Color Separations Problem in Acrobat 8/9 Pro

We recently discovered a color separation problem in Acrobat 8 Pro and 9 Pro. In version 7 Pro we could select and thus include 'empty' color sep pages. Now when we select seps of the all the available colors, seps are produced only for those colors actually used in the job. This is true of pre-separated and in-rip seps. Can anyone shine some light on this 'change'? Thanks!

We are able to reproduce color saturation problem at our end. We have noted down and will work on this.
Thanks.

  • Color saturation problem in Acrobat Reader 7.0.9 under Linux

    Hi,
I'm working with a guy who is producing PDFs of my work with Indesign.
Using acrobat reader under Linux (version 7.0.1 and also 7.0.9), the colours in these PDFs always appear very saturated. This is a big problem for me because I cannot see with the reference viewer the results of PDFs to be sent to print.
I tried the same pdf file under OS X & Windows, it appears OK with Acrobat reader. Other free pdf readers under Linux also show the right colours (but not always the transparency ;-).
Does anybody has an idea to help me?
@Adobe people: in case you want to test, I drop a copy of my PDF file at: http://cardot.net/files/pdfcolours.pdf (2.24 MB)
    Thanks in advance

  • Having a color separation problem in CS3

I have lost the ability to print color separations in CS3.  I believe that the postscript printer's ppd file has not been placed in the proper location when I downloaded the drivers. What folder should the ppd's be in?...or is there another problem?

I don't have AI 13 (CS3), but here's the procedure for AI 12 (CS2) running under Win XP. I hope it's sufficiently similar.
Go to the output panel in the print dialog. Drop down the PPD field and select 'other.' You should immediately be presented with an Explorer-type file selection window, from which you can navigate and select your PPD. As I stated earlier, it matters not where that PPD resides on your system.
That should enable separation output features.
(Click on either image above, then right-click and download the png to see details more clearly.)
If your PS printer is set up as the Windows default, you should not have to go through this every time.
Normally, when you install a PostScript printer in Windows, a copy of the PPD is placed in the c:\windows\system directory. Some applications do look for PPDs there, so it's not a bad idea to make sure you have a copy of the PPD for your printer in that location. As I explained, however, this is usually taken care of automatically when you install the printer.

  • Insert phots to PDF forms a problem in Acrobat 9.0 pro

I'm trying to figure out a way to insert image files into a PDF form. Ultimately I want to distribute this PDF form and allow the users the opportunity to insert their own picture. Unfortunately, there's no tool for this on the interface that I can find. I'm also very new to Acrobat, so that could be the reason.
The only way I was even able to do something like this was to use the watermark tool. But users of this form won't have Acrobat 9 or Pro to use to add their own picture. Is there a way to accomplish this so that users with Acrobat Readers will be able to do this?

Ted Padova has a blog on Enabling Adobe Reader Users Options for Importing Images on Forms that explains how to do this on AcrobatUsers.com at:

  • Help me about the problem of acrobat 9.0 pro extended.

I was upgraded Acrobat Reader 9 to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. But I didn't knew why, everytime I opened the Acrobat to read some PDF files, and then, after about 9-10s, the program automatic closed with no error screen or some thing like that?! I tried to repair the program, repair the windows, but it didn't work, please help me. I'm running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 with all hot-fix and updates from Microsoft, so anyone can tell me how to fix this problem, please, thanks you very much.

Be sure to write your download to a CD for safe keeping and list your product key with it. Also, register in case something happens to it. Those are all protection steps that you may regret if you ignore (many folks seem to have regretted not keeping the CD or registering).
You will need to carefully spell out the steps you are taking in running your program for folks to help. What you have given is little more than it doesn't work. I know you said there was no error message, but as much info as you can give about what you are doing and what happened. It sounds like you are simply reading PDFs, but it is not clear. Did you close each before opening the next?

  • CS3 print:output:color:separations problem

I have InDesign CS3 running on XP SP1.  When trying to print an .indd file, the separations option under file/print/output/color is grayed out.  How do I set this so I can print separations?
    Thank you.

The AdobePDF virtual printer is a postscript device, so if you have a full version of Acrobat installed you can print seps to PDF, then print the PDF.

  • Problem mit Acrobat 9.4 Pro/Win7 Enterprise (64bit)

    Hallo,

You can try to enable Admin rights on your computer.
In start menu use the search field, type in cmd once you see that  in your search result right click on cmd and Select "Run as Administrator".
Once the Command Prompt open's type in.
net user administrator /active:yes hit enter after typing it.
You should the message "The command completed successfully."
After you try this launch the software.

  • Color Management Problem in Acrobat

When I load an image with an embedded color profile into Acrobat 7.0 it is not displayed with the same colors as when I load it into Photoshop CS3. I have the same working space in both programs. In Photoshop the color is accurate but in Acrobat it's so bad that pure grays look almost brown. I've set the color working space in both Acrobat and Photoshop to North American General Purpose defaults. I've also unchecked "Output intent overrides working spaces" in Acrobat to see if that helped. It did not.
As a sample, I created a color jpeg image containing a gray square that has RGB values 192-192-192 and that has an embedded profile of sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I opened this image on a single monitor in Photoshop CS3 with a working space profile of sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I also opened that very same image on the same monitor, at the same time, in Acrobat v7.1. I got the image shown at this URL:
    http://www.JustPhotos.ca/post/acrobatcolorexample.jpg
I then took a screen capture of the image and opened the screen capture in Photoshop. I used the Info panel in Photoshop to show that this screen capture image has RGB values for the gray square in the Photoshop window of 192-192-192. These match the original. However, the captured image in the Acrobat window shows a change in the gray square from 192-192-192 to 177-167-140. This color is uniformity distributed across the square. Pure black and pure white don't get changed by Acrobat but everything in between does.
As far as I can tell, this seems to pin down Acrobat as the source of the change. On the other hand, I have no idea why it's doing it or how to prevent the change. Help appreciated.

Your list appears incredibly short compared to what I see, missing whole sections...
That could imply that the ProPhoto RGB profile file (and others) are missing from your Windows subfolder for profiles...  Check to see if this file exists on your computer:
    C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color\ProPhoto.icm
This file is on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system.  Assuming it's not there on your system, the question then becomes "why not?"  Have you uninstalled something after having installed Photoshop CS5?
Check also for the file here; I found another one there on my system.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles\Recommended\ProPhoto.icm

  • Indesign CC 2014 color separation to Acrobat DC 2014

I have Adobe Acrobat DC 2014, and i am unable to perform a color separation from Indesign CC 2014 to Acrobate DC 2014. Is there a way to fix this? I was able to do it for Acrobat X Pro.

What are you actually trying to do?
Create pre-separated PDF? Such workflows are not supported by Adobe products — in particular exporting PDF directly from InDesign or saving PDF directly from either Illustrator or Photoshop — and are not recognized by the industry as a best practice workflow since it requires preflattening all transparency and creating totally device-dependent (in terms of color and transparency flattening parameters) PDF.
If you are actually trying to do is print a full process color PDF file to separations (PostScript) from Acrobat, nothing has changed from Acrobat X to XI to DC. That aspect of the product is still the same.

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • Printing problem with Acrobat Pro 10.1

I get an "Insufficient memory" message on my LaserJet printer when trying to print certain PDFs using Acrobat Pro 10.1, but the PDFs are printed without any problem from Acrobat Pro 9 or Preview. Does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks for responding I was using an MS Excel spreadsheet to merge details to produce labels in a programme called NiceLabel Pro.  The information from the spreadsheet was very simple - a readable code number and a QR code.  In the Nice Label document setup you nominate the printer - in my case this was the Adobe PDF printer - to produce a Press Ready quality PDF file.  I tried several times to print this file and each time ended up with page 1.  As the job was urgent and I had a deadline to meet, I ended up installing a programme called Nitro - which also produces PDF - to complete the job, without a problem.  However, I would prefer to stick with my Adobe Acrobat software as the other alternative is limited in its pre-press options.  Hope this information will enable a solution to the problem.
    - Thanks, Lynne
Hi again Dov - have you been able to come up with an answer to my Acrobat problem.  Would like to begin 2015 with workable Acrobat.
    Many thanks - Lynne
