Color warning in CS5

Hi, I just installed LR5 and use CS5. I was going to edit my first image from LR into CS5 and when I was going to save it, I got this message:
Are you sure you want to convert colors to a destination document with a color profile that does not match the current RGB working space?
Source: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Destination: Adobe RGB (1998)
Working: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
I did not change any settings in any of both programs. I have sRGB in LR and Photoshop. Why is it converting to Adobe RGB?
I have always used sRGB, because I mainly just show my photos in the internet. I know nothing about Color Profiles, but I do have my monitor calibrated with Spyder3.
Can anyone please explain why I am getting this message and how I can fix it??

Thank you very much for this tutorial! From what I learned, I think that the file is being converted/or was converted, to RGB in LR in some way. I just purchased LR5 and I think that when the catalogue was converted for use by LR5, the files might have been converted to RGB. My Lightroom working space is sRGB, my camera is also sRGB and I didn't have this problem before I upgraded, so it might be this. I guess I will have to click the option to convert to CS5's workspace option, so I don't receive this warning all the time.

Confused about Color Management in CS5 (Photos appearing differently in all other programs)

I recently noticed this and it's been driving me crazy; when I view photos in Photoshop CS5 they appear significantly lighter/more washed out than when viewed in other programs like Zoombrowser, Digital Photo Professional or just in a regular Windows folder using Filmstrip mode (Windows XP). When opening the same photo in both CS5 and Zoombrowser and switching back and forth between the two windows the difference is very apparent...for example, one of the photos I compared was of a person in a black shirt -- in CS5 (lighter/washed out) the folds in the shirt were very obvious, but in Zoombrowser (darker, more contrast/saturation) the folds were nearly invisible and it looked like just solid black. Now, after messing around with the settings in both Photoshop and in Zoombrowser I've found a few ways to get the photos to look the same in the two programs; one way gives them both the lighter/more washed out appearance and another way gives them both the darker appearance with more contrast and saturation. My problem is that I'm not sure which view is accurate.
I use a NEC MultiSync LCD1990SXi monitor with SpectraView II calibration software and calibrate it every 2 weeks using these calibration settings (screenshot): http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/8826/settingsx.jpg
In the SpectraView II Software under Preferences there's an option that says "Set as Windows Color Management System Monitor Profile - Automatically selects and associates the generated ICC monitor profile with the Color Management System (CMS)." This option is checked. Also, when I open the Windows' Color Management window there's only one option displayed, which is "LCD1990SXi #######" (the ####### represents my monitor's serial number).
I assume the above settings are all correct so far, but I'm not sure about the rest.

Changing these settings around doesn't seem to make the photo appear much different. However, when I go to Edit -> Assign Profile, then click off of "Working RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1" and instead click Profile and select "LCD1990SXi ####### 2011-06-21 18-30 D65 2.20" from the drop-down menu, the picture becomes darker with more contrast and saturation and matches the picture in Zoombrowser. Also, if I select "Adobe RGB (1998)" from the drop-down menu it's very similar in terms of increased darkness and contrast but the saturation is higher than with the LCD1990SXi setting. Another way I've found to make the image equally dark with increased contrast and saturation is to go to View -> Proof Setup -> Custom and then click the drop-down menu next to "Device to Simulate" and select "LCD1990SXi ####### 2011-06-21 18-30 D65 2.20" again.
Alternatively, to make both images equally light and washed out I can go to Zoombrowser -> Tools -> Preferences and check the box next to "Color Management: Adjust colors of images using monitor profile." This makes the image in Zoombrowser appear just like it does in CS5 by default.
Like I said, I'm confused as to which setting is the accurate one (I'm new to Color Management in general so I apologize for my ignorance on the subject).
It would seem that assigning the LCD1990SXi profile in CS5 would be the correct choice in order to match the monitor calibration given the name of the profile but the "Adjust colors of images using monitor profile" option in Zoombrowser sounds like it would do the same thing as well. Also, I've read that Photoshop is a color managed software whereas Zoombrowser and Windows Picture and Fax Viewer are not which makes me think that maybe the lighter/washed out version seen in Photoshop is correct. So which version (light or dark) is the accurate one that I should use to view and edit my photos? Thanks in advance for any help or info.

But before we go there or make any assumptions, it's important for
you to determine whether you're seeing consistent color in your
color-managed applications and only inconsistent color in those that are
not color-managed. For that you'll need to do a little research to see
if the applications in which you're seeing darker colors have
color-management capability (and whether it is enabled).
I opened the same picture in 7 different applications and found that the 6 of the 7 displayed the photo equally dark with equally high contrast when compared to the 7th application (CS5). The other 6 applications were Zoombrowser EX, Digital Photo Professional, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, Quicktime PictureViewer, Microsoft Office Picture Manager and Firefox.
However, at least two of these programs offer color management preferences and, when used, display the photo (from what I can tell) exactly the same as Photoshop CS5's default settings. The two programs are two Canon programs: Zoombrowser EX and Digital Photo Professional. Here's the setting that needs to be selected in Zoombrowser in order to match up with CS5 (circled in red):
And here's the setting in Digital Photo Professional that needs to be selected in order to match up with CS5 (again, circled in red):
*Note: When the option above "Monitor Profile" is selected ("Use the OS settings") the image is displayed exactly the same as when the monitor profile is selected. It's only when sRGB is selected that it goes back to the default darker, more contrasty version.
So with the red-circled options selected, all three programs (CS5, ZB, DPP) display the images the same way; lighter and more washed out. What I'm still having trouble understanding is if that ligher, more washed out display is the accurate one or not...I've read several tutorials for all three programs which only make things more confusing. One of the tutorials says to always use sRGB if you want accurate results and *never* to use Monitor Profile and another says that, if you're using a calibrated monitor, you should always select Monitor Profile under the color management settings...so I'm still lost, unfortunately.
What I also don't understand is why, when the monitor profile is selected in CS5, the image is displayed in the dark and contrasty way that the other programs display it as by default but when the monitor profile is selected in Digitial Photo Professional it displays it in the lighter, more washed out way that CS5 displays it using CS5's default settings (sRGB). Why would selecting the monitor profile in DPP display the photo the same way as when sRGB is selected in Photoshop? And vice versa...why would selecting the monitor profile in Photoshop display the photo the same way as when sRGB is selected in DPP?
I feel like I'm missing something obvious here...which I probably am. Again, I'm very new to this stuff so pardon my ignorance on the topic.
By the way, I find that the way that the non-color managed programs (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer et al.) display the photos is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than the duller, more washed out display that CS5 gives the photos, but ultimately what I want to see in these programs (especially PS5 where I'll be doing the editing) is the accurate representation of the actual photo itself...i.e. what it's supposed to look like and not a darker (or lighter) variant of it.
So just to reiterate my questions:
Why does selecting Monitor Profile under the color management settings in DPP give the same display results as the default sRGB profile in CS5 and vice versa? (CS5 with monitor profile selected having the same display results as DPP with the sRGB profile selected)
When using CS5 with it's default color management settings (sRGB), using DPP with the Monitor Profile selected, and using Zoombrowser EX with "Adjust color of images using monitor profile" selected this results in all three programs displaying the same lighter, washed-out images...is this lighter, more washed-out display of the images shown in these three programs the accurate one?
I noticed when opening an image in Firefox it had the same darker, contrasty look as the other non-color managed applications had. Assuming that the CS5 default settings are accurate, does this mean that if I edit a photo in CS5, save it, and upload it to the internet that other people who are viewing that image online will see it differently than how it's supposed to look (i.e. in a non-color-managed way?) If so, this would seem to indicate that they'd see a less-than-flattering version of the photo since if their browser naturally displays images as darker and more contrasty and I added more darkness and contrast to the image in CS5, they'd be seeing a version of the photo that's far too dark and probably wouldn't look very good. Is this something I have to worry about as well?
I apologize for the lengthy post; I do tend to be a bit OCD about these things...it's a habit I picked up once I realized I'd been improperly editing photos on an incorrectly calibrated monitor for years and all that time and effort had been spent editing photos in a certain way that looked good on my incorrectly calibrated monitor but looked like crap on everyone else's screen, so the length and detail of this post comes from a desire to not repeat similar mistakes by editing photos the wrong way all over again. Color problem in CS5

Hi, my setup is: Pentax K20/80-200,2.8 Star ED, dual studio flashes with semitransparent white umbrellas, X-rite color proofing card, CS5, Syncmaster 214T with Spyder2 for calibration and Epson R2400 with all the proper ICC profiles..
When trying to repro an artwork with many nuances, particulary blue, red and yellow, the red one will show properly. The red gets smeary and too red. The
artwork has a little more of blue in it but that does not show up in the print, just on screen. The difference from screen to paper is too big for my taste (calibrated
the day before). I've recently repaired the monitor with better quality capacitors to enhance performance.
I use glossy Epson paper. Also the blue seems to bleed when printed. Resolution of picture is 360dpi as recommended by Epson. I use "keep sharp edges"
when enlarging it from the original 240dpi. This has the effect of retaining the colors at least on screen. Sharp image = more pure colors.
Any clues as how to remedy this?

CS5.1. Bleeding meaning that it smears out and loosing details that I can see on screen. I've checked the nozzles and they perform ok in test. As said I calibrate using Spyder2express and also as said the monitor is Syncmaster 214T. Operating system WinXP Pro with SP3.
So what is the recommendation except for buying new equipment? What is the problem? When printing from jpg files I don't seem to have this problem. But saving artwork in jpg is not wanted due to lack of resolution.
I'm now testing seeting the camerta to sRGB and it seem the difference is smaller now. So we have a problem with the AdobeRGB from the camera and CS5 in combination with the printer.
BUT, when printing RGB areas from CS5, they print properly in color. Meaning that I can't interpret the situation since it looks contradictory.

As far as I know Photoshop can not open Zip files. If you unzip the zip archive and it contained PSD files. How do you know they were all saved on a XP system with Photoshop CS5 with max compatibility. The message you getting seem to be contradicting that.

Well, a few Effects, that might help - a little, would be Curves, Levels and Shadow & Highlight, along with the Three-way Color Corrector. However, the success will depend on the footage. Color picker out-of-gamut alert diferent to image gamut warning? (CS5)

I'm confused...
I'm editing an sRGB image. My custom proof condition is set to sRGB IEC, preserve numbers unchecked, intent PER or RC, BPC. Gamut warning is turned on.
I add some text and color it using the text color selector tool. I enable gamut warning in that and choose an out of gamut color such as #ff0000. I return to the image and the the text is *not* flagged as being out of gamut.
In fact *no* color flagged as OOG in the selector seems to be considered OOG once I return to the image with sRGB IEC selected, though they are when I select other devices to simulate.
Why the disparity between the image OOG warning and the selector tool? Is the tool using a different simulated device to that I've selected? Which should I believe?

Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're doing fully, since you're abbreviating a lot of important stuff...
What makes you think a color of #FF0000 is out of gamut in the condition you described - your document is in the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color space and you're proofing the same sRGB color space? Unless I'm missing something here, nothing could be out of gamut in that condition.
Do you see the expected gamut warning if you assign the Adobe RGB 1998 color profile to your document. In that color space the RGB value #FF0000 is out of gamut for the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 space you're proofing.

Acrobat Pro 9 will not color synchronize with CS5

Can anybody help with this issue. I am running the latest versions of CS5 Design Premium and all apps color sync fine from Bridge (and in bridge it says color is being synchronized) apart from Acrobat Pro. I have just updated to the latest version 9.3.3 but the issue remains. In the prefs panel in acrobat it states color is not being sychronized, whats more the colour settings don't seem to be sticky. I want to set to Europe prepress 3 but if I close Acrobat and open again it defaults to Europe prepress 2. Any choice in bridge has no affect in Acrobat. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, for the record I have deleted pref files and done an uninstall and reinstall with no effect.

I am having the same issue. I did some testing and deleted the preferences and that put the program back in sync. The issue still remains for me because when I select output preview the default profile is not the chosen profile for sync from bridge and Acrobat be comes un synchronized. I hope the issue is addressed with a workaround or update quickly.

Why is a color print from CS5 so different from the same image in CS4?

I have made prints from the same file using CS4 and CS5, and the prints from CS4 are showing what I think is good color. My monitor is calibrated, and I have always been quite happy with prints from CS4. When I make prints of the same files using CS5, the color is terrible compared to the CS4 print. I am using the same printer, same sRGB color space and all the settings in the "Print" dialog windows. I make sure the Color Handling box is set to "Photoshop Manages Colors" and I then go to the "Page Setup" box and make sure Color Settings is set to Off (No Color Adjustments). I am using a New MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB ram. I did notice that Apple Software Update did install Epson drivers after I installed CS5 Creative Suite 5 Design Premium. The color using CS5 looks the same starting in either 32 bit or in 64 bit. Another thing I notice is that printing on an Epson 2200 Stylus and using their 13x19 paper that the prints are being cropped to 5/8 inch into the full screen size of the images. I.E. The prints are losing 5/8 inch of what I see on the 30" Apple monitor. in both dimensions of the screen image. This cropping effect is showing now using CS4 and CS5. I have "Position" checked for Center Image, and Scale to Fit Media is also checked. I've been using PS since version 2 and have always been quite happy with the prints from my Epson printers and the prints from my Photo Lab, but the prints I am getting using CS5 are terrible. All the settings are the same in both the CS4 and CS5 "PRINT" windows.

I have tried all of these things. I have checked and double-checked the print dialog. Sheet after sheet of paper goes by. Ink, at $40 per tank, is wasted. Results are still wrong. I followed your video. You use an Epson printer. I use an HP. Different print dialogs. different results. Whatever worked in previous PS versions does not work now. PS CS5 requires new settings to get the results that match what was determined by years of evolution and fine-tuning.
I set up all of those print dialog parameters but it required an adjustment layer or two to get the results I got using previous Photoshop. So I could do that with every image I printed with good results using previous versions. There is nothing out of gamut in these images, so I don't have unrealistic expectations about more saturation in the prints. Anyway, it's an 8-color printer that can handle a pretty wide gamut compared to a 4-color.
Wade, I know you are trying to help but this finger-wagging "error in your ways" and "you need to change your ways" stuff is patronizing. I did "change my ways" and try everything in your video. All was not well on the paper. I'm glad it worked out for you but it didn't for me. Accept it. I'm not some novice hobbyist still getting the hang of Photoshop. I've been using Photoshop since version 2. Adobe changed something in CS5. I haven't seen Chis Cox or any Adobe staffer jump into this discussion and say otherwise. Maybe there are no answers from the folks who should know the most about it. Maybe they're working on it.
It's not the first time Adobe has broken a tool. Anyone remember what happened to Outline Stroke in Illustrator CS2? It had previously made a path that could be edited by selecting points but after CS2, it was broken. Illustrator made a filled path that was nearly impossible to edit with all of the overlapping points. It was finally fixed in CS4. It's hard to understand how a useful tool that functioned properly in every version since it was introduced became an unusable mess. Maybe that's the case with PS CS5 and printing.
With 4,300+ posts in 14 months, maybe Wade has more time to tinker and tell us about it. I don't.
Or I could just print in CS4. At this point it's not that important to spend several days of testing to be able to say that CS5 can print my legacy stuff that was created and printed with various color profiles over a 12 year period. Maybe a more disciplined approach to color management would be a good way to work in the future when creating images, I'm dealing with tried-and-true printable images that were not done that way.
As long as Adobe doesn't make me give up CS4 to use CS5, I'll use it for printing.

Severe color issues in CS5, EizoCG245W monitor, calibrated...help!

I'm working with an entirely new system here from the ground up. New computer with Windows 7, Eizo ColorEdge CG245W monitor and Photoshop CS5 (I had previously been using CS3 on my old system/monitor). Everything was hooked up within the last couple of days and PS installed as well.
The problem I am having is that when I open an image in PS, it is severely dull and desaturated looking (esp in the reds, yellows and oranges).
The "color settings" I am using are correct for the lab I print at. I am using sRGB.
Thing is, when I view the image in My Pictures or on the Web (IE or Firefox) or in Microsoft Office Picture Manager....the image looks correct and the same as my lab test prints.
But if I view the image in either CS5 or Windows Photo Viewer, I get that horrible dull/desaturated look.
I should mention as well that my monitor is calibrated...I did that yesterday upon getting everything hooked up. When I am in CS5 and choose "Assign Profile"...if I choose the monitor profile generated by the calibrator (mine is CG245W (22547100) Photography, Graphic Design) then the image looks correct and all of the colors are saturated nicely. But, obviously, I cannot choose this as my working space or color profile!!!
What is going on? It's almost as if there is a problem with Windows not recognizing the calibrated profile or something...but I am unable to fix this and I NEED it fixed asap!!!

Is it possible that what you perceive as "correct" is actually oversaturated?
I'm not familiar with that monitor... Is it a wide gamut monitor? If so, you'd expect sRGB to look less saturated than the same images displayed in non-color-managed applications.
You do realize that images displayed in IE 8 and earlier, and many other photo viewing applications, are not displayed through a color-management system, right? These are not color-managed applications. Photoshop is. Also, assigning the monitor profile to your image essentially shuts color management off.
What you're saying is essentially that you like what you see when color is not managed.
Assuming no unexpected glitch, such as a bad profile, all seems to hinge on what color space the monitor is delivering, and whether it was delivering that same color when calibrated.
How did you calibrate/profile it, specifically?

Can I get the Apple Color Picker in CS5 Windows?

HI -
I'm a lifetime Mac and long time PShop user transplanted into a Windows shop. Of all the things that I miss on my new workplace platform, the Apple Color Picker is the one that I encounter most often.
Is there a plug-in, an extension, is there some way, ANY WAY, that I could have the Apple CP to use on a Windows version of CS5?? It might seem like a trivial issue to Windows users but to a transplanted Mac user - it's a major one.

You probably already know your choices, as provided by Photoshop on a Windows system, are only Adobe and Windows per the Edit - Preferences - General tab.
It may be possible some 3rd party could have invented an Apple Color Wheel work-alike, but I have never run across one. Try a Google search for:
color wheel picker Photoshop windows
Such a search turns up stuff like:

If you don't find one you like, you're probably best off just trying to get used to the Adobe color picker; it will afford you some system-independence for the future, should you switch back to Mac.

JPG and TIFF colors in Bridge CS5 way off, but fine in Photoshop

Just started happening, but not sure if it was after updating to Bridge 4.0.3 or Camera RAW 6.2. The colors for RAW and PSD files are fine in Bridge, but all JPGs and TIFFs colors are blown out and way off. Opening the JPG or TIFF in Photoshop looks fine though. Anyone else having this issue, or know how to fix it?
Update: If I set the "Develop Settings" in Bridge CS5 to "Camera Raw Defaults" for the JPGs/TIFFs that are displaying improperly, the colors and tones go back to normal, but if I "Clear Settings" everything turns to crap again.

PLEASE help save my sanity and my reputation! --I have spent the last five days exhausting every possible solution to this debilitating issue. I have spent countless hours perusing the web for a solution, spent 4 hours yesterday with Adobe customer support and yet, there is no solution to be found. My issue is that the color (in every file format NEF, JPEG, PSD) completely changes color and desaturates in every one of the adobe products: Photoshop CS5, Camera RAW 6.2, Lightroom 3.2. -
Everything was working fine, and then out of no where my productivity has come to a crashing halt. This is the steps I have taken to this point:
-Uninstalling/re-installing all of the software
-Purging anything that can be purged.
-Changing color profiles
-Resetting defaults
-Resetting preferences
-Installing updated drivers for monitor, video cards
-rollling back drivers for monitor, video cards
-monitor recalibration
**and finally, today...I set the monitor up on another computer, OS windows xp, and to my complete surprise, the issue persists even on another pc with completely different hardware.
-I am at my wits end with this. I have clients ringing my phone off the hook. This is crazy!
-I have sent out for another monitor as a last ditch effort to see if something is wrong with the monitor.
PLEASE, if anyone has a solution please let me know. Apparently, the folks at Adobe are just as perplexed by these issues as we are, as I have found numerous posts on forums throughout the Internet with this same issue---and yet none of the post every found a solution.

CS6 misunderstands color in edited CS5 NEF raw files: too purple

I got Photoshop CS6 Extended from Creative Cloud. I got a problem with how CS6 handles the color info from files edited with CS5. I spent time searching the web for answers but am afraid I did not find any. Please help!
In CS6, my CS5 files look too purple. (Or you may call it too magenta or too blue.)
How can I get CS6 to correctly understand the color information of raw NEF files previously edited with CS5?
CS6 reads my previously edited NEF (Nikon Raw) files with a purple tint. The purple shows up in Bridge thumbnails, Bridge Previews, Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw, and Photoshop itself. If I process the raw (NEF) file with Image Processor, the JPEG produced is still purple. So, CS6 is consistent but not correct!
The appended Apple Preview screenshot shows the difference in the JPEGs made with CS5 and CS6.
(1) Top Red: CS5 JPEG from image processor.
(2) Middle Purple: CS6 JPEG from image processor. It looks purple in Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop.
(3) Bottom Red: Nikon Raw file as seen by Apple Preview.
I append an example of what my files look like in CS6 Bridge. Each pair of images should look the same, but CS6 makes the NEF raw images look purple. The left is the raw NEF file and the right is the JPEG that was produced from the raw file. There is no visible difference between NEF and JPEG images in CS5.
The same purple result can also be found in Lightroom 4.

This is a known problem and Adobe employee MadManChan2000 created V3 beta profiles for Nikon D3, D300 and D700. It appears the V3 profiles have not actually made it into a LR release yet, but you can download them and install them into LR to see if they make a difference:

For the most accurate Lightroom camera profiles I can highly recommend the Color Checker Passport by X-Rite. Every camera body's image sensor has its own unique color profile, so any "canned" profile is a compromise at best. The ColorChecker Passport also helps you to more accurately establish and set your White Balance in LR.

Code Coloring, ASP/VBScript, & CS5

My IT area has set up the web server to process all .HTM files as if they were .ASP. Subsequently, I cannot view my HTM files as they would appear if they were "true" ASP files in Dreamweaver CS5. I applied the changes described in TechNote 16410 to MMDocumentTypes.xml (removing the HTM extension from the winfileextension and macfileextension attirbutes of the HTML InternalType and adding the HTM extension to the winfileextension and macfileextension attirbutes of the ASP-VBScript InternalType). I moved HTM in Extensions.txt from the HTML Documents line to the Active Server Pages line and I removed the backup I had made of MMDocumentTypes.xml from the Adobe directory.
Based on another posting in this forum regarding code coloring, I added <%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT"%> to the first line of my HTM (ASP) file.
No matter which file with the HTM extension I open in Dreamweaver, I get this message:
When this happens also I need to terminate Dreamweaver using Windows XP's Task Manager. File > Close, application "close" [X] button, Ctrl+Q and Alt+F4 do not work.

As far as I know (could be wrong here), DW does not allow you to alter the behavior of htm(l) files. The technote is aimed at adding new file types that DW doesn't already recognize.

Color space AE CS5 Versus AE CS4 = !#%%$

I'm trying to export HD uncompressed 10-bit with color space HDTV (rec.709) clips of VFXs footage that were done on AE CS5.
My main project file to which I want to integrate them in on AE CS4 which I am using (the AE CS5 render are made by someone else that has it).
My project file settings is in HDTV (rec.709) 16bit with mostly cineform clips, but with a few other VFXs shot that were renderer in HD uncompressed without problems (using CS4). I plan to them export my main project into HD uncompressed
We tried to batch of export:
First one was done in CS5 with HDTV (rec.709) in export settings but the project settings wasn't set to HDTV (rec.709) by the VFXs guy.
When I imported those clips in my CS4 main project there was difference in color (more golden) and blacks (more crushed).
You can it with the blacks's difference on the girl's hair and the side planel of the plane and the golden is less ovious on the picture quality but you see it a bit on the woman's face.
I then proceeded to check color space, and it was imported by default by AE in sRGB IEC611966-2.1.
I then changed it to HDTV rec.709 using interpret footage; it was a closer match, but not quite.
I then noticed that all my project's clips, including the HD uncompressed one that I rendered (under CS4) from work done by another VFX artist, were all in HDTV rec.709 YCrCb, but the the imported clips I was trying to match were in HDTV rec.709 only with no YCrCb mention afte them.
I talked with film's colorist and VFXs artist that worked with those projct file from which all the problematic shots comes (because problem is isolated to project file this person worked on), because we both over our head in color space territory.
We came up the the possible solution that the project setting might have been altered for quicker workflow and not set rigth again.
We checked and color space wasn't set in setting; colorsit suggested that if it's not set in settings no mather if you set it in your export settings, AE won't allow it and that's why it might have forced RGB, hence the sRGB IEC611966-2.1. It was in 32bit float instead of 16 bit, so that's ok, we initialy suggestedthat it might have been reduced to 8bit for quicker workflow.
After this, we proceded to re-render in CS5, bu we found a weird thing that we both don't realy grasp.
After he did the 2nd render (in CS5 still), he tried importing clips with old ones, to compare them to my unafected originals clips, in my CS4 project that he converted in CS5. It was worst. He then switched off the "blend color using 1.0 gamma"; which my project file didn't have on in CS4. The files are in 32bit float and color space was HDTV (rec.709), but since it's not embed in HD uncompressed files he set them manualy after importing them.
The OLD render batch was matching, but not the NEW ones.
Then he tried importing both render batch in the original project file he exported them from, and it was the NEW batch that now matched.
He's now doing test in my main project file in CS4 which is were I'd ultimately like it to work in,
but if anyone could gives us pointer as to why this is happening and how to make it match with no hassly tat would be great help.

You've lost me, honestly, but obviously you seem to be close to the solution. Your colorist is mistaken, though, about how AE handles color profiles. It doesn't discard or enforce profiles, it really seems you just forgot to carry them somewhere. Also, since these are different machines, maybe a specific profile was not available. eitehr it was never installed or it is blocked due to permission issues...

Strange posterization/color banding effect (CS5.1/CS6)

Stumbled over a strange effect with only one of my photos:
As usual, I made basic development on a DNG file in Lightroom 4.1RC2. Then, again as usual, I select "edit in Photoshop" in the context menu in the library grid. Both Photoshop CS5.1 and CS6 open the DNG and show me an image where I can clearly see strong posterization in the blues.
I save the psd file and go back to LR4: When I let LR4 display the psd, everything looks allright, as if there never was posterization! Looks like the original dng! Tried to apply different color spaces, reducing bit depth, no success.
Only cure for me at the moment is to open the dng in Photoshop and then switch to 16 bit mode... First thought it's somehow a LR4 issue, but on the other hand, LR4 displays the psd file correctly, Photoshop doesn't...

OK, so the problem is something in the GPU color conversion path.
That could be a driver bug, a GPU limitation (some older cards don't interpolate correctly, and fail to say so in the driver), a problematic display profile, or a bug in the Photoshop GPU display code.
Since this happened in 5.1 and 6, I'd bet on one of the first 3 items.
Which GPU/video card are you using?
Which GPU driver version?
(you can look in Help->System Info for that)
Can you post your display profile somewhere so we can take a look?
And what profile are you using for your documents?
