From what I can tell, it seems that the function will be more tolerant the closer it is to the click point.
In other words, it's kinda of like a radial gradient spanning out from the point that you click. It will select more for the area closer to the click point and gradually less as it moves away.
This may or may not be what it does, this is just what I have found from fooling around with it.

Can kuler color themes be shared between CC Teams?

Is it possible for color themes, color groups, swatches etc created in Kuler or in cc applications such as PS, AI, ID, FW to be shared securely between cc team members?
I know using Kuler I can create my themes and download these for use in applications, but can they then be shared through cc for use by other team members?

Tehere may be a number of things disturbing and confusing Illy. You may have a look at the list. Maybe Item 7) or something else under 5) can be relevant.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

FAQ: UI - How can I change the color theme, size of the text, or turn off the application frame?

CHANGING THE INTERFACE COLOR SCHEME:
The Photoshop CS6 default interface is dark, but if you prefer the lighter interface you are used to from earlier versions,
you can change it back in the appearance area. There are 4 default color themes.
Mac Photoshop > Preferences > Interface
Windows Edit > Preferences > Interface
CONFIGURING LARGER FONTS:
For those who need larger fonts, you can also change the UI Font Size down in the type area.
Be sure to restart Photoshop to see the changes.
TURNING OFF THE APPLICATION FRAME
CS6 opens now by default in "Application Frame". You can go Window>Application Frame in the main meu and uncheck this

Select the title / text and then click on the "i" (inspector). A colored pin wheel shows up after you click on the square box directly below the font settings inside the inspector window. Then simply drag the dot to the color you want. Like this:

Issue in Color Theme on the map with ADF geographic components

I am facing an issue in bringing up a map using color theme .I can able to bring up a map with color themes using geographic components feature in ADF.
The problem here is 'Edit Color Map Theme' dialog which lists Map Theme in five categories like continents,counties,countries,states_abbrev,states_names.
we had implemented map using Color Theme based on the states_abbrev and found it was working properly.
But after some days we found that the settings we made to work for the map no longer works and resulted in no color theme on the map being displayed on the page.
It was found that the states_names works properly instead of states_abbrev by that time.
But again after some days it didnt work with state_names and we revert back our code to follow state_abbrev so as to get the desired result.
Does somebody know where is the problem and how to approach this issue?

Quick Install is gone.
Database repair doesn't work.
Color coded categories is gone, and as you've discovered Theme colors are gone.
Print to Excel is gone.
Many desktop clients that worked with 4.2 do not work.
It won't work with legacy devces.
and others.... There are lots of complaints about 6.2 scattered around the forums. Personally, the HotSync manager keeps forgetting the connections I've set, and goes to default views.
You aren't missing much of anything, IMHO.

I can't access Adobe Color Themes in Illustrator

Hi,
I've dowloaded the latest Illustrator from CC and when I click on Windows on the menu bar I don't see Extensions like I see in Photoshop. I can't access the Adobe Color Themes like I can in Photoshop. This same issue applies with InDesign. Do I need to reinstall Illustrator and InDesign?

Kuler was the extension. It is now renamed to Color and not an extension anymore. You can access the Color themes from the Window menu or from the Swatches panel (click the little icon at the bottom of the panel).

Unable to view color themes in Kuler pannel

I am unable to view color themes in my Kuler pannel in Illustartor. It gives me an error saying: no color themes found in your account. How can I browse existing color themes?

What Reports version are you using (eg, 9.0.2.0.0)? Since you are running the Report Builder, please specify the iDS version, and not the iAS version. Also, what Operating System are you running on?

Why do the colours from Adobe Color Theme creation change when I try to use them?

I've been exploring the Adobe Color Theme creator in InDesign. There are the three tabs: Create, Explore, My Themes. In the create tab I can create a theme of colours, get the combination just right, and then save my new theme. However as soon as I save any colour out to the swatches, the colour changes! It's driving me nuts.
[Original Colour] -Colour it comes out as-
[green turquoise] -prussian blue-
[strong, bright red] -darkish orange-
[warm purple] -faded dark mauve-
My best guess was that maybe the colour profile of the document was set to CMYK and that the colour themes work in RGB, but as far as I can determine it's just "North America General Purpose 2" and the Working Spaces include both RGB and CMYK. Therefore I'm stumped. I do not have the expertise to figure out what is going on and these are significant colour changes to have a really strong, vibrant colour palette turn into something much more muted.
And if this piece of information is of any use, my yellow doesn't seem to change at all.
Any ideas please? I've tried searching for it, but maybe I'm not putting in the right combination of keywords. Hopefully I'm just being obtuse and someone will tell me to put a checkmark in a box somewhere.

There are some slight value changes between the Theme and the Swatches, but we're only talking a change of 1 or 2 and so the colours appear to stay true now. Total pain to have to do this extra little step every time. =)
a huge, glaring, and sloppy problem which really ought to be fixed by Adobe pronto.
You can batch change the color mode of swatches if you select all of the swatches and double click them. Or, you can simply leave the Lab values and let the conversion to the correct CMYK space happen when you export to PDF.
I'm guessing the fix won't be coming soon. The original Kuler app had the same color management problem. It's hard to see how they will fix it and keep Color Themes as a cloud based web app.
When you convert the Lab swatches the CMYK values you get will depend on the document's assigned profile, so if you make two document's with different profiles assigned you'll get different CMYK values when you convert the Lab values. Here is US SWOP vs US SNAP

How to use downloaded Adobe color theme (.ase) in Photoshop cc?

I can confirm this functions but there is no indication it's been successful and the swatches appear in the Swatches panel, *not* in the Libraries panel where I would expect them. My issue is that IMO this should not even be an issue, because a palette created on color.adobe.com should just show up in PS CC unless I'm not understanding the intended behavior.
Anyone?

Adobe Color CC color theme looks different in Illustrator

Whenever I import color themes from Adobe Color CC, they look different in Illustrator. The cmyk values are the identical but the colors just aren't the same. I guess it has something to do with my color settings in Illustrator but I can't figure out what it is. Here are my color settings:
I read Creative Suite * Keeping colors consistent and some other articles but couldn't figure it out...
What am I doing wrong?

That would be a real problem.
You're working with RGB colors on screen when you experiment. Browsers tend to not color manage anything so after the conversion what would you get?
On top of that: printing is different in each country, on each printer, on each paper, with each ink. You can't use the one conversion that suits all needs. Color management for this kind of world wide used web app would be really complicated. And I don't even think of all the people who don't know how to set it up correctly.

I'm trying to make a small adjustment to my color theme. If you have used X-Chat Aqua, you'll notice that in the Blue OS X color theme, highlighted tabs are in blue, and easily identified. However, when the color scheme is grey, highlighted tabs are in a slightly darker grey, so I have to tilt my display back and forth to tell which tab is the active one. I prefer the grey theme, but want to change the highlighting color of the active tab. This does not have anything to do with the highlighting color in the OS X settings as I already have that set to turquoise. Does anyone know how to change this? Someone suggested Magnifique, but that seems like it will only install a whole new color theme, not let me change individual settings as I desire. It seems as though I can create my own color scheme, but that I would have to start from scratch, when really I'd want to start with the OS X graphite theme, because that one works just fine for me, with the exception of the active tab color for certain applications. Anyone know how to solve this one?

Sharepoint Sites lost their defined color Themes

Hello All,
i have a MS Office Sharepoint Server 2007 deployed for years now. In the last two days the machine that hosts Sharepoint server had some SW issues and needed FW and Driver updates.
After upgrading the server, i noticed that i couldn't open any of my Sharepoint sites.
i was getting an error : "The website found, but you don't have permision to view it, you have to login" inspite the fact that i'm using the domain administrator account to login to these sites.
After reading many posts about it, i managed to overcome the error and now i have access again to all my sites.
Thing is that all of them returned to the default color theme (a light blue color) and despite the fact that i change it again to the desired Theme i want, they stay on the Default Theme. (i can see in the preview that the Theme is what i want, but when
i hit Apply, nothing happens).
Same thing happens if i open the site through the server itself and login as Domain Administrator.
Does anyone knows what causes this and how to resolve it? it doesn't affect functionality of the sites, but i would like to know how to sovle this.

Ok, i just soved the issue with the color Themes.
I run the Sharepoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard, as Soni K suggested, and now all sites returned to the colord i've defined for each one of them.
the issue with the Shared Services still stands...
if i try to Browse the Shared Services Site through IIS i get " The website declined to show this webpage"
This site requires you to log in
This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that this program was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.
Despite the fact that i'm logged in as domain Administrator.

Changing a color theme NAME??

I hit the little pencil icon for a color theme, and type in a new theme name. But it just snaps back to "My Kuler Theme".
I see other people have renamed this default theme name. But HOW???

Does the name that you are typing pass the following conditions ?
1. Characters allowed in theme name are : "A-Z a-z 0-9 _ & - space" .
2. Theme name must have atleast three characters.

Flickr Group RSS feed has incorrect dates in Mail - How do I fix this?

I since I've updated to Safari 3.1 RSS posts from Flickr group pools have had an incorrect 'Date Received'. Rather than the date they were added to the group pool (the date the RSS post was sent/received) new posts are now dated by the date the photo was uploaded, which could be significantly in the past. So my RSS mailbox is in completely the wrong order. I'm not 100% sure that this is down to the Safari 3.1 update, but it was definitely not a problem before I made the update.
I've checked on other RSS readers and they all work correctly. I also posted on the Flickr Help Forum (http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/69088/) and it would appear that others have had the same problem with Mail.
Any help would be much appreciated!

It appears the behavior is caused by iCloud pushing the information, to include the password, to Mail.
If I delete my iCloud account password and save the changes, the password reappears without me typing it in.
If I go to System Preferences/iCloud and uncheck the sync Mail box, my iCloud account in Mail disappears. When I recheck the sync Mail box, the account reappears, complete with password.
Based on my testing, you are stuck with things the way they are.
If you want to provide feedback to Apple, you can do that in Mail under the Mail menu.

Color themes and binding

I'm planning to use a color theme for my components in the scene.
I want to make live update of controls when the theme was changed.
I've designed a mechanism like:

This mechanism has some drawbacks. One is extensive use of bindings. The unvisible parts will be updated, too.
The other is that when I changed a skin manually:

I dont want any change on somePartColor because it is manually set, but I expect a change on somePartColor2 because it is not modified manually.
Again, the req. is that any change of theme and skin will be reflected to the view. What do you recommend about heavy use bindings and the situation about setting skin manually?

Another way is to use CSS, although currently CSS changes are not dynamic (and doesn't apply to dynamically created elements... :-().

I can't search, can't load anything. It's empty. To create my own scheme I had to go across a bit. It's not exporting anything with Opera 12, so I had to catch the link and open it in other browser. That's how I saved my palette, and I can load it. But that's all I can do with Color themes.
