC, now, it looks better on both, but that may be something else you'll want to take a look at when trying to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Color matching between Ai and Ae

I've been trying to recreate some simple elements from an Illustrator document in After Effects, but I can't get the colors to match. I've read up on setting color profiles and to the best of my knowledge I set them correctly (but I'm probably missing something).
I set the illustrator document to Adobe RGB (Edit > assign profile) and i set after effects to the same (file > project settings).
But i still can't get the colors to match. Just so you know I'm setting the colors using the RGB values from illustrator.
    What am I missing?

Don't assign any profiles at all, just work in normal RGB mode. The rest may simply relate to a hopelessly mis-tweaked monitor or a wrong monitor profile and the apps dealing different with that part.

  • Wrong color matching between Acrobat and ID, PS, Ai

using the new CC I have this problem: in acrobat pdf + colors are darker than the same files open with PS-ID or AI.

Acrobat doesn't use the global CS color settings. You have to set them manually in the Acrobat prefs.

  • IWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 can't load iPhoto images in media browser

Ever since yesterday, my iWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 have been experiencing problems loading iPhoto 09 images in the media browser. I have no problems loading my audio files, movie files, and widgets, but when it comes to iPhoto picture files, the system just hangs. Luckily, it doesn't crash; it just says "Loading iPhoto images" forever.
I'm guessing that the problem is with iPhoto 09, because the media browser has no problems loading my Aperture picture files.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get iWeb, Pages, and Keynote to load my iPhoto pics in the media browser?
    Thanks!

    1. Quit iPhoto.
    2. Go to your Pictures Folder (or where ever you have your Library) and find the iPhoto Library there (Your Donor Library).
    3. Right Click on it, and from the resulting menu select ‘Show Package Contents’. A Finder window will open and the Library will be exposed.
    4. Find the following files
    AlbumData.xml
    AlbumData2.xml
and move them to the desktop.
    5. Close up the Library and restart iPhoto. This will force iPhoto to rebuild those files which are key to sharing.
Then restart the other apps and see does that help.
By the way: where is your Library? On the Start Up Disk? On an external?

  • Color matching trouble in Keynote!

When I draw a shape in keynote and assign it RGB colours, in this case 147,15,165, I can't get an inserted image to match in color. The logo I insert is also in RGB, an .eps created in Illustrator. I tried everything; saving it as an eps, pdf, a jpg, png. What should I do?

No, you can't change the color of photos in Keynote. You need to bring them into Photoshop. You CAN sample a color in a photo and change the color of a shape you drew in Keynote to match but you can't adjust the colors of imported graphics within Keynote.

  • Cannot paste and match style bug in keynote '09

Since upgrading to Keynote '09 I cannot utilize the past and match style function when wanting to duplicate fonts between slides. For instance, if I want to highlight some text from a working document and put that text onto a slide in Keynote, I select the text and copy it- go into keynote and click on my slide and then right click to insert the highlighted text. After the upgrade the text just drops in the (default black font from the document) - not the larger white font on the black background slide.
So now I have to manually highlight each text box - 1) change font 2) change font color.....very frustrating and time consuming. I have yet to see any one else on the forums having a similar issue with Keynote '09

I am rarely on these forums and was just browsing over lunch when I saw yours.
The Paste and Match style command pastes the text in to the text box with the font and style already allocated to that text box, regardless of its origin.
If you just do a regular Paste (Command V - not sure about your right clicking as I have a single button mouse) that will paste the words in with their original font and format.
I use the Copy and Paste Style keyboard shortcuts ALL the time; it saves so much time. Just highlight the text form you want (font, size, colour etc) and, instead of just Command C to copy it, do an Alt Command C . . this copies the format and not the text. Highlight the text you want to change (it doesn't work if you just pick the text box - you have to highlight the text itself) and Alt Command V to paste in the new formats. You can do this with any objects too - drop shadows, line weights, fills, colours etc. This also works between Pages and Keynote.
What I most want from Apple is a Copy and Paste Build command!
    Hope this helps

Please do not post the entire messages log as it takes up unnecessarily a lot of space.  It seems that there is a corrupt/nonfunctional file called

Go to your hard drive, enter library, go into users, and go into launch agents and delete the thing above.  Empty the trash and restart.

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Aperture, Display and Printer Color Match/Profile Calibration ?

I need to calibrate my HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m Printer to match what I see on my Acer X223w 22 inch display when using Aperture 3 and Photoshop CS5
The colors are pretty close to matching but each photo I print comes out deeper in color ( shadows and highlights are off )
I have the Acer display Color Profile set to Adobe RGB 1998, All photos shot with my Nikon D5000 in RAW format and Color Profile Adobe RGB 1998,
Aperture 3.03 Proofing Profile Adobe RGB 1998 and when I print a photo I set HP Color Matching / ColorSync to Adobe RGB 1998
I've been using Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201 for prints but can't find a profile for it to add to my HP Printer.
If I did find a profile how would I install it so it would show up in the drop down list of paper types ?

Well I'm pretty amazed that the prints are just slightly off, with all the things you're doing wrong in color management.
First off, you don't seem to know the difference between a device profile and a working space (i.e. 'synthetic' profiles), since you assigned AdobeRGB to both your monitor and printer. You should profile your printer and display with special hardware, like the X-Rite Colormunki. This will generate a profile, that will translate how color should look theoretically (by the assigned working space e.g. AdobeRGB), to how they will look on the hardware.
Secondly, RAW-images do not have a color profile! The setting in the camera only applies to in-camera JPEGs. RAW files only contain the voltages the CCD measured, this has to be translated into in image later.
Thirdly, softproofing in AdobeRGB almost never makes any sense. It doesn't make any sense if your are softproofing in AdobeRGB if you want to match screen to print. Your softproofing profile should be the profile that is specific for your printer and paper combination. The only synthetic profile that makes sense to softproof to is sRGB, since that is the colorspace used on the web. And even that is disputable since 99.9% of web user do not have a calibrated/profiled monitor.
Fourthly, Adding a color profile will not add a paper type to the drop down list in the printer driver. These are hard-coded in the printer driver and basically determine the amount of ink being placed on the paper.
So I'd suggest at this point to fetch yourself a copy of 'Real World Color Management' by Bruce Fraser (ISBN 9780321267221) and read it from the front to the back before you again embark on the path of color management.

  • Matching color between a video and a photo in PS CC

    Hi,
I am trying to match the color between a Video and a photo in Photoshop CC.
This works ok with the color matching tool. Image > Adjustments > match color.
However, it only matches the color of the 1st frame and no the whole video.
Is there a way to use the color matching tool to apply the adjustments to the whole video?
    Thanks for the help
    Regards.

    Thanks for the quick reply
I don’t think I explained myself very well.
I want the video to match the Photo. Not to apply adjustments to the video and photos at the same time.
The Photos (raw) and video were taken at the same time with the same camera.
I have worked on the photos in adobe camera raw and saved them as tiffs.
Now I have opened up the video and tiffs in Photoshop and would like to match the new colors from the tiffs to the Video file.
When I use the match color tool, the Video and Tiff are the same color.
However Photoshop only matches the 1st frame of the video, the rest of the video is left in the original color.
My question is, how can I get the Match color tool to apply the color setting to the whole video?
So that the whole video is the same color as the Tiffs, not just the 1st frame.
    Regards.

  • Display and print color matching

Hi all. I need help because I'm coming crazy.
I use Lightroom 5 to organize, edit, print and share my photos. I use an iMac 27" with Maverick installed, I calibrate the display using X-Rite color munki Display. I have a Canon 9500 Mark II printer and I like printing on Canon Fine Art Photo Premium Matte (FA-PM1), I also have a little Epson Stylus Photo P50.
Here we are…I want Lightroom to manage the color when I print and I select the right Icc profile for the printer and the paper but when I print with the Canon printer the prints came out with incorrect colors; last attempt the print came out too magenta. How can I make sure the printer is not managing the color in the printer dialog box? There is nothing that say "none" or "no color management". I'm getting better results with the little Epson printer rather then the more expensive Canon printer.
    Anybody can help me?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Color difference between PNG and JPG in Save For Web

I am working on a website and I while building images for the site I am using a mix of png and jpg images. When I "Save for Web" the same source image creates two different color images when I save them as either png or jpg. How do I make sure the images are saving with identical colors in both png and jpg. Thanks

    >My working space is Adobe RGB but I'm not opening the sRGB PNG into Adobe RGB. I am choosing "Leave as is (don't color manage)" this should preserve the PNG's RGB numbers.
are you certain it is not being converted when you open it?
The numbers you quoted are the numbers I get if I open an untagged sRGB image into Adobe RGB (assuming Adobe RGB), and then convert to sRGB.
If I open my sRGB images, either PNG or JPEG, into sRGB, they always match. I've been working on a web site for the past 3 weeks, doing this regularly.
If you are working in Adobe RGB with sRGB images that are not tagged, you add a level of complexity that requires you make the right decision at every step. You need to open them without conversion, then assign sRGB, to keep working.
Or just open the images in Firefox 2, which cannot color manage, and see if the sRGB jpeg and the sRGB PNG match. This is the acid test.

  • I would like to change the colour of bars in a chart without losing the underlying default texture associated with my chosen theme. None of the 3D textured fills offered in "Chart Colors" match the textured fill of the theme. Any suggestions?

I would like to change the colour of bars in a chart without losing the underlying default texture associated with my chosen theme. None of the 3D textured fills offered in "Chart Colors" match the textured fill of the theme. Any suggestions?

Thanks Gary, but no, that does not work. First of all, I can't select each bar individually. When I click on one bar, all three bars are selected.
When I use "inspector > graphic" I have 5 fill options: none, color, gradient, image, tinted image. The default selection for the theme I'm using is image. What I would like to use for my charts is the same image that this theme uses for table headers. It has the same texture as the chart, but a different colour. Using anything but image or tinted image removes the texture from the fill.
I have found I can do one of two things. I can select tinted image from the fill selections in "inspector > graphic" or I can select 2D Image Fills from "inspector > chart > chart colors". The first choice does not allow me to match the table header colour because it only allows me to apply a tint to the existing colour and adjust its opacity. The existing colour has too much influence on the fill, so I can't find an RGB adjustment that will match the table header colour. The image selections from "inspector > chart > chart colors" do not quite match the colour or the texture. Again, I can try to tint the image, but I still can't get it to match and the texture is not the same anyway.
The image I want to use obviously exists in the software as it is an attribute of the theme, but for some reason is inaccessible. The other angle I have tried is to edit the theme, but I can't figure out how to do that either.

  • LR3 Print Module: printing to profile - unable to change Color Matching

    Hi
I use LR3 in 32 bit mode (there is no 64bit driver for HP DesignJet 130n).
I always print to profiles. In LR2 I had to make sure that in the PrintSettings the option Color Matching was set to "Vendor Machine", because although I saved this setting, LR never remembered.
Now with LR3 the option is again set to"Color Sync" but this time it cannot be changed.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks
    Bruno

    Bob,
My problem is exactly what you say: you must find the appropriate place in the printer interface where you can disable all color management performed by the printer driver.
In OS X (10.5.) I know only of two places where I can handle Color Management: "Print Settings" and "Profile" in the LR3 Print Module.
By default LR3 sets the Print Settings "Color Matching" to "Vendor Machine" if I choose "Managed by the Printer" for the Profile.
By default LR3 sets the Print Settings "Color Matching" to "ColorSync" if I choose a custom printer/paper profile.
Where/what is "the appropriate place in the printer interface where you can disable all color management performed by the printer driver" ?

  • RGB Color management between Illustrator and Photoshop

    Hi,
I have a color management issue when exporting JPGs from Illustrator and opening them in Photoshop:
In Illustrator (file is in RGB mode), I have a logo which has the color RGB 0/0/153 and I export a JPG. When I open the file in Photoshop, the color is RGB 1/0154.
I have activated Adobe CC Color Manegement via Adobe Bridge (option "Europe, Universal 3"), which should produce consistent results in all Adobe applications.
So which is the color that is actually in the file? And what do I have to do to get the color I want (0/0/153) actually exported from Illustrator? I need this color to comply with corporate design specifications of my client.
Since I have to produce a lot of files it is not possible to readjust all colors in Photoshop ...
    Thank you!
    Michael

First, check to make sure that the RGB working colorspace is the same for both Illustrator and Photoshop.
When exporting the jpeg from Illustrator make sure the 'embed' color profile is selected, and it is the color profile that is required for your client. If this is for web use, then sRGB is your best choice.
When you open the exported image in Photoshop, make sure that the color settings for Photoshop are set to 'Preserve Embedded Profiles'. After you open the image in Photoshop, you can double check by going to Edit > Convert to Profile... The source profile should match the embedded exported profile from Illustrator. If these match, your RGB color values from Illustrator and Photoshop should also match.
If the source profile does not match, cancel out of the 'Convert to Profile" and go to 'Assign Profile". Assign the profile that you embedded when exporting from Illustrator. Now Photoshop should have the same values as Illustrator.
