Color off when uploaded

I shoot RAW and just purchased Lightroom 5. After editing a photo in Lightroom I will export it to Photoshop CC for more editing then save it as a jpg file. On the computer it looks good. When I email it, it looks good. But when I upload it to Shuttterfly to share or CostCo to print, the pictures look as if the saturation and exposure is turned way way down.

You should convert the color-profile to sRGB just before you save the photos as JPGs for upload to a website.
In Photoshop you do this via Edit / Convert to Profile… and then choose sRGB as the destination colorspace.
If you are saving directly from the ACR plug-in w/o going into PS, itself, then set the colorspace to sRGB on the Save As options in ACR.
Keep ACR’s workspace options set to ProPhotoRGB as well as Photoshop’s RGB workspace profile set to ProPhotoRGB.

  • Color shift when uploading

I have been trolling other sites to learn what might cause this.
I recently got a Huey device to callibrate my monitor. (I send out digital images of artwork and they need to be acurate color.)
After taking some images and loading them onto iPhoto, they seem to look very much like what I saw on the camera lcd screen. I can make subtle color and tone adjustments while capturing on the Panasonic Lumix camera. Usually, they are so close to what I want, all I do is crop in iPhoto.
But I am experiencing color shifts when I upload to make webpages so I can burn discs, or today when I uploaded to a local photo printer. They seem to move a bit towards more orange/pink tones, but when I drag them to the desk top, and open in Preview, they look identical to the iPhoto stored images.
I have read some ideas about RGB and there being bugs in iPhoto that alter your files even as you are loading them from the camera!
Does anyone know how I could fix this?
I can write scripts if it takes it. Thanks

    Nanci
The pics look correct in iPhoto and Preview, right?
But not on the Web or at your local printer?
iPhoto and Preview are both Color Managed - that is (along with Safari) they read and respect the color profile of the pic.
Do the apps your Printer is using, or that you are using to view online, respect the color profile?

  • Photoshop printing colors off when compared to HP printing software

Hello. my printer is an HP photosmart 6510- cq761a-b211a.  my os is both windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and Mac OS 10.8.4.
I have scanned .tifs of artwork i am trying to make prints of, i have tried on both computers, and here is the issue i am running into:
Whenever i use the HP software to print by right clicking and selecting print, the colors come out pretty close to where i want them, however, the hp software does not allow many options for centering or sizing prints. If i try to print a 4x6 on 8 1/2 x 11, it does not allow it to be centered or adjusted and it just prints it at the edge.
on the other hand, if i print through photoshop CS4 on the pc or CS6 on the mac, i can select the paper and size and choose all the options of exactly how i want it to print, and it prints correctly, however, the colors are off. they do not look accurate, ex. the reds look like generic red vs the depth of all the reds the hp software catches correctly.
i would love it if i could just use the hp software to print, if it just had more control over the images. it seems to print spot on. but it looks like ill have to use another program, i have tried going through all the photoshop settings and made sure they all match the printer, i have it set that the printer manages the colors and printing, the colormetric options, rgb,  and paper all match. i cannot figure out why there is such a huge difference when photoshop is open. ive printed about 35 test images and it isnt working right.
    any help is appreciated, thanks

You have to have a calibrated monitor and the image must look right to you on that monitor. Then you let Photoshop manage colors and select your printer profile just below that setting, also you must use Print Settings>Print Settings over to the left to make sure you match the paper type.
You will need to go to G Ballard's site to read up on color management and workflow, bec ause your question indicates you don't understand the concepts.

  • Color off when printing from iPhoto if photo was scanned in.

When I scan a photo to a file or into an application and try to print from iPhoto, the colors are off. Usually darker than they appear in the photo. If I do a direct print from the scanner to the printer the colors look normal (OK). Any idea if there is some type of adjustment for this?

What color profile do the pics have? Is the printer set to the same profile?

  • Color off when printing

I have been having issues with getting the color to print correctly with our Brother HL-4070CDW ever since we updated to Leopard. I have spent time on the phone with mac and brother and no one seems to be able to help.
When I print our logo from either preview, adobe reader, or Microsoft publisher (through Parallels), the colors are off. They are darker than they are supposed to be (using Brother color). They are lighter than they are supposed to be (using Color Sync).
I have reinstalled the new driver from the Leopard CD Rom.
I have callibrated, cleaned etc the printer. The test page looks fine.
I have tried to use different profiles under the Color Sync option.
I can print to our HP Photosmart C3180 and the colors are accurate.
The problem is with pdfs, ai (which opens in preview), and jpegs. At least this is where I have noticed it the most.
Please help! We are the point of considering buying another printer, but I'm not even convinced that the printer itself is the problem.

I am having the same color problem with my HL-4070CDW. The printer is not at fault, so don't buy another. The cause of the trouble is the driver. Even the latest driver e-mailed to me from Brother technical support does not resolve the color management issue.
Their new driver resolved a problem I was having whereby paper was not being pulled from the second (optional) tray. But the color problem remains to be fixed at a later date.
I cannot wait weeks, months, or longer for a perfect driver to be written and distributed. The improvements in Leopard are nice, but if I cannot have perfect color output like I once did, then the new OS is worthless to me. I am going to wipe the hard drive soon and go back to using Tiger.

  • SWF background color changes when uploaded to server

I built my Flash all pretty, based upon a black background.
When ran on the local copy, the black shows up as black & the
Flash is like it should be. However, as soon as I upload it to the
server and run it from there, the Flash background changes to
white, which as you can imagine, royally screws up the visuals. Any
clue as to why it would do this?! I can't think of any reason why
it should. The server is in-house and will only be used for an
Intranet page, so any possible corruption over the web should be
    negated. Help!!

I'd like to post a link, but like I said, it's only internal.
When I look at the HTML, it's set to black (background-color:
#000000). Also, when I load it, the page itself is black, but the
background of the Flash *only* has turned white. I can load the
exact same page on my local drive and it comes up black. I've got
publish settings to Flash 8 (my version) and AS 2.0. I checked that
first because I've published lower in the past and had
    issues.

  • Colors off when printing on Epson printer from Indesign

I'm new to Indesign. I'm a photographer trying to print a booklet for a handmade book.
My question is about preparing photographic images for use in Indesign.
I have JPEGS, saved as RGB files at 300DPI. I'm printing on an Epson R2000 using a custom paper and custom ICC profile. In my Color Management dialog I have Let Indesign handle colors and the correct printer profile selected. Output color is Composite RGB. The colors are really off so obviously I'm doing something wrong. I'm no expert so any advice much appreciated!

Hi - I disabled the custom profile for my Moab paper and whilst the green hue is gone, the colors are dull. My question is should I save my images in Photoshop to CMYK? As opposed to RGB?
Should I change the color profile assigned to Indesign to Adobe RGB? This was the original color profile of the image in Photoshop.

When uploading videos to iWeb, the video screen gets cut off at the top. It only happens in Firefox, but not in Safari. Has anybody else had this problem?

I'm using pure HTML5 for mobile websites although you need to provide an OGG file for Firefox. See the movie page on this site...
    http://mobile.ezmacwebdesign.com/
If you don't have an iPhone, grab the browser handle and drag it to the left to reduce the width to see how it responds to mobile devices' fixed width browsers .
This will play in all modern browsers and on mobile devices. You can use QuickTime Pro for the OGG or OGV conversion or get the freeware Miro Video Converter...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/Easy-Movie-Player.html
If you only want to upload an MP4, you can use a flash fallback player and this will cover Firefox and those geriatrics that still use older versions of Internet Explorer....

    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/JW-Media-Player.html
If you use any of the four fallback players above, take advantage of the fact that you can add a poster image and stop the video file from preloading. This makes for a faster page download time.
You can also achieve this using HTML5 by adding preload="none" and poster="URL to the poster image" into the code shown on this page...

Right, so to advise you we'd need to know the particulars of MagCloud's spec for your project; format, trim size, bleed, etc.
It's doubtful that anything happened "when uploading for printing," so long as you were uploading a PDF, as opposed to the native InDesign file. Did the PDF look right to you before uploading?

Color profile off when importing motion proj into FCP. Is there a way to set the profile?
    I deleted preferences in FCP.

No, profile do many things. It is a color space. It allows different apps and systems to view colors the same. Also fcp typically works in a tub color space not rgb.

  • ? about image resolution/color correction when apple prints photo book

My first time making a photo book. I color correct and sharpen all of my images in Adobe Lightroom 2 first. Then I save the jpegs and import into iPhoto to make a book. Is there an option for turning off auto color correction when the file is uploaded to apple for printing? Is there an accurate way to tell how the photos will print on the specific paper they use? Also, what print resolution should the photos be set to? Is 180 dpi enough? Thanks in advance.

first read the Apple pages - http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/preparation_tips/ - and all of its links
Second - I suspect you will be disappointed. Based on reports on these forums almost everyone who uses iPhoto exclusively to preprocess photos is extremely happy with the results. very often people you over process their photos using a third party program (including Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) are unhappy because the printing process is optimized for point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing - it is NOT a professional desktop book process
There are no options re color correction - it is built in again aimed at sRGB, point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing
Plus there have been reported incompatibilities between iPhoto and Lightroom
The print resolution is what it is - if it will be less than 180 dpi you will get a waarning - it can be greater
The papers they print on are specified here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3412

  • Boolean button changes color briefly when pressed

Hi, I am using Boolean button as a toggle, so I only want text changes when it is pressed with no changes to button appearance.
I am able to change the color for On in properties to match the Off color (I am using the Silver palette so normally On is yellow), however when the boolean button is changes to On, there's a brief changes of color still. Is there any way I can get rid of it?
In fact some of my buttons blink black while others blink yellow. I have no idea where that is set.
    Thak you very much.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are 4 colors for booleans ON and OFF plus going from ON to OFF and going from OFF to ON
You only see the transition color when you have the Mech latching set to "latch when released"
Set it to "Latch when pressed" and you will not see the transition colors
You can set all 4 colors by using the Colors [4] Property
    Colors [4] Property
    Short Name: Colors[4]
    Requires: Base Development System
    Class: Boolean Properties
    To Use: Create a property.
Array of up to 4 (Foreground Color, Background Color) pairs, where Foreground Color is the foreground color of the Boolean control and Background Color is the background color of the Boolean control. Color pairs include False, True, True to False, and False to True.
You can set the color of the front panel object by wiring a hexadecimal number with the form RRGGBB or by wiring the color box constant to the property.
This property is similar to the Colors option on the Appearance page of the Boolean Properties dialog box.
If the Boolean control has four (Foreground Color, Background Color) pairs for the four states, this property always returns an array of four (Foreground Color, Background Color) pairs when reading. When writing, you can pass in an array of length 1, 2 or 4. If you pass in only one element, this property uses that element value for all four states. If you pass in two elements, this property uses the first element value for the False and True to False states. Similarly, this property uses the second element for the True and False to True states.
If the Boolean control has only one (Foreground Color, Background Color) pair for all four states, this property returns an array of one (Foreground Color, Background Color) pair when reading, and uses the first array element when writing. You cannot change a Boolean control with one (Foreground Color, Background Color) pair to a Boolean control with multiple (Foreground Color, Background Color) pairs.
This property only uses the True to False and False to True states when you set the Boolean control to latch or switch when released. You can get and set these (Foreground Color, Background Color) pairs even if you do not have the control set to latch or switch when released; they just are not used.
Because this property does not change the data of the Boolean control, you can set it at any time.
You can use the this property for Boolean controls on the Classic, Express, Modern, and Silver palettes. You cannot use this property for Boolean controls on the System palette.

  • Images look fine in Bridge, but way off when opened in Photoshop

Not sure what I've done to my system, but am now having some color-management woes. I am using Photoshop and Bridge CS5.1, and for some reason, the color-management is not consistent between Bridge and PS... although it used to be until just recently. I am on a Mac Pro tower with a properly calibrated monitor (using an Eye One Pro), and all my other color-managed applications are behaving just fine, but I have this discrepancy now within Adobe where if I view an image in Bridge, it looks correct, but when I open that same image in Photoshop, it comes up way too light and desaturated. I have verified that a correct profile is embeded in each image, but this happens regardless of the source file. I have opened up grayscale images with a dot gain or gamma profile embedded, images with no profile embedded, sRGB and Adobe 1998 profiled images, and they all open up too bright. It seems like some kind of conversion must be happening, but I can't understand what that would be. Color Settings is set to preserve embedded and ask when opening for mismatches, but that's the same as it's always been on my system. I understand without a "suite" install, I cannot access the Creative Suite Color Settings dialog to sync color across multiple Adobe apps, but things have been fine for years between my PS & Bridge, so clearly I've done something wrong. It's also worth noting that RAW images in Bridge open up looking identical in the Photoshop RAW processing dialog, so somehow this is more related to TIFF, PSD & JPEG files.
I have used the Cocktail app for general system maintenance on my Mac, and in the dialog to delete old cahce files, I do recall it had an option to clear Color Sync cache (along with a bunch of other caches), so maybe that "clean up" somehow dirsupted my color matching abilities?
I was on CS5 when I noticed this problem, so I tried uninstalling that, downloading the slightly newer CS5.1 and re-installing, but the problem persists. Maybe the uninstaller app doesn't get rid of all the hidden support files, or maybe this is something else entirely? Have trashed prefs files and relaunched, still same problem.
Note how image on right is much lighter, shadows start to look posterized, colors lose saturation. Left is Bridge and Right is Photoshop. Screenshot done on calibrated monitor.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for your reply. Screenshot of my Color Settings attached. These are the same settings I've been using for many years.
What's most interesting is your reminder to look at Soft Proofing. I normally only use that when prepping an image for print, and want to predict what different paper types will "do" to my image.,, i.e. matte paper has less d-max, etc. SO, My assumption was that Soft Proofing is normally in the OFF position unless I turn it on, and/or toggle it on-off with Cmd-Y keyboard shortcut one engaged. BUT, your assessment was spot-on, in that when I opened up the View > Proof Colors dialog, it was set to Working CMYK. Not sure why, how, or when that became the default.
In all my time years with Photoshop, I've never needed to worry about soft proofing being ON without my permission, so I'm unclear how this came about. I honestly don't even know what the default has been for all the time that this was not on my radar as being a problem, I only know that when I did opt to soft proof an image, I woulp open the Proof Colors dialog, choose the appropriate device-specific paper profile to simulate, and then turn it back off when done. It would make sense to me that the default display in PS should match the (hopefully calibrated) monitor as a starting point.
Several more screenshots below, experimenting with various Proof conditions. This one is a 16-bit Grayscale image, with my usual 1.8 Gray Gamma color space embedded. This was my first experiment, not knowing what the correct default should have been (or was for many years). My assumption was that proofing the same color space as the document (G 1.8 = G 1.8), there should be no visible difference, but in fact there is. The left image is open in PS being soft proofed to it's own G 1.8 color space, and it appears visibly brighter than the same image to the right in Bridge.
Now here's the same comparison, with Proofing set to G 2.2, which should be wrong, but visually looks like a much better match.
Next I tried a color image, with Document Profile as the proof condition. Again, the Bridge image on the right looks correct, the PS image on the left looks washed out by comparison.
Here is the same image comparison, now with Monitor RGB enabled (which pulls my current monitor profile as the device to simuulate). I'd say this is either perfect, or a much better match. This also makes sense and correlates to my suspicion that PS should be showing you things in your native monitor profile until you ask it to do otherwise with a custom soft-proofing scenario.
So now that I think I've figured it out, I leave the Monitor RGB as the device to simulate, close the image, and re-open the image just to be sure, and this is what I get...
Essentially back to the same problem. I verified that View > Proof Colors is still set to my Monitor RGB, but it's as if it's not really being applied. SO, I changed it so something else, and then changed it back, and then it looks correct... as if I somehow need to kick it and remind it to do what it's already set to do.
So, the short answer is THANK YOU for reminding me to look at the proofing setup, becasue no I at least have a kind of workaround and know where to look. The tricker part is to understand why the default doesn't really stick to the Monitor RGB (if that is even the correct place for it to stay set to), and how or why did i get off into Working CMYK in the first place, as that's not a setting I've ever used on purpose.
    Thanks again,
    Eric

the mute button is a switch you need to flip, not touch. if you look at it and see color, its on.

  • Item Background Color changes when placed in production (Forms 10g)

    Hello All,
I have searched the forum on this topic, but have not been successful in finding a topic/solution for multi-line items that need to render a different color than the rest.
I have used set_item_instance_property (and set_item_property) as well as using a VA to resolve this issue to no avail.
When I view the form in the browser - initially in query-mode, I see the color that I have set for the item. Once the query is fetched and I am in non-query mode (display), the items background color is replaced to the standard color (off yellow) for non-editable fields.
I have taken all of the subclasses off, used the item property from the pallette as well as manually programmed within a trigger and cannot get this item to stay the color that I have set.
Can anyone help me get this working?

Are you using the 0 to 100 rgb color assignments you see in the Forms Builder color palette? If so, that is your problem. At run time, you have to convert the color numbers to 0 to 255 numbers. Just multiply each of the three parts by 2.55
Or maybe there is come code running elsewhere in your form that is setting the color after your code is run.
    Search your form for background_color.
