Color Won't Start On My G5 - What's Up

Folks, I cannot get Color to start on my machine. I've turned off the "enable video desktop" in my BlackMagic (6.3) prefs. When I launch Color, it just hangs.
Apple G5 Dual 2 GHz/ 4 GB RAM/ ATI Radeon x800 XT/ Blackmagic Decklink Extreme (software version 6.3)

Sounds to me like you are trying to tap on the word VIDEO.
To change to video you don't tap on the word VIDEO. Instead, you drag the centre of the screen down. That will change the option from PHOTO to VIDEO.
Of course, to go back to PHOTO or to SQUARE you drag the centre of the screen up.

My mac won't start up no matter what

So basically, I tried to download the new leopard on my mac and then since it took so long I tried to quit it. Then I restarted my mac a lot and like, it just screwed up and won't log in or anything after I restarted. The cd won't eject. It just stayed on the gray screen with the apple icon and the spinning pinwheel. I left it like that for a week or so. Then one day I turned it on and the cd popped out but it was still on the gray screen.
But it's been about 1 MONTH and it still won't work. It's still always on that stupid gray screen with the apple icon. Please someone help me!!!!!!

Interrupting an OS install is likely to end up with no workable OS, new or old, left on the drive. Have you tried booting from your OSX CD and repairing the drive with Disk Utility? You can also try starting up in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and then restarting in normal mode if that works.

I downloaded Firefox 3.6.3 and now Mozilla won't start at all. What happened?

I downloaded Firefox 3.6.3.exe, opened it, it appeared on my Start menu. I click the icon there and nothing happens. Absolutely no connection.

Color Won't Start

Hi there.
I just got final cut studio 2. Once i finished installing I launched Final Cut Pro and it worked. But when I launched color, it didn't work. I looked at Console and found this.

The point is this, the GMA's on MacBooks and MacMinis are not supported in Color.

Fcp won't start up, No Matter What I Try

FCP hops once on the dock as I click it, then sits like a lame duck. Tried all the usual stuf, prefs, plugins, new account. So far zippo. Am installing from disc now, not much hope thugh. A small disaster.
Anyone?

If you've already tried the usual suspects then a full Final Cut Studio uninstall first (using FCS Remover), maybe followed by a Safe Boot and Permissions repair for good measure then reinstall Final Cut Studio ... if nothing else it will make you feel like you are doing something!

Help! Computer won't start

Hi!
I have an iMac. All of a sudden it started going really slow while browsing the internet. I shut it down, and now it won't start.
Here's what happens:
Grey screen
Apple logo
Spinning wheel
blue screen
Spinning wheel
that's it. Does anyone know what I can do? I tried zapping the ram with PR-CMN-OPT. Didn't work.

Can you boot from your Install DVD? Just after the language panel comes up and you select English for example, go into Tools -> Disk Utility and take a look to see if your internal hard disk shows up in the left column. If it does, Verify Permissions, Verify Disk, Repair etc.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Hi!! You should try the recovery feature in W7. Some times it can be accessed through safe mode. On my model it's easier to use the system repair disc. You can find out how to create that here.

These are basic things you need to know if your going to own a Toshiba laptop.
PS Some day I'm going to convince staff to make a sticky of these things; which would cut their work in half, but then I wouldn't have any thing to do.
Here's what the recovery looks like. You have 5 options to help you. The Dos option can really help if you are familiar with Dos. In Dos you can do a chkdsk---sfc /scannow--- and a whole lot more. Start with the Repair option first and work your way down.

I Have seen people report this issue when they try to sync their devices but in never seen it when trying to restore an unresponsive iPad. I would sguggest trying recovery mode now.

This procedure will totally erase the iPad so I hope that you have a backup that you can restore from....assuming that it works, that is.

Suddenly, firefox won't start. I get no error message--it just won't open. System restore to a month before the problem did not help.

I would like to not lose all my bookmarks. And I would like to continue using Firefox.

Before I received your response, I tried something that seems to have worked. I used Chrome to go to the Firefox website and downloaded Firefox (without uninstalling it first) and went through the installation process again. For some reason, this worked, even though I already had the latest version of Firefox, and I can now open Firefox successfully.
If it stops working again, I will try your suggestion. In the meantime, thank you much!

This happened on Windows 7 in 2012 and was eventually fixed.

Well, the computer stopped starting up at all. It could never find the operating system. I tried safe mode and virtually every other non-standard start-up option. I then did target disk mode with another MBP and got the message: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." I then tried using disk utility and it couldn't retrieve retrieve the data using restore (writing to an external drive). I suspect that this means the hard drive would need to be replaced. In your expert opinions, is this necessarily true? Could this still be just a software problem, or perhaps some other piece of hardware?
Part of the reason I ask is that this laptop is now nearly five years old. It's needed a new battery for two years. If it's a virtual certainty that the hard drive is toast, I don't want to pay $150 for someone to take it out and try to recover any remaining data from it, only to reveal that the data is indeed irretrievable (since the computer itself is probably only worth $300-400 at this point). The nearest Genius Bar is also more than 2 hours away. Am I going about this the right way by using disk utility, given that the hard drive won't mount to the desktop of the other computer? If the hard drive can't be reat in target disk mode, does that confirm that it is the hard drive?

Oh also, it does still make the startup noise, even though I can't run the AHT since I can't get it to start up in safemode. I thought this mean that it passing various hardware tests. Does this not apply to the hard drive?

There are four general causes of this issue:
1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from the hard drive's location.
