Color stretches my clips

so i have a project in final cut pro, i send it to color 1.5, it says the settings are the same (custom 960 x 540) , but how come it stretches out my image?? what this reminds me of is a 4:3 TV show stretched out to 16:9.
how can i keep this from happening?

ok so i'm a total beginner with all of this. long story short...
I have some old footage it is 960 x 540 H.264. it's a .mov
I have my project in final cut pro, and i hit send to color. it then sends to color and in color the settings say 960 x 540 however it is a lot wider than 960 when it gets into color however it still looks 540 high. when i send it back to final cut pro it cuts off some footage on the sides but still is stretched out. here is an image on before and after exported using quicktime.

how can i use color and have it maintain my 960x 540 ??

  • How can I change the background color of black clips?

"iMovie Help" says to double click (or "apple i" or file ⇒show info), then "Click the color box and choose a color for the clip". I get a "Clip Info" window, with "Name", "Media File", "Size", "Capture date", and "Duration", but it does not have a "Color box". I know this should be a simple task. Thanks to any for their time and expertise.

Hi dosrio - what was the origin of the black clip? If it was a title 'over black' you are best to re-do it, with 'over black' unchecked.
If it was really just an 'empty space' formed by dragging the existing clips to the right, then it must be first converted into a black clip (Control-Click it, and select 'convert empty space to clip'). Then double click it, and the resulting info box will include a colour selector. Note that this is a simple way of creating any colour clip you want. You must be in Timeline mode to create it, after which it will show up in both Timeline and Clips View.

  • Setting for colored bar under clips used repetedly

Is there a setting that places a colored bar underneath clips that are used repetedly, but not in the same order? I know this setting exists in FCPro, but cannot seem to find it in FCE.

If you mean Labels then no, this is not an
    FCE feature.

  • When clicking into any of the Offset, Gamma or Gain "Circles", the color of my clip completely changes for that time!?

    Hi Guys,
I really can't figure this one out. When color correcting my clips and I click on one of the HUD Controls such as the Overall Offset, the preview image of the clip changes to an extreme blue color, no matter where I drag the knob. As soon as I stop dragging, the image returns to its normal, now "color corrected" state. What in the world is going on? I can't continue working on my project like this, cause it's impossible to color correct...
Anybody know of the problem I'm facing, a bug, or a just a button I need to click?
    Thanks a bunch,
    Fabian
*I might note that everything worked fine before. I havn't changed any settings (at least that I'm aware of).

    Hello Neil,
thanks for your response. The problem seems to have solved itself after a few reboots and restarts of SpeedGrade CC. I was working in direct link from Premiere.
In any case, I'm running OSX 19.9.4 on a 2.6 i7 Macbook Pro (Retina) with 16GB RAM and GeForce GT 650M with 1024MB vRAM. My footage is CinemaDNG, which was recorded on a Blackmagic Cinema camera.
I just checked and I have an update to install. We'll see if the problem reoccurs.
    Thanks

  • How do I change the color of the clipping path in CS5

Just installed Photoshop CS5 I use the pen to create a clipping path for isolation. In CS4 the path line always contrasted with the background I was working on. In CS5 it is only gray so I cannot work on grey background pics as I cannot see the path. How can I change it back to multi colored like CS4?
In CS4 I could change between gray & colored by enabling or disabling OpenGL Drawing from Edit->Preferences->Performance. This does not work for me in CS5. I really need the color as I am isolating a dark gray bike againsr a lighter gray wall. I keep loosing the curve handles against the wall.

Which means that the wall isn't neutral gray, it has some color in it. Anyway, that's beside the point. In CS5 they've changed the way they display paths when OpenGL is turned off (probably changed to another API behind the scenes) which caused these problems. If i've understood it correctly, this isn't a bug per se, it's just a limitation of the API that they're using now (lack of blend modes or some such).
If you want the old way back then you can try making a feature request/bug report here: https://www.adobe.com/go/wish

  • Colored bars in clip after apply a little motion

I get these colored bars in my clip after applying some motion effects (kern). Rendering does not solve. Any idea?
    Here is a screenshot:
    http://kttns.org/nkzgy

I had a very similar problem a while back, but I never found a solution. I think it was somehow linked to using an external USB drive (which is definitely a bad idea!).
Are you using an external drive to store your media? If so, what type and how is it formatted?

  • Color Correcting Multicam Clip

I have a two camera project.  I am color correcting the project.  I can see where doing the color work in the timeline would be very ineffective.  The Angle Editor would be a much more efficient way to go.  My problem is that once I open the Angle Editor I have each camera on line, one above the other, as I would expect.  I can color correct the upper one no problem.  When I select the lower camera clips they show in the viewer only while the cursor is over one.  As soon as I move the cursor to the color board the viewer switches to the upper camera clip.
What am I doing wrong here ?
I know I am going to fill really stupid once I find out the answer .

At the head of each lane in the angle editor is an icon that lets you select which clip appears in the viewer.

  • Color correcting master clip/parent file

can I color correct the master clip and effect all of the affiliate clips in a timeline? Thanks

Only if you do the cc'ing prior to editing the footage into the timeline.
If the footage is already cut into the timeline, you could simply 'copy' the color correction then use 'paste attributes/filters' to the clips in the timeline.
Alternatively, you could set the color correction, drag it's icon from the viewer, into the browser then drag that to your clips in the timeline. Or, simply drag the icon (found at top left of color correction tab in the viewer...looks like two sheets of paper with a hand over them) directly from the viewer, onto the clips in the timeline.

  • Color grading retimed clips???

I retimed some clips in the project timeline,
arranged them, but now I cant color grade them…
Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong ???
    Thanks

It seems to me that you are not doing anything wrong.
You should be able to apply color correction to a retimed clip.
I can only suggest the usual: trash your preferences and try again.

  • Add keyframes color-correcting a clip

I'm using Final Cut Pro 10.1.4 on an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.1.
When I try adding multiple sequential color corrections in a single clip, there is no way to add keyframes to each correction.
In the video inspector the add keyframe symbol does not appear.
In the show video animation window, if I clik "control k" the keyframe symbol does appear,  but if I add more than 1 keyframe only the last one is active, so I can only correct the entire clip.
Is there any way to add more than 1 sequential correction  using keyframes, instead of cutting che clip into multiple segment and correcting each one of them?

I have an RGB Channel Mixer that can be keyframed.
First, I recommend turning on Video Scopes (RGB Parade) and turning off the Color board for the title (you do not want to accidentally color grade the title).
RGB Channel Mixer is a title effect, so just drag it over the region you need to color "mix". You can use this effect in conjunction with the color board for the storyline clip. (Do not color correct the channel mixer!
You can toggle the view with the channel mixer selected — type 'v'.
You can download it here: RGB Channel Mixer
It won't hurt to try it and if you don't like it - just delete it. (It's still a bit of an experiment at this point.)
The effect works by mixing the red, green and blue channels separately against a black background solid. The Amount values use opacity to change the mix. The Boost values are different. They add a little "gain" in the channel. There's a subtle difference between the two. Contrast and Brightness controls are added to help with the lack of range assist (shadow, mids, highlights).

  • Color labels of clips lost??

I usually pick selects out of raw footage using labels. Red, orange, green, etc. I did a pass on my latest work project, doing these labels the other day, and now I return to the project today to find all the labels gone. ALL of the footage is now the default blue color.
I would think - oh maybe I forgot to save or something. Not the case. First off, these label issues also exist in the most recent auto-saves. But that's not the weird part. The weird part is that all of the actual CUTS I made to my raw footage - the in and out points for each select - are completely INTACT. It's just the label colors that are gone.
In fact one of the last changes I made to the project - adding a quick Curves adjustment to the final clip - is ALSO still intact. So its not that the work I did is lost - its that just the label information didn't make it somehow.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is this a glitch?
    Latest Premiere CC 2014.2
    Mac OS X 10.10.1

labels are synchronised to the server for imap mail accounts. Unfortunately older server software does not support the feature and the labels are removed instead of synchronised.
If you mail account is checked on say a 15 minute schedule then the labels will also disappear every 15 minutes if my assumption is correct.

  • Wild Colors when dragging clips in Sequence

    Hi All,
I just installed CS4 Production Premium on my Mac OSX Lion, everything updated to latest version (4.2.1)
On Premiere Pro, when I'm dragging clips into and around the sequence, the clips themselves turn into a crazy kaleidescope of colors everytime it is moved.
And it's like frozen onto the screen unless I close and reopen the sequence timeline.  Why is this?  Is anybody else having similar issues?
    See image below:
So far it plays fine in a 2nd monitor, but the clip still gets crazy colors after dragging.
I am using Sony XDCAM EX clips (mp4).
I will try with other formats.
Don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I do have Avid Media Composer 6 installed on the same system.
It is an 8-core Mac Pro, 6GB RAM, NVidia 8800GT card, various storage types (RAID5 on an AVID VideoRaid ST, 1TB hard drives)
    Thanks

There have been several similar posts to this forum, and, IIRC, all revolved around Lion. I do not recall any "fix," however, but they might well be in those posts. Being a PC-only person, I did not follow the threads as closely, as I should have.
I'd Search this forum, and maybe on "display," and "Lion."
If I can locate the threads, I'll post links.
Good luck, and wish my memory was better.

  • How do I change the color of the clipping path

Just installed Photoshop CS4 I use the pen to create a clipping path for isolation. In CS3 the path line always contrasted with the background I was working on. In CS4 it is only gray so I cannot work on grey background pics as I cannot see the path. How can I change it back to multi colored like CS3?

The paths are often hard to see against certain backgrounds and I don't know how they can be changed.
If the path is hard to see, alter the opacity of the layer temporarily or apply a Levels adjustment layer.

  • Color grade multicam clip?

I have a multicam clip that has about 7 different clips inside. Is it just my system, or do color adjustments inside the angle viewer not show up in the main project timeline? Shouldn't I be able to just grade my clips inside the Angle Viewer and have them show up in the main timeline versus having to go through and grade each cut in that main timeline?
Same goes for audio. Adjustments I do in the angle viewer don't do anything once I start cutting the multicam clip.
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Russ.
That's what I'm trying to do, yes.
It seems like it works but then sometimes it doesn't. Maybe I'm wrong.
The audio is weird too. I'll set the audio in the Angle Viewer to the levels I want, but the audio meter when I play the main timeline is different.
I'll see if I can figure out what's going on and report back. If anyone else is experiencing this, please reply.
    Thank you!

  • Help. sending fcp timeline to color changes some clips to freeze frames

I was finishing a project in FCP that was shot on the RED. I had a number of deliverables. I cut in FCP with REDs M-res proxy QT files then uprezed (replaced the footage) to H-res for my conform.
I then "sent to color" a number of different timelines. Everything was on one layer and there were no effects or speed ramps on any of the clips.
About half the time, the timelines would be fine. The other half of the time some of the shots came in as freeze frames from earlier in the clip. This was very problematic in that I couldn't color the same scene fully. I needed to get it done in a day so I had to match what color was doing in FCP with the clips that would not come across.
I moved the clips in the timeline but they would only come in as freezes.
    Anyone heard of this before?
It compromised the quality of my job and ended up being very costly.

    Let me get this straight.
You were editing with the proxy container Quicktimes in Final Cut?
If that is true, then I'm sort of surprised that COLOR opened at all.
You should have actually "down-rezzed" the QT containers to the "P" proxy. That will cause COLOR to open up and link to the original R3D raw 4K files (if that's what you were working with). That also raises the spectre of 3K... tell me that's not so, or that is Strike Two.
There is an associated utility with the "Clipfinder" software called ColorFixer (doesn't have anything to do with film processing) that will take away the so-called and well-documented "looping bug" that afflicts large-ish spanned RED files.
That's a couple of things that occur to me right away...
