Color Shift since 10.9.3 when launching apps

Hi,
Since my Macbook Pro Retina updated to 10.9.3, almost all apps revert back to the system default color profile for the display rather than the calibrated one from Colormunki Photo (which worked fine until 10.9.2 and I even recalibrated to create a new profile and checked its integrity).
This makes photo editing in applications a nightmare because colors are off. Way off for reproduction proofing.
The profile works in a lot of Apple native applications but even small free third party applications revert back to the system default profile.
What to do?
My workflow came to a screeching halt when this happened. (Clean installs, NVRAM and SMC reset, Disk Utility and combo updaters all do not solve this).
Thanks for all your help.
Madison

What are you calling a clean install?   There is erase and install.  And why not erase and install and just return to 10.9.2?
Using the Restore install leaves you with old information from 10.9.3, unless you erase the disk first.
It appears that there is a bug with colorsync in 10.9.3.

  • My display color shifts to a blue tint when opening photoshop and bridge with Yosemite

The display on my mac book pro color shifts to a blue tint when opening Photoshop CS6.  Any suggestions on how to maintain the current color profile?  My photography work is dependent on proper display calibration.  Thank you

First open the Universal Access preference pane and in the 'seeing' tab, make sure that the slider for 'enhance contrast' is all the way to the left. Next, open the Displays preference panel and click on the 'color' tab. The click the 'calibrate' button. This will take you through a color/brightness/contrast set up procedure that may eliminate the problem.
There are two options in the calibration process, standard, which is the default option and has fewer adjustment screens, and expert, which is selected by checking the box for it on the first calibration screen and offers more adjustments. You can't do any harm with either since any settings you create can be discarded, or profile(s) you save can be deleted or ignored if necessary.
This won't necessarily resolve the problem, but if not, then it would indicate that there's an issue with the hardware - possibly just the connector on the back of the system, which needs to be fastened really tightly. If you can't readily resolve this, since your system is so new, I'd then suggest you call Apple.

  • I am being asked for an old Appled ID when launching Apps following the latest software update.

AAfter the latest software update on my iPad, I'm being asked to sign in to an old Apple ID when launch Apps. How do I fix this without deleting and downloading the Apps again? I have had Apple ID problems with this software version.

IF you still have the email address that you used for th old ID, you should continue to use that ID. Purchases are always tied to the ID that was used to make the purchase. Any problems that you are experincing with the iOS should have no bearing on your Apple ID and the ID doesn't have any effect on what is going on with the iOS.
If you can be more specific as to what the problem is, maybe someone can help.

  • Pismo - Color goes OFF when launching Apps!

As an Apple developer for 22 years I thought I'd seen everything, but here's a novel problem:
I've got a Pismo (G3 500) running OS X (10.3.9). When I reboot, the screen comes up in color. It remains in color until I launch an application. Then, for some reason, the dolor disappears! The screen goes monochrome!
For example, I run "KidPix" (OS X version) and now the screen's color goes off.
And, if I run any OS 9 games in Classic mode, and they want to switch to 256 colors, I no longer get any image in any acceptable video format -- but ONLY in the area where that program's window resides!
For example, running one of the OS 9 "Reader Rabbit" titles, the screen immediately turns to distorted, squiggly lines. When the app is quit, I briefly see the FInder return to normal color / resolution, before staying in monochrome black & white.
    Anyone ever seen this?
    Stephen

    Stephen,
I agree...a most odd problem. No known solution but a few suggestions for troubleshooting.
    - Have you checked System Preferences Universal Access? Possibly someone has played around with some settings.
    - I would set up a new user account, log out/in to the new account and see how it behaves. If normal, you have a problem with your Home folder. One shotgun approach is to go to your Home folder/Library and drag the Preferences folder to the desktop, restart and test.
    - If the hardware behaves normally when booted to 9.x, it should be strictly an OSX issue.
    - If you have not done so, run the cron scripts and flush all the caches.
I would be interested in what turns up...

  • Music stops when launching apps

Brand new iPod Touch 64GB iOS 4.1. When playing music and then launching an application (most of the time, Google mobile app), the music shuts off. Doesn't happen every time.
    Memory? ???

If you are playing music using the native iPod app then it will continue to play when other app is used. However, I do not know if the other app also play music what would happen. If your music is coming from an app like Pandora it will stop when another app is used. This is because the presently multitasking is limited to a few Ipod) native apps. The Nov 2010 iOS 4.2 update will add multitasking for third-part apps like Pandora.

  • Color shift coming out of LR when printing??

Just upgraded to a Nikon D300. Imported RAW (14 bit) image. Edited on color calibrated iMac. Specified Hahnemuhle .icc profile to Epson Pro 3800 (6.10) driver. Set color managed OFF in driver. Print Preview from driver showed a shift to green on parts of the image. Image printed as it looked in Preview, not as in LR.
I then set LR to Managed by Printer, and set the driver to manage color controls. The image printed nearly exactly as it appeared in LR (kudos to the Epson driver I guess) ....
    Any ideas?

The previous test was on Epson paper. This time I use the Hahnemulhle paper, but specified an Epson profile to match the Hahnemuhle recommended Epson paper in the driver. The image printed perfectly, matching the LR image. So .... Epson profile on Hahnemulhle paper looking 100% better than the vendor profile on their own paper!?

  • Wine - Wineboot.exe Runs When Launching Apps

Anyone else experiencing 'wineboot.exe' starting and continuing to run whenever any Wine application is launched? I've never seen this behavior before (though it could have been going on for a little while without my noticing).
I always thought 'wineboot.exe' was used to simulate Windows reboots, but I'm unclear now what it does or is doing. I have since read a little about it possibly having some functionality related to launching applications in the Startup folder, but I have no startup apps or services, and it seems if it were doing that, it would launch, perform its functions then terminate.
The process can be killed without any ill effects on currently running Wine applications as far as I can tell.
Is this a Wine bug, a package bug, or intended behavior? If intended, can it be turned off natively (without having to run a 'kill' script)?
    Thanks.
    PS
Is it possible that this process was split off from wineserver in a recent Wine update? The only reason I ask is that 'wineserver' seems to use much less RAM than I remember it using. Probably wrong about that, though.

I haven't spent a lot of time on this subject as I can't find much about it anyway, and I really didn't want to sign up with Google groups to seek answers, but for now it seems the issue is moot in the near-term anyway:
    http://groups.google.com/group/comp.emu … f8b03fc168
[The run and runonce functionality] is causing a lot of problems, and so it has been disabled in the current git, and should be disabled in the next release of Wine. You can revert to the previous version of Wine while waiting for 0.9.54, or edit your registry and delete the Run and RunOnce keys.
I wasn't really having issues with 'wineboot.exe' other than it wastes resources, but it looks like its gone for now. Hopefully, if and when they get other issues ironed out and try to re-implement it, it will run, do its job and exit.

  • Want to hide Java Console Window when launching apps on Solaris 9.

    Hi,
I am working in a Solaris environment with Solaris 9.
When I launch any of my applications, the java console window appears.
I want to hide this window.
The java version that I am using is JDK 1.3.1_01.
I found this link that shows you how to configure your java settings to hide the console window.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html
    1. I placed the deployment.config file in the appropriate directory:
${deployment.java.home}/lib/deployment.config     (${deployment.java.home} is the location of the jre from which the deployment products are run.
Deployment products include Java Web Start, Java Plug-in, Java Control Panel...)
In this file I have the following:
         deployment.system.config=/.java/.deployment/deployment.properties
         deployment.system.config.mandatory=false
deployment.console.startup.mode=HIDE 2. The /.java/.deployment/deployment.properties file is not created by default.
So I created it but still the java console window appeared.
The above configuration is the system level settings taken from the webpage I specified above.
I have also tried the user level settings but to no avail.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
    Rgds,
    Adrian.

    Hi all,
Thanks Jacky, the Control Panel is the best way to hide the console window.
I have achieved this when using java 1.4.2.
But when using java 1.3.1_09, the control panel does not give me the option to "Hide console" or "Do not start console as is the case when using java 1.4.2.
What it goes give is Show Java Console checkbox which I have unchecked and minimises the console on the desktop as a result.
Perhaps the functionality to hide (ie: not display) the console window is not available in the java 1.3.1_09 version?

  • Fully Licensed CC package asking for CC login when launching apps

We are a tertiary educational institute with an Adobe CC for Enterprise license.
In our Macintosh environment I am able to download and package a licensed suite of CC applications using the Creative Cloud Packager.
I then add this package to our deployment/imaging software (JAMF Software's Casper Suite).
When I then deploy that package I sometimes will have applications asking for Adobe ID login when they are launched. I have also had instances of successfully deployed applications asking for Adobe ID login weeks after being used successfully. I am able to deploy the same package successfully to different machines that are spec'd the same.
I have even had the instance where I imaged a machine and the applications asked for Adobe ID login, so I then re-imaged the machine with the exact same image and the 2nd time the applications launched successfully.
To my mind, this indicates the licensing being 'broken' in some way. I might add that this also occurs within our Windows environment using SCCM to deploy the package.
Is anybody able to point me in the right direction as to where I should be looking (within the Mac system) for the particular license file that may or may not be getting corrupted/blocked? I have had a look at the APTEE tool, but have not had any success with using it to repair the license.

    Hi AlanSmithCPIT,
    Please refer the article: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/provisioning-toolkit-enterprise.html.
    How to get APTEE:
    1. Download and install Creative cloud packager.
    2. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/PDapp/CCP/Utilities/APTEE/adobe_prtk.

  • Language Bar appears when launching apps on RD Client on iOS devices

When using the RD Client app on iOS devices to launch programs from a Remote Resource Feed we always get a language bar appearing on the screen. The language bar doesn't appear when using RemoteApp from a PC or if I login into the server directly, only when
    using the iOS app.
The language bar also shows the default language as English US which is not the default. In Language screen in Control Panel we only have English UK listed. The Welcome screen and New user setting is also all set to English UK, the only place I can see English
US is in the Override Windows display language drop down menu in the Advanced Settings.
I am assuming the language bar is showing because it some how thinks English US is the default but not sure how to remove this. The language on the iOS devices are also English UK.
I have tried re-creating profiles and also actually adding the English US keyboard then removing it but neither worked.
The RemoteApp server is Windows 2012 R2.
    Any help/ideas appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please try following script to control and hide the language bar.
You can also control the language bar by using a logon script to set the ShowStatus value. Here is a sample script to disable the language bar:
    Dim WshShell
    Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    WshShell. RegWrite" HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar\ShowStatus", 3, "REG_DWORD"
Also can try to create following registry setting.
    Hide Language Bar:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar]
    “ShowStatus”=dword:00000003

  • Animation when launching app is lagging (not smooth)

Since upgarade my iPad from 4.2 to 4.3.1, the launching amimation for the app is mot fluid as before. I tried to reinsall the FW but the problem persists

Have you tried restoring the iPad firmware via iTunes?
How much free space is left on your iPad?
Make sure you have a full backup of the data on your iPad, then try resetting iPad by going to Settings > General > Reset and choose the option to delete all content and settings. Does this help? If it does, do not restore the original backup via iTunes. Instead, tell iTunes this is a new iPad and select the content you'd like to sync.

  • Color shift between Library and Develop module

    Hi,
I recently noticed a color shift between in the image when going from the library to the develop module. Yes, I know this is mentioned in the FAQ, but I did not find the solutions given there to be satisfactory.
Let me explain what happens: I have taken Photos with my Canon EOS 300D, in Jpeg mode with Color Space in the Camera set to AdobeRGB. The photos I am talking about were taken with Tungsten light with auto white balance and have a distinct orange color cast. I use Windows XP and view my Photos on a LCD Display calibrated with the Pantone Huey system. The Lightroom Library Module and Photoshop CS2 both display the original image almost identically (there are no changes applied inside Lightroom or Photoshop, I view the original image in both applications). Photoshop is set to use the Adobe RGB Color space as its working Color space, Softproofing is switched off. However, when I switch to the Develop Module, the colors (especially the orange hues) shift very noticably toward pink. I can only assume that the Colorspace conversion or maybe some implicit soft proof used differs between the modules. So, to restate the problem: If I switch back and forth between Library and Develop, without changing anything and in 1:1 view to avoid errors introduced by different zooming methods, the colors shift quite drastically back and forth.
I have to say that this is really quite annoying. The whole point for me to use the develop module is to use it to make adjustments to the colors, and for this to work properly I have to see the same colors in both modules and in Photoshop. There is no point in correcting a pink color cast away in Develop that is not even there in either the library module or Photoshop (and that would then have a stronger orange tint because I tried to counter the pink tint in develop).
So this leads me to the final question: Is it possible to tell Develop to use the exact same color settings as the Library Module? Or is there another way to compensate for the color shift?
I hope I was clear in what happens and what I tried to do. If it helps I can gladly provide a sample photograph that clearly illustrates the point.
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Daniel

Thanks for your comments, Don and Fred. I hope that this issue will be worked on soon.
Fred, I have set the Preview Quality to High, but it doesn't seem to make any differences concerning the color shift. I have investigated this matter further by now and made the following observations:
*The color shift is a lot less noticable on my laptop (the laptop screen is also color profiled). On my laptop the change is more of a subtle shift in contrast than in color. This might be caused by the smaller color gammut of my laptop display though.
*I have uploaded a testimage so that others can check if this shift occurs at their workstations too - after all, it might be a misconfiguration of my color management software, though I doubt that (because Adobe already states that library and develop render different previews). I would be interested if the color shift I describe is noticable at other workstations too. The link to the testimage: http://www.danyx.com/colorshift.jpg (permission to use the image to test the color reproduction is of course granted hereby).
Thanks for your help, I hope Adobe will listen soon,
    Daniel

  • Color shift on re-import from PS (13.0.1) to LR (4.2), Windows.

    Hi!
I've got strange subtle color shift from reds to yellows when I'm doing the following:
    1) import my raw files as DNG into LR
    2) edit them in LR
    3) ctrl-E them to edit in PS
    4) edit them in PS (just drawing a dot with the brush tool somewhere, so the file could be saved and re-imported to LR)
    5) save (not "save as") them in PS which bring them back as tifs to LR
This final tif from PS has some color shift in comparison to the original DNG file. Nothing is edited in PS.
    Furthermore:
    - if I'll open to edit the resulted tif with the color shift in PS once again with the option to use LR adjustments, I'm getting color shift in PS
    - if I'll open to edit the resulted tif with the color shift in PS once again with the option to open the original tif without LR adjustments, I'm getting correct color in PS, as in my original DNG
    LR - ProPhotoRGB
    PS - ProPhotoRGB
Thanks for any help and suggestions!

I can't explain why your results are slightly different than mine, but I think I know what is happening. The DNG you posted is very heavily clipped with RawDigger showing about 4Mpixels at 100% RGB. You can download RawDigger to see for yourself:
    http://www.rawdigger.com/
I noticed you didn't apply any Basic panel settings, which is probably why there is such a large difference between the DNG and rendered TIFF images. LR4 PV2012 uses "image adaptive controls with fairly complex algorithms that interact from top-down:
    Exposure>Contrast>Highlights>Shadows>Whites>Blacks
In other words the Exposure setting affects how all of the other controls beneath it will function. I agree that it shouldn't matter and that the rendered TIFF should match the raw file, but it looks like the PV2012 rendering engine fails with very heavily clipped images (i.e. large areas of 100% RGB in the raw file) and ‘0’ Exposure setting.
You can correct this by trying not to overexpose the image during the shoot. For the lighting in this DNG image a -.5EV to -1.0EV exposure bracket would get you closer to a full dynamic range image. You can always clip the highlights inside LR, so there's no need to heavily clip the original shot (especially with studio lighting).
For the model images you have now I would set LR's Exposure to -.5EV to -1.0EV (i.e. to adjust midtone exposure) and then adjust the other Basic panel setting in a top-down manner. Usually setting -Highlights = +Shadows works best for most images. Next adjust Whites to set your white clipping point (hold down Alt key) and Blacks for the black clipping point. Next tweak Exposure if the midtones are too dark or light and then lastly adjust contrast, which I use sparingly (i.e. ±25).
Here are the Basic Panel settings I used:
    Exposure -0.50, Contrast 0, Highlights -50, Shadows +50, Whites 25, Blacks -45
I also adjusted Clarity to -25 to retain the high-key look.
With the above settings the DNG and Edit in PS TIFF histograms look identical on my system. The key is to adjust Exposure to set the midtones, which helps the PV2012 rendering algorithms to work properly. Please let me know if this works the same on your system.
