Color Profile seems to change after Screensaver?

Sometimes when my computer comes back from a screensaver, I notice that everything is super tinted/washed in BLUE.....
So I go into system preferences (thinking that my color profile has been changed to some other default) but the very instant I click the icon 'displays', my settings (which is 'color LCD') restore again.
So I'm not sure what profile it was on that caused this blue wash (though having previewed the other profiles, it's almost like it falls on to 'Apple RGB', 'Adobe RGB',..etc. for this blue wash look).
It's very annoying.
The screen saver I have is the 'cosmic' one and I haven't noticed it when awaking from sleep. Just the screensaver.
It's almost like it switches color profiles for some reason.
I wonder if I can delete all other profiles other than the 'color lcd' one (which is the default one) so that it has nothing else to fall back to. I have also tried to 'repair color profiles' using the ColorSync Utility but there was no 'repairing' to be done.
Thanks!

I've got this problem, too.
I bought a new MacBookPro 17" late last month (it was built in January '07). I found nothing immediately wrong with it when I first started it. I initially made a new profile for it, before I migrated fully, just to make sure it worked alright.
I migrated over about a week ago and right away I noticed a problem with the display's Color Profiles. Either user account can startup the machine and the Color Profiles worked fine. I made two basic ones to account for daytime and nightime lighting conditions.
The problem occurs when using the fast-user switching, that's when the screen goes blue and the Color Profiles are no longer able to be activated. When I try to click on one to select it the computer just gives me a warning tone. Once this does occur it stays that way, even of one of the users accounts is logged out.
I can guarantee to be locked out of all LCD color profiles and locked into what seems to be the screen's native unadulterated state, which is quite blue, even when seen in daylight.
When I run Display Calibrator I get this interesting warning message:
Can not calibrate the display
The factory profile for the display could not be found.
I am starting an AppleCare work order on it.
And probably one for the crappy backlight on the 17" MacBookPro, too, but that's another thread.

I used fancontrol to control my fan but after I rebooted it doesn't seem to speed up the fan when it hits MAXTEMP whereas it did before I rebooted.
Before the boot I set the CPU governer to performance (3.1Ghz) to heat up the cpu to test the fan cooling (using lm_sensors) and when it hit around 65c the fan got faster and cooled it adequately but after reboot the temp has gone right up to 90c and the fan doesn't even sound like it has sped up.

Thank you for your response. I did have the lm_sensors.service problem before but not when I had this problem (I solved that by adding the modules created by sensors_detect to a module-load.d file.)
The problem (I think) came from trying to fix the boot-to-boot inconsistencies (caused by lm_sensors.service). What I did was blacklist my k10temp module and that stopped a device from being detected. Then, when I generated the configuration file it didn't add the device.
Below is my new configuration file, where you can see the device(hwmon1) is now in it.

  • Why is the color changed after export?

    Hi
The colors of my movie change after i export them.
I tried to find the anser on all kind of forums but i believe i'm the only one with this problem.
    My settup:
    Mac 24GB 1333MHz DDR3
    Eizo CG221

    Here are some screenshots.
    I've made no color correction.
If you look at the preview, you see it's saturated and the colors are off. And after the export it's back to the origanal colors.
    Here are some more specs:

  • Image changing after merge or flattening. How can I troubleshoot?

It happened on rare occasions before but recently I had the need to reset PS to it's default settings and it's happening with greater frequency. I'll make adjustments and when I try to shrink the file by merging or flattening the color profile or luminance will change. Often not a lot, but enough to notice.
My work around was to make a stamp copy and save that, but it sometimes doesn't work.
Can anyone suggest the settings I need to check to make everything seamless? Are there any color profiles that might change in the conversion I can check? I'm most often working in RGB in 16 or 8 bit mode. It's most often adjustments to levels or curves that don't take, but sometimes filters, too.
Here's an example of my workflow with two pics. The difference is subtle but it's annoying.
Filter sky out of photo, create mask to turn sky uniform white.
Command E to merge the mask with the photo.
    Create Smart Object (from photo)
    Apply cutout filter. Apply notebook.
Duplicate the SO with adjustments three times.
Use Lasso to select a piece (flag) and copy to its own layer.
Set that layer on top of the stack.
Set the filter for all three layers to multiply.
The texture from the filter Notebook fails every time I merge, flatten, or send back to LR and the color comes out lighter. Here's an example from this piece.https://flic.kr/p/r6A1Zd (what I want) https://flic.kr/p/qc5QTD (not what I want).

Thank you for the response. I did read it right after you posted it but waited until I had yet another chance to try it out. Both times, neither solution worked.
For whatever reason PS is showing me different images when I have my layers open from when I consolidate them -- no matter how I consolidate them. It doesn't happen every time and I can't identify a pattern except that it most frequently happens if I use the filters in the gallery. Also, it seems to not be applying color adjustments.
If I zoom the image to 100% the before and after is always different. If I save it to disk in .psd or .tiff I still get a different image. When I send it to LR I have a different image from what I've been working on. It's frustrating. It can happen in RGB, LAB, or CMYK. I'm going to try reinstalling PS to see if that makes a difference, but assuming it doesn't I somehow need to make PS show me what I'm working on. Do you know what settings affect the image preview, the version I see while I'm working on screen?
FYI, I'm using a 2013 iMac, 36GB RAM allocating PS with 90% of the memory.

  • Aperture 3 embedded color profile bug still unsolved (worked in Ap 2)

RE: Aperture 3.x cannot display images with certain color profiles embedded. This bug was reported
on March 11, but is still unsolved and basically makes Aperture 3 unusable for my large collection
of scanned slides which have a special color profile embedded. Viewer and sometimes Browser turns
    either black or go haywire.
    What is it about:
When you scan slides with a scanner, you can generate a special color profile so that the image
looks good and you can then embed this profile in the scanned tiff and jpeg images. Most pro applications honor the embedded profile and display the image correctly. In our case, we
generated a special profile named Nikon-LS5000 (it was tested for correctness!):
    1) It worked fine in Aperture 2.x
    2) It never worked in Aperture 3.x
    3) It does not depend on the Operating System (i.e, the bug manifests itself in 10.6.2, 10.6.3 and now in 10.6.4)
    4) It is no question of a special Mac Model (the bug shows on iMacs, ibook profs, and iMacs 2010)
    5) It is irrelevant whether you start Aperture 3 in 32-bit or 64-bit mode
    6) It shows with jpegs or tiffs, no matter
    7) Preview.app or Photoshop CS4 display the images correctly!
    8) If one changes the embedded profile via PS CS4 to sRGB or ProPhoto, Aperture 3 works (but the
image then has radically different colors - so no solution!)
    9) The conclusion is that something affecting the processing of (some?) embedded color profiles has radically changed from Aperture 2 to Aperture 3.
I put a few jpegs with embedded color profiles and screenshots of how Aperture 3 behaves on the Picasa web:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/114939413495021552399/TestapertureBilder#
you are invited to download the jpeg- images and retry in your ownAperture 3 Library.
Maybe together we can find out what causes this bug which is very annoying for any
    serious photographer.

I have put the test material on another server - you can download a
zipped folder (Aperture3profilebug.zip) of all test images AND the color profile from
    https://depot.uni-konstanz.de/get/txau69
with any browser. (The problem was that the Picasa Software seems to strip the color profiles from
the test images, so I had to put them on another server. It will remain there until July 1).

  • Photos to FCP- best color profile?

    Greetings.
What would the best color profile be for a .psd file to be used in FCP? For viewing on HD TV? Regular SD tv?
My gut tells me something like sRGB, but I'm just not certain.
Any help would be appreciated, and please let me know if you need any more info than the vaguery here.
    Jonathan

    "FCP doesn't see color profiles..."
Not everyone believes that to be a true statement. In fact, when bringing an image from Photoshop into FCP you should first convert image to APPLE RGB. Of course, I don't expect you to believe me, so try it yourself. Bring in one image with just the regular Adobe RGB (1998) profile and the same image converted to Apple RGB. Set each frame for 10 seconds in length and render yourself a 20 second QT movie. Burn to disk and watch it on the TV, you'll see a definite difference. The Adobe RGB image will look "washed out" compared to the image with the Apple RGB profile.
Before you argue with me just try it.
This whole area bugged the crap out of me until I uncovered a true gem stuffed inside a multimedia "how-two" guide written by Brian Storm, founder of MediaStorm and one of country's most sought after multimedia experts. (Disclaimer, Brian was a colleague of mine at MSNBC years ago.) Here's what Brian's "how-to guide" says:
+Final Cut will not accurately import images embedded with the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile. You must convert the images to Apple RGB. This will retain your color information while enabling Final Cut to properly read your new color profile.+
+To change your color profile, select the Image > Mode > Assign Profile... from the menu. In the dialog menu, select "Profile: Apple RGB.”+
    Just try it; it works.

  • Hwmon[0-3] not persistent, changes after reboot

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2009-09-12 15:50 hwmon3 -> ../../devices/platform/w83627ehf.656/hwmon/hwmon3
These symlinks seem to change after each reboot. So when I refer to hwmon3 sensor 2, this sensor might suddenly point to coretemp.0 instead of w83627ehf.656.
Is there any way to make hwmon[0-3] always point to the same sensor? Thanks.

coretemp.0 is the name of a directory in /sys/bus/platform/devices/
    temp = show the temperature
1 = sensor number inside the directory coretemp.0
    ls /sys/bus/platform/devices/
Lists all the sensors you can use. For example, if you want to use coretemp.0, you add the following to .conkyrc:
    ${platform coretemp.0 temp 1}
    So if you use:
    ${platform coretemp.0 temp 1}
Conky will show the value of:
    /sys/bus/platform/devices/coretemp.0/temp1_input

  • Color profile reset after screensaver

Running Leopard 10.5.1. Dual screen setup with my external monitor having configured as a custom color profile to compensate for a little bit of gamma. Strange thing that always when the screen saver comes on, and I move the mouse so that the screen comes back, the colors look blueish. When activating the screen options and moving to the color profile tab, the screen reverts to the correct settings again. I have to do this every time the screen comes out of the screensaver.

I run Parallels on an external HP monitor and OS X on the MBP screen. It's intermittent for me but sometimes I get a weird blue tint on the MBP screen coming out of screensaver. Opening screen prefs knocks it back to normal.
    I tried this:
    http://installingcats.wordpress.com/2007/11/23/fix-blue-tint-wake-from-screensav er-mac-macbook/
It seemed to work. It's been a few weeks since the last 'blue shift'.

  • Color profile changes after I login but I can't find the original profile

After I login but before everything loads, my color profile looks perfect. But then it looks like the color profile switches and everything gets a little too dark (not brightness, contrast). I go look at my color profiles and cycle through them, but nothing matches what I initially saw. I've unchecked the "Show only profiles for this display" and those don't match either. Is there a way to find out why/when/how that profile switches and what it's using before the switch?

If none of the previous suggestions work for you then try the following as a last resort:
    System Preferences>Display>Display
Check the Colors & Brightness settings.
My Color setting is set to Millions which I believe is the default setting.
Now click on the Color button.
    Check Display Profile
Is Show profiles for this display only enabled or disabled?
If necessary click on the Calibrate button & do the necessary.
Now in the bottom right corner, click on the purple button w/the black ? mark in the middle. This will bring up the help window.
Midway down, click on the Colorsync Utility link.
The next window should be Profile First Aid.
Read & follow the instructions/details of About Profile First Aid: & do the necessary to Verify & Repair.

  • Color change after 10.4.8 update

After the update, my eyes are picking up a universally light, bluish tinge (not as in light-blue, but as in a small amount of blue in the white) on my display (which is just the Macbook's LCD display, not an external one). Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know a solution? I have tried to calibrate, but that didn't change anything. Maybe my eyes have something wrong with them, but the whites don't seem as "white" and the silver displayed on Safari's top toolbar doesn't seem as crisp.

I was able to return the previous color profile by copying a file called Color LCD-4271780.icc from another 10.4.7 system.

  • Change Default Color Profile in New Image Document ?

I've looked and looked, and even Googled.  Anyone know how to change the default color profile when you start a New image file?  In CS5 mine defaults to sRGB (Under the Advanced drop down) but my CS6 is ProPhoto RGB which means I have to change it manually nearly every time I paste an image copied via right click in a web browser.

I think it the same on windows. If I copy things to the clipboard with Photoshop that the document profile seem to be used there when I do a paste there are no color issues.  However if I use Prtscn or Alt+PrtScn to capture screen content.  I'll see that the colors are wrong when I paste the clipboard into a new document if my default color space is not sRGB. Then I need to assign sRGB to the document to correct the colors.
If I paste a screen capture into the current document the color can be very off and I will not get a prompt on the color mismatch. Therefore I don't think a screen capture has any profile associated with it. And of course the screen has a much lower resolution then the images I edit. So there is also a big size difference. Here is one scaled to 100% zoom after the paste. You can see both the color and resolution difference.  This capture was assigned to sRGB so you will see what the screen looks like after the paste and zoom to 100%.

  • Color Profile Not Applied After Reboot.

Hi guys, I posted this in the nZone forums, but no one replied, so I'm trying my luck here.
I created and saved a color profile named "Games", in which the brightness is set to a bit higher to compensate for dark games. Then in the Performance and Quality tab, I created a game profile named HL2 and associated hl2.exe with it. Switiching to Advanced settings in view, I changed the color profile to Custom - Games. After clicking Apply, starting Half-Life 2 or Counter Strike: Source will cause the brightness to be at an acceptable level.
However, after rebooting, the profile seems to have been forgotten. The game would run under the brightness I set my desktop at. The game profile is still there, however, remembered in the profile for the game under Performance and Quality. I would have to select the HL2 profile again and click Apply for it to take effect again. This happens EVERY time the machine reboots. I have uninstalled the drivers and manually deleted some files left behind, with Driver Cleaner Pro, and then reinstalled to no avail. Is there a way to fix this? This also happens to a profile I made for Guild Wars.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Specs: 6600 GT PCI-E with 84.21 drivers, running a Dell 2005FPW through the DVI connector.
    AMD 3000+ on Epox 9NPA+Ultra
    1 GB RAM
    160 GB SATA
And just as an experiment I installed Windows and Guild Wars on a 6 year old 8 GB hard drive. It was a clean install, with only drivers (mobo, GPU) and Guild Wars installed. Same thing happens. I even tried the 78.01 and 93.31 drivers. 93.31 wouldn't even allow custom color profiles for whatever reason.

Thanks for the reply Richard. I indeed tried the latest driver, 91.31. The new control panel was quite confusing. I managed to get to the performance and quality place, but there was no way to set a color profile to a specific game, so keeping the same drivers, I went back to the classic control panel. Color profiles can't seem to be applied for game profiles, as the value in the profile switches to a "0" every time I hit apply (read that some other guy on the nZone forums had the same issues). So as of now, I just use the 84.21 drivers and set the color profile manually in the taskbar.
By the way, does anyone else here set color profiles in their game profiles? If so, how's the experience?

  • Photoshop cs4 color changes after I save it from psd to jpg

I have used  cs2 for years and just got cs4 and I always work on my pictures in raw then save them as psd then open them in photoshop and work on them and save as jpg for printing.
I can't seem to be able to do how I used to.
I open the picturte in raw and fix the color until it looks good, then open it in photoshop and it still looks good and I save it as jpg then the whole thing goes down hill here I view it in Windows live gallery and the color is all off, its way over concentrated and looks red and jsut way different then it did in photoshop and thats how it prints too.
Any idea what it can be?
Why soon as I save it as jpg the image looks so different.
Please help, I'm working on clients pictures and don't seem to be able to save them so they are right.

okay I see that this is getting little more complicated.
So now I see it isn't anything with windows.
I do edit the picture in raw and it looks good and save it as psd then when I open it in photoshop it looks right and if I select view-proof colors then it comes out with that crazy color as it will look after I save it.
So going from raw where i edit it looks good then after I save it even if I save it there as jpg and open on photoshop it alway changes when it is checked on proof color.
Is anyone on here that know whay this is happening? how do I make the pictures stay the same after I edit them in raw?
