Colored strokes appearing on frame edges?

hi everyone, hope you can help!
I am fairly new to FCpro, and have encountered this issue, when exporting to compressor just in the timeline... I can see a stroke on the edge of the frame. Its usually black, but sometimes colored. Check out this example: http://www.mooking.com/moodolph.html you can clearly see a green stroke on the right edge of the frame! what is this? how can I get rid of it and avoid it?
thanks! I am sure its not uncommon, but new to a rookie like me
looking forward to your reply,
moo.

sorry, if you click to play the quicktime clip, you’ll notice the green (approx. 1pxl stroke on the right side of the movie frame!) line.
the black stokes I have noticed on my previous movies, were on the top and bottom edges of the frame.
same sort of issue I suppose.
does that make sense? did you notice the stroke?
thanks!

  • Change color stroke expression

    Hi everybody,
I´m using the stroke effect applying on a mask with a wave wrap effect. I have a music track with a "convert audio to keyframes" done.
I´d like to vary the stroke color with the speed of the music.
If the music accelerate, the stroke will pass to red, and when the music slows, it´ll converrt to green.
Have you got a expression to help me? There is another way to do this without expression?
Tks a lot and have a good wee!

    Facts:
Your audio to keyframes produces a range of values that you can easily see using the graph editor
The range of values that Audio to Keyframes generate denote volume not tempo
Color values can be driven by an expression
Color values are an array of 4 values from 0 to 1
The array that would produce pure red looks like this [1, 0, 0, 1]
The array that would produce pure green looks like this [0, 1, 0, 1]
The linear expression function converts one range of numbers to another for example: linear(t, 0, 100, 1, 0) as the value of the property t changes from 0 to 100 the output changes from 1 to 0
Since there is no automatic beat counter in AE and expressions pull values from the current frame, devising a mathematical formula that looked for the time difference between the loudest volumes in the timeline would not only be difficult to create mathematically it would take longer to calculate for frame 20 than it took to calculate for frame 10 the easiest solution would be to simply add an expression control slider to the layer and animate the value based on your perception of the tempo
If you wanted to emphasize the beats instead of the tempo the same expression could be driven from the keyframe values of the Audio To Keyframes layer left, right, or both channels. Change the range of the first set of values to correspond to the minimum and maximum values you observe in the graph editor.
Here is an expression for driving a color change with an expression control slider named more green.
    t = effect("More Green")("Slider"); // slider value
    r = linear(t, 0, 100, 2, 0); // value of red
    g = linear(t, 0, 100, 0, 2); // value of green
    [r, g, 0, 1]
Note: to prevent the luminance value falling to 50% when the slider is at a value of 50 the upper value must be set to 2 instead of 1. Color will clip the value at 1 unless the project is set to 16 or 32 bit. Even with a 32 bit project the color will appear normal unless you are using a blend mode on the layer.
An easier solution that would maintain luminance as the color values shift would be to add Hue and Saturation to your Fill effect, set it to Colorize and then animate hue.

  • Uneven color between background text frame and underlying frame fill

Hi. I'm using InDesign CS3 on Windows XP.
On my document, the main heading is in a frame with a fill of 'None'. The heading text has a bevel and emboss. The text frame sits on a background A4 frame which is filled with a Pantone spot colour.
When I print the cover page, the color filling the text frame is slightly different from the background Pantone color, even though the text frame has no color fill.
When I checked the document before printing in View>Overprint Preview, it appeared to be fine. The PDF also looked fine. In both situations, I could not discern a color difference but it is there in the printed document.
To provide a color behind the text which matches the fill color of the frame occupying the whole page, what should I do? My gut feel is to select the background frame and the text frame and check the knockout box on the effects panel or something like that.
I hope I have explained sufficiently clearly the problem I am experiencing.
Look forward to hearing your suggestions.
    Thanks
    Frank

  • Problems with Scrollable Content : colored lines appear

    Hello,
We have a book with several Scrollable Content (around a total of 200).
The fact is that in many colored lines appear. These lines appear i disappear when changing article,
    anyone have any solution?
    THANKS

    Hi
I had the same problem. I had pasted the scrollable content directly into the container frame, but the pasted content was slightly 'taller' than the container window (the pasted object group was maybe 0.012 pixels larger than the container, so very slight) this caused it to display the coloured lines when I moved it up or down, although left and right movement worked fine. Resizing so the pasted content was smaller and exact pixels not 0.123 px (or the same size) as the container fixed it.

  • Tables: Controlling whether row strokes or column strokes appear on top

I was hoping I could use Table Options > Table Setup: Stroke Drawing Order to globally affect whether row strokes or column strokes appear on top of one another as well as how the gap of double lines connect. But the results are not meeting my expectations and am trying to determine if my application is buggy or my expectations are wrong.
The only thing this feature seems to affect is how row and column strokes interact with a table border. Is this indeed the intended purpose?
The only thing that does have an effect is that the most recently-edited stroke is the one that is brought forward. Is this your experience?
It also appears that the only way to force the gaps within double lines to connect is to make sure the row strokes and column strokes have the same thickness, color and tint. Is this correct?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Your assessment should be mitigated by how table work in other programs.
You can't do any of this in the first place in Excel. Just getting any
stroking out of the ordinary is a tedious task of avoiding what you don't
want to happen. Forget about controlling which stroke shows over what other
stroke. And have you tried working in tables in QuarkXPress? Aaaargh!!
Neither of those programs are any where near as intuitive as InDesign's
tables. Neither has the control. You can get (almost?) anything you want in
ID, that cannot be said for Excel and Quark.
I really think your only problem here is not assimilating the finer nuance
of how Table Options and Cell Options and Table Styles and Cell Styles
interact. Am I correct in the impression that you want the Table Options
Stroke Drawing Order to effect strokes that were not even formatted using
the Table Options? If true, that hardly sounds reasonable, or even a
preferable behaviour for InDesign to implement.

  • The new "Show and hide frame edges" is buggy and needless.

i have a card layout design and its irritating to see the blue outline on every block.Morever it doesnt even hide if i give any stroke.why do i need to preview everytime to see the real design.

Buggy and needless? You are sure, you use them correctly?
If you hide frame edges, they are hidden until you hover over an object. In this case, frame borders of this single object are temporarily displayed. This is working perfectly here.
What is not working on your machine? And why this is "useless"?

  • Hide Frame Edges CS3 Tiger G5 processor

Everything I have read seems to indicate that COMMAND+H does not hide frame edges, it hides the entire INDD CS3 app. BUT this is only happening while running Leopard 10.5 on an intel processor machine.
It is happening to me running Tiger 10.4, G5 processor.
What is troubling is that the view menu still shows COMMAND+H is the hide frame edges command. It does not show CONTROL+COMMAND+H as this forum indicated.
NOW the keyboard shortcuts under the edit meny shows CONTROL+COMMAND+H is the hide indesign key command.
So what I have going on is indesign hides when I do a COMMAND+H AND it hides when I do a CONTROL+COMMAND+H!
SO HOW DO I HIDE FRAME EDGES USING A KEYBOARD COMMAND?

Well I did go through the menus and that's what spurred my question.
The VIEW menu states that the keyboard shortcut "COMMAND+H" toggles hide/show frame edges but is does not. It hides the entire application.
"W+SELECTION Tool" works ok if "show frame edges" is already toggled on.
I need to see where the frame edges are for non stroked TEXT boxes in a customer supplied file.
I'd like to be able to toggle show/frame edges on/off without mousing and have the guides toggled off. Perhaps the "W" thing will work and I'll try it but the "COMMAND+H" shortcut is still wrong. CS2 works fine, what the view menu shows in CS3 is wrong. Same machine has both applications loaded so it is not an OS/processor issue. Appears to be an oversite in the CS3 application.
    NEWS FLASH
I just found that if I do an OPTION+COMMAND+H, the finder and all other applications will hide, I can then immediately do a COMMAND+H to show/hide Frame edges. If I go to the finder or other application then back to indesign the "hide indesign" behavior takes place.
So it looks like I must first hide all other active applications (OPTION+COMMAND+H), then toggle the frames using the COMMAND+H.

  • Show frame edges

I have "show frame edges" checked and yet my document does not show them. i have content boxes (within a picture frame) as well as text boxes, why don't the outlines show up? it looks like it would in preview mode - no boxes showing - why??? thanks

In ID CS2 (qualifying that in case this was changed in CS3):
    The frame toggle is:
    CMD+h
If your View menu has an entry for
    b "Show Frame Edges"
, then this indicates that your Frame Edges are currently hidden (or should be), and that using the command will "Show" the frames.
If your View menu has an entry for
    b "Hide Frame Edges"
, then this indicates that your Frame Edges are currently visible (or should be), and that using the command will "Hide" the frames.
    Other View toggles:
    CMD+; = show/hide (ruler) guides
    CMD+r = show/hide Rulers
    w = toggle preview mode
CMD+OPT+y = show/hide text threading (linked text boxes)
BTW: This post seems to be in direct conflict with another request you made about not wanting to see the frames...
Is the layer color set to white? That would make identifying the frame edges VERY hard against a white background.

  • Trouble with colors not appearing correctly.

This has been an ongoing problem. I have created links within my pages and assigned the links different colors to help the user determine which link it is. On some pages the colors appear correct and the next page the color links appear as black. Sometimes the entire page links are black and sometimes it is just a few. I have deleted all links and colors and started over, but no luck.
Has anyone had this issue and overcome it? What is the cause of this problem?

I believe you are referring to visited links , which by default changes on revisiting the page.
You can try the suggestion mentioned here to change back to default color on visit :
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8188060/how-to-make-link-not-change-color-after-visited
If this is not you are referring to , then please provide page url and screenshots where you see a change in color.

  • Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

  • Color Picker appears when quitting Premiere Pro CC

    Anyone else having this issue...
Sometimes when I quit out of Adobe Premiere Pro CC, the Color Picker appears.  After I close the Color Picker, Premiere quits as normal, but sometimes I have to close the Color Picker 3 times before it goes away.
It doesn't always do it and I can't figure out what triggers it (besides quitting Premiere).
I'm running it on Windows 8.  Premiere Pro CC v7.0.1 (105).  I only started noticing it in this most recent update of Premiere Pro CC.
    Thanks,

This bug landed on my plate recently for investigation, and today I managed to nail down one simple repro case: In AE, copy one or more Solids or Adjustment Layers to the clipboard (or a comp containing solids/AdjLayers), then right-click in PPro's Project panel, Timeline, or Effect Controls panel. I get one instance of the color picker for each solid copied to the clipboard.
A workaround for this repro case is to copy anything other than a solid or adjustment layer to the clipboard before right-clicking in PPRO.
Edited to add: I encounter the Color Picker only the first time I right-click in PPro after setting focus on the app. Also, once an AE Solid or AdjLayer is on the clipboard, this bug can be reproed each time PPro regains focus, regardless of which app had focus last.
If the Color Picker is popping up for you in cases that do not fit the scenario I've described, please send me a private message; I'll want to follow up to isolate your case.

  • Auto show frame edges live view & scaling

I have just started using InDesign CS5 and I have found how to switch off live view for better performance, but CS5 also has the this thing where if you run the mouse pointer over objects, by default it highlights the frame edges of the object the pointer is on. It also has the icon that shows if it's an image or not. I prefer to work with a clean interface and switch stuff like that on if necessary. Can somebidy help be find where to disable that feature please.
One other thing is when I used to command/option/scale an object, in CS4 it would alway scale proportionately from whichever corner I grabbed. Now by default it scales from the centre of the object. How can I get it back to scaling from the corner I grab please.
    Thanks!

    Frame Edge Highlighting:
This is a oft hated feature that you can't turn off.  Have a look at this Indesign Secrets post here, and here's a summary of some from this forum.
    Content Grabber:
Thankfully Adobe made this new function able to be turned off, go View > Extras > Hide Content Grabber.
    Scaling:
This thread here should answer your question.

  • Column chart solid color stroke with fillfunction

    Hi,
in a column chart I am using the fillfunction,
to customize the color of each column.
    Now I need to modify,
for each column also the solid color stroke,
but I can't figure how can I do that.
Some one can help me ?
    Thanks a lot
    Jody

Depending on what you are trying to do, you need to either:
create an Array with the colors
    [Bindable]
private var warmColorsArray:Array = new Array(
            new SolidColor(0xFF0033, .5),
            new SolidColor(0xFF0066, .5),
            new SolidColor(0xFF0099, .5)
         [Bindable]
private var coolColorsArray:Array = new Array(
            new SolidColor(0x3333CC, .5),
            new SolidColor(0x3366CC, .5),
            new SolidColor(0x3399CC, .5)
And then just add that array to the fill parameter
    <mx:ColumnSeries
                    xField="month"
                    yField="profit"
                    displayName="Profit"
                    fills="{warmColorsArray}">
               </mx:ColumnSeries>
Or, you need use the fillFunction to set each item individually.
Here is the results from an example I did, in order how to do it. And I put a post on my blog explaining what I did.

  • Colored circles appearing into view using an expression instead of keyframes?

Hello and thank you for your time,
I'll explain this as simply as I can,
I have a comp where a satelite is orbiting the Earth (the Earth is my comp space). The Earth is also in rotating but much slower. The satelite is one comp, and the Earth rotating is another comp. The orbiting satelite is looped, the Earth comp is rotating is looped - all is good there.
Everytime the satelite makes a complete orbit around the Earth, at a specfic point on the comp space of my choosing, I would like to add a colored circle. So it would look like that circle appears into view.
So the colored cirlce would appear into view, onto the comp (Earth) and follow the slow and gradual rotation of the Earth as it moves from left to right. The satelite would continue to orbit fast.
However I would like to perform this action of "add coloured circle onto Earth" perhaps 100's of times and at specific points.
The most important challenge here is : how can I perform this action using expressions so that I do not have to keyframe hundreds of colored circles appearing into view one at a time?
The second important thing is : how can I position these colored circles in a specfic pattern laid out over the Earth and not in a random fashion?
    Thanks again!
    D

Simply add the circles in the 2D texture or a separate comp synced to your Earth and make it a spehjre by using yet one more instance of CC Sphere. The timing could certainly be worked out using expressions based on the longitude/ latitude coordinates vs. angle, but that's gonna be more than copy&pasting 3 lines of code on a forum. If you can#t do it, hire someone or simply bite the bullet and hand-animate.

  • Lightroom 5 color labels appear dark causing mac pro monitor(s) to go black, have to restart, get a kernel panic os 10.7 5

I have a Mac Pro 12 core, with a Nvidia Quadro Pro 4000 video card. I have been using lightroom with this video card since 2011 without a problem. I updated to os 10.7.5, which apple says it is the latest f  and now when i use lightroom (after about 15 minutes),  my monitor goes black, which i am sure is a video card issue which involves lightroom settings, and i have to restart my system. After restart I get a kernel panic report. I unistalled lightroom, and had no crashes. I reinstalled it and i started to get computer crashes again. (not lightroom crashes but computer  -) When i open lightroom, the color labels appear saturated and much darker than usual. I took a screenshot www.jlanceimaging.com/lrscreenshot.jpg.
Since updating to 10.7.5 i have had this issue with lightroom and the video card.
I also went into photoshop an unchecked the graphics processor but still got the crashes.
and last;y, i opened up lightroom 4 and had no problems

You don't say what, if anything, you have done to test, resolve or rule out causes, so you can always assume hard restarts, freezes, and not safe shutdowns will make for more problems (corrupt files, file system, directory, etc).
Running Apple Hardware Test; Reset SMC; repairing your drives; ruling out cables, controllers, external devices, even drivers for printers and other devices.
If you are on a UPS, it should be 1000VA or larger (1300-1500VA). If there are other devices and you could be exceeding the load on circuit breaker, also worth looking into and sometimes requires adding a new circuit line.
