Color Palette Problems on Kuler

So for some reason the color palettes won't download on kuler for me, every time i try and get a color scheme a shockwave flash somehow crashed. How do i fix this problem?

Hi perki13km,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. What version of Kuler are you using? (there are a couple different ones, for example, the webpage, the Android app, or the panel in a suite product). Based on your reference to shockwave flash, if its the webpage version, I would try either updating or testing in an alternate browser. I know some older versions of Firefox for example don't work well with the webpage version.
Hope that helps

How can I  import color palettes from Adobe Kuler to muse ?

I've looked for an answer to this but no luck so far. Until Adobe add this feature to Muse you could try this work around:
1. Import a Kuler .ase file into Illustrator (or Photoshop too I guess)
2. Select the desired colour in Illustrator and note the RGB values
3. Create new swatches in Muse and use the noted RGB values rather than the colour picker.
Hope this helps.

Quitting the app or computer doesn't work.
The pic itself is from a previous project.

You didn't understand my question!

• Color Palette Problem

I'm somewhat new to Fireworks... I've been using it now for a
few months, but here recently I've run into something I just can't
figure out. It seems as though when I'm working with colors, I'm
working with a smaller color palette than what I worked with after
I first installed Fireworks.
If I pick a hexadecimal color value and try to use it in
Fireworks, it winds up picking the closest match to that color. For
instance, if I choose #FFFFE6 (very light yellow) as the starting
color for a gradient and choose #FFFFCC for the ending color,
#FFFFE6 will show up as #FFFFFF... almost white. This same problem
occurs using fills as well. I've also noticed that when using the
color picker, dragging it across a gradient may only show 3 or 4
colors, although I can visually see the differences in colors per
pixel at an enlarged resolution. Before a few weeks ago it would
show seemingly infinite numbers of hex values when doing the same
thing.
This problem didn't start until a few weeks ago... and I'm
pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to fix it. Any help
will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Make sure you don't have 'Snap to WebSafe' enabled in the
flyout of the
color picker (upper right arrow)

• Color palette problems using Toolbar and ImageList ActiveX Controls

I'm using Toolbar and ImageList ActiveX controls to implement toolbar functionality in a top-level VI.
I designed the icons used in the toolbar with a 256 color palette. When I initially added the icon images to the ImageList control and ran the VI, the icons were properly displayed in the toolbar, as expected. After saving VI, exiting LabVIEW, and reloading, it appears that a different palette has been applied to the images in the ImageList control. I'm attaching a screenshot of the problem as well.
Has anyone encountered this type of problem before? Any suggestions you provide will be greatly appreciated.

• When to credit the color palette author?

I am new to the site, read the adobe terms etc and still not sure about this so I'm asking,
I create personal and professional web sites (developer skills only) and the kuler site has great color palettes, esp. for color-challenged like me. Anyway, can i use the hex colors from the palettes in personal and professional sites? and if so is giving credit to the creator required? If required, how do I do that? Can I use small, readable print in the welcome page footer? or burried deeper in the site? or in hidden code?
I have no problem giving credit but want to know if its required and how?
Thanks.

bt10988,
For any color themes that have been shared publically with the community, I'm unaware of any requirements regarding crediting the author once shared. That being said, I can't imagine most creators minding if you gave them credit on a website in whatever way you felt so inclined to do so.
Hope that helps,

• Animated gif changes color palette while playing

Hi everyone,
I've been creating animted gifs using Matlab and the ImageMagick suite (convert). If I open the gifs in Preview, the color comes out fine in each frame; however i I use Quicktime (which is necessary, that's what we use for presentations) the color palette will change as the frames play.
I just got the newest version of Quicktime, hoping that it would solve the problem, but it didn't. Any ideas?

I'm not familiar to the software but I can guess what is happening.
Too many colors. A GIF is 8 bit (256 colors) but some of them are not used by all software. Windows and Mac's are different.
Does the software offer a way to reduce the number of colors used? Can you get it down to 8 bit? Can you discard unused colors with some other software?
Have you considered building an image sequence movie? These allow many different images formats and support up to 32 bit formats (millions of colors).
QuickTime Pro ($30) can import a series of images as a movie. The file size is much smaller than any video format used today (just the total of the images file size).

• Reports (10.1.2.0.2) developer crashes when I try to import a color palette

I had enough with this Reports Developer tool. Did not have this problem with 6i version (have been using for years) and do not have problem with changing the color palette with Forms in the 10.1.2.0.2 version. But the :(!@#$%! reports keeps crashing when I try to change (import) a color palette. The only option available is the Export color palette, the Import is always greyed out. This report that I am trying to change the color palette was originally designed with 6i reports tool and I am porting it to iAS format. It is running on Linux. If I start a new report (from scratch) in iDS (reports tool), then I have the paper layouts uses the new canvas of the iDS. But if you try to open up an old report, it shows the old color palette and does not allow importing the proper new color palette. I had no problem with changing the color palette when porting 6i forms to 10gR2 forms. Whe the hell the reports is not working? It supposed to be the same process to import a color palette. I need to port this old reports into new iAS format and this stupid color palette stuff is holding us back.
Any step by step instructions to import a color palette in Reports, is appreciated. Write it for dummies please - I am tired and need step by step instructions please. I never liked the Reports tool (contrary to Forms) and I hate it now.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

• Custom Color Palette - Chart Designer

Hi all,  I need to change the colors that my pie chart uses.  You can do this in chart designer under the global settings section.  The property,  color pallete has 4 selectable entries,  Frog, Streamline, Tradeshow, and Custom.   By selecting "Custom", this means that I can choose the exact colors that I want to use, right?  If so, where and how do I specify the colors for my custom color palette.   Any reply would be appreciated.  Thanks.
Regards,
Rich Heilman

Hi Rich,
Did you go through my post here https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/profile?userid=397656 ? I`m not 100% sure that you are able to do this using only Chart Designer. The problem is that you need association between series data id in cutomization XML and data XML. If you know such id on design time, you can re-design my example by moving generated piece of XML from WD to static customizing XML.

• Custom color palette in WAD charts

Hi BI Experts,
we are trying to create a custom color palette, which we want to apply to all your WAD charts.
Can anyone tell us how to do this?
Of course we can customize the colors in each chart, but that's a hell of a lot of work. Moreover, there doesn't seem to be any way to save the custom colors, but we have to recreate the colors with the color picker for every single chart.
The WAD chart wizard allows to choose between color palettes "Enjoy", "Streamline", "Tradeshow" and "User specific".
If it is not possible to create a custom color palette, can we modify one of these SAP color palettes? What does "User specific" mean?
Any help will be much appreciated (and of course rewarded with points).

• Appleworks Drawing & Painting: Color palettes *still* getting scrambled

I have a problem when using Appleworks drawing files with painting frames.
An Appleworks painting frame normally has two color palettes. One comes from the Drawing document, and this determines the background color of the painting frame. Anywhere that has no other color has this color. The other comes from the painting frame itself.
When clicking into the painting frame, both of these can get scrambled, with unpredictable results. In some cases, although both the drawing document and the painting frame used the same [presentation] palette, and the background color and another color were supposed to be the same, one could switch to another color. I started resetting the background color of each painting frame to white [in the drawing document], and filling it with whatever color I needed [in the painting frame] which solved one of the problems.
However, I'm still facing the annoying problem that the color palette gets scrambled. When I click into the Painting Frame, the color palette scrambles. If I start painting, it gets screwed up. If I switch the palette from presentation, to something else, back to presentation, that fixes it for the moment. If I click out of the painting frame, and then back into it, or click from one painting frame into another painting frame, the color palette scrambles again. I have to switch the palette twice each time I enter the frame.
Is there any way to correct this problem?

The earliest version of AppleWorks stable in OS X is 6.2.4. That you're using 6.2.2 could be a big part of the problem. Since AppleWorks was designated "end-of-life" it is difficult to find the updaters (especially the US/North American) on Apple's site. Here is the page with the links I have for the 6.2.9 updater. The page has a link to the North American updater in the upper right (the blue 15.8 MB) & links to other languages further down.
AppleWorks 6.2.9 for Mac
Whenever you do an update, it's a good idea to do two maintenance tasks, one for the system (Repair Permissions) and one for AppleWorks (delete preferences). (Thanks to Barry for this way to format this very common answer.)
To Repair permissions, launch Disk Utility, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, click on First Aid, then on Repair Permissions.
To delete AppleWorks’ preference files, go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences. Find and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist. Find and open the folder AppleWorks in this Preferences folder, then delete all of the enclosed files (with the exception of the Button Bar Preferences if you have customized the Button Bars). AppleWorks will recreate the preference files as it needs them.

• CDE 1.2 Style Manager - Color Palette File Location

Trying to find out where the Color (palette, modify, custom) files are located so that I may edit or disable some of the colors that won't work well on certain brands of our flat monitors. Our applications are picking up this information and color styling as well, which is making the problem worse - particular with light text colors like white on light backgrounds like aqua, etc (the users are not intelligent enough to just change the palette to something more readable). Thanks for any help you can lend.

Sorry to cause confusion, I am pretty good at that :)
Log into Shared Services, Expand Foundation, you will see Calculation Manager, select and expand planning, then you should see the apps and under each application all the Calculation Manager artifacts for that planning application.
You will need to export the Calc Manager artifacts as well as Planning application ones, they are separate products, it can be done in one go by using tabs and then clicking export.
If you have a read of http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_migrate_planning_app.pdf it should give you a good idea.

• Color Palette Extension

My stylesheets tend to get long at times and I find I am
constantly fishing around looking for colors to use. So I asked a
friend at work about it and he created a dremweaver extension that
will pull all of your colors from your css ot html fil and display
them all in one place.
Another cool feature is the ability to import the colors from
the web.
I thought it was a cool extension to share, completely free
just install it and let us know what you think!

http://bnewtz.cannet.com/wp/

That *is* interesting. Thanks for explaining what you meant by "color migration".
According to this Adobe resource, an earlier version of the Color Palette panel (v.1.2) shipped with CS3—which might explain why it reappears after reinstalling the application. (The one you downloaded from fwkit.com was presumably v.1.25.)
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/fireworks/articles/color_palette_panel.edu.html
A while back, I sought out an earlier version of this panel for use with FW8, but I was disappointed with the functionality and haven't used it much. It's just conjecture on my part, but I don't think the panel would be causing the "color migration" problem, particularly if it's not active in your workspace. I wonder if it's a color management issue. I'm thinking that Fireworks doesn't deal with color profiles, whereas Illustrator does. If an Illustrator file is saved with an ICC profile and then imported into FW, some translation might occur. Try saving the file without an ICC profile before importing to Fireworks, and see if the results are better. Also, have you experimented with sharing color palettes between the two apps? At the very least, this might be a way to fix those "color migration" problems with a minimum of time loss.
Also, don't forget FW's Find panel (accessible through Edit>Find...), which allows you to search and replace colors.

• Color Palette troubleshooting

I'm using various custom palettes in Tiger and everything's OK as long as I use native OS X apps like Pages, Mail, text edit. But when I do access to my color palette from a non-apple app, like Dreamweaver or Flash, the scrolling list that allows me to shift form one color list to another stays blocked and I got no way to make this working. I need to trigger the "esc" tab on the keyboard to close the list. Any ideas?

You can switch around your color settings all day. None of this matters if your system isn't calibrated and mis-tweaked, which, to put it simply, is the sole source of all your problems. You have instated an unsuitable color profile or monitor setting without actually working calibrated whereas your co-workers are eitehr totalyl lucky to have a proper calibration or they simply don't care and all the default sRGB settings work just fine.

• Change color palette of combination chart

Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a problem when trying to change to color palette of a combination chart.
According to the api there should be a method setColorPalette(aColorPalette) and a property colorPalette;
(JsDoc Report - SAP UI development Toolkit for HTML5 - API Reference - sap.viz.ui5.types.Combination)
when I try to call this method I receive the following error:
TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'setColorPalette'
I introduced the combination chart before by calling jQuery.sap.require("sap.viz.ui5.types.Combination"); outside of the controller;
I also tried to add the porperty colorPalette in xml, but it seems to be ignored.
Has anyone an idea on what the reason could be?
Best regards,
Benedikt

Hi Benedikt,
you can find below working code of changing color palette of chart.
This is based on pie chart but accordingly you can use for combination chart.
