Color of Iphotos too vivid/intense

I have gone from an IBook to an older (2006) Macbook Pro. The colors that photos in both IP^ and IP( display are much too vivid in the MacBook Pro. Does anyone have any idea why? The settings are all default in "Display" and Color Sync. Thanks.

I have multiple problems; but I may have the same video problem. My video goes sour. When I'm booting up the video is normal (looks good); but right after the menus appear it goes to ****. It looks like a photo that's seriously underexposed. very high contrast; many pure black pixels in what should be gradient at dark end. harsh. lighter pixels such as lines in finder windows and text blanch out. very light sepia color. gradient at low end disappears. uniform light sepia. like you I tried dinking w/ color profile, recalibrated; no help. start point was maxed out contrast. no place to go. 2 twists: 1) I had this exact problem with my previous 12" Powerbook. after hassling with it for years I finally changed a setting in the desktop/screen saver preferences and it disappeared. but it was the exact same problem. different processor. different system. 2) I had been living with this for some time up till now because I discovered that if I unplugged/replugged the external DVI cable the condition would go away. but recently a problem I had had to send the Pro in for repair because it stopped booting up. rotating ball just kept going; then it would shut down and restart; kept cycling line that. this starting happening again & I thought is was cooked. tried booting with startup disk and got machine back. reverted my from 10.5.6 to 10.5. Upgraded w/ purchased 10.5.5 disk. machine has been acting strangly since recycling recurred. since re-installation can't fix video when it goes sour on startup.

  • Can't print in color from iPhoto

When I try to print a photo from iPhoto, using my color printer, I get a black & white print (not even greyscale). I can print in color from other applications, just not from iPhoto (but I think I used to print in color from iPhoto). Any clues out there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. Next, remove the printer from the Print and Fax preference pane and reinstall. Also, depending on your printer brand, check the Apple Downloads page for the new printer drivers offered by Apple. Those might help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Colors problems - Iphoto to tv

I have a problem with colors in Iphoto when I plug my macbook 13" 08 in my tv. I use a mini-dvi to dvi, and dvi to hdmi to plug my macbook in to my 47" plasma hd tv (it's a Toshiba).
Everything look very great on my tv, but when I play slideshows, or presentation from Iphoto, all the colors goes bad. A lot of red and yellow. It's the same thing in front row. When I do exactly the same thing on my macbook, everything look very great.
    Thanks

    arturo_reina.....
Have you managed to sort your problem out yet?
I got an iMac late 2009 Model with the Mini Displayport on the back,
I upgraded to Lion when it was released...
got the Mini Displayport to HDML Adapter, got the HDMI Cable,
plugged everything in, the TV knows the HDMI Cable it in but shows No Signal,
and even though the iMac flashes the Blue Screen a few times, it still doesn't pick up the TV
    :-/ very confusing.

Other than a couple of minor adjustments, such as the one that Diavonex suggested above, there is nothing that a user can do in settings to adjust color. There is no way to calibrate the color like you can do with a computer monitor.

  • Dithered Colors in iPhoto 6 on iMac 20" Intel Core Duo with 1.5GB RAM

    Hi.
I have a 20" iMac Intel Core Duo. Shoot at 100 ISO, sRGB, with a Canon Digital Rebel XT in a studio setting. When viewing the images in iPhoto they have a noticeable dithering on the colors, especially on the seamless. Sometimes it's bad.
If I view them full screen in Comparison mode I see it there, too. Detail is intact, but the colors dither. Doesn't happen in Photoshop CS2, and I don't remember if it happens in Preview...
Any ideas of what is going on?

    Scott:
Are you running the latest Quicktime version, 7.1.5? If not that may have something to do with it. Also what color profile are the files assigned? You can check that out by viewing them with Preview and using the Summary pane of the Info window there. Are you shoot RAW and importing those files? If so there may be addition issues that I can't help you with although as I understand it iPhoto creates a jpg file from the RAW file upon import and that's what you're working with.
Make sure your monitor is set to millions. Although since CS2 doesn't show that effect I'm guessing it is set to that. But check anyway.
    Do you Twango?

  • Imports from iPhoto too dark in iMovie'11

I upgraded to iLife'11 in September'11 (in preparation for switching to Lion), but until now I have not used iMovie.
Today, I tried iMovie'11. But all the imported movies and photos from iPhoto were too dark and contrasty - in particular in an existing project.
When the movies are run from iPhoto or the QuickTime Player they look perfect. I Googled this issue without finding an answer - so I was about to to post this as a question.
However, I tried using another user account and the issue disappeared. Initially I thought this might be something to do with preferences under my normal user account so I deleted a number of user .plist files for iMovie but this did not fix the issue.
Then I suspected some ColorSync issue, so I checked the System Preferences.../Displays/Color. For my normal user color was set to a modified profile: Color LCD Calibrated, whereas for the other user it was set to the default profile my MacBook: Color LCD. I reset the  System Preferences.../Displays/Color to Color LCD, Quit and restarted iMovie and the issue disappeared. If the display profile is not set to the default 'Color LCD' when iMovie is launched and the iPhoto videos are imported, the issue occurs. Once the iPhoto vidoes are in the iMovie Event library, changing the display profile has not effect.
It seems therefore that for some (weird?) reason iMovie'11 uses the display colorsync profile when importing the iPhoto videos.

My color profile choices are color smart (the default), grayscale, or Adobe sRGB.  My other option is just not click on Iphoto in the print window and then I have no choice.  The color smart comes out a few shades darker than the screen shows.  Just allowing the Iphoto defaults and not changing the settings is lighter.  I just want the print to come out like what I am seeing in the Iphoto viewer.  I edit it and it looks perfect, but it prints out different most of the time.  When I print out a picture from preview (that I have downloaded from source other than my camera) the picture prints out just like the preview shows it, but I don't know how to edit those pictures.  Thanks.

  • Printed images...sRGB vs. iMac color profile / iPhoto vs. PSE...

Hello – I have searched the various forums available, found a wealth of information on the subject, and then became even more confused. So, here goes:
The question is in regards to color profiles on my display vs. color profiles embedded in the printed image.
I have my display set to iMac Color Profile (or should I use the sRGB Profile, which gives the display a coolor, or more bluish overall tint), and then in PSE I have sRGB embedded. When I make a print going through PSE, the colors look good and overall is a pleasant image. When I take the same image and save it into iPhoto and then print it, the overall image is slightly darker and the colors a little more saturated. Overall, another pleasant image, just slightly different.
So, I suppose my question is: what is iPhoto doing that makes the printed image a bit more saturated? How should I have my colors on the display set?
    Thanks.

sRGB is Adobe's default RGB color space. It is the standard for world wide web. It is used by Pantone. In short it is the RGB profile most commonly encountered
I will re-iterate it's not my working RGB space, I don't care for it, I don't consider it ideal for CMYK conversion.
The idea that sRGB is the most common profile is a misconception. That profile was created to simulate an uncalibrated enviroment (monitor).Thats why if you use Photoshop function "Save for Web" it converts to sRGB then strips profile information. And this is only because until recently most web browsers didnt have any Color Management.I know Firefox has but the others until recently didnt (might be diferent know thought).
If its used by Pantone or not I dont know, but if it is I would like to know why and for what purpose cause it doesnt make any sense...
Its not ideal for any print (CMYK convertion) since it's very narrow gamut will most probably clip many satured colors.
The only good thing about it (besides being a grey balanced profile) is that you can be sure the person you send it too will not see many variations (shifts) in color from what youre seing on your calibrated monitor using Photoshop or any other ICC aware aplication.Thats why I always send previews of work in sRGB, because most of the time people that have to evaluate it dont even bother to open them in Photoshop, they use e-mail programs or browsers, let alone calibrated/profiled monitors.
I think the idea behind making it default is just that, being on the safe side.People that are aware of that ussually change it unless theyre working mainly for the Web.
This and much more you can find on the links about Bruce Fraser. He made great contributions to make people aware of Color Management.
    Hope this helps.

  • Multiline string color property is too slow, why is console so much quicker?

I have a *vi that I am trying to use to format a multi-line string indicator with colors.  The idea is that the data represents network traffic and must be formatted as shown in columns.  I realize that there is an upper limit on the horizontal size of the string control of around 2000 characters.  The standard console can be 9999 character wide.  Second issue is that when I use a property node the iterations take forever to process since I am not able to concurrently apply the formatting to the string as I right them to the string window.  I realize that I am using white space as filler and that this is causing a delay but in general this is taking way too long to format.  Is there anyway to speed this up and go more than 2000 characters wide?  If not is there a simple way to invoke the windows console in Labview and use the format parameter show in the attached *.cpp file?
I have attached the vi along with a sample Dev C++ project showing how fast the console is in comparison when apply colors to large amounts of text data.

Ouch! This looks like a literal translation of text code whcih is not al all optimized for dataflow. All these local variables cause extra data copies. Your code constantly needs to switch to the UI thread.
    Two ideas:
Defer panel updates while doing all the coloring.
Use shift registers instead of local variables.
Why is your 3D picture set to scale with the panel? How big is your monitor?

  • How to change background color in iPhoto app?

Hi, I have spend 20 hours creating a large iPhoto Book on the IPad2 iPhoto app. I want to cahnge the background colour of everypage from white to black. Can this be done, and if so, how?  Thank you.

I don't know much about iPhoto at all, but after a very brief look, it appears as though if you tap on the icon in the upper right part of the screen that looks like a page with the upper right corner turned down, the resulting window has a Background option with an arrow next to it. Tap the arrow and select black as the color in the next window.

  • Change colors of individual pixels on intensity graph?

I would like to be able to change the color of a set of individual pixels within an intensity graph, to blue for example, while leaving the color table otherwise as is, for example, gray scale.  The change to blue would be based on location, not on current gray value.  I think I can accomplish this using the mask fx with picture controls, and then convert to intensity graph.  Is there a more direct way?  A good example to demonstrate this capability would be just using a 'mouse down' event on an intensity graph to change the color at the mouse location.  Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Don

Yes, seems to work fine .
If you have LabVIEW 8.0, there is another possibility. There is a new property that allows drawing any pictures or picture elements on your graph area. Of course you could draw individual pixels, but nothing prevents you from e.g. drawing circles, squares, odd shaped areas, arrows or event text. ... Anything you could do with a plain picture indicator. One example that ships with LabVIEW 8.0 is Envelope.vi, see image.

  • IPhoto too dark, Preview & Mail OK

Recently all my photos appear too dark when I 'magnify' them (double-click) or try to edit them in iPhoto '08. However, when I export them from iPhoto and open them in Preview or send them to Mail with iPhoto they appear fine. (The iPhoto thumbnails also appear fine even when I use the slider to enlarge them in iPhoto.)
    Thanks for your suggestions.

Try this simple fix: trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
