Color Profile on a MacBook Pro

Hi all,
I'm a novice user of Aperture and a novice user of Digital image processing as well ... so, as usual in this case, i apologize if everything i'm gonna ask, or a part of it , has been discussed in depth yet ... please point me there
I have a macbook pro and i started post processing my images with aperture in the last 3 weeks. now i've been able to connect a second monitor , a philips 107s, and i hit the common problem of different colors displayed on the 2 monitors ... i spent almost 1 day trying to make the philips match as much as possible the colors of my macbook but even if i think i reached a good matching i can still see a clear difference beetween them.
What i see is that on the macbook every image has *Much More* contrast then on the philips. I like more the way the pictures are show on the macbook then on the external philips ... but now i'm wondering wich one is correct or better i'm wondering how my pictures will appear when printed by a standard internet printing service.
I'm scared that i wasted all my time post-processing on the macbook ...
thanks in advance
Francesco

First of all, you really need to get a hardware profiling device like the EyeOne (or equivalent). That will help you get the colors to match... but even more importantly it will measure the luminance of the screen, you'll probably have to turn down one of the screens to match the other, which will also help them look the same. Because they are pretty different display types I don't think they are ever going to quite look identical though, as they have different abilities.
Now as for printing, what you really need to do there to be safe is to turn on Aperture's soft proofing view for the device you intend to print to. Then you can review your edits and see if the images will have any problems. This is also where a hardware profiler comes in handy because until your display is profiled, you really can't quite rely on even the softproofing view in Aperture (or anything else on the system).

  • Which is correct color profile for my macbook pro?

Hey there, I make DVD's for a living and I just recieved my new 17 inch macbook pro
I am about to install photoshop and I am curious.
Which color profile is correct for video work
as in, doesnt matter if it pleases me or "looks cool"
which is the acurate color profile that i can rely on for photoshop work for video (72 dpi etc etc)
    is it COLOR LCD.
    or Adobe RGB (1998)

Adobe RGB is not a monitor profile.
By default, your monitor uses the "Color LCD" profile. For accurate color, I suggest you purchase a calibration device and profile your monitor using 2.2 Gamma instead of the default 1.8.
As for Photoshop, if intend to export for web purposes, your working space should be sRGB.

  • I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Why are colors different on my MacBook Pro?

I am struggling with some color issues and am wondering if anyone can help shed some light on what's going on.
We have several macs in our office that we use for developing printed and interactive materials. We occasionally need to grab files from clients' websites for editing or reference. When we spec colors for web use, we typically use 8-bit hex. Here is where the problem begins:
If we all open the same webpage in Safari, then check colors using Apple's DigitalColor Meter (RGB 8-bit hex), everyone gets the same colors numbers -- except me. For example if everyone checks the same blue background on a page, they all get 163B98 except me. I get 153997. The diffence is small, but it is still different.
Everyone is running custom monitor profiles based on their individaul calibration settings, however it doesn't seem to matter which color profile is being used for the display profile. Switching profiles changes the appearance of the colors, but not the numbers.
I rebooted into Safe Mode to see if something like Adobe CS2's color sync or some background daemon might be the cause, but nothing changed.
Can anyone suggest why my colors numbers would be different? Most of the machines are G5's or Powerbooks running the most recent OS, except me. I'm on a MacBook Pro with an Intel procressor. Could that have anything to do with it?

If you open System Preferences / Displays / Color can
you change the color profile to others in the list?
Or, do you get a "beep" and no change?
I can change the color profile.

  • Help! my System Preference Display shows Color LCD instead of MacBook Pro! Y is is saying this?

Hello people, my MBP's systempref>Display shows "Color LCD" when ity should have been MacBook Pro! YTF is it like that?

It's supposed to read "Color LCD" - there's no "MacBook Pro" color profile (unless you've created one and saved it with that name).

  • I cannot get my HP 6600 to print in color from my new macbook pro.

Does anyone know how to help me get my Macbook Pro to print to my HP Officejet 6600 in color?  I am new to MAC computers and am sure it's just a setting I need to change.  I know it is not a printer problem as it prints color from the same webpage from my PC desktop.  Thanks.

    bamajim,
Here is a link to a page for your printer that may help with your issue.
The document provides steps to troubleshoot printouts that do not match the screen while printing from the web.
Does this also happen when printing graphics from somewhere other than the web ?
Once you give these steps a try let us know what happens.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!
If I solved your post please mark it as solved to help others.

  • Sony CCD-FX525 won't import color in IMovie9 with MacBook Pro.  Dipswitch 2 is on.  It's NTSC.  Using yellow composite cable to ADVC110 converter.  Opened GarageBand and played some, then quit.  Still no color.  9pin firewire on Mac to 6pin on Canopus. ??

Using Canopus ADVC110 analog to digital converter.
    VTR on.
Dipswitch 2 is on.  Camcorder is NTSC.
Using RCA cables to connect to front of Canopus.
9pin firewire on MacBook Pro to 6pin firewire on back of Canopus.
Held the input select button for 25 seconds since copyright not an issue (home movies).
Opened Garageband and played some.  Quit.  Reopened IMovie.
Still can't get color.  Can see video but color not solid.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for getting back to me.  I've tried two different yellow RCA cables and went out and bought a yellow composite cable on one end and the S-video on the other to connect to the ADVC110.  Still didn't work.  The picture comes through but the color is not quite there.  I tried connecting camcorder directly to the TV via the yellow RCA cables and same thing so now I'm wondering if it's the camcorder or the analog to digital tv issue.  I'm almost ready to give up.

  • Is there really no way to delete a profile from my macbook pro?

I got a new macbook pro recently. I was planning to move data from my old mac but couldn't resist to turn it on right away. In doing this I ended up having to set the profile up on my new mac. One step in this process is to move data from a different mac. Since I hadn't read up on the details of this step yet I chose to skip it. When I finally was ready to move the data from my old mac I was forced to create a another new profile.
I now have two profiles on my new mac and I'm desperate in trying to figure out how I can remove the old profile.
Is there really no way to delete an existing profile from my mac?

    r_hqt,
the way to delete a user account is to log in as the administrative user which you wish to keep, and open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click on the padlock to unlock it (by giving it your administrative user’s password). Select the user account that you would like to delete, and press the “-” button at the bottom of the list of user accounts. Relock the padlock if desired, and exit System Preferences.

  • Where to store custom camera profiles on a MacBook Pro 17" OS X 10.8.5

I recently created custom camera profiles for a friend's Nikon D700 using the Adobe DNG Profile Editor. She does not know where to install or store the dcp files so they can be used when she converts her RAW files. She is using Photoshop CS6 on a MacBook Pro 17" with OS X 10.8.5. I created the profiles on a PC. Can anyone help?

  • Color Profile on my MacBook

I do a lot of photography and printing, so I generally keep my computer set to AdobeRGB, which produces the best printing results. However, I am not sure what Color Profile my MacBook should be set to when editing video. What do you guys think?

I don't think it really matters because you should not be relying on the colour you see on your computer screen.
In video, both the movement and the colour should be checked on a TV type monitor for errors that don't manifest on your Mac.

  • Color temperature issue on MacBook Pro Early 2011

From 10.8.1 I have a problem with my Macbook Pro.
When switching the video card from integrated to discrete, changes the color temperature of the monitor which is more blue.
The 10.8.3 does NOT solve the problem! I have read that the cause could be the Samsung SSD 830.
I have read several post but no one has found a solution!
How do you make it clear to Apple that this problem is widespread and ask for a fix?

I had the same problem - it lasted for about two weeks: I posted here, on the Photoshop forum (because, of course, the discrete card kicks in when you run Photoshop).
A handful of other users posted here and in the Photoshop forum as well. For most - if not all - of us, the problem just vanishes after a couple of weeks. I've no idea why - I only know that it occurs on a variety of models, that it's easily reproduced, and that it just simply 'goes away' after a while.
Give yourself at least two weeks - if you're still having the problem, call back.
There's no magic update or trick that I know of - you can, of course, use gfxCardStatus to use only the integrated card, but that's just a temporary fix until, well, the problem solves itself.

  • FCP keeps freezing, when performing color correction on new macbook pro

I'm trying to do some color correction on a couple of videos. No problems doing this, until I try to render them: sometimes it'll do the job just fine, but more than often it just gets stuck about halfway through rendering, and everything freezes up. I tried using a seperate hard drive instead of the standard hard drive in my macbook pro, but this did not seem to help things.. Any other advice?

    Motion JPEG?
Not really a good editing codec.
Convert your MPEG 2 to Quicktime using at least the DV codec or one of the others as found in the Easy Setups menu.

  • Can't find bluetooth A2DP profile on my Macbook Pro

Can anybody point me to how I pair my new headphones with my MacBook Pro? It doesn't seem to be able to find the A2DP bluetooth profile.
Is there some download I'm supposed to do?

I have not had the chance to use a stereo bluetooth headset yet so can't really offer any help. You may get a better response posting your issue in the bluetooth section of the forum.
