Color Print Bad on Savin/ Ricoh C4040

When I print in color from just about any website the color is off with artifacts or black shadows coming off the images. Now I must note that the printer does not have the PPD or postscript that would be desired. So I have the 3 other drivers ghostscript, footmatic rip and the pxl mono. This c4040 has user codes so I used the utility provided in courtesy by mbroughtn.
We tried various browsers to make sure it wasn't a safari thing, and the same problem happens in preview window as well. Oddly, it I use the .pdf document from "about stacks" that one prints just fine in color.
To add insult to injury if I do print in color ( and I understand the above route is slower) it takes a good 10 minutes or more to print a color document as it will spool for a long time. and locked print does not work when used.
It was thought that it could be a problem with the OS X on my computer, perhaps a bad installment. Though, the support reps said that is unheard of.
It is worth noting that I can print color without trouble on a HP, Brother, and other printers. Lastly, I did uninstall and reinstall all the above drivers once again and the results are still the same. Please, if anyone has any suggestions, answers, etc. I would love to hear from you. Thanks for listening

Did you ever solve your problem?
Which driver did you install in order to print from your mac to the C3528?

HP D5460 printer.  Colors are bad on photo paper,, OK on plain paper.  New genuine HP cartridges.  It used to work fine. Have tried aligning print head.  Have tried "automatic" and "best" for print quality.  Doesn't  matter.

  • Ricoh Aficio MP C4501 with access codes for color printing

    Hi,
I read the discuss called "Ricoh 3245C with access codes for color printing", and I have a similar problem with a Ricoh MPC4501 printer. The printer is connected to many Windows PCs and my brand new iMac. It requires just User Codes authenication. PostScript is not installed on the printer (could this be the problem?). I've tried all the suggestions brought up in the mentioned discussion but I still can't print. It seems like the printer is not connected to the Mac. Here are the answers to the questions asked in the previous discussion:
    Is PostScript module installed?
No, I guess. PS is not one of the languages included on the Configuration Page.
What languages does your printer understand?
    RPCS [3.10.14], PCL 5c [1.02] and PCL XL [1.02]
    What drivers are you using?
I tried the one from the Ricoh site for OS10.8 (http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/ra/model/mpc41/mpc41en.htm) as well as the driver (three downloads) from Linux (http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o). Neither worked. It might be helpful to mention that the Linux driver enabled me to print to a Ricoh Aficio MP 4001 that doesn't require authentication.
How are you entering your User Code?
Depending on the application. For Adobe apps, which are my main concern, I would have to click on the Printer button in the Print dialog to open the system Printer dialog, then enter the user code there under Job Log. I had to use the script provided in the previous discussion (http://webpages.charter.net/mbroughtn/beta/RicohUserCodes.zip) to add my User Code.
How are you connecting to the printer -- what protocol?
I'm not sure. I didn't find any of the protocols cited in the previous discussion on the Configuaration Page. If it helps, I know that the printer has an IP address on the network. And as I mentioned, it's mainly connected to many Windows PCs.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can't help with user codes, but I suggest you try IP HP jetdirect first whenever you add an enterprise net printer. You could always look on a windows computer for printer port configjration. There, you will find jetdirect called raw port 9100 protocol.

  • Print and Softproof colors are bad for "Application managed color"

Hello... Not sure if my problem is a Mac OS X issue, or a Lightroom issue. Either way I hope it is just user error.
While printing, my prints look good using "printer managed color", both preview and printed output look good. I am used to using "application managed color" and am getting very poor colors, in both the preview and the printed output.
I am somewhat familiar with color management, and understand the basic concepts of profiles.
I have a new iMac 20" display, that is calibrated. I am printing on a HP 8450. It appears that both the printer and LR are trying to manage my color when I am trying to do a "application managed color" print. Not being familiar with OS X, I have not been able to determine how to disable the color management of my printer driver.
If anyone has any suggestions, please help... I have been fighting this off and on all day...
One other thing... off topic, but if anyone knows how to adjust a 20" iMac 20 RGB values, please let me know. I can't see how to manually adjust the individual channels.
    Thanks, Mike

Well, it sounds like you are not getting all your ducks in a row on setting up LR for "application managed color". There aresome excellent step by steps in one or two other threads. A key point is using the individual icc profile for the specific paper not the generic.
To properly calibrate you Monitor you should use a Calibration device, like a Spyder not tweek the numbers by hand/eye.
    It is just user error.

  • Printing bad colors

I am trying to print from Adobe applications on a mac. I am printing through the network. The printer is hooked up to a Windows computer. When I print a file from the Windows computer, it prints fine. When I print the same file from the Mac it prints extremely muddy. Everything is almost dark brown. I set the color settings in Illustrator to RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 CMYK: US. Web Coated (SWOP)v2 Color Management Policies: RGB: Off CMYK: Off In the Print Dialog box, I set the Color Management to Color Handling: Let Illustrator determin colors Printer Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 REndering Intent: Relative Colorimetric. These are the exact same setting as on the Windows computer. Please Help.
    thanks

I think it is difficult to say whose fault it is. It only happens with iWork applications - that's true, but it also only happens with HP printers.
Anyhow, somehow, somewhere, someone has not provided enough support for the two to work happily together.

  • Printer Bad Color

I cannot seem to get accurate color prints from Aperture and my Epson Photo 1400. I have calibrated my external monitor and am using that profile to view the programs. But when I print, my pictures are over saturated and have areas that are blow out. I can't seem to get the color profile thing down. A walk through or any help would be great.

Make sure you have the most up-to date driver for your printer. To get this driver properly installed you may have to delete your printer and add it again after you install the driver (System preferences>Print and Fax panel).
Make sure you have the correct paper profiles for whatever paper you are using. In the aperture print pane, under color sync profile, select the correct profile for the paper you're using. Leave black Point compensation on.
Click on Printer Settings. Make sure the correct printer is selected. Choose print settings, and pick the correct paper feed and paper stock.
Choose Printer Color Management and turn it off (you've already given color control to color sync, so you don't want to double manage your colors).
Obviously there are lots of other settings for margins, etc. but the above stream should give you prints of the correct colour.
    Hope that Helps.

  • Is it possible to create a gradient mesh object with 2 spot colors which separates & prints as a 2 color print job?

I have a gradient mesh object which uses 2 spot color values (including some tints of those 2 colours) which I'd like to print as a 2 color print job. Is this possible? If not, any suggestions as to how I should proceed? The print job MUST be 2 color. Ideally I don't want to use raster objects but if I have to would appreciate any advice on the easiest way to transform my 2 color mesh object into a matching duotone raster object.

I'd really say it's that PPD with the new n-space features of CS3 and CS4. If I use your PPD I get the same shoddy results you do with the postscript file. In fact, Acrobat Distiller errors with a log...

If I use your PPD, print your AI file to a postscript file, then simply open the resulting Postscript file with AICS4, I see the same bad results that I showed in the movie. I think the PPD can't handle the new method of breaking out spots in gradients. Just to test this theory... try a different PPD and see if that works, at least to show the seps properly.

  • Best Laser Color Printer

I'm in the market for a new laser color printer. Does any one have any suggestions? I need to stay at $800 or below and need to be able to print from CS3
Thanks for any advice I can get

There is no one best, because so much depends on your situation. I recommend that you make a list of the features that you need, and those that you would like, and then go through the various manufacturers and see how close you can get to them. Examples of features would be:
Duty cycle: How much will you print in a day, or a month.
    Network capability
    PostScript
    Duplexing
    Multifunction
Print speed, particularly color print speed.
Trays and tray capacity. The ability to hold a whole ream is valuable if you have trouble storing half a ream.
    Cost of consumables.
You might want to consider other technologies, such as Xerox's solid-ink, or Ricoh's new gel-ink, as well as laser.
None of these technologies do the finest photographs. If you are interested in that as well, you might be better off with two printers.

  • HT3669 I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • I am using Aperture 3 to edit RAW and JPEG photo images on my Macbook.  I am having color printing issues with my Canon MP640 Pixma color printer.  The image I see on my macbook is not reciprocated in printing from my printer?

My issue is that I am not getting print quality compared to the image I see on my screen.  Just recently it has been very wishie washie.  My printer is supposed to be excellent for producing color prints
I have contacted Canon support but they told me that the signals that are sent to the printer originate from an Apple product, therefore, it is an Apple mac problem not there's.  I am wondering if my on screen proofing and/or printing profiles are correctly set.  I notice that in 'print profiles' there are nine different options for printing from my particular printer.  How confusing is that?
I have also found that when I choose a high standard print option my photo print comes out very red.
Can some kind person please help me?  I don't seem to be getting any help from anyone else!  Thanks in anticipation.

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

My HP LaserJet Pro 400 color Printer M451dn stopped printing after a short usage of non hp toner. How do I get this printer to accept these toner cartridge ? My 3600dn never has a problem

If you are using non-HP toner cartridges, then I would say that the onus is on the supplier of these to resolve the problem.
Or to accept that these cartridges aren't quite as compatible as they've no doubt been advertised to be.

  • Getting Darker Blacks from My HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer

Hi. I own an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer and am on a Windows XP system. For regular printing, it works great. However, for some graphic work I am doing, I can not get the blacks to print out dark enough. I can not find any settings on the print properties panel that would allow me to set a darker black coverage. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey,
I see you are having an issue with Air Print on your CP1525nw Color Laserjet Pro.  Have you tried a full network power cycle?
Unplug the router and printer while on
Power down the iOS device completely.  Check out the following link for how: http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/qt/turn_off_iphone.htm
    Wait 30 seconds
Power the router up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the printer up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the iOS device back up
It sounds like the network most likely lost communication with the bonjour service of the printer.
