Colorful X, but no DE/WM/anything
Can't quite tell you when this happened (as it was some time ago -- I believe after a kernel update), but after a reboot, I login, try to bring up DWM through CDM -- get thrown into X where it decides to start cycling me through colors -- black, white, green, red, yellow, blue, some gradient colors, etc, until it finally loops back around. I tried downgrading the kernel, downgrading the nvidia drivers, and switching to nouveau (which gives me a lovely pure black screen) but to no avail.
I'm at a loss now -- did a fresh reinstall (I completely butchered my config files while blind-editing them -- different story, similarly related); and I'm still having the same problems. I backed up most of my config files -- including my Xorg.conf file -- from my previous install and pushed them back onto my colorful-X machine.

I'm probably missing something pretty simple here -- does anyone know what it is? I'm having DWM withdrawls. ^_^

EDIT - Well, now I'm hanging on boot with "Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed". Fantastic.
EDIT2 - Fixed the UDev hang on boot. Lovely. Now back to this bigger problem.
EDIT3 - Guess I didn't fix the UDev hang on boot. Gotta look into that. Sporadic boots. >.<

If it turns out to be a GPU problem, I'm screwed -- it's a Macbook Pro, out of warranty >.<

The only thing weird in the log file is the EDID data. I would approach this by booting to a console and starting X with startx and see what happens when you avoid anything beyond the basic X windows
I'll do that after I get back from my classes today. I believe the Xorg log I posted was when I started with startx, but It could have been through CDM. I'll repost another just to make sure.
I'll get the information back as soon as I can.

i have an ipod tough 3g and its like about 4 to 5 years old it works perfectly fine except the home button is abit messed up and the ipod sometimes crashes. but other than that everything is fine. so i was watching something on an app and then al of a sudden i dont see the video i can just hear it. i then think its just the app but when i go on youtube the same exact thing happens. you click to watch a video and you can hear it perfectly but you cant see anything. the screen is just black when u ONLY watch a video. this happened last night so yea.i really hope somebody can help me figure out how to fix this and whats wrongwith it:)

Noor .T.When it goes black do a very short press of the button on the right upper side of the phone and the screen will reappear. Make it a very short quick press.
OTOH, if you are using the speaker so you can watch the screen as you are talking when it goes dim touch the screen anywhere that it is blank and it will again go bright. On long calls you have to repeat this.
Many folks have had the same problem you described and what I have told you is the best and ONLY way around the screen going blank during a call.

I need help with color pallette in iPhoto 11. I have created a book and would like to use a different color background than those given in "background." I have found the color palettes but can't seem to incorporate them into my backgrounds palette.
That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

While using a drop-down menu i.e. File, edit, image, or even when saving as and choosing the file type; the list appears and I am able to highlight what i want but cannot click on anything. This is becoming incredibly frustrating. It happens at random time and a restart of the computer is all that helps, then with out any notice it starts to do this again. Mac Book Pro i7 2.2 16 GB 1333 Ram, (2) 450GB SSD both internal to machine. At this point I am losing file because I am unable to save in the file type I need. Does anyone out there know how to solve this issue?

philI haven't been unify photoshop much in the past month, but I did try your suggestion and it seemed to work for a while. Today when i went to save a document the same thing happened: click on file>save at this point I can not click on save even though it is highlighted. Tryed to use command s that brings up the save dialogue box, but when I try to change file type I again cannot select it from the drop down menu.

I have my ipod nano 5th generation and when i plugged to my computer it is recognized but i cant do anything. On the ipod all i can see is a blackscreen with the apple sign! How can i fix this?

I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.

I've got a new Apple ID but can not change anything on my phone, my old Apple ID is connected to icloud but is not letting me delete it without a password! But I do not know this password what can I do?
If the old ID is an earlier version of your new ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your new iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. You can now use your new password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
Note: this will not work if your new ID is an entirely new ID that was never previously associated with the old email address. -
2 months ago my ipod was stolen for a plummbing men that come to my home, i want to make the report, but i dont have anything to find my serail number, I tried itunes, but didnt find a link that had lead me to my seral number, the old boxes is gone, please help me how can do it, and if i can recupere my i pod some day i had tresure information on it.
If your iPod was the last device that you connected to and synced with your iTunes library, there is a chance you might be able to get the serial # to show up in the Device Connectivity diagnostic report. See here for instructions on running this test.

If you have previously registered the device with Apple, you can view it's serial # in your list of devices you have registered under your Apple ID.

How do I change a document that I have saved as a PDF file in Documents........I can open it but can't do anything with it.
A PDF is really an electronic print of your document & is not intended for future editing. You should always save a copy of the original document in the program that created it & use that for edits. You can then export or print the revised document to PDF, again saving the original.

Ever since I downloaded the new Firefox, when I right-click on a link to open it in a different tab, the tab will open but will not load anything, no matter what link I try. The tab will show the website destination in the navigation bar, but will not automatically load it; I have to press the load button in the navigation bar instead of it instantly loading.

Hey, I was having the same problem,, i just got mine to work. Take off everything but your apps (meaning take off pictures, music, ringtones, movies, tv shows, etc just leave on the apps) Then go up to the top and go to Store and turn off Genius. Restore your iPhone (It'll ask you to back up, click yes.) Restore from back up, Let your apps come back then when those are done add each category one by one. (i.e. click Photos -> Sync Photos and let them finish, then click something else like music) Hope this helps!

Your MacBook is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8, which is the minimum required to install the current version of iTunes and sync devices running iOS 7. It doesn't need to be compatible with Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks.
