Color XML oddities

I have been working on a 50-minute project in color for over a week without difficulty. A few days ago some changes were made to the final cut and I easily reconformed my color project to the new XML exported from FCP. No issues seemed to result from this reconform.
Today, however... shots are missing inexplicably, with large gaps in my Color timeline where shots should be. When I try to reconform to the correct XML Color screws up the order of the shots, importing random shots here and there while also leaving the gaps empty.
The media directory has not changed at all...
Also, after reconforming to a new XML Color crashes if I try to play. Color also crashes if I try to import the color-corrections from my project into a new project based on the same exact sequence from Final Cut.
I get these messages from Console regarding these crashes:
6/16/09 8:16:50 PM System Preferences[271] CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary.
6/16/09 8:16:51 PM com.apple.launchd[146] ([0x0-0x20020].com.apple.color[210]) Exited abnormally: Bus error
I also get errors regarding Color's attempt to reconnect with the shots in my Color project upon reconforming:
6/16/09 3:38:58 PM [0x0-0x7f07f].com.apple.color[1181] ftconformapply: error couldn't find shot with id 365
6/16/09 3:38:58 PM [0x0-0x7f07f].com.apple.color[1181] ftconformapply: error couldn't find shot with id 366
6/16/09 3:38:58 PM [0x0-0x7f07f].com.apple.color[1181] ftconformapply: error couldn't find shot with id 367
Anybody have any clues as to what the problem could be? Everything was working fine until today..
-Evan

Reconform is 2 parts A Great Idea and 3 parts Voodoo.
Some users have great Voodoo and never have problems. I have bad Voodoo (or is it juju) and never have anything but problems (except on a timeline I reconformed last week that worked surprisingly well and saved me about an hour).
When I find myself in your situation (which used to happen frighteningly frequently) I just start from scratch. First, if you can keep your original Color project open long enough - save out representative grades starting from beginning all the way through to end (you could save them all, but I find that tedious - I prefer pulling the representative ones and then tweaking as necessary when re-applying).
Then from your lastest FCP timeline Send To Color and start re-applying those saved grades.
OR - spend the next day trouble-shooting this and then, after all else has failed, do the above.

  • Cs3 color setting xml file location ( colors.xml )

    In previous versions of dreamweaver ( or previous to windows
    vista ) I was able to access this file via documents and settings
    and then into the macromedia subfolders.
    It contained the file colors.xml which held my code coloring
    preferences.
    Any idea where that file would be in CS3 adn Vista?

    I haven't created any custom colours, but Vista search found
    this for me
    in seconds:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS3\configuration\CodeColoring\Colors.xml
    I presume that if an individual user creates a set of custom
    colours,
    the XML file will be in the Roaming folder.

  • Color scheme colors.xml in DW CC

    Hi,
    I could change the default colors.xml that DW CS6 would use - but cannot locate this file with CC version.
    Has it been moved ??
    Thanks.
    DW CC v13 b6391
    OSX 10.8.4

    Hello,
    in all my DW and the newer CC versions this "Colors.xml"  (C is always written with a capital letter) is situated in:  "Adobe Dreamweaver CS...\configuration\CodeColoring".
    For the search I used my file manager's file finder.

  • Import code coloring xml and code snippets into dreamweaver cc 2014

    How do I import my code coloring xml file and code snippets from the earlier version of dreamweaver into cc 2014?

    Thanks, Preran. After uninstalling the 2014.1 update and reinstalling the previous version, I now installed the 2014.1 update again. Instead of jumping straight into restoring the preferences, I decided to test it out as-is, and it worked! No problems with pasting after opening any of my five browsers. I wonder what may have gone wrong the first time...or what was corrected during the uninstall/reinstall process. In any case, it is working again now and I am grateful. Thanks!

  • Color XML Data Not Importing Into FCP

    When I finish rendering my clips in color and I send them to FCP, FCP says importing XML data and the progress bar stays at 50% and doesn't move. Anybody have any clue on what to do??

    You will have to troubleshoot the round trip for something illegal that you exported from the FCP timeline. A hung return XML indicates that it has corrupted because of an ambiguous instruction that COLOR hasn't been able to understand -- it may not even have anything to do with the media and how its constructed on the timeline.
    Unfortunately, the number of things that this could be is a somewhat lengthy list. You didn't encounter any obstacles with strange things happening on the COLOR timeline, apparently. Without the actual FCP timeline and what kinds of things are stacked on it -- impossible to say.
    But here's an example of a known behavior: A graphic still (like a Jpg) with a filter or effect applied to it will cause the rest of the media on the remaining timeline to be lost. It just won't come back on the FCP timeline, as opposed to hanging the import. Stuff like that, that doesn't usually get discussed under the "just hit the easy button" workflow.

  • DW CC – Advanced Code Coloring XML

    Does DW CC support the CodeColoring.xml file, or has this been replaced with something new?
    For example: With earlier versions I could color all attributes independently as follows:
    File: CodeColoring.xml

    In recent versions of Dreamweaver, changes to code colouring and similar configuration changes need to be made in your personal configuration folder, not in the main configuration folder.

  • Artifacts showing up in my file-- send to--- color XML workflow

    I lurked these forums, couldn't find anything covering this issue.
    I am kicking out my picture lock from FCP to Color using the file -> send to-> Color utility.
    When Color opens up, with my XML data in the timeline the image in my viewport ends about 100 pixels from my frame. the remaining 100 pixels are artifacts generated by taking the final pixel in every row and repeating them to edge of my 2048x1024 frame, looking like a stretch filter was applied on it in After Effects.
    These are not in my 2k prores HQ clips in FCP.
    My project settings look okay.
    Where should i start trouble shooting this?
    The clips are Apple Prores HQ 24fps
    thanks in advance, folks.

    What video card are you using?
    On the project I just wrapped I noticed the same thing when pulling up still stores. The bottom 100 pixels or so seemed to have come from a previous image. Toggling the still store on/off fixed the issue. But every time I pulled up a new image on the SS I'd have to toggle it to fix.
    This happened on both a ProRes and a DVCPro HD workflow.

  • New Send to Color/XML problem

    Well new to me anyway. Maybe someone has seen this and can help me get around it. I finished an edit and sent the 85 shot sequence to Color. The sequence has only video clips in it with no filters, no off-speed shots, nothing but dissolves between shots. When Color finishes importing the sequence at the head of the timeline there is one big long clip that's not the right shot and it's the same 3 seconds of video over and over. It looks like part of the XML made it to Color because there are dissolve icons laid over this big clip where they are in Final Cut. After that in the Color timeline are the rest of the shots in the sequence from Final Cut. I tried breaking the sequence in half and sending that to Color but I got the same results with a different big long clip (and the dissolves) at the head of the timeline. Anyone seen this one? Help is appreciated.

    I went back to FCP and removed all dissolves from my sequence and in doing so I noticed there was a clip that had the speed set to 99%, somehow "remove atributes" missed that. I re-sent to Color and everything seems to be working just fine now.
    Hey Apple an update to this awesome software would be much appreciated, Soundtrack Pro2 too.

  • How do I change the default color scheme in Dreamweaver CS6?

    Hi All
    I just updated to CS6 on my work computer from CS5 on my personal computer (preferences and stuff were not transferred), and I'm trying to figure out how I can import my custom color scheme that I was using in CS5. In CS5 I was able to replace the Colors.xml file instead of going through each individual color option. I haven't had the same success with CS6.
    In CS5 the Colors.xml file was located at this path (Mac)
    /Users/%name%/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5/%localization(en_US)%/Configuration/CodeColoring
    The problem with CS6 is that there is no Dreamweaver CS6 folder at that path after "Adobe/"
    Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solutions? Looking at code on a white background is hurting my eyes!

    Do you think this maybe has to do with Mountain Lion?
    Here's a screenshot of no Dreamweaver CS6 folder in Library/../..
    And no, it's not in the "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium" folder either. I keep going through all of the folders hoping the Dreamweaver cs6 folder will show up, but nothing! Thanks for your help guys. If you think of anything else, please respond!

  • Change color of ColdFusion comments in Dreamweaver CC 2014

    Hi All,
    I've recently discovered Sublime Text 2, and really like their code coloring theme.  90% of my work still needs to be done in Dreamweaver.  I was able to find a Colors.xml file I could use, that got it very close to looking like sublime text.  The only real problem are ColdFusion comments.
    I changed this line in the XML C:\Users\{me}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2014\en_US\Configuration\
    <syntaxColor id="CodeColor_CFCommentText" text="#585835" bgcolor="#434343" /> from the original ffff99 bright yellow background, but after restarting Dreamweaver, the ColdFusion comments are still lite color text on this bright yellow background.  Horrible.
    It seems Dreamweaver CC 2014 removed a lot of ColdFusion options, sad.  Many of us still use it for Front-End work, while ColdFusion Builder works better for back-end.
    I really hope there is a way to get a dark color theme into Dreamweaver for ColdFusion.
    Any suggestions?

    What Adobe has done is blindly pull the rug right out from under our feet. Dreamweaver has been the one and only application I and thousands of others have used to code, design and FTP websites for years. Some of us have been using Dreamweaver as far back as when Allaire built it specifically to help ColdFusion developers. Dreamweaver offered ColdFusion tag support, a design view when needed, and an efficient way to FTP files.
    It seems what Adobe is telling us now is that Dreamweaver is some how not the right application for developing ColdFusion websites, but oddly enough the correct one for PHP developers. The only reason I can see that Adobe stripped the support for ColdFusion within Dreamweaver is to sell us CF Builder... which is suspiciously missing from any Creative Cloud subscription. Otherwise there was no real reason to pull support from ColdFusion within Dreamweaver. It is simple greed.
    The reality for a lot of developers is that we can barely pay the Creative Cloud subscription fees every month, much less purchase a whole new program just because Adobe has forced our hand. Adobe needs to reestablish ColdFusion support in Dreamweaver or, based on what I have read in many forums, they will be losing a lot of customers. There are a lot of CF developers looking for an alternative to all of Adobe's products because of this "slap in the face" and I am sure there are companies out their already looking at this enormous opportunity.
    I, for one, am looking at other programs to replace everything I use from Adobe because I feel betrayed. Adobe may think they own the market but I am afraid they are going to learn the hard way. If you try to force the growth of the bottom line at the expense of ignoring your customers, you will fail. If you put your customers needs first, the bottom line will follow. Has history taught you nothing?

  • How can i import my color editing from apple color to fcp x

    Hello mates,
    I edited my project in FCPX 10.0.8 than i export XML file and open it with DaVinci Resolve to export it again for Apple Color. So far so good no problem. I edit my color in that program but when i said send to final cut pro it was opening with the old projects. I mean i can't see my color editing in that project. I can't figure out how can i import that file in fcp x. I tried to export an XML from color, but i couldn't open it with Davinci nor FCPX.
    So i will be very glad if you help me..

    FCPX does not read Color XML exports. You would need to export the finished footage in Color and reimport that into X. Resolve is free and offers a far more integrated workflow with X than Color ever will (as it's long been discontinued).

  • Code Coloring does not stick

    The changes I make in the Preferences section under Code Coloring do not always stick. I even tried replacing the Colors.xml file with someone else's theme. That does not come through. I replaced it both under my Configuration/Code Coloring folder  which appears under Applications as well as my User folder.
    I don't understand why some of the changes take and others not. Should there not be an easier way to do this??
    Any clues as to how I can make the new (external) Colors.xml stick would be appreciated.

    CS5. And I should say, the instructions given on the Adobe site  on how to swap out the colors.xml file indicate a folder that doesn't exist. There is no Preferences folder. It's Configurations.

  • SetPixel in flash using xml....?

    Hi ,
    I have tried this in flash i got the result but now i am trying to change the color of the bitmap using setpixel values using xml.
    First i am creating a new bitmap and then i have a button when i click on the button the pixel values or the color of the bitmap should be changed.
    script for creating a bitmap:
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    var myBitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(100, 80, false, 0x00CCCCFF);
    var mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    mc.attachBitmap(myBitmapData, this.getNextHighestDepth());
    Script on the button:
    on (release) {
        for (var x:Number = 0; x<50; x++) {
            for (var y:Number = 0; y<10; y++) {
                myBitmapData.setPixel32(x, y, 0x11FF00);
            for (var y:Number = 11; y<20; y++) {
                myBitmapData.setPixel32(x, y, 0xCCFF00);
            for (var y:Number = 21; y<50; y++) {
                myBitmapData.setPixel32(x, y, 0x11FFEE);
    Now i just want to change the color of the bitmap using setpixel using xml and calling the xml into flash.

    Hi kglad,
    Well i am confused, I am searching that how would be the attributes for setpixel in xml file?How can we assign setpixels from xml.
    for example when we load a dynamic data into flash which has three dynamic texts "name_txt,count_txt,type_txt" and when we click on the button "rb_btn" xml data will be loaded into the three dynamic text fields.  So below is my code in xml and in flash.
    script in xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Books>
    <Book name="Harry Potter" count="1" type="Asian"/>
    </Books>
    script on first frame:
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    var myBitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(100, 80, false, 0x00CCCCFF);
    var mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    mc.attachBitmap(myBitmapData, this.getNextHighestDepth());
    var myXML:XML = new XML();
    myXML.ignoreWhite = true;
    rb_btn.onRelease = function(success) {
            var bookName = myXML.firstChild.childNodes[0].attributes.name;
            var bookCount = myXML.firstChild.childNodes[0].attributes.count;
            var bookType = myXML.firstChild.childNodes[0].attributes.type;
            name_txt.text = bookName;
            count_txt.text = bookCount;
            type_txt.text = bookType;
    myXML.load("colors.xml");
    So we are assigning a name in xml called "name="Harry Potter" "we are calling it flash as
    "var bookName = myXML.firstChild.childNodes[0].attributes.name;" And my question is how or what is the process to write a code for setPixel in xml and calling  it into flash.

  • Code Coloring - black background

    Has somebody Dreamweaver 8 configured to use black background
    in Code Editor? If so, please distribute the ColorCodings XML files
    somewhere.
    Thank you very much
    cs

    If you are comfortable manually editing Registry/Preferences
    and raw
    XML, then try this:
    1. Shutdown DW
    2. Edit Configuration/CodeColors/Colors.xml and do a global
    change of
    "#000000" (black) to "#FFFFFF" (white).
    Note: be sure to edit Colors.xml in your User (not
    Application)
    Configuration folder. This TechNote explains the difference:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_16420
    3. (On Windows) Using regedit, go to:
    \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Tag
    Colors
    Change all "#000000" (black) values to "#FFFFFF" (white)
    Change "Background Color" to "#000000"
    Close regedit
    4. Restart DW.
    You may need to tweak a few settings in Code Coloring editor,
    but that
    should get you most of the way there.
    Hope this helps,
    Randy

  • Dreamweaver 2014.1 html atributes color coding

    This latest version messed up color coding for HTML (notice the HTML tags attributes):
    Is this the default now? No way to revert back to the way it was until version 2014?
    Thanks

    Another solution is to use Colors.xml from Dreamweaver CS6 or CC2014 and overwrite the one from CC2014.1.
    I installed Dreamweaver CS6 and copied the file from:
    Applications ▸  Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 ▸ Configuration ▸ CodeColoring ▸ Colors.xml
    And overwrite the ones in:
    Applications ▸ Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 ▸ configuration ▸ CodeColoring ▸ Colors.xml
    Users ▸ youruser ▸ Library ▸ Application Support ▸ Adobe ▸ Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 ▸ en_US ▸ Configuration ▸ CodeColoring ▸ Colors.xml
    (Not sure if it's necessary to overwrite both...)
    Close and reopen Dreamweaver CC2014.1 and you should have the old color code back.
    Disclaimer:
    I'm not sure if this breaks anything with another languages, but for me it's ok with HTML, CSS, JS and PHP.
    You should copy the original Color.xml from Dreamweaver CC2014.1 and save it elsewhere. Don't just rename it. Remove it completely from the CodeColoring folder.
    If anything goes wrong, close Dreamweaver and use the original Colors.xml.
