Color Munki and Photosmart C510a

Hello,
I do not know how to set my new Photosmart C510a with the Color Munki color management results.
I have made sure the setting are for Photoshop CS5 to control the printing.  I think I entered the correct info on the printer but have found that they revert back to the original settings, the setting do not seem to "stick" at the printer.
Would appreciate very specific steps on how to change the color management in the printer to what Color Munki has given me.
Thanks in advance
Bert

ok...read some more on the forum. Finally fix the problem by doing a factory reset and installing again. All is fine again....wireless connected!

  • CS4 extended. Capture One vs Photoshop . How can I be sure that photoshop use my Display icc  Color Munki Color Profile?

CS4 extended, OS10.7.5 . When I process an image in Capture One Pro  and then open it in Photoshop CS4 extended and compare to my original image in Capture I can see a big difference . ( Darker in C1 and flat in CS4)     I contacted Phase One and they said that the problem was probably due to photoshop who do not recognise my  Color Munki Display icc profile . How can I be sure that photoshop use my Display icc Color Munki Profile? Thanks !!!

    Hello Station_two,
    Thanks for you response.
Yes . that's what I did as I created an icc profile with Color Munki .
My problem is  when you look at the left image   ( Capture One )  and  the same images processed  and open in Photoshop ( Right image ) I can see a big contrast difference ...
Now, let's assume that photoshop work automatically with my icc Color Munki  in display panel , why the image in  Capture One do not look the same ?  Is it a question of setup in C1 ? In c1 ICC /Process recipe  I have Adobe rgb (1998)  selected....
    Thanks!

  • Messed up color display and resolution because of mini-DVI to video adapter

Once I connected the mini-DVI to video adapter to the tv and got weird colors on my screen for a while but then it worked out, then after a while I disconnected the cable and turned my computer off. After that, everytime I turned my macbook on, the color is fine for two seconds and then it turns into a weird offset color, really bright colors, kinda sketchy and just a few colors, and a weird resolution and display obviously, but then I just connect my Mini-DVI to video adapter and disconnect it again (quickly) and the color returns to normal. How can I make the normal colors stay and not have to connect the mini-DVI to video adapater everytime I want to see the normal color display and resolution??
    please help!

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on Seeing, turn off the White on Black, VoiceOver, and Zoom options, and drag the Contrast slider all the way to the left. If the issue persists, create a new folder on the desktop, drag half of the items from the Library/Preferences/ folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon into it, and narrow down the files until you've isolated the one responsible.

  • Where are the scanner mode (color, black and white) saved on a windows 7 machine?

We have 30+ Canon 2580c scanners and the users are constantly changing to color scanning and forgetting to change it back to black and white.
I'm trying to figure out where these settings are saved.  I have compared full registry dumps before and after changing the mode but do not see any differences that look scanner related.  There is a file setscan.ini the appdata/roaming/isis drivers folder that gets the date modified updated each time but nothing is changed in the file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi mswalter2012.
I will be glad to assist you.  When using the CapturePerfect program, I recommend using the [Scan Job] setting.  There are two jobs already registered in the program.. You can select [Color Document], which is 24-bit color as Simplex 300 dpi, or [Binary Document], which is black and white as Simplex 200 dpi.  To create a new job, please follow the instructions below:
    1.  Select [Create/Delete Job] in the scan menu.
    2.  Select a number to register a job, and then click [Create/Edit].
    3.  Enter a title for the job.
    4.  Click the drop-down for [Function] and select where you want the scan to be sent.
    5.  Click [Detail Settings].
    6.  Click the [OK] or [Save] button to close the settings.
    7.  Click [OK] to close the [Create/Edit] window.
To scan using the saved scanned job, select [Scan Job] from the CapturePerfect file menu.
I hope this information is helpful.  Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

I have Mac OS X Version 10.7.3 Software and did the Check for Software Update already...an HP update downloaded about a week ago but still no color

That is quite possible seeing that official drivers have not yet been released yet for Yosemite 10.10

  • I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • What is the purpose of the chain (lock symbol) between a solid color layer and its vector mask?

What is the purpose of the chain (lock symbol) between a solid color layer and its vector mask in the layer panel when creating shape layers with a shape tool? I'm just curious when locking or unlocking the solid color layer and its vector mask can make a difference.

I don't understand what you said and your shape layer looks different then mine using CS5.
When the chain is deselected, I can't do anything with the move tool on the shape layer. This is the only difference I can find. Making the solid color uniform or not doesn't change anything.
Your example shows that you moved the position of the solid color, how did you do that? I can create a solid color layer and change its uniform look by applying an effect like gradient but I can't move the solid color itself around. How is this possible?

    Hi ladwwd56,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Is it possible that you may have an Accessibility feature called "White on Black" turned on?
See page 244 of the iPhone User Guide PDF:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1539/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.p df
    White on Black
Use White on Black to invert the colors on the iPhone screen, which may make it easier to read the screen. When White on Black is turned on, the screen looks like a photographic negative.
Invert the screen’s colors: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility and tap the “White on Black” switch.
If that is not the case, try restarting / resetting the iPhone:

  • MacMini DVI colored static and KVM's

    Hi
I manage 50 odd Mac's at work and have a new 09 MacMini. I have it connected via the Mini-DVI to DVI connector to a Rextron DAG12 DVI-I / USB KVM switch. I have been using the KVM for a year or 2 with a PowerMac G4 machine with no problems. When I connect the MacMini all I get is multicoloured static / a snowstorm (as described elsewhere) for about 3 seconds, then I see the actual screen for about 1 second and this repeats over and over making it unusable. I tried various resolutions / refresh rates and it made no difference. If I unplug and re-plug the DVI adaptor about 5 times it eventually stops doing this and I just get the screen as it should be. I then used it all day, switching between my mac and PC and left it on over the weekend and it was fine on Monday.
I discovered restarting the machine brings me back to the static mess (after the grey apple screens). As does opening iTunes or Quicktime. It appears to be related to video rendering. I also tested it on a new MacBook with the 9400 Nvidia chipset and get the static. I tried another 09 Mini and same problem. Tried another Mini-DVI adaptor and same problem. Tried both DVI-I and DVI-D cables from the switch to Mac.
I tried an older MacBook with the Intel X3100(?) chipset with the same DVI adaptor and it works fine. As did an old 1.83Ghz Intel based graphics MacMini.
Using the screen without the KVM seems to work OK but is no use to me. The fact that I can get it working for days as long as I dont restart or open iTunes / Quicktime seems to suggest it's something driver / software related to the Nvidia 9400 chipset on the Mac. Any ideas / thoughts? HDCP? I will try and get a mini-displayport to dvi connector to test that.

    Matt,
It's been quite a while since I had this problem, so I was looking for my notes on fixing it. No luck there.
The bottom line is that the "native" refresh rate on your KVM is far enough out of specs for your monitor that it's affecting the display. When you plug directly into the mini, the display automatically senses the correct refresh rate and looks fine.
It's a hack, but here's what I did (after giving up on manually modifying the settings in Terminal and failing miserably):
    1. Plugged the display directly into the mini and created a "calibrated" color profile for it in both user and admin accounts.
    2. Connected the KVM and booted in safe mode, selected the "calibrated" color profile with appropriate resolution in all profiles.
2b. Made sure I unchecked the +Show profiles for this display only+ box in the Display > Colors tab for all users.
    3. Plugged in the KVM and restarted in safe mode, doing 1 & 2 above.
    4. Restarted and manually set the color profile and resolution.
It can take a few tries to get the settings to "stick."

  • Using Color profiles and exporting for web browsers

I've been trying to figure out the answer to this question. As I'm sure you're aware Safari supports color profiles while other web browsers like Firefox do not. I would like to setup Aperture so that it displays and exports images for the widest audience possible. Unfortunately it embeds a color profile and my images on the web only display correctly in Safari. I've tried changing the proofing profiles and export settings to no avail. I didn't seem to have this problem in iPhoto, a picture there looked the same on screen as it did in Safari and Firefox but I can't achieve the same with Aperture...

Thanks for that information, unfortunately I'm not really any closer to solving the issue since I've already tried that. 1) by default, doesn't Aperture automatically embed the sRGB color profile? 2) if I set view>proofing mode to sRGB shouldn't what I see on screen match what a "dumb" application such as Firefox does when it ignores the embedded profile and display sRGB? I've tried going into the preferences>export settings and changed everything to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but I see no difference in the final image between that and the default setting.
I guess my question is more specific to Aperture since I don't have this problem with other applications. For example, in photoshop if I do Export for Web it strips out any embedded profile and when I open that image in Firefox and Safari side-by-side they are exactly the same. But not so when I export an image from Aperture, when opened in Firefox it is desaturated and flat and of course in Safari it honors the embedded profile and looks fine.

  • EPDF files failing to read on ADE reading software when they have Sidebar color graphics and text, how do we fix problem?

We have 2 different InDesign files not reading properly in ADE reader. Both files have sidebar color graphics and text in them. The one original file's EPDF was showing blank pages for all the page with the sidebars in it when opened in ADE (they are DRM wrapped). Pages that did not have the sidebar showed up fine. Our ebook distributor is telling us that we have to rasterize the file. We are working in InDesign 6 with Adobe Acrobat X Pro. We made JPEGS of each page and reimported into an InDesign file and exported to PDF and our ADE reader then showed the sidebar pages. The file is pretty large though and I have a full length book that has the same problem. What is the problem with our sidebars and what are better solutions than JPEGS for each page? Thanks.

I will give that a try, thank you.

  • How to control Color Mode and Resolution for brochure creation?

    Hello guys,
I am trying to find some settings within Pages, where I could set CMYK color mode and 300 dpi resolution for my pdf file.
I am creating brochure from scratch, using blank document, because non of brochure templates work for what I need. But I can't find any controls for color mode and resolution set up.
Is there any solution for this?

There has been a lot of discussion in the Pages forum about resolution and some on CMYK.
Much of the discussion has been incorrect.
For the colour handling there is the colour palette
The Apple Colour Palette is the user interface for colour managing vector objects created in Apple Pages such as rules and panels and for colour managing one class of vector objects not created in Apple Pages, namely typographic objects.
Imported objects maintain their colourant model and colour space, if there is one. If there is none, a colour space is assigned and the assigned colour space is saved out into the PDF, opposite e.g. Adobe Photoshop which will colour manage the object in the open editing session, but will then save out the object to disk without the assigned ICC profile if 'Colour Management: Off' is configured.
Therefore, if the imported object is data space CMYK and the colour space device CMYK, the system will assign the Generic CMYK Profile which is equivalent to ANSI CGATS TR001 colourimetry (US SWOP); if the imported object is data space RGB and the colour space is device RGB, the system will assign the Generic RGB Profile which is equivalent to sRGB colourimetry in OS X 10.5 and higher.
In general, always capture and then convert for correction in one of two data spaces with three channels, either ICC colour managed RGB or ICC CIELa*b D50. Then convert to CMYK1, CMYK2, CMYK3, CMYKn from the ICC colour space chosen for correction and archiving. This colour space should be large enough to hold any colours that the output colour spaces can hold.
The Apple ColorSync Utility has a gamut comparison dialogue which is 3D (point, press, and turn the 3D gamut comparison). Use this facility to pick an ICC colour space of reasonable size and shape for correction and conversion into final output. Don't pick sRGB as a quick look will show that it can't hold as input what ISO reference offset can hold as output for pure cyan, let alone hold what a big inkjet can hold in greens, blues, reds and yellows.
The ICC architecture lets the ICC profile for the printed output match out of gamut colours to in gamut colours using the Perceptual rendering intent, as intended in the original architecture from 1995. Adobe internally introduced an inhouse conversion for compatibility with PostScript and as default for PDF, Relative Colorimetric with Adobe Black Point Compension. Relative Colorimetric is in fact a proofing transform, without gamut mapping. Black Point Compensation is a simple linear scaling of the lightness to compensate for the fact that the shadows will be clipped in a Relative Colorimetric conversion.
The other problem is transparency, introduced in the QuickDraw Graphics Extension for Mac OS 7.5. Transparency is not supported in any version of Adobe PostScript (level 1, level 2 or level 3). Transparency is also not supported in any version of Adobe PDF prior to version 1.4 and higher. Therefore, unless the RIP Raster Image Processor is able to accept PDF 1.4 and higher, transparency has to be rendered / flattened which is done in the PDF/X-3 filter of the Apple ColorSync Utility.
The idea in the PDF/X-3 filter (for Adobe PDF 1.3) is that the everyday enduser, after placing ICC colour managed RGB or CIE La*b D50 objects, and after choosing an ICC colour space for objects created in Pages, chooses the ICC colour space for the output condition. The filter accepts both ICC profiles of type MNTR Monitor with data space RGB, ICC profiles of type PRTR Printer with data space RGB, and ICC profiles of type PRTR Printer with data sapce CMYK.
The colourant conversion (RGB to CMYK) and the gamut mapping (out of gamut colours in input colour spaces mapped to in gamut colours in output colour space) is then calculated as per the ICC profile for the output condition. An output condition is the combination of factors that affect how colour is formed: the colour lightness and colour tint of the paper, the colours of the colourants, and the tone value increase. Think of gamut mapping in a good ICC profile as Format 1 kerning in a TrueType font (where your font has state-based kerning for up to 8 glyphs simultaneously).
Below a link to a discussion of how to change the default PDF/X-3 filter the Apple ColorSync Utility. "Wegen diverser Fehler im Mac OS X empfiehlt es sich, wo immer möglich, die PDFs ohne Transparenzreduktion (also auf normalem Weg) über den Befehl Als PDF sichern zu erstellen und das Flattening der Druckerei zu überlassen," that is, pick the plain save as PDF path and leave the transparency flattening to the prepress technician.
