Color of Send Slots?

I noticed that the color of send slots is supposed to change to green or orange if pre-fade or post-pan options are chosen. They don't, on my system.
Are they working for you?

As someone else mentioned, the colour behaviour was changed and is detailed in the late breaking news document.
In short, pre sends are green, post sends are blue. The pan ring colour indicates the pan send pre/post option, between blue and green.
The orange colour is reserved for plugins/sends disabled in low-latency mode.

Color grading send back to FCP

In Color, after I've graded my shots and send them back to final cut - they appear more saturated and 'muckier' than ever in the canvas window and nothing like as clean or as sharp as in color after I've graded them. Any ideas?

Actually when I view the clip that was in the canvas in the editor - I think it looks alright (I don't have a production monitor - I'm working solely from a 27' Apple Imac. Is it just the way it appears in the color window as opposed to the editor/canvas. In the editor it still looks slightly soft but maybe I'm seeing things and that's the way it's supposed to be. The canvas looks terrible though - am I supposed to do something to it?

Color wont send back to FCP- crashes

Really big problem here. Just finished a rather large grade project in color- about 6mins long, but many many cuts. Have rendered the clips in color, and am trying to send it back to FCP for the master.
Problem is- color keeps crashing. Soon as i hit "send to FCP" color quits.
In need of some urgent help!

Only one way to do this -
Re install Color 1.0 (I got a second internal drive and did a system FCP 2.0 installon to it - then I copied the color 1.0 ap to a separate directory on my main drive so I had both 1.0 and 1.01 on there)
Open the graded rendered project in 1.0 and try send to FCP - it should work - Apple broke this in the upgrade and seem to be too busy with I phones and Leopards to fix it.

Color not sending transitions and filters back to FCP 7

Hey People!
I'm currently editing a 30 minute doc for broadcast in Final Cut Pro 7. Before sending to color, I duplicated the master and made it into two 15 minute halves.
I left all transitions and effects intact, which I usually do. I only use cross dissolves. All video is on Track 1.
After correcting the first half I sent it back to FCP without an issue. Transitions and filters remained.
When I finished up with the second half and sent it back to FCP - there were no transitions or filters.
I've tried re-conforming and re-rendering but with no luck.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First off, there's no need to break it up into two sections. Color in FCP 7 handles 30 min sequences just fine. I've done 48 min ones fine.
So you exported an XML from FCP 7, and imported that into Color to reconform, and send back, and it didn't help? What codec are you sending to Color...?

Color Crashing sending back to Final Cut

Well that's pretty much it. I have tried to export an XML. It still does the same thing. Any one else haveing this problem

I don't have an exact answer but an approach for you to troubleshoot...
The first thing to try: From FCP "Send to Color". Save. Then immediately round-trip and "Send to FCP". If Color is crashing during export or during the Send To operation, there's a timeline problem. Assuming you've gone through the latest release notes and have cleaned up your timeline from known issues - you can then try to break your show in half, send each half independently and see if one of them is able to make the immediate roundtrip. And keep halving until you've isolated the issue in the timeline that's giving you a problem.
If the immediate round-trip does work, then it's likely not a timeline problem but a project problem. You can try to create a new project, import the grades from the previous project, then render and Send to FCP.
Also, see how many edits are in your timeline. Color seems to choke sometime in the 800-1200 edit mark.
Finally, Color seems optimized for particular codecs. I'd seriously consider getting out of DVCPro HD and using the ProResHD codec. So many people have been complaining about roundtrip problems with DVCPro HD I'm starting to think it's best to avoid it when CCing in Color... but that's just a hunch.

Color not sending back all the video lines.

I am working on a color project that is pretty in depth. I finished rendering all the clips but when I send it back to final cut it only send v2 and v3. V1 just comes back unrendered and uncorrected. I hope I am clear enough. any help would be great.

On the COLOR timeline, what is the range of clip numbers on V1?
What is the range of clip numbers on V2/V3?
Can you search for .movs that correspond to these clip ranges, specifically, media with names like 1_g1.mov, etc. If the media is being rendered, you will find it this way, and lets go from there.

Apply color in send mail body part

Hi SAP Gurs,
I am creating program for sending mail to user.. in that mail i so many header and line item are there, i want to apply color or bold, italic format in body part.... so its look like seprate in body part
So is there any possibilty to apply color or bold words in mail body part?

You can use the HTML text in the Message body part to get the Colors, Bold, Italics like effect in the mail.

Why when sending a text the backgrounds are either green or blue for different contacts?

Green = SMS (non-iPhones)
Blue = iMessage (iPhones, iPads, iPod Touch, Macs)

Color not sending clip to queue?

I have a single clip from FCP edited in Color. I have saved all the Primary and Secondary adjustments and saved the Grade 1. Now I need to Render but when I select the clip and tell it to Add Selected or Add All it won't add the clip. Any help? I can't find any information out anywhere else. Though I assume it's something simple.

Crap, now that I am awake and re-read your post. Ignore what I said. Sorry.
Only thing I can think of is, try a different clip, but, repeat the same steps for the clip that can't be added to the queue and see if it works then.

Send to fcp from color, problem...

Hi,
I'm just new to the software and have a problem.
I open dpx files in apple color and send the sequence to final cut pro, everything is ok but the sequence is always brighter than the original one, so when I try to combine the two images (the original video and the sequence that comes from apple color) they don't match brightness-wise...
Apple Color automatically changes some values of the dpx files, but I don't know how to prevent it.
I'd appriciate if you could help

Sending footage from Color to Final Cut problem

Hello guys,
I am shooting 7D video so I transcode everything to Apple Prores (progressive).
Then.. I edit in FCP and send it to Color. When I finish coloring I send to FCP again, and then I export my timeline to a quicktime video. MY HUGE problem is that whenever I color correct my footage in Color..using the workflow I just described, the final quicktime file becomes interlaced!!!! If I avoid doing color correction in Color I dont get this problem.

Could you 2x your sequence settings in FCP? Make sure it's a prores progressive at the start of this process.
Also, you're just exporting a QT 'full' (or reference) - not a QT conversion, right?

Sony HDR-HC3 to FCP to Color to FCP to Mac Mini

Hi,
My objective is to play our edited family videos using our Mac Mini(2.0 GHz Core 2) on a Sony 52" LCD at full 1080 resolution. The video is stored on a Firewire attached 1 TB LaCie external disk.
I use a Sony HDR-HC3 video camera (HDV 1440x1080i 25 fps) and use FCP 6.0.4 for editing. I have recently been learning Color for grading.
1. Currently reading footage into FCP as ProRes 422. Footage comes in with the following profile:
Sequence Preset: Apple ProRes 422 1440x1080 50i 58 kHz
Capture Preset: HDV-Apple ProRes 422
Current captured footage I'm working with has a data rate of 12.5 MB
2. Once editing is complete, I "Send To" Color and perform the grading
3. From Color, I "Send to FCP". (It asks "Change graded FCP seq. to match the QT export codec?" not sure whether I click Yes or No here)
4. After selecting Yes, the footage returned back to a new sequence in FCP now has the following profile:
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
1920x1080
21.6 MB/sec
From reading the Apple documentation, I was expecting something funny to happen coming back from Color.
5. I then send this sequence to Compressor where I select the "Apple | Formats | Quicktime | H.264" preset in the hope that I can render out an H.264 1920x1080 file to play on the Mac Mini. It renders it but the Mini can't play the video smoothly.
As I am still learning, I would appreciate any suggestions on an alternative workflow that can lead me to a 1080 video file that can play smoothly on the Mac Mini.
The Apple TV preset renders a video that works smoothly on the Mini, but I'm hoping for the full resolution.

Yes, I've tried to have the Log and Transfer recognize the card (through both the card reader and lately, by using the camera as a deck but without luck).The card reader and camera mount on my desktop as NO NAME and when I ADD VOLUME I scroll down to devices and click on NO NAME but L&T doesn't recogize the source and nothing happens. That's why I went in to see if the AVCHD folder might be recognized and got that invalid directory message. Following your tutorial I went into preferences button on the right hand upper corner of the L&T interface and selected the AVCHD - Apple Prores LT path in case that made a difference, but no go. Any other suggestions/thoughts?

Final Cut Studio 2(Color) and AGP graphics cards

So I have ordered FCS 2 for my business(Videography with HDV cameras).
I am on the 2.0 Ghz G5 with dual processors and a 23' Apple Cinema Display.
The computer came with the ATI 9600 Pro Radeon card.
All the technical requirements for Color are PCI slotted busses. So it looks like I am at a dead end if I wish to use Color??? (Some people said that the AGP x800XT might work ok, but this is not verified, and who knows what the performance would be anyway).
A new computer is the only practical solution?

How do I send a stereo signal to an AUX channel in Logic?

Hi Peeps,
I'm currently using Logic Studio 8 and I'm getting really annoyed with the fact that when I take a send 'post fader' from a stereo audio channel to a stereo AUX channel, the post fader signal seems to ignore any panning adjustments. Its like the send is only sending a mono image??? For instance, if I pan a synth track hard left I can still hear the wet reverb signal on my AUX track on the right, its annoying! I could always pan the AUX channel left, but obviously I would like to use that AUX channel for effecting numerous tracks, not all of which will be panned hard left!
I dont have this problem in pro-tools as you can choose to send the signal to a mono or stereo bus channel, but I cant find an option for this in Logic for love nor money!

Hi Orbz,
There are 3 Send modes in Logic:
• Pre Fader (original signal is sent before it reaches the channel strip's fader etc.
• Post Fader (sent before volume fader adjustments)
• Post Pan (send before volume fader and Pan/Balance adjustments).
Click and hold on the Send slot in your synth channel strip and select Post Pan fro the drop-down menu.

Color gradients not displaying correctly

I'm having an issue with my color gradients in type and objects not displaying correctly in the content viewer. For the last app I created, I made sure the colors were RGB and that seemed to fix it. With the current app I'm working on, that dosen't seem to fix the issue. Actually, when I test in the viewer on my iPad, it shows the correct gradient in the split second that it's loading the update but then once it's loaded, it goes to a gray white gradient (the correct gradient is from a yellow to a gray; attached a pict for referrence).
Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: It seems to view fine if I preview the page via the foilo overlay but when I preview the folio, that's when it's no viewing correctly.

The Color Picker is unreliable for choosing colors based on what you see because it is not color managed while Color panel and Swatches are.
In your image, the color that you see in the Color Picker is how your monitor displays R=0 G=255 B=0. The color that you see in the Color Panel represents the same values in the file but the color management sends different values to the video card and thus to the monitor to display a color with appearance in the color space selected for the document. In your image this is a CMYK color space which you can check from the Show popup menu at the bottom left of the document window. To check the different values the video card is using, make a screen capture, save the image, open it in Illustrator and measure the color with the eyedropper. The color translation from the values in the file to the video card allows simulation of color spaces other than your monitor's. This simulation is accurate if you have a monitor profile installed in your system that correctly describes how your monitor displays colors. Such profile is created by using a color measuring device and profiling software. If your monitor profile (color space) installed in the system is the same as the color space of the document then there will be no translation (simulation) which in effects shuts down the color management - then the colors in the Color Picker will be the same as in the document. Many people do not bother to get an accurate profile of their monitor and use a generic sRGB profile for that. In such case working in RGB color mode using the sRGB color space (default in the Color Settings) will give the same colors in the Color Picker and the document. This usually is a sign of using a monitor that incorrectly displays colors.
