Color problem converting .tif to .jpg

I've batch converted 300 .tif's to .jpg's. My client says the
images now have an inaccurate pink hue. Is there something I don't
know about here?

The Fireworks "better quality' setting corresponds to
Quality: 80
Smoothing: No Smoothing
Sharpen color edges (checked)
Remove unused colors (checked)
If I open a 66k .jpg image I have previously saved at Quality
in the high 90s, "better quality" will result in a .jpg at 16k
file. I usually export with quality above 90; 80 seems extreme for
all but the softest of images. If I was going to save .jpgs of
artwork, I wouldn't use the "better quality" setting.
What you need to do is understand what your setting are. I'm
pretty sure you can set the parameters for your batch conversion to
be whatever you want. Experiment with a few of the images you have
to determine what is optimal
for your images and define a new export preset (or more than
one) to use. Images with higher contrast (either luminance or
color) will need a higher quality setting to achieve the same
relative faithfulness in reproduction.

  • Converting TIF to JPG messes with colour

Hi. I just purchased a program called Bracketeer (a really awesome program for making HDR photos), but it is only able to output images in TIF format. I want to save some harddrive space, so I tried to convert these TIFs to JPG with Preview, but doing this conversion makes the photo darker. I also tried using iPhoto to do the conversion but the same thing happened.
I also tried using Preview to convert the TIF to a PNG and JPEG-2000 and in both cases it worked fine (the converted images look exactly the same as the TIF). Something else I found is that I could convert the PNG to a JPG (so start as TIF, convert to PNG, then convert the PNG to JPG) and the image still looked fine. Because PNG is lossless I'll probably continue using this method to convert the TIFs to JPGs, but I'm wondering why Preview and iPhoto can't properly convert the TIF directly to JPG?
    -Eric

My guess is that this "Bracketeer" application fails to embed a relevant ICC profile in its output and Preview is filling in the blanks with a default profile that does not accurately describe the color space of the image. Can you post an example TIFF?

  • Changing logo color in eps, tif or jpg

    Hello!
I have my logo in many forms: eps,tif and jpg.  I don't know how to change the color of the logo.  I was told to use layers but I can't figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    Here are two ways:
In both cases first convert your picture from grayscale to RGB:  In my version of PSE this is via Image > Mode > RGB Color.
Activate the Magic Wand tool with the Contiguous box unchecked on the options bar. Click on the logo to select it. It might be easier to select the white background and then invert the selection.
    Method 1:
Set the Foreground color (color swatch at bottom of the toolbar) to your new color and fill the selection via Edit > Fill or the shortcut Alt-Backspace. If you want to preserve the original B&W you can do the fill on a blank layer as I have done in this example:
    Method 2:
With the logo selected add a Solid Color fill layer and select your color in the Color Picker window.
This method has the advantage that you can easily change the color by double-clicking the fill layer thumbnail to bring up the Color Picker again.

  • Converting TIF to JPG

Is it possible to automate a conversion of TIF files to JPG? I just scanned in over 1,000 old slides. All of the forums I read said to scan them in as TIF files, save these as your main backups, then make a copy that is JPG to reduce the size of the file.
I'm kinda new to Macs. I know in Windows I would use irfanview to do a batch convert. Is there an easy way to do it with MAC OS?

    Hi Again
I did some research on my own and I have an answer to your question Be sure to back up the images that you want to change 1- Launch the automator app. 2- Drag the images you want to change into the automator window ( I don't know if you should do all your images at once or break it up into smaller groups ) 3- From the left side of the automator window choose " Preview " and then drag " change type of images " into the automator window You should now have 3 boxes within the automator window the box on top should be the images you want to convert the 2nd box should be the" change type of images " box and on the bottom should be " copy finder items " box ( by the way you choose what format you want to change the images to in the middle box you"ll see it ) you can drag the boxes to get them in the right order after that in the bottom box choose where you want the new images to go when you have done all the above steps you can click on the run arrow in the upper right hand corner of the automater window
May I suggest that you practice and experiment with the above steps until you get the feel of the process if you have any questions please post
    Hope this helps

  • Indesign RGB color problems and JPEG export

How do I get a bright red or bright lime green RGB jpeg to show properly on an InDesign page? I click on New Color Swatch, Color Mode: Web and select a web safe color, yet when I draw it on the page, the colors are incredibly dark and less saturated, like it's converting to CMYK colors.
Also, when exporting to jpeg the colors are still dark and less saturated, yet if I copy and paste each page from InDesign into Photoshop, the colors are bright and saturated as intended. Doing this for each page is out of the question for my project, since I need to convert 130 similar pages into Web-bright jpegs. The export to jpeg doesn't seem to work in my favor either. So what gives?
I tried changing color profiles, too, RGB set to sRGB and Adobe RGB 1998. CMYK set to SWOP No luck. Help!

  • "Sharing" a Lr Mobile TIF file to the iPhone 6 camera roll converts the TIF to JPG.  Bad, bad, bad Lr Mobile!

I have another discussion concerning Lr Mobile and TIF files that exist in the iPhone 6/iOS 8 camera roll (aka "Recently Added"): Lr Mobile 1.2.1 does not recognize .tif files added to iPhone 6 + iOS8 Camera Roll
A new issue has surfaced.  When I add a TIF file in Lr Desktop to a collection that is synced with Lr Mobile, the TIF file appears as a TIF file in Lr Mobile.  So far, so good.  But if I then "share" that TIF image using the "Save Image" command in Lr Mobile, the image gets converted to a JPG file before it is added to the iPhone's camera roll.  This despite the fact that the iPhone 6 camera roll can save and display TIF files captured by the iPhone's camera.
Please fix this problem, as well as the problem concerning display of camera roll TIFs in Lr Mobile that is the subject of my other discussion!
    Cheers,
    Jeff

That makes sense.  I'll try enabling offline editing for that TIF file to force a download of the full file and then try to save it to the camera roll.

  • I am suddenly having a problem when trying to open a .tif file in Adobe bridge. The picture opens in firefox. It never did this before. How do I get my .tif and .jpg files to open in bridge?

I open Photoshop cs5 version of bridge. Go to a folder that contains photos in .tif, ljpg, etc. file types. When I click on a .tif or .jpg file that I want to open in the raw window of bridge (which it has done for the past year) in opens instead in firefox. How do I stop this from happening????

It sounds like a problem with Photoshop rather than with Firefox. I suggest posting it on their forum @ http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop

  • [SOLVED] python problem convert YUV422 images to jpgs

I hope this is not off topic - but I'm trying this running arch linux, so it is somewhat arch related...
I have some YUV422 images and want to convert them to jpgs. I've found this pyhthon script which should do the job.
    https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lant … 422-jpg.py
But I guess i am doing something wrong.
It starts with: I don't know with which python command I can run the script.
    $ python 422-jpg.py .
    File "422-jpg.py", line 54
print "Wrong number of subpictures (%d)" % numpics
    ^
    SyntaxError: invalid syntax
    $ python2 422-jpg.py .
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "422-jpg.py", line 10, in <module>
    import numpy
    ImportError: No module named numpy
    $ python3 422-jpg.py .
    File "422-jpg.py", line 54
print "Wrong number of subpictures (%d)" % numpics
    ^
    SyntaxError: invalid syntax
most promising seemes to me the python2 command. But I don't understand the numpy problem. I know the script uses pythons image libraries but actually I installed them:
    pacman -Suy python-numpy
    pacman -Suy python2-imaging
or does the script just not find the libs?
I'm a bit stuck here for I don't know python very well.
    Thanks in advance
(BTW I need this because I extended my cameras firmware with magiclantern to create time lapse movies, but disabling the mirror mechnism automatically leads to *442 images instead of jpgs - sigh)

    Hi
I think it's simply missing numpy for python2.
    It's: extra/python2-numpy
    Greez
Edit: Alternatively imagemagick could probably do the job.

  • Color problem on some jpg images

Suddenly it happens that some jpg images look almost black (very high level of contrast). I use a Samsung SyncMaster 245B monitor and I had never this effect before. I uninstalled Photoshop Elements and reinstalled, but the problem remains.
Other jpg pictures look normal, but I am unable to understand any difference in the original files.
The same bad pictures look fine if I open them with PaintShop Pro, this could bring me to consider a bad setup of Photoshop Elements ... but which one ?
Can you help me in finding a solution ?
    Thanks

I agree with your comment. But what I don't understand is:
    1) The monitor was calibrated and no changes done. The problem don't was present days ago.
    2) Why only some jpg show this problem, while others generally are shown OK. I may add only that the bad ones are larger in pixels.
    Thanks for your answer.

  • Photoshop CS3 tries to open tif and jpgs as RAW?

While the problem looks like a PS3 issue, I believe it is somehow related to LR, so I will ask here.
When I try to open some of my saved TIF and JPG files back into Photoshop CS3, it often brings the files into the Adobe Camera Raw converter instead of just opening them. The JPGs look terrible, with a huge color and tone shift. I can open the same file using "Open As" JPG and it opens fine directly into Photoshop. Same for opening problem files using the TIF extension.
I don't see a pattern to all this as maybe half of the images in a folder open directly into Photoshop using the basic OPEN command, but the other half end up trying to go through ACR. The files originated as NEF files taken with a Nikon D300.
Normally, I use the Export command in Lightroom and run my images through a preset, saving as 8bit, Adobe RGB, TIF files into a specific folder. I seldom export as a Smart Object from LR to PS, so I don't think that's the problem here. When converting my TIF files to JPGs, I run them through an action which also converts them from Adobe RGB to sRGB.
Once I've done my Photoshop edits, I usually save the TIF file, then make a few additional JPG web images while still in PS.
As far as I know, I am treating all my Photoshop images with the same workflow. I am using Windows XP, LR 2.4 and Photoshop CS3 10.0.1
Does anyone here have a suggestion to help me solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    M. Jackson

Thanks for the input. When the files try to open in ACR, I see there are two options lit up. Auto - Default
If I click Default, the colors and tones change to their correct values, so that more or less gets me opened up correctly.
However, I don't see any place to set preferences in ACR. ?????
These files are older ones that have been added to the LR catalog through the Sync Folder command.
At least now I have the workaround, but wouldn't mind changing a setting in either LR, PS, or ACR to eliminate the problem altogether.
Any additional suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Process Multiple Files - Convert PSD to JPG

Having problems converting large (30MB) psd files to jpg (not jpeg2000). I tried using the Process Multiple Files feature and when I tried to convert a large number of psd files (20 or more) PSE3 stops at the first file with a second window, SAVE AS, asking for a different format and gives these choices: Photoshop, JPEG 2000, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop RAW, PNG, TIFF. All not what I want. Yet when I convert the same PSD files to tiff it goes without a hitch, ie no second Save As box and no stopping. What gives?
    Suggestions appreciated.

First, I'm using an iMac G5 with Mac OS 10.4.7 and PSE3. Actually my question is really about a Batch Flip. I scanned a lot of slides (close to a 1000) at the 'best' quality I could which was 16 bit color (or as Canon calls it, 48 bit) and 2400 bit dpi. But there was a problem in that the slides being 'emulsion side down' during scanning produced a mirror image. These images have to be 'Horizontal Flipped' to get back to a correct image. To do the flip I either had to do it one at a time with PSE3 or try a batch process. Trouble is the programs I tried for the batch process will not work on 16 bit files as I deduced from your reply. So, my thought was to convert them to jpg first then batch flip, hence my question here. Also jpgs would be more manageable for viewing, slide shows, editing and other software while I could store the original *.psd files on DVDs. So now I am left with doing a Batch Flip one at a time then storing the originals on DVDs, and as I have a Windows box connected, copy then over and use something like IrFanview to convert the originals to jpgs for slide shows etc. Another issue: are jpgs the way to go or is there a better format? Tiff?
    Suggestions appreciated.

  • Color difference between PNG and JPG in Save For Web

I am working on a website and I while building images for the site I am using a mix of png and jpg images. When I "Save for Web" the same source image creates two different color images when I save them as either png or jpg. How do I make sure the images are saving with identical colors in both png and jpg. Thanks

    >My working space is Adobe RGB but I'm not opening the sRGB PNG into Adobe RGB. I am choosing "Leave as is (don't color manage)" this should preserve the PNG's RGB numbers.
are you certain it is not being converted when you open it?
The numbers you quoted are the numbers I get if I open an untagged sRGB image into Adobe RGB (assuming Adobe RGB), and then convert to sRGB.
If I open my sRGB images, either PNG or JPEG, into sRGB, they always match. I've been working on a web site for the past 3 weeks, doing this regularly.
If you are working in Adobe RGB with sRGB images that are not tagged, you add a level of complexity that requires you make the right decision at every step. You need to open them without conversion, then assign sRGB, to keep working.
Or just open the images in Firefox 2, which cannot color manage, and see if the sRGB jpeg and the sRGB PNG match. This is the acid test.

  • Convert TIF Binary data to PDF Binary data

    Hi All,

Below is the requirement from Client:
    1. PDF and Tif files will be attached to order (transaction CRMD_ORDER).
    2. I have to pick the PDF and TIF attachments mentioned above using a batch report.
    3. Then this batch report will create a spool for the PDF file and TIF file attachements.
    4. Then the spool will be picked by another program and print them together in night.
I hope it is clear now?
    Things I have done:
    1. Created report ZPDF_TIF which is copy of RSPO0023.
    1. Used the report ZPDF_TIF to pick up the PDF and TIF file in binary format from the order (transaction CRMD_ORDER).

  • SW-RAW-Dateien als tif und jpg heller

    Hi,
