Color print not same as viewed in Lightroom

When I print the color doesn't match what is seen on screen. For example yellow will come out orange and purple comes out red.
Using HP 1680 PhotoSmart. Have chosen for Apps to control Color. Lightroom is showing that the printer will control the color and I can't get the check mark to go away. Don't know if I'm working in the right area for this problem??

The problem sounds clear. You've told LR that the printer is managing colour and told the print that LR is managing colour. The end result is that nothing is managing colour.
Note that to pick a printer profile in LR you need to select the Other option in the profile menu in the Print module. This will cause a dialog bos to open up that allows you to select the individual profiles you want to see in the menu. Once you've done that, you'll be able to select a profile.
Note that you may want to compare Managed by Printer against specifically picking a profile. On my Photosmart 7960, I actually get better results with MBP than I do with picking one of the HP profiles in LR. I have no idea why that is so, but it's consistent.

New problem after using Lightroom for several years
Working with bright red flower photo.  Color management set to profile for premium luster paper
Preview and print come out magenta.
Same photo in Photoshop Elements 10 previews and prints fine.

Do you mean I should print the original without intervention by lightroom? I printed it using Windows Picture Manager and the Epson printer and the colors are OK. The linked picture in your reply is a screenshot of the print preview of an attempt to print the crimson image using LR controlling color   with the specific Inkpress profile for the selected Luster paper. The paper print looks the same as the preview i.e. magenta
    To quote:
“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).”
    1. Print of the original photo to the Epson printer using Windows Picture Manager (which I presume has no intrinsic color control but leaves all to the printer). I am asked to select a paper type but have no other printer control such as profile selection (although again I presume selecting the Luster paper selects that profile intrinsic in the printer)===result is crimson flower like the original.
    2. From Lightroom with setting Printer Controls Color and paper selected as Luster in printer page setup and Printer NOT set to ICM but just to the radio button for Color Control (choices seen on one of the screen shots I posted yesterday) I get the ugly brown .  BUT if I choose ICM and then choose a specific profile such as RR Luster or Inkpress Luster I STILL GET THE SAME UGLY BROWN
3 In Lightroom, If I choose to have LR control the color and choose a paper specific profile with the printer set to no color correction, I get magenta BUT if the choice in Lightroom is not a specific color profile but the apparently generic SPR2400 , then I get crimson.
    4. Just to add to the confusion, in Photoshop Elements, Setting to Printer Controls Color and using a paper profile in the printer page setup such as Inkpress Luster, I do not get the ugly brown seen with the same settings in LR, I get a good crimson of the original.
In example 3 above, setting the paper TYPE to Luster and then choosing ICM with the same paper type profile might be a double correction ? In the same setting choosing SPR2400 as the profile may not apply a double correction and I get good color
But what about he fact that the same settings in Elements and LR when Printer Controls color produce different results--ugly brown in LR and original crimson in Elements.

This is one of those computer issues that is not intrinsically important--not my livelihood at stake, but just like a coding bug-Why Won't it Work (and it used to).
The machine I use for photo editing and printing is not used for much of anything else and has only had upgrades to LR, the antivirus program, java and such
I have considered doing a system restore to several months back but I have never had a system restore work on this machine and am reluctant to try again.

  • Color Printing not representing on screen

Hello, I am sure this question has been asked a number of times and after googling and trying various solutions, nothing has seemed to of helped.
I have a Canon Pro-100 printer and I am trying to print a poster I have made on Photoshop CS6. I am using a 200gsm paper and using the manual feed tray to print. The poster contains no photos and is text only - blue back ground, white text mostly.
My problem is the blue is no where near the color that is shown on screen.
I first made the mistake of creating the document with the color mode set to RGB Color. (This strangely has produced the nearest to the color on screen although is still quite some way off - it was dull compared to on screen).
I then redesigned the poster using CMYK Color 8 bit as Color Mode and this produced a even more dull print - somewhere between blue and grey.
Since then I have tried things like turning off color management policies in color settings of Photoshop. Printing directly from photoshop and letting Photoshop Manage Colors. Everything I have tried has either printed the blue as a blue-grey or even nearer to grey.
It does not have to be exactly as it appears on screen but I would like it to be similar.
Any help would be great. Thank you!
EDIT: I should also add that I have not had this issue when printing photographs that have been edited in Lightroom.

Sounds like your video card maybe failing. If you have the previous Macbook Pro version, you may be experiencing the 8600gt failure that has plagued that line. I would take it to the Apple Store or call Applecare.

  • Pdf printing not same in different printers

    Hi,
We have a pdf file which different departments would be printing on different printer but on a pre-perforated sheet. But while testing we noticed that the pdf is not being printed same in all the printers. Can we force this somehow? Thanks for your suggestions.
    Thanks.

Have you looked at the page scaling in the print dialog?

  • Making sure on screen colors print the same

    Hi,
Hope you are having a nice evening.
I just did a test print of a PDF that was exported from Indesign. The Indesign document contained things like a logo (which was created in Illustrator.)
The color of the type in the logo looked accurate across all adobe applications but now when I print it its entirely different.
What should I do to remedy the situation?
    Thanks very much.

    G'day
This is a common problem with home printers, I have a customer now that I designed a logo for that wants to print out from Word to there colour printer.
One way around this could be to get your hands on a colourchart print that out through your printer and then select from it the colour you want and change the logo colour on computer to that colour mix.
The colourchart I found was called "fgdc-geolsym-colorchart.pdf"
Have not tried this idea yet but will be soon with above mentioned customer.

  • Color Printer, not printing

I have two printers,HP color laserjet 2550Ln and Laserjet CP1525nw color. Both do not seem to want to print from FireFox using either the WEB Print Button or FireFox menu print menu bar selection. Both Printers take the commands but when the page comes out it is BLANK.

Problem solved. Using a FireFox Web page for HELP, I edited my PREF file as instructed. Deleting all the lines with PRINT. Restarted FireFox and tried to print to both printers and was successful.
I did notice in the PREF file that one line with print was over a page long and all the others one line. I would have to believe that that one line in the PREF file was bad. Did not note the print name of the line that was huge for reference.

  • ICal Printing notes in Monthly view

Upon my recommendation a friend became a switcher from Windows to Mac. (Outlook to iCal) He wants to print a Monthly calendar with his appointments along with the notes that are associated with it.
He can not figure it out. I have never printed from iCal, so is there help, a hack, or is it just too hard?

I am replying to myself for the benefit of others who have read the post but without answer.
I found this software per a suggestion on the 43Folders group from Google.

  • Printer not printing AND Matching Screen colors to Print colors.  Any advice is apreciated!!

Hello - I have 2 questions regarding  printing to an Epson and also regarding the monitor colors Not matching the print colors working from Photoshop CS4 on a Mac with a Maverick [ 10.9.3 ] OS. My issues are Not about my own printers or software.  I have been tutoring a friend via phone in Photoshop; he has CS4 and is working on Mac OS 10.9.3.
1- We found that he could print nearly fine [ nearly accurate colors ] from Lightroom on his computer, version 5.4.   But when he tries to print from Photoshop he cannot make a print.   There is clear communication between the computer and the printer, as, when he sent the file to print, the printer [ an Epson 3880 ] responded by automatically changing to Photo Black from Matte.  Then, it opens the rollers as if to print, but, it them stops and the menu [ on the Printer ] says 'Ready.'   The paper is 4x6” Moab Lasal paper 300gsm. This issue of Not printing is only with this Moab Lasal luster paper, for which he Does have the IIC profile, and we always make sure ‘Photoshop manages colors,’ not the printer. To address the issue of the printer Not printing at all using a non-Epson brand paper, we have tried seemingly everything from deleting and re-adding the printer from the Library / Printers, resetting everything [ printer   computer   software etc ], trying different settings in the Printer window and the Print Settings window. Including changing the media profile, platen gap, etc.
2- My other and more important question is – after we Do get a print, we cannot match the monitor color to the print. [ We havE been able to get a print using Epson brand paper.   Which is odd because we have the ICC profiles for both papers ]. To address the color matching issue, he has told me he calibrated the monitor with a Spyder, and here are a few other variables that I can relay that may or may not be affecting his color-issues:
He iS viewing his prints in a dayliglht-rated lighting environment
The monitor is an iMac glossy finish monitor, not an anti-glare
We tried working and printing from both an 8-bit and also a 16-bit color-space and also 16-bit printing
The color shift is slightly but noticeably toward Magenta.
    His printer is Not calibrated
Please let me know what else we can do, any known glitches that may be an issue with his older version of CS, any tips you can suggest.
    Thanks very much!

I don't have that printer and I'm not on Mac, so someone else has to step in there. Generally a green/magenta cast indicates none/double printer color management. But then I don't know what you mean by "slight".
The Spyders aren't the most consistent and reliable calibrators out there. I had a Spyder 3 sensor that I just threw away because it gave a distinct red cast (I have several other calibrators, so there was no doubt). Another potential problem is that with most calibrators you can only adjust the white point along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale, but not on the green/magenta scale. This is often necessary to get a good white point color. In this case you need to use the monitor's OSD controls, and if possible the "pre-calibration" function in the calibrator to measure and monitor it - if that function exists. And I don't know if this is possible with an iMac.
This is basically a question of getting the white point right, both on the blue/yellow and the green/magenta axis (and luminance of course). The goal is to get a visual match to paper white on screen. With the white point properly set, neutral color balance relates to that, and the rest more or less follows by itself. (In addition you should set the proper black point/contrast for full control, but that's not the issue here).

  • Printing XML report (with report.xsl stylesheet) shows font colors, but not table highlight colors

I am trying to print the XML report generated by TestStand to a PDF in order to archive it.  When the XML report is rendered in Internet Explorer, everything looks fine -- Sequence names are highlighted in teal, Pass is in green, Fail is highlighted in red.
However, when I print this page to a PDF (using BullZip PDF printer, or even the XPS printer), all of the table highlighting is gone.  The UUT Result in the header is red or green font color depending on the pass/fail state, but sequence names and any formatting applied to tables within the body of the report have no highlighting.
Is the stylesheet altering what is rendered when the XML file is printed?
This is the output when viewed in IE
This is the output when viewed as a PDF printed from the same file viewed in IE.
    Thank you,
    Matt
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey Matt,
This is actually because of a default setting in Internet Explorer to not print background colors on webpages. To change it, simply go to the Page Setup screen (on IE9, you click the gear icon, then Print > Page Setup) and select the option to print background images and colors. After doing this, the printed report should contain the colors you see on your screen.

  • Managing colors for perfecct printing not working

    Hi all,
I think I have tried everything and all my prints look exactly the same (different from what is on the screen) so if anyone could help, it would be great! (This is a thank you pic for all the people who came to my wedding!). In all the of pictures, it seems like there is too much yellow and they miss some of the saturation.
For this specific shot, the camera was a Digital Rebel XT. My printer is a Canon IP4300. My screen was calibrated with a Spider Express2 using a gamma of 2.2. Oh, my screen is a 23'' cinema display.
    First try:
I used the Spider2Express color profile for my screen, in aperture I setted the color profile to system managed and in the printer setting, I disabled the color correction in the color option tab.
    Second try:
    screen color profile: Cinema HD
    Aperture profile: system managed
    disabled color correction
    Third try:
    screen color profile: Spider2Express
Aperture: Canon IJ Color printer profile 2005
    disabled color correction
I also played with the black point compensation and it didnt change anything in the output.
Also, when I play with the onscreen proofing I cant see any changes between these profiles: spider2express, Cinema HD and the oen from the printer. If there is one, it is too small for me to notice.
Finaly, the print preview all look exactly as what was on the screen.
I really dont understant where the problem can be so any help would be great!

    Hi Alan,
I'll give it a bash to help,
firstly you'll have calibrated your monitor with the spider express and it'll have created a profile. Your display should be set outside of aperture to use this profile. Go to system pref's, displays, select the colour tab and select the profile spider created. This gives your display the profile to use in all applications.
Next If your using photo paper there may be a profile for the printer / paper combination from the paper manufacturer, check their web site. I use Ilford and have downloaded the profile for my Canon i9950 & classic pearl and installed it. This profile then appears in the view, proofing profile within aperture. You should not really use on screen proofing untill after you've made all your image adjustments and then finally use on screen proofing to check for posterisation and colour saturation.
So now on to printing, Perhaps the profile you've downloaded suggests a default paper type to use such as (seeing as it's a canon printer) photo paper plus glossy or photo paper pro and if to use black point compensation or not. We need to keep these settings in mind when we enter the print menu. Best thing to do is copy the sample single image preset and rename it to the paper type and size your using. Then in the print settings for that newly created profile you'll see a button for printer settings, select it and you'll be presented with another menu for printer settings. In the 3rd drop down menu form the top select colorsync, color conversion = standard and quartz filter = none.
then select quality and media from the 3rd drop down and select the recommended paper type in the profile you downloaded (it's normally photo paper plus glossy) and change print mode to top quality photo.
Next again in the 3rd dropdown select colour options and set colour correction = none.
Next go to special effects and make sure no options are selected and click done.
You're back in the print menu, select the paper size you are using and the orentation. In the colorsync profile select the profile name for your paper and you may click black point compensation if required. Note the gamma setting usualy set at 1, and your print resolution, I normally have use best DPI selected. Now save this as the renamed paper type you copied at the start.
Next is to run off a test print making sure you select this new paper settings in the print window and see how it looks. If you notice it's a little dark go back and adjust the gamma to say 1.15 to 1.20 and try again. Don't forget to save your adjustments.
As you use different papers and sizes you create these settings and just simply select the required ones for the print size / paper type your using at print time.
This is how I work and it gives good results. Also if your getting dark results all the time consider reducing the lumanance of your display from a recomended 120 / 140 Cdm to something less like 90 / 100 cdm. The apple displays can run a little "bright" for printing giving the impression of dark prints when compared to the screen.
    Best of luck
    Eoin

  • Why are printer managed color prints different from Photoshop managed color prints using the same color profile?.

I'm using Photoshop 13.0.1, Windows 7, to print images using custom color profiles made with an XRite colorimeter.  However, when I print the image using Printer Manages Color, it is not the same as Photoshop Manages the colors and selecting the Canon ICC profile that (Canon 7200 MP2) that is the same as the printer managed settings.  Why are these prints not the same if the same color profile is being accessed??

    Hi WA Veghe,
    >First: DO synchronize, makes sure you have the same profile settings and color mange settings.
I don't seem to be able to synchronize between CS4 (Photoshop) and CS3 (Indesign).
It seems I have to do without synchronizing..
    >I do not seem to find HOW you are diplaying images on you screen: with Soft proofing?
What happens if you soft proof in Photoshop and InDesign on screen: View > Proof colors. Do you proof with the same profiles, both simulate paper and black on?
I can simulate Proof Colors (working CMYK), but not simulate Paper, both in Indesign and Photoshop.
Problem is: SAME settings in Photoshop and Indesign BUT the image displayed in Photoshop is brighter and more saturated.
So which image should I correct after?
    thanks for all help

  • How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.

How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.
As an example, html widget has white background on iPad, and black on mac. The same goes for interactive widget.
The MathType text inserted is inserted as a image, and will have the same color when in fullscreen as when not. So I need the textcolor to be the same in both views. Anyone know how to fix this?

We're still not communicating. This is why I wanted an example .iba.
Here's a re-creation of my own, going off what you described. You said "all html widgets and all gallery widgets" have this problem. So I inserted a blank HTML widget and a blank Gallery widget, and typed into both. Inserted a MathType equation into both. I don't see any difference when I preview it on my Mac compared to the preview on the iPad. I want to help, but I can't help if I can't duplicate the issue.
I've attached the screen shots and the .iba file [link to .iba file].
Feel free to email me directly at bobm at dessci dot com. If you're uncomfortable giving some information here, tell me anything you want in email. I work for the "MathType company", Design Science.

  • Upgraded to CS5 Illustrator form CS3 Illustrator. Colors are not printing correctly in CS5

I have just recently purchased CS5 Premium Suite.  I am working with Illustrator.  When I print my CS3  Illustrator files in CS5 the colors are not printing correctly.  Is there a way to fix this problem

I've been doing more troubleshooting since I wrote this post. I've now tried printing from a non-Adobe app and I'm getting the same margin error. So it is definitely a Xerox issue and I have a tech coming out on Monday.
The reason I originally figured it must be an CS5 issue is because just two weeks ago when I was using CS2, our landscape-oriented programs were printing with .25" margins as they should. Then last week after upgrading to CS5, the inside page (2nd page) was noticeably out of whack and shifted to the right (not left). But when I started trying to troubleshoot this week, everything started shifting to the left.
The only thing different between those two weeks was the fact I updated to CS5.
But obviously, my printer as decided to go to crap in more ways than one all in a two week period. Hopefully the tech can sort it out next Monday.
    Thanks!
    Christi
